Lovely house, near all amenities and shops. The bedrooms are beautiful and really comfy. The kitchen is well equipped to cook for seven people. We spent a lot of time in the garden as we had lovely weather, my only slight criticism is that they could get a proper table and chairs in the garden rather than a table with seats round the edge, but a very small thing.
We had a lovely week in Gurnard with my husband, son, granny sister in law and her kids. Seven of us were very comfortable in the house which is a great size for a group. The kids loved playing in the garden and we loved the kitchen and sitting on the decking. There are TVs in every room so no squabbling about what to watch! The location is great- a few minutes walk from the seafront where you can walk to Cowes. The cafe by the beach does great breakfasts. My son (aged nearly 8) loved the single bedroom which has lots of toys and he said his favourite thing about the holiday was playing wit...more
Booked this for my family who were in appalling conditions accommodation & needed to move for the second week of their stay on the IOW.Cant praise the staff at Home from home highly enough for their unfailing help & kindness. My family were impressed with the high standard of the chalet ,the cleanliness, the bedding ,towels ,drinks suitable for all the family ,games literature ,the list is endless .very highly recommended ,and value for money .
We have had a fantastic week at Highlands. We booked Apartments 2, 3 and 4 and they were all excellent with the bonus of having our own private entrance door for all three. The apartments were clean with everything you could need for your stay. Excellent location for Shanklin and the beach. View of the beach from Apartment 4 was amazing. I would definitely book again and would recommend these apartments if staying with friends or family.
We stayed here a few weeks ago, liked it so much, we booked another week. It was an ideal location for us, right in the heart of Cowes. The view from the balcony across the Solent was superb! The accommodation was excellent with everything you would need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended.
We very much enjoyed our stay in this property and would recommend it to other families looking to holiday in Ventnor.
We all had a great stay. Home from home only much bigger! The kitchen/dining area was very well equipped with utensils, cutlery etc. More than enough seating round the table for a family of 10. Hob, double oven, dishwasher. Utility room with more storage, washing machine and tumble dryer. Boot room out to the garden, which had the sun for most of the day. Lounge area was big with loads of comfy arm chairs and settees. Although the two TV's were a bit small for the size of the rooms. All the bedrooms were well decorated and furnished, light and airy. En-suite shower room, family bathroom and e...more
We stayed as a family of 5; 4 adults and one child. The house was large, airy, and beautifully furnished. The kitchen was especially impressive; we cooked several full meals there. There is a bus stop right across the street; we got passes and rode to several locations on the Isle of Wight. It was also an easy walk to the beach and the High Street. Everything about the booking process worked well with the exception that the Trip Advisor website stated the house had WiFi and the Home Away that there was a hotspot. Neither were true and when we called to inquire we were told to use WiFi at the ...more
The only criticism I have is the property did not have a second toilet. Apart from that an excellent property. We all loved having a television in our bedroom. We take an English cottage holiday every May and having more than one television is a first. It took us a couple of nights to find the car park. Overall I found the staff at Home from Home excellent. Fabulous place to stay well equipped and close to the lovely beach at Shanklin. and a good selection of shops within 1 mile. The pictures of the interior of the house do not do the property justice as it does not convey the size of the accommodation which is excellent and suitable for a family including young children and dogs.. Really enjoyed our stay.
This was a family holiday with our daughter, son-in-law, and four year old grandaughter. We found Pine Ridge with not too much difficulty though the road closure near Ventnor threw us a little. Once we realised we needed to approach via the village of Niton all was well. The house was just as we imagined and suited us perfectly. The family bedroom was just right as the four year old had mummy and daddy close at hand so was very happy - she even had a choice of two beds! Everything was nice and clean and as advertised so no complaints. Blackgang Chine was just a short drive away and a fam...more
I have stayed in Shanklin Manor many times now and I will 100% definatley be staying here again when I come and visit the Isle Of Wight again! It is an amazing property, kept very clean and tidy, lots of space, comfy beds you name it. Even only a short walk from Shanklin old village and the seafront. Me and my partner love it here and its our favourite holiday destination. We will definatley be staying again.
Ideally situated, very comfortable and well-presented holiday home. Garden ideal for teenage boys to play football!
good property, ideal situation near shops and pubs. well equipped and clean and comfortable friendly neighbouyrs
Fantastic stay at Solent view with my husband, 3 children and our dog. Perfect for us all. Solent view is very well equipped, clean and comfortable. It is in a fantastic, quiet, beautiful location with wonderful beaches. We have visited the island a million times before but this is by far our favourite accomadation and location. We all hope to visit again next year. We are very sad to be home!
We had a lovely week in a well equipped and superbly clean cottage. Was worried about proximity to Pond Cafe but this proved to be unfounded. Great location and very quiet. The owners made us feel very welcome and the arrival of a DVD midweek for the kids was most welcome. Highly recommended.
Trelawney Cottage just perfect in every way. Setting especially perfect, and location also perfect for walking into town along the very pretty St Catherine Street. We also had stunning weather, so definitely one of our best holidays. The only thing I would add on the website would be a warning that the stairs are quite steep, especially if you are overweight and about to receive a stent for a blocked artery, so be aware. And my wife has pointed out that a little information in the property, which may be there but possibly we missed, about the shower switch (which is on the owner's webs...more
This well equipped apartment, situated on a quiet road, is part of a large elegant building with lovely communal gardens and a stunning view over Sandown Bay from its large private veranda. It is an easy walk down the hill to Shanklin Old Village, the Chine and Rylstone Gardens ....... the walk back up the hill is a little more challenging. Attractions on the rest of the Island are within a short drive or it is pleasant to just sit and look at the view for the days you might want to relax. Shanklin, itself, has several nice cafes, pubs and gift shops. We will definitely be looking to book thi...more
Wow! What a beautiful to stay! Truely was lovely. My boyfriend and I loved being surrounded by all the farm animals and the countryside. The cottage was so clean and very nicely laid out, a must stay. Richard, the farm owner, was a great pleasure to talk to, very loving and kind. Very easy access to all parts of the island, perfect if you want to go down to Yarmouth and the needles. Plenty of walks to be had along the coast line and around the countryside of the beautiful island. Truely was a lovely stay. Would totally recommend it.
Everything you could want in a holiday property. Spotlessly clean and we would recommend this to anybody.
We really had a wonderful time at this cosy flat. The balcony is so sheltered that we could sit ouitside even thoug it was autumn. Unfortunately the flat wasn´t very clean but óur complaints were taken seriously and help was provided. All in all we had a good Holiday. We will recommend the place and home from home to our friends.
very well equipped bungalow every thing you c ould possiblely need for a great stay and a prime location, great sea views
This was our second time at Pier Top. It is beautifully situated and well appointed - very comfortable beds, well set up kitchen etc. We had a couple of issues at the outset but the agents and the owners were ready and very willing to assist, which was impressive customer service we thought. If we return to Ventnor again we would look to return to Pier Top.
This was our 11th year on the island and Brownlow was by far the best holiday home we have stayed in. Perfect location only a 4min walk to the beach, everything in the house was very well thought of we didn't need anything. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.
St Catherine's is a lovely place to stay in the Isle of Wight. Great location, great amenities and customer service provided during the booking process. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area. Great price for quality.
We have rented many cottages but never one as ideal as this. Firstly it is a chalet rather than a true cottage and the amount of space available is a bit tight. Who cares? This is all you need for a perfect holiday at a very reasonable price. Red Cedars is very recently refurbished. All the decor is immaculate in a New England seaside theme. Light and airy and with personal touches and a sense of humour on every corner. A lot of work has gone into this you cannot help but smile. The owner's have tried to plan and provide for every eventuality they succeeded. TV in every room, dvds, games etc....more
The Furlongs is a lovely bungalow, very clean and with a mass of kitchen equipment. Seating and beds were both very comfortable. It has a beautiful garden with tall trees and lots of birds. It is well situated to explore the whole island with easy access to main road. Thoroughly recommended
This was our third stay at Meadow Dairy. We particularly like the quiet location but which is only two minutes walk from the Co-op shop and not much further to the hourly bus service, which we used a lot with our bus-passes. Since our last visit a toilet by the back door has been removed and the space converted into a delightful "snug" with an armchair and a view to the garden through new patio doors. We had very good weather for our stay but, if it had been wet, we might have cursed having to push past the overgrown hydrangea bush right by the steps to the front door and getting our clothe...more
We have stayed in a number of apartments in the Priory and this is our best one. Great views! Would come again
We rented this house for a weekend in October, so that we could take part in the "Beer and Buses" event that was taking place on the island. "We" was 5 mature men who were interested in both the features of the event, and with the house having 5 bedrooms it was ideal. Its location close to the bus museum was a bonus. The accommodation was just what we wanted, and the amenities included everything we needed, except we would have loved there to be wi-fi! The "eccentricities" were the positioning of some of the light switches, and the way some of the doors overlapped. But these don't det...more
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful house overlooking seas and hills. Dex and Mandy were very welcoming and helpful - we couldn't have asked for more. The views from the house were a real treat and evenings spent watching the fading light over the sea and the stunning skies formed some of the best memories of this holiday. Highly recommend Corydon.
Have been 7 times before over the last few years and never been disapointed. All properties superb. Looking forward to going again next year.
The house is lovely and generally we were very happy. However, there are a couple of issues that marred our stay somewhat. Firstly, the dishwasher did not work properly as it did not clean the dishes well at all Secondly, the WiFi issue was very annoying. Having to pay on top of the amount we had already laid out for the holiday was very annoying and was not the case last year. When we did get it - it could not handle six items being connected at once and stopped working at least once a day. Thirdly, there were not enough mugs for 8 adults - nevermind a house full of adults. Fourthly, the ...more
We have stayed at this property for a number of years and this is great for large parties. If there have been any problems with anything these have always been dealt with immediately. Good location and a quiet location. The facilities within the house are excellent.
Rebooked this year as we had such a great time last year. Cottage is just 5 mins from the town center and good for exploring the island. The house has everything you need for a stay including a washing machine which came in handy. Only thing i would note is that the staircase is small and spiral and may no be suitable for anyone who finds srairs a challenge.Would highly recommend this accomotion and we may well book a 3rd stay
A well presented cottage, plenty big enough for two, in a part of the island we like. Woods and downs in walk-out-of-the-cottage range behind, super beach at Yaverland, complete with body-surfable waves, café and car park, maybe 10 minutes away in the car. Island Line railway for when one is feeling more adventurous - with a half hour service up and down the east coast of the island, running all day. Car parking a five minute walk away, fine. Car park never full. Stairs might be a bit awkward if you have mobility problems. Like bad hips or knees. Newly opened serious gastro place (Hei...more
We had an excellent Holiday in IOW .Staying at the Reach property was great and peaceful the sea view was good with fresh sea breach. access to the shops beach etc was very close by too.
This is our second time staying at accommodation with Home from Home Holidays and it was just as great as the first time. Everyone at Home from Home is really helpful - also with booking the ferry which takes a weight off our mind. Accommodation is always well presented and clean and we would certainly recommend this accommodation and Home from Homes to anyone looking to stay on the Isle of Wight. :)
This house is like a tardis! It looks so small on the outside yet somehow it fits in 2 reception rooms, 3 bedrooms, a conservatory, a large bathroom, toilet and kitchen! The house is beautifully decorated with photos, pictures and ornaments so it really feels like staying at a friends house. There are DVDs, games, books and plenty of local information The beds are comfy and there is ample storage for clothes. The upstairs twin bedroom feels like a teenager's dream, the stairs are slightly steep up to it, so might not be suitable for very young children or people with mobility issues. The liv...more
Everything concerning our chalet was 99% fine. Only problem we encountered was after we arrived at the chalet having bought some provisions at Tesco first, including several bags of frozen food, we found out the fridge was just that... a larder fridge with no ice compartment! We had to bin our frozen goods. We have stayed in various chalets on this site over the years and each chalet up to this point had a fridge with a small ice compartment at the top. We therefore presumed Downs View would be the same. However, this was our only bugbear.... everything else was fine.
I am pleased we choose this place to stay for our holiday, the lodge was suitable for our requirements a family of four. The Cricket Club Staff were very friendly and made our stay most welcome. Weather was lovely, great beach to walk too with superb scenery, will definitly be booking this place again. High Recommended.
We have stayed here before so we new what to expect. I think its had a redecoration and new double glazed windows in since then. Once again we found Church Place to be perfect almost, for our needs. The gran kids loved all the toys and games there and we able to kick a ball around in the large garden. Being 2 mins walk away from the best pub on the island was a great benefit. We visited the White Horse several times during our stay as both the food and drink were first class. Blackgang Chine was within 5 mins in the car so your ticket enabled you to visit as many times as you like for 7...more
Although some may say it was like stepping back into the 1950s, we loved the fact that many original features of the bungalow remained. Everywhere was clean when we arrived and it was good to go somewhere for 6 people which actually catered for 6 people- in fact it was so well equipped that the only thing I couldn't find was a hair band to tie my hair back with. The view was tremendous - every day saw different types of ships passing by with some anchored for several days waiting to go into port. The weather was changeable but on days when it was very wet there were numerous games and dvds ...more
Two families holidaying together plenary of space with all the mod cons you could ask for very comfy spacious rooms. Only thing I would say is single quilts on single beds is a bit of a no no these days, ok for small kids but if you've got adults in single beds then not so good, especially when it's a little cold at night as our summer nights can be. And bath mat in main bathroom. But other than that would definitely be a returning customer. 8/10
We booked Norwood House for Christmas to spend with family and had a lovely week! It was the perfect house for Xmas - homely and warm with everything included for a traditional Christmas - all essentials including a good cooker, pots and pans to cook a beautiful traditional Xmas dinner and a dishwasher to help with the cleaning up afterwards. The house is furnished well and was warm on the cold nights - as per other reviews, yes it's noisy on the main road but we knew that when booking and were happy to accept this - Brading is a beautiful, historic village - only thing we struggled with is th...more
Was very pleased with our stay at osbourne heights, the property was a home from home. Lovely large kitchen handy conservatory and comfortable room and bedrooms. The large screen tv was excellent as was the on suite An handy downstairs toilet. The property is also in a great location. The house was very clean my only disappointment was the garden. It looked like the grass had not been cut for months. Although this did not spoil our stay it seems a shame that such a lovely property was let down by the lack of tlc outside. Could do with mayb slabbin as only sml to make it maintenance free. Sayin...more
Me and my family had a great time during the week stay, kids loved the big play area behind the house. Great holiday home for BBQ party with children. The house is very clean and the customer service was excellent, only one thing it was expensive but I can't complain that was very peak times. We all enjoyed during the holidays .
The house was beautiful. It was pricey being in season but overall we were very pleased. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
We stayed here for a week. 6 adults, 1 child and 3 dogs. Plenty room for all of us. House is lived in but we didn't have to worry about dogs, back garden nice and secure. Had all we needed, no problems at all. Location great, nice beach at bottom of road and an easy walk into Ryde. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
This is a nice small cottage in a beautiful location. A few small changes would make it even better. A hand rail by the bath would make it easier to get in and out of the bath for using the shower. Sorting out the parking so that it is clear where to park overnight as this caused a small amount of stress with other visitors staying in the street. But overall we had a very good stay in this well equipped cottage
The property was smaller than I was expecting. You need a car to stay here and the parking was slightly tricky. The property was well equipped especially if you were wanting to cook. Poor mobile and no wi-fi signal. A hot shower is a must when staying for a week! The shower didn't work for 2 days but was replaced by the owner with a much appreciated power shower :)
The sea view was lovely, but the apartment was average. Very old fashioned inside, and small. I also had no phone signal at all, so wifi would have been useful. Getting the tv to work was also hit and miss. If you're just looking for somewhere to lay your head at night, then it's fine.
Disappointing. More cramped for five – two adults and three children – than we expected (“no different from specs on website” said the agent in response to our call on arrival), smelt damp until we'd had windows open for a few hours (“haven't heard that before”), no fridge/freezer or dishwasher in spite of named electrical sockets (“it's 3-star not 4-star”), a below-worktop fridge that had seen better days (“we'll talk to the owner”), and a 26-inch CRT TV from the 1990s that was perhaps intended to enhance the island's retro appeal more than make the Olympics watchable in the evenings (“Ha! Ha...more
Lovely big house garden too House not clean dusty furniture tops Lovely conservatory Good location nice walks TV not working problem with Ariel despite man trying ti fix still no TV for the 4 days !
The chalet is in a lovely location with a safe, green area for the kids to play on. Upon arrival there was no linen or towels but this was quickly resolved with a phone call. The chalet could have been a bit cleaner but overall it was a good place to stay and had everything we needed.
On arrival we couldn't believe how short of cupboard space there was in the kitchen to say it's for 8 people. The kitchen cupboards are full of the owners food stuffs, and we only had three shelves to put our food in, The house was dirty, and it was obvious that it hadn't had a good clean in a long time. Cobwebs in the lounge, crumbs between the leather cushions on the sofa, the floors downstairs were filthy, the downstairs shower still had sand and grime on the floor and in it obviously hadn't been cleaned before we arrived. Water only came out of one hole on the shower head, so my husband ha...more
first part of our party text the word "PENG" which apparently is good :) lovely fittings & comfortable beds, even the sofa bed. washing machine & tumble dryer & superb shower that coped with the 8 of us. anything you could want was available including binoculars in every room. all the wonderful places to go on the isle of Wight but if you want to stay in 2 SKY boxes with basic channels though I'm guessing if you have your own SKY card you could pop that in the box for all your normal channels, and WiFi was good for the 8 of us.
My husband and I we disappointed as we were told that there was a lift,to find it has broken down ,and was still waiting for repair. We had to clime up the fire escape to get to our holiday flat. Plus the boiler did not work the first night, was repaired on our second day.
A good situation and generally the site has potential and seems to have some good properties. It was easy for children to play outside and access the cliff path. Accommodation was small and very basic. Comfortable sofa and bedrooms were adequate although cupboard in the small bedroom was difficult to use. Plenty of cupboard space in kitchen - probably too much, one less lower cupboard would give more room in the sitting area. Not exactly as advertised on website; no dishwasher or DVD. There was nowhere to hang coats which was difficult for us as it rained a lot. Electric shower needs care...more
Clearly needs severe updating. Settee lacked cushions at the back and was very uncomfortable, Settee and chair packed out with foam due to wear and kept slipping off. Dining table only accommodated 4 people even though the accommodation is for 6. TV too small to see and reception intermittent. Limited cooking utensils and what was there didn't work e.g. can opener, blunt knives and some very dangerous e.g. saucepan handles loose. It must be noted however that the bungalow was clean and the bathroom had some work done to it which was adequate.
