We stayed in the Roost at Kernock Cottages for my mum’s 70th birthday. The facilities were excellent - giving everyone the space they needed to spend quality time together or apart. The bedrooms were large and comfortable, and having an en suite each made a real difference. The secluded location meant that our private gardens had stunning views over the valley, and we felt safe letting the dog and my toddler run around. The outside space gave multiple options for relaxing and enjoying a drink or a chat. What really made the stay exceptional, though, were the hosts. Damian made us feel insta...more
We were delighted to find Kernock Cottages as we have stayed in this part of Cornwall before and therefore interested in new places to stay. The dog-friendliness of Kernock Cottages is a major plus - being able to walk straight out of the cottage into fields where the dog can run free is fantastic - no roads to navigate, no need to get in the car. Having a holiday where our ( rather highly-strung) dog feels settled and happy means that we can all relax! Our cottage ( Tree Barn) was well-equipped, comfortable and cosy. The Welcome Pack is generous - bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, milk, juice, te...more
This was our fourth visit to Kernock Cottages, but our first in Owl Barn. As well as our dog Solo, who we are certain thinks of Central Bark as his happy place, we brought our son along as he had a week off before starting a new job. It was also my wife's birthday the day after we arrived, so it seemed the perfect time and place for a break. Owl Barn did not disappoint. The layout is just perfect, with bedrooms arranged across two floors so privacy is ensured, and a wonderful mezzanine level for watching television or relaxing in. There is even a glorious reading nook across a bridge from the...more
This was our 3rd stay at Kernock Cottages and it did not disappoint. The cottage was spotlessly clean and perfectly presented as always. Damian, the owner sent us lots of places to visit and following his recommendations we went to Golitha Falls and visited Inkies smokehouse - the pancakes were the best ever. We also went to The Canteen at Maker Heights, what a gem of a place. We walked down into Kingsand from there which is a lovely place. It was really good to get back to the cottage after a day out and relax in the hot tub with a drink and watch the sunset. A perfect break for us and t...more
We thoroughly enjoyed a weeks holiday at Kernock cottages. The accommodation was excellent and we were well looked after by Damian and Louise. Great location. Perfect if you have dogs with direct access to a dedicated, safe, enclosed and picturesque field/wood, complete with waste bins. Abiding memory will be relaxing in the hot tub as the sun set, listening to tawny owls. I have no doubt we’ll be back again (for a third time).
Very hospitable stay over Xmas! Lovely spot with views and surrounding countryside. Great hot tub! I did have some reservations about the stairs but needn’t have worried as stair gates provided were very useful, safe for children and dogs. A good size house and very well appointed, and just a short stroll to a pub!
