A fully restored traditional Hebridean thatched cottage on the island of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. The cottage has exposed beams, peat fire and hand crafted furniture and interior for a true Hebridean experience.The cottage has been awarded 5 star Visit Scotland status.
We stayed for a week at The Shieling. The owner was very proactive and helpful trying to suggest alternative ferry routes after our original booking was re-routed. This was just one indication of the attention to detail and all round helpfulness. The cottage is immaculate and full of lots of lovely little touches from the welcome hamper to helpful bits and pieces like an emergency sewing kit, robes and slippers, and lots of helpful information to help your plan your stay.
