Directly on the sea front, West Hale is a 1920s detached bungalow with uninterrupted views across the Solent and within 350 metres of the shops and amenities in East Wittering village.

West Hale is easy-going and unpretentious. Inside the rooms are simply and comfortably furnished with lots of living space and an inviting sun room. Outside there is a patio with furniture for relaxing on warm dry days, and the lawned south facing garden with gate leads directly onto the beach.

Having not been able to book last year, this 3 wks have been an amazing break. We love this quirky property. Has all we require for a good rest and recuperation from the stresses of the year.

The view is quite simply magnificent. No one will be disappointed at all on that score. The bungalow is ideal for those with restricted mobility being all on one level once inside and with a good handrail to the entrance of the property. Alas there is no handrail at the back which would be a boon especially as the steps and ground around them are hard concrete.

The property is quite run down and although one can understand that the rental price to some extent reflects that, especially in comparison with other properties, it is still a considerable amount of money that one is paying. For that reason I think the owners need to update and do some repairs. Things such as the windows, they are in very poor condition, bits of radiator panels held together with gaffer tape, one of the taps on the bath not tethered to anything and moving freely, all the logos on the oven to denote what setting one is putting it on...all rubbed away, so one could be defrosting, grilling or baking...who would know...and blinds that are ripped and broken. A shame as these simple things would make a great deal of difference and I think should be seen as basics, not luxuries.

Would we stay again....definitely, but these repairs would be extremely advantageous.

Our second visit we where hoping that the condition of the house and garden would have improved since last year but no such luck.
Bathroom and living room flooring could do with replacing and a tidy up of the garden would make it almost perfect
Cleanliness could also do with improvement cooking utensils and were cooker were very grubby.
Found two mouldy cabbages and a bag of sprouting potatoes in a cupboard.

This letting must be a blot on the agents reputation. Why haven't Baileys removed West Hale from their list of holiday rents.

With its direct access to the beach it is ideal for those wanting to relax and get away from it by the sea. Our first stay in this beach house of a rather quirky design. We all enjoyed our stay at West Hale.
An ideal place for a summer holiday if the weather is fine and sunny, but I noted a few damp issues with the old building as unfortunately our weather was stormy and wet.
I would recommend more reliable faster WiFi for the teenagers!

The garden and bedrooms and kitchen where fine
However the presentation of the house was extremely poor especially the approach to the front of the house
and the garden.
The hedges had not been cut back and overgrown the garden weed killer had been applied but the dead weeds
had been left.
The bathroom requires a make over and the floor in the living room requires replacing.
Overall the location and view from the house is perfect but better presentation internally and outside could make
the entire experience perfect.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at West Hale regarding the garden and overall presentation. Having spoken to the gardener, he did remove some weeds but had left areas where he felt it needed slightly longer to penetrate the roots. However, this has now been attended to and we will be speaking with the owners regarding your other comments. This is certainly a popular property with returning visitors year after year by those who obviously love the position and views as you have done. The quirkiness of this property is certainly a reminder of childhood memories by the sea.

I stayed at West Hale 10 years ago, the place has had very little done to it since then and I feel is in need of updating.

Cleanliness was an issue, i don't think it had been cleaned very well if at all before our arrival. Some of the windows could not be opened especially the one in the largest bedroom, the handle had been nailed so it could not be opened and the other handle was missing. This I felt was a health and safety issue.

I would not stay in this property again although it has the most wonderful outlook which is such a shame!
