Feel at home in the Cotswolds

We have lavished care on this Grade 2 listed Cotswold stone cottage and its award winning garden. 'Claypot Cottage' has been completely refurbished and remodelled to combine comfort and style with country living.

Thinking local and supporting the community. The cottage features artwork, which reflects the Cotswolds and much of the artwork, has been sourced within a 10-mile radius. We want to spoil our guests with carefully selected products when they arrive. In nearby Faringdon, they make the wonderful Little Goat Company Soaps, which are in the shower rooms and Cotswold Lavender products offer you a touch of local luxury for your body.

Faringdon is also the birth place of the fudge and Granola that you will find in the kitchen and we purchase Cotswold coffee and UWE tea which is also sourced within this wonderful area.

Lovely cottage but on a busy road

The cottage is lovely. Very comfortable and homely. Comfortable bed and living room- and great outdoor space. Easy enough to cook meals in the kitchen area too. The rooms are beautifully decorated and it is in a great location to explore the fantastic surrounding areas.

Barnsley village itself is goregeous and there is a nice pub a 2-3 minute walk away. Check in and check out were very easy and Karen left us a lovely welcome pack for when we arrived.

However the cottage is located on a busy road and the windows are all very thin. Therefore you can hear the traffic all day and it's pretty busy from 6am till 11pm. I am a light sleeper and even my ear plugs didn't help much!
The other thing to mention is the television- it is very temperamental- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't....

We visited in August and it was lovely weather. However it was still pretty cold in the cottage so something to bear in mind.... There are radiators and a log fire so hopefully that would keep you warm in winter.

We enjoyed our stay but would not stay again unfortunately due to the road.

Idyllic two weeks for two couples in this gem of a cottage. A roaring fire and comfy beds awaited us each evening. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals although there is an absolutely gorgeous pub within walking distance that serves delicious food & drink. The only minor issue is traffic noise, but the charm of this place more than makes up for that. Superb holiday!!

We had an enjoyable stay in Claypot Cottage which we found to be ideal in size and resource for the three of us (I'd say any more would have been a struggle). It is located next to a busy road which was noisy at times, but overall the location proved ideal for exploring The Cotswolds. There was some construction work ongoing at the rear of the cottage and the garden was in an unkempt condition partly as a result of the works. The builders did not cause an issue but a significant problem due to the works that did, was a lack of secure parking and this meant we had to park two cars on the busy roadside.
Overall, cleanliness was good, however a couple of internal bins had not been emptied before our arrival and some resources were missing, but we were satisfied with the response from the owner showing a willingness for good customer service.
If we had been there when the works had finished and the garden in good condition, I would say Claypot Cottage would have been good value.

It would be inappropriate to give a review. We stayed during a period when there was building work at the rear of the property and the garden was dug up to provide services to the new building. Had the weather been better we would have been extremely annoyed at the lack of privacy in the garden and frequent interruptions.

A very pleasant stay in a lovely cottage. Well situated for exploring the Cotswolds.

We really enjoyed our stay at claypot cottage, we were staying for a wedding locally near the village of Bibury. This was the perfect place to stay and explore the cotswolds. All of the rooms were great and we loved the cosiness of the whole cottage and we would definitely look to stay here again if we come back to the cotswolds.

This was a warm, bright and inviting cottage. We had excellent communication with the owner throughout the booking process. It was conveniently located near Cirencester and there was lots of excellent activities to do locally. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were very comfortable and we slept very well.

Used as a base for walking and exploring the area. Ideal for a family of 4. Lovely back garden area to sit in the evening. Very clean and really handy welcome pack with all essentials for your first couple of days. Owner was there and helpful when we needed anything but was not intrusive.

We had a wonderfully relaxing long weekend at the cottage. The weather was good so we were able to spend time in the garden which is so peaceful. The cottage is beautifully presented with different themes in each room. The kitchen lacks for nothing and the coffee machine was a lovely extra touch.
The location of the cottage is a short drive from the M5 and easy to find. Bibury is a 10 minutes up the road and well worth a visit. We had a lovely afternoon tea at Barnsley House & Spa which is a few minutes walk from the cottage.
Highly recommend this cottage.

We were desperate to get away for a short break after the long COVID lockdown. We wanted somewhere central to the Cotswolds and after a long search my wife found Claypot. Needless to say it was exactly what we wanted as a very comfortable base to tour the towns and villages. The Cottage was very well decorated and comfortable. Having two allocated off-road parking spaces was great and the rear garden was very nice. The owner was very helpful and communicative. Tv reception was great but internet not so good.

The cottage and the garden are beautiful. Very cosy and unlike some cottages we have stayed in, it feels more like someone's home rather than a holiday let. Barnsley is a pretty village and excellently positioned for day trips - nothing seemed more than a half hour drive away.
Karen has added some very nice touches throughout along with a lovely welcome pack (excellent marmalade!)
Thoroughly recommended, we had a great time despite the unseasonably bad weather.

The property certainly has been restored to a high standard.
The peaceful cottage garden is very interesting, with something new spotted on each walk-round and plenty of native fruit and shrubs/flowers.
Ample parking at rear and an excellent pub with outside space only 150 yards away.

A really lovely cottage, beautifully furnished and equipped. Our host was prompt and efficient in all communication. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Nice touches like fresh flowers, board games and a welcome pack of goodies - Prosecco, snacks and treats, Nespresso capsules, ice creams in the freezer, milk and quality local soaps and lavender toiletries to name just a few items - made our stay really comfortable. We visited in February so the garden was not at its best but that was more than made up for by the lovely fireplace with wood and kindling ready for us. It is located in a quintessentially Cotswold village with a lovely pub five minutes walk away and lots to see and do within a few minutes drive. We will definitely be back.

The cottage is beautiful and cosy. We enjoyed our stay and would revisit. The cottage is central of the Cotswolds and most places are reached in 45mins by car. Parking is also available at the back of the cottage.

Claypot Cottage is a charming, warm, cosy cottage with lovely, quality furnishings. It has a well maintained garden garden with outside dining in the summer months and a parking area for two cars. Is in walking distance of the village pub.

all the above a couple of small negatives - the cottage was difficult to find at night as there are no street lights it would benefit from a good clear sign on the door or gate (no latch on the front gate) well lit if possible as it is a busy road and traffic travels quickly so stopping to search for an address is not easy. the bedroom windows would benefit from stays so that the rooms could be aired at night (a little stuffy). well furnished and comfortable cottage. the village is very quiet the local pub is friendly with good food. no local shop so no papers or groceries etc

The cottage and facilities were excellent, clean well appointed. the two double bedrooms (one en-suite) were great. Clean bedlinen and comfortable. The single room downstairs was great for my mother (94 years) as she had downstairs access to the second shower room. The general condition was excellent with a well equipped kitchen, although we did have slight issues with the microwave and the coffee machine.

The garden is magical and in the summer would be amazing, but November is not the best time to enjoy it.

Parking was great no problems.

This cottage is set in the picturesque Cotswold village of Barnsley and has easy ace to excellent restaurant facilities in the village pub and hotel.

The cottage was the icing on the cake for our grand-daughters wedding in the village church.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, 2 adults and a toddler. It is beautifully furnished and decorated and is cute and cosy. Karen was also super friendly and helpful through booking and our stay. The village is small with a great pub literally 2 mins walk which is super handy and there are lots of sights and attractions in the area, including famous Bibury which is the next village. It's worth knowing that the cottage is right on a fairly busy road and the windows are single glass in the bedrooms and don't close all the way so it was somewhat noisy for us. Sadly the garden was also looking quite tired and overgrown during our stay which was a shame as it didn't lure us to spend time out there. Overall though a good stay.
