The cottage was just what we were looking for and well equipped with everything we needed. Great location and surrounded by some amazing scenery and wildlife.
Very clean and tidy and Alison was very helpful getting things in for for us as our ferry was late in the evening.
I would recommend the cottage and will be looking to stay next year.

We had a good stay at the cottage but they were a few issues, the first one being the windows, upstairs and downstairs, if you opened them they wouldn’t close again even with some force, the fridge didn’t work to begin with and we had to discard a lot of food and lastly the car park, other people used our spaces.

Thank you very much Elizabeth for your feedback. It was a pleasure to welcome you all to Sanaigmore Cottage. I am sorry that you encountered the issues raised and I have done a little investigation. The windows do close tightly using a mechanism with a small arrow on it. Following your issues, we have printed off a small card which highlights how the mechanism works so that other guests will not have the same problem.
In relation to the fridge, I confirm that it was working perfectly. Sometimes the bread bin can be pushed back against the wall where the on/ off switch for the fridge freezer is. We have now moved the bread bin so that this cannot happen.
In relation to parking, we rely on all of our guests to be considerate and usually there are sufficient spaces for everybody. It really depends on how many vehicles guests bring with them and how they park.

When my son and I arrived in Port Charlotte rather earlier than expected and before the rest of the family we went to enquire of Alison the whereabouts of the keys, expecting that we could gain entry later. She told us that the cottage was already prepared for us and we could settle in hours before the scheduled time . As always the property was in immaculate condition and we were ready for the rest of the family to arrive. The cottage is very well equipped and enjoys one of the best locations on Islay. The bedrooms are well furnished and have very comfortable beds. The kitchen has all modern appliances and like the rest of the house has an air of spaciousness.

The cottage was perfectly place for what we wanted to do on Islay. It was comfortable, warm and always had lots of hot water. However we felt the property was looking a little tired in places, also parking was sometimes difficult due to other guests poor parking.

We were not met on arrival as stated. We waited in car park till allowed time and eventually realised door was unlocked. We expected someone to arrive but no one did. There were phone numbers provided but I still think there should have been an initial contact.
I checked the fire safety systems and discovered both front bedroom windows could not be opened sufficiently to allow escape if required. The twin bedroom did allow this but as this room is at the top of the stairs I still would have expected at least one of the front bedrooms to allow escape. The hinges on the windows are rusty and require oiling. That may allow them to open but I am unsure.
The remote for the TV did not work and the batteries were leaking. We replaced these. The TV defaults to audio description and it took us a day to work out how to sort this. You need to reset every time you change a channel which was a bit frustrating.
The cooker hood did not work.
The door from the kitchen to hall need to be fixed as it clicks open as soon as you you shut the back door. I don’t think in its current condition it would act as a fire door.
The house was very well appointed and we did enjoy our stay. However the fire safety issues in particular unsettled us. Yes we should have phoned the contact numbers but we did keep expecting someone to turn up and then as the week went on it didn’t seem to be worth it.

Thank you Andrew for taking the time to outline your concerns following your stay with us. Firstly, I must apologise unreservedly for the initial lack of communication with you and I have tried to establish what went wrong. Our system is set up to send guests an automated update two days prior to arrival to confirm the slight change to our arrival procedures necessitated by the Covid Guidance for self caterers.
The update is that we shall leave the property open and invite guests to go straight in and make themselves at home. It also lists contact numbers for me and Alison, our manager, with an invitation to contact us in case assistance is required during your stay.I can see that for reasons that are beyond me, this update was not sent out to you and I must accept full responsibility for not checking that this had been done. Please accept my sincere apologies for this oversight.
Both Alison and I are on call to assist guests 24 hours per day and our numbers are displayed within the cottage and within correspondence. Alison is only 5 minutes away from the cottage and is always on hand to assist. She always goes above and beyond to assist all of our guests in Port Charlotte. When we did not hear from you, we presumed that all was well.
In relation to your specific concerns, I confirm that all of our properties comply with current fire safety regulations and that the safety of all of our guests is of paramount importance. The windows which you referred to have a mechanism with an arrow on it on the left hand side. When the arrow is pushed, the windows extend fully and can even be cleaned from the inside. If we had been made aware of your concerns, we would have been able to allay these without delay.
Similarly, in relation to the other matters raised by you, I can only apologise, but these were matters which we were not aware of. The issue with the TV and the remote could have been sorted within minutes.
That said, I am delighted that despite these matters, you found the house to be very well- appointed and that you managed to enjoy your stay. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back on another occasion.

Sanaigmore cottage is the perfect place for a great holiday on the island of Islay. The property itself is relatively new and is of modern design but blends well with the conservation village very nearby. The rooms are spacious and the furniture and furnishings are of a very high standard. The parking area next to the house is particularly welcome as the road outside is narrow and has to cope with farm as well as tourist traffic.

We cannot fault anything about this cottage. It felt like a home from home. 3 couples comfortably can stay and not feel on top of each other. Having our own toilet facilities with their being 3 toilets was a huge bonus. Everything you need is here. The location is brilliant as you are just 3 mins walk to all the facilities in Port Charlotte. Would recommend these cottages to everyone.. well done Margaret and her team

The cottage is easy to find and welcomes you at first sight. Generous rooms and infrastructure of the kitchen. You can eat breakfast in the sunrise, if you wake up early enough. But it‘s so silent, that we could only eat outside, when the sun was at the sky. But for May it was warm enough. The style of the facilities is in total like on the pictures, so there is no hidden secret. At the end it‘s a location I would book again. Thank you.

The cottage we stayed in had everything we could possibly need for enjoying a comfortable stay, from cooking accessories to cozy and modern living room, dining room and comfy beds with good quality linens. We could really tell there was lot of thought put into every space; speakers, tv, dvd, books, a lot of natural light and a really well located town with a pub and supermarket just steps away. This cottage was a great base to read a good book, cook or rest after a day out exploring Islay.

we've stayed in many holiday lets around the world but this one actually felt like a home. very comfortable, superbly equipped including all those little extras such as cleaning materials, clingfilm ,foil etc etc that you usually have to buy unless you remembered them. modern fixtures throughout and an excellent kitchen superb bedrooms with quality beds and bedlinen ,four bathrooms and a handy sofa bed downstairs as well. Well located with ample parking ,a short walk to the village shop and pub the booking process was no problem at all and as our flight arrived before the official check in time the keys were made available to us early to drop off bags and we were able to start our holiday right away. we were a party of 4 adults and have visited Islay several times

We stayed in Killinallan Cottage and Sanaigmore Cottage over our wedding weekend with friends and family.
The accommodation was amazing. We had folk coming and going for drinks, meals etc all weekend and it was so well equipped. We never even ran out of plates or glasses. It was so handy having a lovely seating area outdoor space too.
The owner was lovely to deal with and everything was just perfect. Cannot recommend highly enough.
