Booking process and pre-stay information was spot on, can't fault it.
Great location for Bourton-on-the-Water, Burford, Cirencester etc. We stayed at the cottage as we had a family wedding in Burford which is only a short drive away. Bourton-on-the-Water is a beautiful village, lots to do and see. The cottage has rustic charm with lots of great features i.e. an abundance of plate and glassware and nice touch having a canteen of cutlery for use. The cottage on the surface was fine; however, it is a bit tired and would benefit from a deep clean and better quality pillows. Apart from this we had a good stay, the cottage was lovely and warm and homely.

Cottage in an ideal place. Very steep hill coming back from Bourton to get back to the cottage. Cottage very dog friendly. Everything we needed. A little starter pack would have been ideal. Toilet downstairs aswell which was ideal. Mattress and pillows extremely soft. Nice family feel to the cottage. Owners approachable and friendly. Will be re booking.

This is a quaint cottage and we had an enjoyable few days there. It is some way out of Bourton which we didn’t mind but it’s a steep hill to walk in and out for those who may have mobility issues. The view is lovely and it was very peaceful.

The cottage itself has charm and character. The stairs are very steep (and creaky as is the whole cottage!) but this was advertised and didn’t bother us.

The biggest issue with this cottage is a lack of comfort. The beds are creaky, the mattresses lumpy and the pillows were very flat. We slept in the top bedroom and our daughter in the second bedroom and both, independently, complained of the same issues. The sofas were similarly old and quite uncomfortable. The bathrooms are perfectly adequate.

The kitchen contains all that is required but the fridge did leave a lot of water on the shelves and didn’t seem to keep things cold for long.

The garden is nice and peaceful.

Overall, we enjoyed our time in the Cotswolds but left quite tired from limited sleep and lack of comfort.

Firstly I would say only stay at this property if you would like to be conned out of a deposit! The owners lie through their teeth about issues “we” have caused so if you have any sense don’t stay here!! We were good people so wouldn’t complain when we got there about the faintest marks on bed linen and because we didn’t complain apparently they have to repurchase all the linen in the house even though one room wasn’t even used and had a door shut the whole time! They claimed we had left mud on a towel and when I asked for photo evidence of it not coming out they sent us a picture of the towel clearly unwashed and funnily enough “disposed” of it straight away.

Not only was the deposit situation a ruiner of this trip but I would also flag this place is NOT DOG FRIENDLY. We have a golden doodle so not small and the gate had such large gaps he ran into the fast 60mph road the house is on and almost died. As well as this there were mushrooms on the lawn we had to pick out as could be poisonous.

The house was quite dated, a lot smaller than pictures and stinks of smoke. The towels were like cardboard and were so hideously crispy and tiny.

Overall a bad property and please for your own sake don’t stay here!

We are really sorry to see this review given there is an ongoing dispute between yourself and the owner due to how the property had been left following your stay, and the damage caused and additional cleaning required. It is highly unusual for property owners to make a claim against part or all of a security deposit, however the preauthorised security deposit is there to offer protection to the property owners and helps to maintain the property for the benefit of future holiday guests in line with how the property was provided for your stay. The pre-authorised security deposit is outlined in our terms and conditions, along with the booking confirmation sent to you prior to your arrival. As stated in the description, this is a dog friendly cottage, allowing ‘2 medium sized dogs’, however the pet rules do need to be adhered to which sadly was not the case following your stay with evidence that your pets had been on the beds, as per the photos provided. We do ask that pets are not left unattended at any time for their safety and for respect of the property.

The cottage was nice but smaller than it looked so was a squeeze for five, especially in the living area and kitchen. The en-suite shower was particularly cosy which could be troublesome for many. It was in close proximity to the town but the cottage is on a steep hill which resulted in us driving on most occasions. The beds were also on the soft side but that’s personal preference.

On the whole a really enjoyable weekend and due the weather, we got the opportunity to spend most of the time sitting outside in the sun.

We found the cottage with no problem. Loved the views down to Bourton and across the garden and beyond. Everything we asked for was ready - kitchen, coffee maker, dishwasher, high chair, clean, comfortable bedding, great showers, downstairs loo.
The cottage is old and stairs were a bit narrow but my grandsons loved it. When the sun came out we played outside and watched the birds. Walking down the hill to Bourton was easy, only took a few minutes and we explored the public footpath back up. A lovely place to stay.

Really lovely cottage, great location. Used the what three words and found the cottage straight away. Angus and Kim were great in sorting out a small issue very efficiently. Would go back again.

We had the most incredible weekend away at the Holly Cottage. The beautiful, cosy and picturesque cottage made for a wonderful homely stay, equipped with an absolutely stunning Christmas tree! The cottage was clean, lots of information provided, great location & walking distance into Bourton On The Water and comfortable furnishings. The hosts were lovely and so helpful! We loved visiting this Cotswolds escape & we’re hoping to return next year!

Amazing location only about a 10-15minute walk into Bourton, but be aware it is uphill on the way back. The oven trays and the coffee machine need a clean, but all of the glassware and crockery were fine. Overall a lovely cottage and great value for money, perfect for what we needed on a long weekend. In Bourton we would highly recommend The Croft for breakfast or a mulled wine, and The Cornish Bakery for a coffee and pastry!

Overall our stay was disappointing for many reasons. To name a few, boiler off on arrival and the cottage was very cold, uncomfortable mattresses, poorly stocked kitchen equipment. Location is a bit out of the way, I think they should make it clear that ‘what three words’ is the only way you’ll find this cottage as we got lost using the postcode in our sat nav, the cottage wasn’t lit for the outside so very dark checking in.

We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend on our first visit to the Cotswolds. The cottage was everything we had hoped for. It was well appointed, great location.. a short walk to Bouton on the water where we found some greet pubs and places to eat. The maze is a must - great fun even for adults!
We were all very sad to leave and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again .

We had a lovely stay at Holly cottage. It was in a great location for walking down the quiet road to the village centre, the road is quite steep to walk back up though. The outside area was great for our 2 smallish dogs to have a run around. The boot room as you walk in is a fantastic asset with a downstairs toilet and lots of hooks for hanging coats, dog lead etc. Kitchen was very well equipped but there wasn’t a microwave. (We don’t use a microwave very often anyway) The cottage was roomy and clean. We had to stream TV, this is not something I’m used to, but got the hang of it. We gave the loft room and en-suite to our daughter to use to give her, her own space. My husband and I stayed in the double room. There wasn’t any storage in that room so had to use the wardrobe in the twin room which was fine but could have been awkward if someone was in there. The double bed we didn’t find very comfortable - a bit creaky, so we tried the twin beds but they were worse so back to the double we went. Our daughter did say her king bed was very comfortable. The stairs need to be taken with caution and the saniflo toilet in the loft can sometimes run too long, running a little water down the basin stops it. All in all we had a good stay and would stay again. The small issues didn’t bother us but might be useful to others. Also the window in the upstairs sitting area doesn’t close completely - needs looking at before winter sets in.

Everything we asked for and more. Lovely cottage with very comfortable beds. Nice and warm so we sat out in the garden. 5 mins drive to the village. Lovely pubs and restaurants to enjoy.

Overall the cottage was fine. However it was unusual not to find a microwave or hairdryer. The kitchen was clean (except oven tray that had been left dirty)but the house needed a bit more TLC. We were surprised to find dead house plants in en-suite and all others were in need to severe watering. The floorboards were lovely but noise level very disruptive in the first floor at night.
