Lammas Cottage is a beautiful retreat with a wealth of character and charm. This idyllic property boasts stylish interiors, cosy living areas and superb garden with beautiful countryside views, providing a peaceful spot to enjoy the summer sunshine. Located in the picturesque village of Blockley, this fabulous property is perfect for get togethers with loved ones.

Overall, very good - a nice, slightly quirky cottage in the countryside

Lovely cottage in a nice location with super views from the back over the fields and village below
As can often the case, the photos online give the cottage a larger feel, whereas in reality, it is quite compact - fully functional just a bit cosy in places, such as the three bedrooms and the stairs to the very top twin room - not a problem for us, however if you had limited mobility, perhaps not the cottage for you
We could not find a key to open the back door to the garden or the lock has had it
On arrival, in the dark, there was no sign of the keybox - it turns out it is out the back by the back door down the cobbled slope next to the front door - doing recall this being in the emails, but possibly I missed it
Small basket of logs for the log burner was very nice, but we used them on the first night and there were no more on site that we could find
Some of the pans under the hob have seen better days - good range otherwise, but some probably need replacing now
Perhaps time to take stock of the inventory on whole - for example, it sleeps six, however there were just four wine glasses
These are all just minor observations to help improve the experience - overall we had a lovely weekend at Lammas Cottage - thank you

Thank you David for your review of Lammas Cottage. We are delighted that you found the property to be cosy, to have super views and to be in a lovely location. The pre-arrival information email does confirm how to gain access to the property and the location of the keysafe. As per the property listing only an initial supply of wood is provided for the log burner, the shop in the village sells additional logs if needed. We will ask the property manager to check the crockery and glassware to ensure that there is at least 6 of everything. We do hope that you will be back to stay again soon!

The cottage was absolutely lovely. Loads of space and everything you could need there.
We were missing some refills and the contact was super helpful and dropped off what we needed that Sunday morning.
The views were stunning out the back and was lovely to see the field full of deer.

We had a lovely stay in the warm and cosy Lammas cottage. It was a great location to enjoy a walk from the start of the Cotswolds Way at the nearby village of Chipping Campden, plus a visit to the picturesque Broadway Tower. The cottage itself was comfortable, had a well equipped kitchen and lots of character. The bedrooms are certainly a bit tight, but that was all part of the charm of the place, and the beds are comfy. Can definitely recommend The Great Western Arms pub for good food and very friendly service just a few minutes stroll from the cottage.
We had a minor issue with a CO detector, which was attended to extremely quickly by the friendly and helpful MyClean service.

We adored this cottage! The views from every window are spectacular onto the Cotswold hills. Our family did not mind the quirks mentioned in previous reviews of such an old cottage (leaky tub faucet, bathroom door hard to unlock once closed). Every room felt snug and comfortable. The amount of living room furniture was perfect - there's clearly a TV area and also snug/reading area, so that worked for us. The wifi was indeed terrible, yet the weather was perfect during our stay. So we were pretty cut off from the world, but that was actually just fine. We took long walks on the public footpaths, explored the nearby towns, made delicious food in the well-equipped kitchen, and enjoyed the garden exploding with roses. We stayed a week and did not want to leave! I hope we get to return for an even longer stay.

Neglected Cottage - needs more upkeep and attention!

Lammas Cottage could be wonderful, but in the current state of neglect, it isn’t.

There was no welcome-sheet or written instructions to the house.
The TV doesn't work and the internet connection is pretty bad, within the 3 days we stayed, it was hit or miss, regardless of the weather (the care-taker which we informed immediately, blamed the bad connection on some rain the first evening, but it didn't get much better the following days.)

The living room feels cluttered, there is just too much furniture in an awkward setting. The sofas were dirty and stained.
There is a loo next to the living room which comes in handy, but be careful when closing it, you might get stuck.
The steps going down and up the house to 4 different levels are very narrow.

The shower and the bathroom tap are leaking – therefore a lot of water is wasted and as I gathered from other reviews, this problem has been going on for a while, instead of just getting it fixed.
There is mold in the shower.

The knives in the kitchen are useless, we couldn't even slice bread with them.
The kitchen is not stocked with necessities, not even salt, which we found out after we started to make pasta one evening…

The garden is lovely, but overgrown and there were no cushions (or information where they could be found).
There is a nice seating-area at the back of the garden, but you can´t really get there and with no cushions, you wouldn't want to.

Pros: The views are nice, the garden could be lovely once taken care of, it is quiet and the location in Blockley is great for exploring. But the owners need to step up and make their property more inviting – for 250 £/night it is not too much to ask for ongoing maintenance to make guests feel more welcome and comfortable.

Thank you Patrick for your review of Lammas Cottage. There is a welcome folder of helpful information at the property and it is usually left on the coffee table in the sitting area. The property manager has checked the TV and unfortunately it appears that it someone had switched it over from its usual setting which caused it not to work. The property is long and narrow so unfortunately there is no different way of setting out the sofas. The narrow and steep stairs are a traditional feature of an 1860's built property. The shower and tap leak has now been address by the property manager. We are sorry to hear that you found the knives to be blunt, if you had of reported this during your stay the property manager would have been happy to organise replacements for you. Cushions are sadly not provided for the outdoor furniture. We do hope that overall you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!
