Old Brewery house is a charming, characteristic property sitting in the tranquil grounds of Donnington Brewery overlooking a private lake and gardens and home to two resident peacocks. Seemingly miles from anywhere, yet right on the doorstep of Stow on the Wold, this charming Cotswold town offers a wide variety of shops, restaurants and eateries to please all.

The Old Brewery is sited in a complex of buildings from which a craft Brewery is operated, but there is no significant noise from those operations. The situation is delightful being well away from the road and near to a stream, but no guidance was given of finding access which involved going round to the back entrance, the front door being barred to guests. The accommodation is spacious with 4 bedrooms, two sitting rooms and a newly fitted kitchen. But apart from the kitchen the place is very tired and some of the beds long overdue for replacement. So, overall we enjoyed our stay but this was more to do with the location than the amenity of the property.

Four of us stayed for a long weekend and we absolutely loved the property, the peacocks, the huge trout in the lake and the peace and quiet.
The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher and two fridges - do bring kitchen roll, apart from that we had everything we needed.
The bedrooms are spacious, each with an en-suite, good levels of light. Comfortable beds, sufficient towels.
Lots of hot water and the heating works very well.
This is an old rustic farmhouse full of charm. We loved the wood burner, flooring, the cellar and the generous proportions - very roomy, exceptionally comfortable.
Our only niggle was an out of date TV arrangement, with no streaming available. TV controls didn’t work so a review and an update is needed for both the TVs in the two sitting rooms.

We were 5 friends having a mini break in the Cotswolds and Brewery House was a great base for this. We pretty much lived in the fab very well equipped kitchen and had wonderful gatherings around the huge table. We loved the history of the place and the Brewery Honesty fridge was a fantastic idea and we all got holiday mementos from there. Huge comfy beds gave us all some great nights sleep and plenty of bathrooms gave us all privacy. Lovely grounds with entertaining peacocks but weather was not kind so we didn’t wander around much. Stow is a wonderful town to visit just 5mins in the car and we can recommend The Sheep for dinner or the Porch House for drinks and plenty of shops and galleries to peruse. We drive to the park and ride and got the bus into Oxford and had a lovely day there. Also visited Snows Hill national Trust property which is a fascinating place within 15mins drive. On our way home popped to Diddly Squat Farm well worth it for the stunning breakfast rolls and cuppa in the barn - the car park attendant advised that Wednesday after 4pm is the best time of week to visit to avoid the massive crowds and tiny shop huge queues.

Lovely grounds outside. We enjoyed the peacocks and setting. Croquet on the lawn was fun. The Aga wasn't the easiest to cook on but we managed in the end. Kitchen would have benefited from a few more items. Eg there were only about x4 prosecco glasses and we had x8 adults staying. Also some more cups etc. The bedrooms were great and plenty of room.

We liked the big airy bedrooms, all ensuite, the kitchen table that we could all sit at and there were enough sofas for everyone to have a seat. The house was lovely and warm and very clean, we even got used to the range which was easy but slow. We enjoyed watching the peacocks and the lake and water wheel were very scenic. We didn't mind the activity from the Brewery, moving the barrels and deliverires etc, this was all well away from the entrance except for the last morning when there was a forklift moving stuff around as we were packing up. We didn't like the build of of peacock poo all over the entrance steps! The surrounding villages were well worth a visit. We enjoyed ourselves and would stay here again, we were an end of season stay so the house was needing a little TLC.

The Old Brewery House is sits amongst the buildings of the historic Donnington Brewery - including its picturesque spring-fed lake - and surrounded by beautiful countryside. An excellent location for walkers, stunning Cotswolds towns such as Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water are an easy walk away - along well marked paths, through lovely English countryside.

The house is charming and comfortable - think characterful Cotswolds farmhouse more than slick modern luxe - with more than enough space for eight adult guests in the communal spaces; all bedrooms are ensuite (and the ensuites are generous, not wash cupboards masquerading as bathrooms!) which is a real bonus. The house is a real haven away from the tourist bustle of the nearby towns - yet close enough to enjoy their excellent pubs, restaurants and shops.

Host Andy is outstanding; a font of local knowledge and excellent communicator, he showed us around the property, ensured we were comfortable and was super-accomodating when it came to check-in/ out. We were sad to leave.

What a fantastic place for a short break, apart from the challenge of the Aga ,we truly could not fault anything .Bedrooms were very bright and spacious. Location was perfect for shops and bars and restaurants .Absolutely loved the grounds, our (nearly 1 ) grandson loved the peacocks sitting outside the windows every day. The lake was beautiful with swans, duck's and fish swimming in it. There were also cows and horses nearby. The whole place was very peaceful except for the shrill peacock cries every now and again, but then that's nature. The brewery next door was not as noisy as we expected and the beers certainly went down a treat. Very easy website with precise information on the property as well as directions. Big thank you to Andy, the property manager for being so helpful. We would definitely look to return at a future date.

The old brewery house was an excellent place to spend a week in the Cotswolds. Everything we wanted to do and see was only a short drive away, and the property was very nice. The house had plenty of space for all of us and the kitchen was very well appointed. Andy was very helpful when we arrived and quick to respond to any questions. Our 1-year old daughter especially loved all the friendly peacocks.

We found the Old Brewery House a great place to stay. A very old building, the accommodation was quirky and comfortable. For a working brewery it wasn't noisy. The surrounding

The accommodation was as advertised and although we had some initial minor issues these were quickly sorted by Andy. The location was ideal for us as we were walking the Diamond Way and this accommodation is quite central to the walk route. The location, at the brewery, makes this a very pleasant and interesting place to stay.

Really lovely, spacious house set in the gorgeous brewery grounds. Lots of room for eight adults and two dogs.

The local area is beautiful and the peacocks add to the charm. Only, and in all respects tiny, downside is that the kitchen isn't equipped to cook for all the people in the house. There are enough plates and the like, but the hob is pretty tough to use and there aren't enough big pans/baking dishes etc.

Otherwise a really wonderful place and in a part of the world we'd love to return to.

Old Brewery House is nestled in picturesque quiet countryside next to an old working brewery. You have all modern conveniences in the midst of history. The brewery is well worth a visit where the brewer himself talks you through the process which has changed very little for 150 years.
It is ideal for long walks or short drives to nearby picture postcard villages. An ideal spot.

The cottage was very spacious and all bedrooms were large and had en-suites. The kitchen was well equipped and we found the aga fine, especially if you left it warm. Andy was more than helpful, especially with a water issue, he quickly came down and put this right. There is a little damp in one of the downstairs rooms that is not particularly nice to look at, but we had an amazing weekend making friends with peacocks, swans and geese!

We hired the house for a reunion of four couples for a long weekend.

The house is beautiful and there is plenty of space. It is an old house, so there are some rough edges as you would expect. The location being right next door to the brewery, is second to none and Andy was very helpful in getting us settled in and answering any questions we had.

I would recommend this property to larger groups and would not hesitate to return there.

Beautiful location and building , could do with the older areas being refreshed. The Range cooker proved to be a challenge and judging by the guest book this has been a long term problem. Bedrooms and bathrooms were all good and we enjoyed our stay.

Large comfortable property, great location, close to Stow. Andy who greeted us, with a warm welcome and explain how things worked, was around but not intrusive, if we needed any help. The wild life was fun to watch. Only minor negative was some of the soft furnishings i.e curtains and rails could do with an upgrade. The cooker was a challenge to use, never used one like it before, worked well once up to heat.

A great base for seeing the Cotswolds, we had a 4 day stay and the house was wonderful, spacious and comfortable and we enjoyed its situation next to the Brewery with the very friendly Andy to orientate us and show us how to work the lovely warm range cooker. Would recommend it to others, great for a house group with lots of double rooms all with bathrooms. many thanks for our stay.

We had a lovely stay at the Old Brewery. We were two families and there was loads of room for us all. Working out the ever hot oven took us a while but the instructions were there! All rooms are en suite and the sitting areas are comfy. The beer drinkers among us were happy to find some free beer from the brewery left for us with the option to buy more if we wanted to. The car charger was very convenient and efficient. Andy was very friendly and helpful with any info before and during our stay.

We spent the week here with family and were fortunate to have wonderful weather. This enabled us to take advantage of the most amazing setting. Sitting each night by the lake for a sundowner while watching the wildlife.
The house is characterful and very spacious with a well equipped kitchen.

Excellent house for our family reunion. Four large ensuite bedrooms and super sitting areas both inside and out. There is a wonderful lake to picnic by and another seating area by the river which is sunny at lunchtime. Very central for all parts of the Cotswolds . The cooker is slow to warm up but we were warned !! We really enjoyed our short break.

This home has lovely big rooms and lots of space, we found the cooker didn’t heat up and we ended up eating very late. Some of the areas could do with some tlc. The living room is large and there are plenty of seating,

The house is very comfortable and spacious. Lovely view over the lake, although it is a pity that walking by the lake is not allowed. It was the wrong time of year for us to make use of the garden but it looks like it would be pleasant in good weather. The peacocks were welcome visitors in the mornings! The kitchen is very well equipped but the range cookers are unsuitable for a holiday rental property as the hotplates and the ovens take so long to get to useful temperature - they do not suit the way that a holiday rental is used.

What a wonderful house! SO spacious! Fab location. We had a 3 and 7 year old and it worked perfectly, they especially loved the peacocks coming to say hello every morning. Fantastic service form Stay Cotswold and we will definitely use them again. Thanks guys! X

Plenty of room in this spacious property. Could benefit from some TLC. Cooker was difficult to master. If you dont want the hassle visit The Golden Ball in Lower Swell, only a 30 minute stroll down quiet country lanes. Excellent food and service and allergies well catered for.

Many thanks for your feedback, Paul. Old Brewery House has a double Everhot Range Cooker which can take some time to master but is a lovely traditional feature of countryside living. There are detailed instructions on how to use the Ranger Cooker available at the property and the Property Manager, Andy is also on hand and happy to help with any queries that guests may have. Overall, we’re pleased you had a great stay and enjoyed the convenience of The Golden Ball just a short walk away. We hope your group will be back to stay again sometime.

Old Brewery House was a wonderfully spacious but still very cosy venue for our family reunion. The property, situated in a lovely spot in the centre of the old brewery complex, was well equipped and scrupulously clean. A lovely Victoria sponge cake was waiting for us on our arrival and Andy, the property manager was friendly and very helpful.

The Brewery House is super place to stay in many ways. The site is very quiet, rural and picturesque and the house is well equipped and very spacious. It is ideal for couples as each bedroom has an en suite bathroom.
There is plenty to do in the area and lots of excellent walks. There are several National Trust places worth visiting, especially Hidcote if visiting late Spring or Summer.

(The house could do with a lick of paint in places and a couple of tablespoons would have been very useful!)

Generally very satisfactory. An interesting property in a beautiful location. We had issues with the cooker in determining the temperature and we felt the quality of beds/bedding could be upgraded. We must praise Andy who was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable holiday- the tour of the brewery was the icing on the cake.

We enjoyed our stay at Old Brewery House very much. It was very clean and well equipped. The bedrooms were all of a good size and comfortable. The cooker took some getting used to, being of a Rayburn/Aga type, but it worked well. The logs for the fire were appreciated. It's a very old house and the condition is as would be expected, but it was ideal for our party of 8. A lovely quiet location, with lake and river. Very picturesque.

Old Brewery house was great for an 80th birthday get together. Andy was more than helpful and was always willing to answer any queries we had. The building was a little tired but clean and comfortable. A tour round the brewery was interesting and the men ( and some of the women) enjoyed the beer! There were some items lacking in the kitchen but a check by the management could remedy that.

Eight of our family stayed at the old Brewery House for a 3 day break and we all had a fabulous time. The house is extremely spacious and is well equipped with everything needed.
We took advantage of the beer brewed on site too.

Extended family of 6 people aged 9 to 70 stayed for a long weekend. Weather was awful and it was perfect to stay warm and cosy in what is a fairly large but very thought through cottage with plenty of nooks and crannies to entertain kids while the adults huddled around the fireplace. Andy was as helpful as other reviews have mentioned, and some more. We enjoyed walking around the pond, the river, and spotted the peacocks on a number of occasions. We will need to come back in summer, bet it must be so pretty..,

We stay here every year & it never fails us! Peace & quiet, peacocks, log fire, two sitting rooms, and best of all for us (8 women) all the beds can be split into singles - hard to fine elsewhere.

We had a lovely stay in the Old Brewery House, perfect for 4 couples plenty of space. The kitchen was very well equipped and we made good use of it cooking a celebratory birthday dinner.
Our contact Andy was very helpful and informative about the property and we all agreed that we would not hesitate to stay there again.
StayCotswolds were excellent, as we had to change the date of our original booking due to the COVID restrictions, so a thank you to them for a seamless transfer.

Extremely spacious, especially the kitchen, more than sufficient space for the average family. Takes a while to take in all the rooms as being an old building (like a large farm house), there are lots of ups and downs with nooks and crannies !
Outside space is ample for two vehicles with an interesting garden and area to sit and relax by the river. A very isolated and quiet position, the working brewery next door ,is not a problem !
The best equipped kitchen we have encountered- would loved to have stayed longer. So will return !

Good location for visiting any part of The Cotswolds. Large house with good sized rooms and excellent outdoor space for games particularly croquet (equipment provided, also badminton). Kitchen dinning area well laid out and lovely and sunny in the mornings. Slight noise from the work that had to be done outside towards the end of our stay but didn't really impact on us. Had more of an issue with visitors to the brewery and walkers wandering down our side of the driveway. More than happy to be next to a working brewery but maybe better direction for visitors? We did have a lovely week and having access to a very good local beer was a bonus! Particularly enjoyed seeing the flocks of geese fly over at sunset.

We stayed at The Old Brewery House as a family group of 8. Andy is great and answered our questions both before arrival and whilst we were there. He was so helpful - thanks Andy. The house is very well equipped and being so spacious it felt really comfortable. The gardens and outside space is well kept and we spent many happy hours out there. It is lovely and quiet, so feels very peaceful and relaxing. The location is great to access Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, The Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water and slightly further afield to Cleve Hill and Cheltenham. The beer went down well too.

Wow... the property is picture perfect Cotswolds, the Brewery House is warm, cosy and inviting. It feels like a fancy home away from home and it’s so easy to relax. We stayed here after a month traveling in Europe and Brewery House was the perfect place to unwind - and dare I say - the best part of our entire trip.

Andy seems to get a lot of great reviews too and it’s all true. Careful trying his beer though as you’ll be hooked!

For the second time we stayed in the Old Brewery House for Christmas together with family visiting from overseas and all voted it a great success. The house is large and comfortable and easily absorbed the extra people who visited us meaning that on one occasion 17 people sat down for lunch with plenty of plates, glasses, knives, forks etc. Andy was, as previously, extremely helpful and provided us with an additional table. The Everhot cooker presented a bit of a problem but, once it was heated up, the four ovens were much appreciated and enabled us to cook a perfect turkey and crispy roast potatoes as well as all the other traditional Christmas food. It was lovely to look out on the lake and see such a variety of water birds as well as peacocks immediately outside the door.

This was our bi-annual "Family Holiday" - 7 of us. A really fantastic location. The grounds were stunning and we had a great deal of fun playing croquet. One small minus point was that we would've preferred the BBQ area to be located nearer the house than it was. A bit of a trek carrying things to and fro from the kitchen. The house was very spacious. All the bedrooms were such a good size. And lots of room to sprawl out downstairs too. The Brewery house was central for many places to visit in that area. Not that far to anywhere. The Aga in the kitchen took some getting used to - but we succeeded in the end! Andy - the property manager was excellent. Such a help and so understanding in every way. Definitely one of our best family times.

We stayed here with a bunch of NCT friends and babies for a weekend early July and could not have wished for a more lovely setting. We barbecued and played in the garden, played cards in the living room, had brunch all together in the large kitchen and walked around the beautiful surroundings to see the brewery, the peacocks on the lawn and the geese on the pond.
We were very pleased with our choice and would recommend it to any group looking for a charming getaway in the cotswolds.

Lovely house. Four bedrooms with own en-suite made is easy for our guests with the bridesmaids staying.
Andy very helpful and the beer went down well at the wedding reception.
Two downsides. One several people follow the beer for sale sign, buy beer, drink it by the lake so not very private
Two there is a lot of giant hog weed in the garden, the sap of this plant can burn the skin.

Our party of 8 ( 4 couples) celebrated my sons 30th birthday and Easter weekend at The Brewery....we had a magical visit....

The Brewery is even prettier in person than in photos...it is an Idyll, a fairytale spot with a river, croquet lawn & ducks & swans all going to greet you...as well as cows in the field next store...The 4 bedrooms rooms are all large (super kings) that can be unzipped for singles if needed....with pretty modern bathrooms...the beds comfortable and lots of linens and duvets to cosy up in.....The kitchen is so well equipped and there is an outdoor bbq...the living rooms and smaller den (our guys dubbed the " man cave) are so well done ( there is a fire place in the living room which works beautifully) There are gorgeous country walks, quiet and a fabulous real brewery right next door...we never heard any noise.....If there house were for sale, I want to get it....we ALL said we'd be back...we had a terrific time.....blissful...I recommend highly!
