We arrived at Star Cottage on a blustery December evening and has we stepped into the cottage were welcomed by a beautifully decorated ,cosy comfortable and warm home from home feeling. The cottage was well equipped so we were able to cook. It was ideally located so we did not have to travel far to get to some of the villages. Our stay was delightful and a lovely star to the Christmas festivities.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break away in the Cotswolds in Star Cottage. The cottage was very cosy and beautiful, clean and tidy and a great location for visiting the nearby villages and sights. We had all the information we needed for an enjoyable break. The red lion pub nearby was beautiful with great food and friendly staff and we would highly recommend this cottage to others in the future, and hopefully return there ourselves!

Bread orange and milk a lovely thought furniture a little tired for comfort The downstairs shower needs attention ie could not raise shower head as I am 6ft tall and a shelf for soaps kitchen lovely bedrooms OK

This is our second time at Star Cottage and it was just as good as last time. Clean, well equipped and very comfortable beds. Goods night sleep for all our exploring!
Little Compton is an excellent base to visit all the Cotswolds towns and villages in the area. Also there are alot of NT properties in the area to visit.
The only negatives we had were the pressure in the bathroom taps. Water runs very slow. Also the bath is very slippery. Really needs a rubber bath mat to sit on when having a bath! That said these couple of things didn’t spoil our week there and we will be back soon!!!

Thank you for a lovely stay at star cottage. It was in the perfect location to explore the Cotswolds and had lots of lovely charm and character.

I felt some soft furnishings needed replacing and the damp is a big problem. My toddler suffers from viral wheeze and I was concerned this could cause an issue. I hope this is helpful, honest feedback.

A good garden for dogs with lots of sitting areas.

The only comment is the taps in the downstairs toilet could not be turned on and off easily and there was only a small amount of water coming through to wash hands

This cottage was everything we hoped for and more. Quintessential Cotswold look, the interior was styled perfectly, very homely feel and all the equipment in the kitchen that you’d need. Linen and towels were of high quality and there was even first aid kits.The garden needed a bit of weeding, but we spent some relaxing time out there watching Robins feeding their young only feet away. There were great walks nearby for us and the dog and the village was ideally situated for trips out. Hannah the agent responded to our enquiries before hand very swiftly.
All in all a great cottage and we hope to return again.

Star cottage is a quintessential Cotswold cottage with bags of old world charm that has been sympathetically updated to cater for guests. The cottage offered good accommodation for two couples with excellent facilities.
The garden was private - excellent for relaxing.
Our stay was made very easy by having a good contact in Hannah who looked after us very well and left us a good starter pack.
We would be happy to return.

This is by far one of the loveliest cottages we have stayed in. If you want somewhere in a quiet and pretty village, with walks from the door and village pubs nearby, this is the place to book. It has everything you will need and was spotless. We have nervous dogs and with the cottage being away from the road and a secure back garden it was ideal. Was reluctant to leave and will definitely be booking again. Lovely and helpful staff at Stay Cotswold.

Viajamos desde Sevilla para el puente de Andalucía.
Buscábamos descanso, naturaleza y belleza, y lo encontramos ❤️
Ha sido uno de los viajes más bonitos que hemos hecho.
La casa es un primor, un ejemplo claro de estilo y belleza, acogedora y cómoda, te abrazaba tras una jornada larga.
Descansábamos frente a la chimenea con una copa de vino y buena música.

Ir por las carreteras viendo caballos, zorros, ciervos.... ha sido una delicia, los pueblos que hemos visitado nos han dejado con la boca abierta, Bourton on the water es como estar en un cuento

Los restaurantes y pubs donde hemos estado, de 10, con una atención y servicio genial, los desayunos y almuerzos riquísimos.

Allí te olvidas de las prisas, del móvil y sólo quieres admirar el buen hacer y ser plenamente consciente de ello.

Recomiendo los Cotswolds, la casa Star Cottage y Staycotswolds.

We had the most amazing time at this cottage, we rented it to spend the new years with our friends and our kids and it was truly magical.
The cottage has absolutely everything you could possibly need, including a nice welcome food pack (milk, eggs and bread). It’s really close to a few cute villages including Broadway which is a must visit!
Hannah, the person I was in contact with was absolutely amazing, she was very responsive and nice, and even shipped me the blackout curtain I left behind!! If I could leave 8 stars I would ☺️

We enjoyed the stay at Star Cottage very much. The cottage was cosy and comfortable; and well equipped and stocked with everything we needed. In terms of location, the cottage was also easily accessible and we had no problems checking in on our own even though it was night-fall when we first arrived at the cottage. My family rated Star Cottage as the best accommodation in our recent trip to UK !

Star cottage is in an excellent location to visit all of the main cotswold hot spots, unfortunately I do not think the owners have maximised the opportunity to entice visitors back time and time again.
On 1st approach the garden is overgrown and looks unloved, this is your shop window and it's the 1st impression is not great.
The cottage itself is spacious and well equipped.
Once we arrived we noticed that the house itself was cold, so we thought we would light a fire and warm the place up, sadly the owners had only left 5 logs of wood and no fire lighters or Kindle, it would have been nice if the fire had been pre-prepared and was ready to go, so no fire for us.!!!
The radiators were programmed at a low level so we just had to put on extra clothing.
The kitchen is well stocked albeit a little tired, the pots and pans had not been cleaned properly so we had to wash up before preparing our evening meal, so all in all not a great start.
There are some lovely walks nearby including a leafy lane walk to Chastleton.
If its location you want then this is ideal, as long as you are prepared to compromise on the standard of the accommodation.
We paid a lot of money for a 4 day break and I do not think the cottage justified the cost.
I would not recommend this cottage, but would recommend the area.

Great location in quiet village for exploring Cotswolds. Well equipped and homely feel. Great set up for taking dog on holiday with partly tiled flooring downstairs. Could do with replacing stained rugs and a dehumidifier. We only used front garden which would benefit from removal of a couple of overmature trees and maintenance; previous guests had sadly not cleared up after their dogs in back garden so we didn't use it. Very cosy in the evening after day exploring and easy parking right outside.

The cottage is in a lovely location but the lounge smelt a bit damp. Might be different in winter! Very homely touches, nice welcome gifts of bread, orange and eggs.
The steps in the garden are quite slippy when wet and the steps up were loose. Maybe take a torch if you’ve a dog, there was no outside light working and the torch provided was dead.

Fantastic stay at Star Cottage
What a lovely home from home with many thoughtful touches - especially the robes and coffee machine with pods!

We would recommend a visit to Stow on the Wold to Lucy’s Tearoom for a cream tea and to Jeremy Clarkson’s infamous Diddly Squat farm shop.

In the evenings, we had great meals at the Black Bear (Moreton in Marsh), the Kings Head (Bledington) and the Red Lion (Long Compton) which were all dog friendly with lovely food.

The cottage is perfectly situated to visit the best that the Cotswolds has to offer - a real star!

What a fabulous cottage, in the pretty village of Little Compton, with its lovely village walks, beautiful church (St Denys) and a great little pub (dogs only allowed in garden). So.many thoughtful touches, welcome pack, dressing robes, plenty tea, coffee, milk etc and we'll stocked cupboards with herbs , spices , oils etc.
Very close to Daylesford Organic Farm Shop and cafe , Moreton in Marsh and 20 minute drive to Broadway and its gorgeous hotel the Lygon arms. Lots of lovely pubs close by like the dog friendly horse and groom in Upper Doddington.
The cottage was nipping clean, and I felt comfortable with my 2 dogs there. Front garden beautiful (dogs can escape though), back garden totally dog secure even for my little Jack Russell.
The things that could have made it better would have been use of a vacuum cleaner, and a small amount of fire wood as the weather was inclement and who doesn't like a cosy woodburner stove.
Would definitely recommend as it was perfect.

Star cottage is clean comfortable and well appointed. Unfortunately the shower in the upstairs bathroom does not work and the shower downstairs has very low pressure. The beds are comfortable and the cottage is well equipped. We were disappointed to have to remove 2 lots of dog waste from the garden on arrival.

Sadly after only one night of our 3 night stay that was booked , we had to return home due to family trauma. This was very difficult as obviously we had paid a considerable amount for our stay.

We have stayed at the cottage before and we find it very comfortable and easily accessible to various villages etc. We did find the lounge in particular rather cool, due to horrendous weather, so a small fan heater might have been useful. The log basket contained 3 small logs and there didn't appear to ge any firelighters etc.

Every bit as special as we expected. Perfect size, perfect setting. Ultra dog friendly and safe. For once a holiday cottage that gets its priorities correct, and supplies a coffee maker!
Comments, not criticisms , we found the heaters difficult to adjust , not sure if they are on timer. In bedroom we used it woke us up around 12.30 am every night flashing which we could only stop by switching it off no problem as it was cosy warm.
As has been said before, the trees in the front garden need to be cut back as they really do make the rooms, particularly the dining room very dark, detracting from the beauty of this lovely room.
I was sad not to find the Church open as the stained glass looked stunning from outside, something to look out for if visiting at a weekend.
All in all a lovely property Thank You

Myself husband and our springer spaniel had a outstanding stay at Star Cottage the minute we started walking up the front garden you had the wow factor, on entering the cottage it was like a home from home the icing on the cake was having a log burner coming back from being out from long walks it was lovely to cosy up on the settee with the lovely warmth from the log burner. We came with all our own provisions but everything was provided if needed even down to dog treats and we also had a welcome pack, the back garden was enclosed and would be a proper sun trap in the summer we can not praise the cottage enough and we can not wait to return again.

Lovely home. Cute, tiny and chic. Everything we need were available. However, the living room was cold as we dont know how to on the fire place.. Never used a fire place before. Called the host but no reply.

Apart from tht, we enjoyed the place.

Star Cottage, lived up to its name, what a star. Idyllic, comfortable, welcoming, perfect. It couldn't have been better, everything was taken care of, the goodies in the kitchen to the comfort of the bedroom, the spacious bathroom.
So much space in the cottage as well, it is the best of places

Would highly recommend staying here! We had a fantastic few days away and the cottage felt home from home! Decorated beautifully and a lovely set back from the road cottage. We went in February but would be gorgeous in summer too! Good distance to lots of different places (no more than 5-10 mins drive) so worked really well if you want to visit places… or stay put!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Star Cottage. It is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in. Very cosy, has everything you would need as a home from home and very close to a number of places to visit. The cottage is in a very quiet location which made for a very relaxing break.

Star cottage is very cosy and comfortable, well equipped and perfect if you are taking your dog as a front and back enclosed garden. There is a local pub 2 minute walk away, it wasn't open when we visited but this was because of being quiet in January. Surrounding areas are beautiful to visit like Stow in the Wold. Hannah was very helpful and quick to answer questions. We would love to stay again.

Absolutely idyllic setting and beautiful cottage with everything (and more) you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Cottage is spacious but cosy and the little touches including the Christmas tree, candles, fairy lights and food provisions etc. were wonderful. Log burner was fab and beds are super comfy. Garden is completely enclosed and house is set back from the road so ideal for peace and quiet for humans and dogs! Plenty of amazing walks on the doorstep and local pub was wonderful!

It was a wonderful cottage for my family and I. Everything about it was amazing, the dining area, living room, kitchen, bedrooms and even the front and back yards. Loved the Christmas tree in the living room as we visited in December. Board games were available and we had a good time playing them. Thank you Star Cottage!!

This was our fourth visit to Star Cottage.
After our last visit we highlighted a few issues that had detracted from our stay. I am very pleased to say that all but one of the issues has been resolved.
The only outstanding issue is that the gentle drying cycle on the washer dryer does not work.
We really enjoyed our stay and were disappointed to have to leave early for an important family matter.
We are planning to visit again next year.

The cottage was nicely presented and comfortable with everything provided for our stay. However, the front garden now looks nothing like the picture, with large conifers and overgrown bushes close to the house. This makes the dining room extremely dark with the lounge not much better, which was a real shame; we quite often take my elderly mum with us but she has very little vision and would have really struggled, even with the lights on. The bedrooms had a lovely light and were extremely well presented, with very comfortable beds, if maybe a few too many cushions! The rear garden is also overgrown and so we didn’t use the outside space as it felt so claustrophobic. However, it was extremely quiet in the village with some lovely areas to walk the dog. It is also in a good location to explore the Cotswolds and a bit too convenient to visit Daylesford Organic food shop!

A gardener is appointed to attend every 4-6 weeks. As the gardener needs access via the cottage, this can be difficult to schedule with back to back bookings, however I can confirm that the gardener is due this weekend to ensure the garden is looking it’s best. We’re pleased you found the location to be excellent and enjoyed the nearby farm shop, Daylesford.

The cottage had everything we could wish for in helping to make our stay comfortable. From the squishy cushions on the sofa, the fabulously beautiful decor, the scented diffusers, the super-comfy beds, the well-equipped kitchen (including a coffee-machine), a lovely little garden - and of course there’s so much to do in the area (including the pub just a 2 minute walk down the road)! Just a perfect base!

A wonderfully appointed cottage in a quiet village. The cottage is cosy and extremely comfortable (the beds especially so) and is very well equipped with kitchen equipment and basic provisions. Fresh bread, milk, orange juice and butter was a nice unexpected touch. We had a minor problem with the shower but that was resolved quickly and efficiently and the bottle of wine that was supplied for the inconvenience was again welcome but not expected. Overall, our stay was most enjoyable and we will not hesitate to come back for another visit.

If you’re looking to escape from the madness of life for a few days this is the perfect location to explore the Cotswolds. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with walks on the doorstep and further afield. Garden spaces are lovely and the cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need, including the kitchen sink! Highly recommended.

This was our third stay in Star Cottage and we have another booked for October. So, obviously, we like the cottage and The Cotswolds. However, while on previous visits we had no issues there are three problems that we need to give feedback on.
1. The shower in the downstairs utility room is not fit for purpose. The lack of water pressure means that the flow of water is not much better than a trickle. The control to vary the flow is not working and it is not possible to regulate the temperature on either the high or low settling; the water fluctuates between scalding and freezing. Also, the drain was somewhat blocked and we needed to clear it with 2 litres of bleach.
2. The freezer in the utility room needs defrosting urgently. It was virtually unusable as we could not put the drawers out due to the accumulated ice.
3. The washer dryer had been felt with the child lock on; we needed to download the manual to rectify this before we could use the washer. Also, the gentle dry function does not work.
While I have checked ‘yes’ and ‘yes’ to the following questions it would be with caveats.
I hope that we do not have the same issues in October.
