Once the village Cowman's house, Horseshoe Cottage is now a welcoming holiday home offering cosy interiors, contemporary fittings and a picturesque English cottage garden. Set in the tranquil village of Lower Swell, just one mile from the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, this property makes for a wonderful countryside escape with loved ones.

Vey helpful staff, very comfortable cottage, everything needed was provided.

Thanks for yummy treats left on arrival. Very thoughtful
Really enjoyed our stay. Location was great.
Staff really kind and helpful.
Cottage very sweet and characterful.
Struggled a little with stairs as very steep. Always good to show a picture. We travelled with our adult special needs daughter and had to use the stair gate at night.
Thanks for the gate it really helped.

The cottage is in a great location, just a mile out of Stow, the road outside the cottage can be quite busy and noisy at certain times of day but that did not spoil our stay there. Parking was never an issue either.
We found the beds in the cottage very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we required. All in all we had a great few days there and nice to have a pub just a minutes walk away

We stayed at Horseshoe Cottage during a recent visit to the Cotswolds. Location of the property was good, 5 minutes drive into Stow on the Wold and easy access to other villages nearby.
Are only issue was cleanliness (or lack thereof). Before booking this cottage, I read reviews about the cottage that mentioned it was not very clean, so on booking I did message agency to make sure that cottage was properly cleaned prior to our arrival due to illness/allergies, but sadly this request was not taken into account.
There were lots of spiders/cobwebs about, tabletops were dusty, drawers were dirty, windows ledges were filthy, and there was alot of mould on one of the walls in the living room, washing machine full of hair etc.
After our stay I did message the agency and provided pictures of all that we found and unfortunately they were not very forthcoming either, and was just told that I should have contacted the property manager to send a cleaning crew round whilst we were there, which was besides the point. No one wants to spend a holiday worrying about cleaners coming in. Having paid an agency over £1200 for a few days stay, you would think that they would ensure that their properties were in a clean condition in the first place.

StayCotswold do not own or manage this property, we act as the marketing agent and ask that the property is maintained to the level it is advertised by the property manager. Your message regarding the cleanliness of the property prior to booking was passed onto the property manager to ensure that this request was carried out. His contact details were provided to you at the beginning of your stay, and we do ask our guests to contact them to try and rectify any issues for you to enjoy your stay, and this will be arranged at a convenient time. Horseshoe Cottage is a 19th century former cowman's cottage which has a rich history and an abundance of retained character features, unfortunately cobwebs will appear in the cottage as soon as they have been cleaned away by the housekeeping team. We have passed your feedback onto the property owner to address these issues with her property manager and housekeeping team. She has informed us that as a gesture of goodwill she has sent you a small refund for the issues you experienced. We hope you will return to the Cotswolds soon.

A super cottage that was situated perfectly for visiting all the beautiful sites. The cottage was well equipped with plenty of towels available. The property was clean but would benefit from an extra hour to sort cobwebs and some areas were dust has collected over afew months.
Garden lovely and neighbours very friendly. Parking across the road which was no problem.

Great little cottage and we had a great stay. Not great if you are older with mobility problems as stairs are very steep and tricky to come down. Only thing that was a let down was the garden…. A beautiful large garden but had old iron garden furniture that wasn't appealing to sit on. No clothes line either and the washing machine had a stale smell. The kitchen was well kitted out and the cleanliness of the cottage was great. If the host concentrates on my poor points then this would take the property up a level

We had a lovely few days. Lower Swell is a great location from which to explore the Cotswolds. Horseshoe Cottage is cosy, well-equipped and comfortable. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage, which has been nicely refurbished and decorated. Cleanliness could be improved here and there, but was alright on average. Great welcome treats provided. Things to look after:
- the cottage is right at the main road in Lower Swell and it has single glazing. Thus the road noise is quite remarkable
- there are no recycling bin options provided in the kitchen
- the requested cot and highchair were not set up on our arrival
- the hight of some doorways and ceilings is very low, could be marked better

A comfortable cottage in a village just 4mins from Stow on the wold , also well positioned to reach most of the Cotswolds within 20-30mins.
Having a tumble dryer was a bonus, and the milk and bread left was a nice welcome along with the kitchen pack (although it had no washing up liquid provided) .

These are the repairs which are needed:
Fridge not working - fridge not cold enough/ freezer part frosted over
Toilet seat broken upstairs - keeps sliding off
Slices of bread on the lawn - supposedly to feed the birds but in reality will attract rats
Recycling bins don’t exist
Broken knives also all are blunt
Hole in the ceiling in single bedroom - very off- putting
Under kitchen cupboard lights not working
Wouldn’t recommend this property in winter since large drafts in all the kitchen windows

The owner has confirmed that the fridge is working, and the temperature can be adjusted to suit everyone’s requirements by using the thermostat. The toilet seat did have a loose screw which has now been tightened so it no longer slides off. The missing cardboard bin has now been replaced. The knives have been replaced sadly; the housekeepers would not have been aware of this without your feedback so thank you for letting us know. There is a crack in the plaster on the ceiling of the bedroom which is due to be filled and touched up. The under-kitchen cupboards lights have been replaced however the owner assures us that there is adequate lighting in the kitchen without these. We do hope that overall, you enjoyed your time exploring the Cotswolds!

Charming cottage with lots of facilities. Handily placed to visit all the delights of the Cotswolds. Will look forward to staying again in this pretty cottage with a safe enclosed garden for our little dog.
We enjoyed the walks around the lanes and across the fields.

Traditional and quaint Cotswold cottage, which is rather quite big when inside. Cosy and nicely decorated in modern style. Very good location by a pretty little village, which is a stones throw away from great sites and villages for super day trips.

We really loved our recent holiday in Horseshoe Cottage. It was nice and warm and good to get the wood burner going. The cottage was clean and well equipped. It was a good location, only a few minutes walk from the village pub and good walks in the area.
