We stayed at `Highfield` last year with all my family and decided to do a repeat holiday. Very happy with `Highfield`
Couldn’t have asked for more for a weekend away with friends. The location was perfect, the house fabulous, the beds comfy. Had everything we needed and more. Highly recommend.
Treacle has plenty of room downstairs for a large family. The kitchen has everything you need for preparing meals and a large adjacent dining room. All the bedrooms are spacious with ensuite showers. There is a small garden at the rear but it's access is quite steep. All the amenities of Ambleside are only a 10 minute walk from the front door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We found Brathay Cottages a great company to deal with.
Lovely cottage in perfect location with the advantage of a garage. Steep steps into lounge could prove challenging to some people.
our 3rd year there. It hasn't changed from year-to-year, so we got what we expected. We'll aim to come back next year too only very minor gripes - I think all the same as last year - not enough loo rolls, missing bulbs in the downstairs bedroom, wi-fi in the downstairs bedroom could do with a boost/extension facility. All of these could be done at minimal cost I think. The telly is a bit complicated to learn, but the young ones helped us crack it late (11.30 am) check-out was agreed by Brathay Cottages as an exception, and very much appreciated. I think this was our first special re...more
Lovely property located a short walk from the centre of Ambleside. The property is small but has everything you need. The garden is small and on two levels. It is secure if you have a dog, just be mindful of the high wall and watch the dog doesn’t try to jump down from it! Lots of great walks on your door step! Would stay again!
We’ve stayed in a few Brathay cottages and they are all lovely and comfortable and spacious and in good locations. It would be good if check in times were a little earlier. We also like the Keswick area so a Brathay cottage would be handy there
We really enjoyed our stay at Beech Cottage. As some other reviews have touched on, the garden is not secure for dogs so just bear this in mind when booking to stay with your dogs. The house was cleaned well but needs some TLC in places, mainly the family bathroom that needs a new blind urgently as it is not private currently. The kitchen could also do with some larger pots and pans to serve 6 people, half of them didn’t work on the induction hob and the extractor fan was broken. The house is in a perfect location to explore the Langdales. Chester’s on the River serves lovely baked goods and l...more
A great location to explore Ambleside but 2nd bedroom is very small and we were a bit disappointed with the cleanliness although that may have been as we were a last minute booking.
