Originally built as a home for the staff and families who manned the Eddystone Lighthouse, this three-bedroom apartment is arranged over two floors, with an open plan living area occupying the upper level. Beautifully furnished, with a bright and airy atmosphere throughout, the lounge boasts sea views from nearly every angle, making it the perfect place to watch the changing moods of ocean.

The lovely Shaker style kitchen which is open plan with the dining room, has plenty of worktop space and is equipped with modern, integrated appliances and a range of utensils and crockery. Further wonderful views make cooking and entertaining a pleasure, and for those glorious summery evenings there’s a furnished front terrace where guests can enjoy a refreshment or two while taking in the ocean panoramas towards Plymouth Sound.

Surrounded by unspoiled countryside and wide sea views, it’s unsurprising that there are many wonderful walks in the area, the best of which is the 5-mile circular route along the coast path which passes right by the property’s front door. This stunning section of the South West Coast Path takes in the wild beauty of Rame Peninsula’s position in an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty with woodland and wildflowers to enjoy, as well as sandy bays and the historic villages of Kingsand and Cawsand.

Of course if you’d like to spend time on the beach during your stay, you’ll also have plenty of beautiful sandy stretches to choose from including Penlee Point Beach (just a short scramble along the path), Cawsand Bay and Kingsand Bay, and Whitsand Bay which at low tide sprawls for 4 shimmering miles.

A seasonal ferry from nearby Cawsand transports visitors to the Barbican in Plymouth during the summer months so for those who fancy a spot of shopping and culture this is a great way to spend the day. The trip takes about half an hour and the Barbican is a fun spot for all the family, with a range of bars and cafes and a small museum about the US Pilgrim’s Mayflower voyage. Plymouth itself offers a huge range of activities too, including the national marine aquarium, museums and art galleries, climbing walls, theatres and the Drake Centre shopping centre.

*Please note that the property is accessed via 82 steps, so wouldn't be suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Worth the 82 steps to get there!!

There's not enough space to tell you how amazing it was! We saw warships, tankers, cargo ships and border force! Just round the headland from the grotto we saw a seal. The vista is stunning, you can see for miles.
The house has all you need and If it didn't Michelle who rings you before your stay, will make sure you have it! Such a lovely property manager who cares about your stay!
Just to help you with packing as of course you want to take as little as possible...there are hairdryers, dog bowls, tea and coffee, spices, oils, S&P, towels shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and hand soaps!
The little walk to beach takes about 5 mins at most and the beach is lovely. Our dogs loved it but it is quite a climb down some steps beside the big steps! Can be slippy too, but once on it's interesting with little inlets and lovely sand!
The grotto is really interesting with lovely views!
We were fortunate to be the only ones staying in the whole property. Next door is a rental but the end property is privately owned! I'd say the only thing you'd need to watch is the fence between the 2 rentals kind of overlaps and dogs could get their noses and mouths hrough! If there had of been a dog next door I think mine would have been trying to get to them and we would of had a different feel to our break filled with stress of not allowing dogs out on patio area, which was there favourite thing to do! So i suggest maybe a new full fence would be better which would also act as a wind break too!
When driving to the property along the private track always take the top road. There is a fork down to left at one stage but keep going straight on!
Now the steps...i have arthritis and dreaded it but was determined to do! Going down was harder for me. They are not 82 constant steps there maybe 8 then a long step then 5 higher ones and then 10 smaller ones! But If you take it slow it really is worth it!! I'd go again in a heartbeat if they installed a ski lift!!
We were very lucky with the weather as well but I still think you'd have a lovely time in a storm!
It really was an amazing relaxing break....thank you.

Came from the US and stayed for 3 weeks on my own in February. I had everything I needed to be comfortable for a long stay.
I had no car and managed fine. I have no real mobility issues but am 62 not that fit and the stairs were no joke as someone else said. But not as bad as I thought they'd be. BUT there are 80 of them.

Pictures are accurate, its a beautiful property. 2 floors, well equipped kitchen and dining room with fireplace on ground floor, 3 bedrooms and living room on main floor.

Gorgeous walking/hiking trails!

Waitrose delivered food (even down the 80 steps)

With my walking speed it was a 30 - 45 minute walk (hilly but mostly flat dirt/gravel road) to:
Grocery/convenience store
Great coffee/cheese shop
several good restaurants and pubs in Cawsand/Kingsand
Several small beaches
Cawsand ferry (seasonal only) to Barbican (lots of shops and restaurants)
Bus stop which takes you to Cremyll ferry to Plymouth or just into Milford to a Co-Op and organic grocery or to Mt. Edgecombe House/Garden

The windows are high and as another reviewer said, there isn't a place you can sit and look out at the coastline all that easily, but I propped some pillows up on the couch and was able to sit and watch the waves crash against the rocks on the rainy windy wintery days. Also, sitting on the bed in the back bedroom you can see the water. There is a rooftop deck with amazing views and the patio off the back is right there on the water. So lots of opportunities to take in the stunning landscape and water. And there is a fun back way to St Adelaide's Grotto!

The property manager Shell is the best I've ever come across. She cares about the property and the guests and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. Some places you never hear back from the management, but if I had a question I heard back within an hour at most, usually faster. She went out of her way to make my stay feel like home. She even checked in on me periodically :)

This was also my first time using Luxury Coastal and they were extremely responsive and helpful too.

Wonderful few days in this amazing house, stunning views.Beautiful unspoilt part of Cornwall. Due to the 86 steps to property not ideal for very young or the elderly.

Another perfect week for us and our 2 dogs at the Old Signal House.
The house is lovely, a fantastic location so close to the sea and a great spot to watch the ships and activity on the Plymouth Sound. We had some lovely long walks - along the coastal path, to Mount Edgcumbe, and over to Plymouth on the ferry to Barbican and back on the Cawsand ferry. The private path to the small cove feels very special - we swam every day with the bay all to ourselves.
Our second visit and we hope to return.

A wonderful position on the cliffs.
When outside on the terrace, a fine view of Plymouth Sound. Sadly when inside building the view can’t be appreciated unless one stands up as the windows are quite high.
However, we really enjoyed our stay and did some fabulous walking on coast path. Enjoyed visiting Cawsand and Kingsand.

At Penlee Point we found our peace,
An old signal house, our sweet release.
A basket greeted us with care,
London’s hustle vanished in the air.

Rame’s Head trail, we took our time,
Met Georgie Bruce, her art sublime.
In Kingsand, pasties we did seek,
Triple cooked fries, the perfect treat.

As dolphins danced upon the waves,
We took a dip, Atlantic’s brave.
A barbecue under the sky,
Military drills, our hearts did spy.

Though fear did creep, respect did grow,
For those who keep us safe, we know.
Chaffinch songs and nature's glow,
Our holiday, a gentle flow.

Johan and Wilma, side by side,
Grateful hearts with joy and pride.
We recommend this tranquil bend,
Penlee Point, where worries end

We had a fantastic stay, even with the normal English weather, the views including Dolphins were excellent. The property itself is spacious and well maintained, with everything you need within. There is p;enty to do in and around the error. Good eating places in the local area. Only downside, is you need to be aware of the 82 steps down to the property, tough work getting back up.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the house in Penlee Point, Cornwall. The stunning ocean views and cozy atmosphere made it a perfect retreat. The accommodations were impeccable, and the attention to detail in the decor and amenities was impressive. The location provided a serene escape while still being close to local attractions. The hospitality of the staff added a personal touch to the experience. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway.

5 stars is basically not enough. This is a 10 star property for cleanliness and comfort.
Beautiful idea of the welcome hamper. All credit to Michelle for her cleaning, property smelt beautiful. Pity we only stayed 3 nights but will be back. Slightly pricey as very remote but this didn't spoil anything. Couldn't fault the property or location

We had such a great long weekend, the area is really beautiful and the coastal path is literally on the doorstep. The local village of Cawsand is a 30 minute stroll away and well worth the leg stretch. The house is gorgeous and there’s everything you could possibly need, would highly recommend.

We had a fabulous time at The Old Signal House, very clean and luxurious.. The kids loved the games and binoculars provided!
It made it incredibly easy having so much to work with in the kitchen, having towels, deck chairs - I feel like this couple have literally thought of everything to make the stay as relaxing as possible! It was a very private holiday but getting in the car to Kingsand and going on the kayaks and paddle boards was brilliant and would recommend The Bay there too! Thanks for giving us some memories at The Old Signal House - we’ll see you again!!

I recently stayed at one of your properties, 1 The Old Signal House in Penlee Point, Torpoint, from 28th April for a 3-night stay for 4 adults, 1 child, and 1 infant.

I must say that the location of the property was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed being so close to the beach. However, during our stay, we experienced some issues that made our stay less relaxing and enjoyable than we had hoped.

We did bring some of these issues to the attention of Paul and the cleaning lady, who said they would notify the new owner, to have them sorted.

*) The toilet seat in the en-suite bathroom of the middle room was loose, which caused a safety concern, and I almost fell once as a result.
*) The exhaust fan in the same bathroom made a very loud noise when in use, and there was an unpleasant odor in the bathroom that made our stay uncomfortable.
*) The hallway floors were also very squeaky, which disturbed our sleep at night whenever anyone walked on them.
*) Lastly, we noticed that the sink in the family bathroom was leaking, which led us to share the other bathroom.
