Tucked away in the countryside, albeit not far from the M3 motorway, is a little jewel of an apartment. Perfectly appointed with a comprehensive array of kitchen units, a lovely little stove in the old bakers oven recess, and a comfortable bed settee in the living area.
Upstairs the bedroom is a perfect size with plenty of storage space and the en-suite bathroom and shower unit nicely arranged.
If you’re elderly or tall you might find the steep steps and beam in the bedroom a little daunting but other than that it’s near perfect.
We didn’t make use of the pub facilities but obviously it was very popular and if there was one downside it was a late night disturbance on one night but the other nights were fine.
Yes we would recommend the Old Bakery and hope to return in the not too distant future.

Lovely place to stay for a visit to rural Hampshire : we stayed in a rental unit but did not have the opportunity to use the adjoining bar and restaurant.
This time we arrived in the middle of a black-out but Callum (the general manager) was still there at 9pm on Sat evening and let us in to our unit as everywhere was dark. He even welcomed us by lighting the log fire in our unit :
Great customer service.

The Old Bakery is exactly as portrayed in the website photos. It's very tastefully decorated throughout. The kitchen is very well equipped. We appreciated the underfloor heating. The bedroom is spacious with plenty of storage. The shower was powerful. We also appreciated the ease of parking in the pub carpark. We would have enjoyed sitting outside in the garden but it was late October! We also liked the well-lit pathway past the cottages. Very nicely laid out. We ate in the pub twice- great service and lovely food.

The Old Bakery is an ideal place to stay for exploring Winchester. It’s well equipped and comfortable and the surrounding area. Good hospitality in the pub with only a very short walk home. We would think of returning.

We had the Old Bakery for 4 nights and it is the best cottage we have ever stayed in.
It has everything you can need provided for you and there was fresh bread, milk, butter and preserves waiting on our arrival.
The bed was wonderfully comfortable and we slept very well every night though a King size bed would have been truly fab.
When we arrived we had a fantastic Sunday dinner in the Northbrook Arms and Callum and the staff looked after us beautifully. Just wished that we lived nearer as we would have our roast dinner there every Sunday.
We also eat there on the Wednesday evening and again the food was delicious and Callum and team looked after us well again. You also get 10% off the bill if staying in one of the cottages which is a very nice bonus.
It would have been nice to have had some history on the cottage before and to where the owners have got it too now as it really needs promoting all the hard work they have put in to it all and we passed this on to Callum.
We will certainly be returning for another stay in 2025 and for longer.

A fantastic experience. The accommodation was clean and very modern. Fresh local produce and jams on arrival were a lovely touch. The pub nextdoor had great food and service and was not noisy at all.
A really lovely setting and we would definitely return.

In trying to do this review fairly I'm looking to try and find positives and negatives, but, I can only find good things to say about the place.
The Location is off the beaten track in a beautiful small village called East Stratton, easy to find with the included directions emailed to me prior to arrival. We entered the property using the usual method these days via a keysafe outside the unit. On entering we found a lovely living room and kitchen combined, very clean and well appointed, Nice touches of fresh milk and butter in the fridge, as well as a welcome basket of fresh bread, jams, etc. A folder on the table includes instructions for how to use every device in the place, along with Wifi passwords, etc.
Upstairs there was a huge comfortable bed, and either side of which were bedside cabinets which my wife fell in love with, the unsuite bathroom had a lovely shower, everything was lovely and clean, plenty of fresh, soft white towels.

The bedroom faces the back of the pub, but the noise once we had gone to bed was minimal, plenty of car parking spaces around the back too

We used the place as a base to visit family in the area, so were only there in the late evening and morning, we didn't use the garden attached to the property

On our second evening we took a stroll through the village, admiring the beautiful houses, even the village phone box was clean and tildy and looked like it had a working phone, no litter to be seen anywhere.

A place we will be using again next time we are needing to stay in the area

We stayed 2 nights, before and after our wedding. A small but well organised and equipped cottage. Tastefully decorated and in a great location.

Beautiful cottage attached to a fab pub/ restaurant. Lovely staff. Cottage had everything we could have wanted ( garden for dogs not totally secure) but mine didn’t wander very quiet. Winchester 6 mikes away which was fantastic overall a great place to visit. Can’t wait to go back

Great stay at the old bakery, with our dog. Comfortable accommodation, only steps from the Northbrook Arms where we had a lovely meal both evenings. Good beer, and friendly staff.
