We recently enjoyed two weeks of travel throughout the U.K. We had booked a three night stay at The Highland Club about halfway through our trip, but immediately regretted that we were staying for such a short while! The grounds were impeccable and the apartment was so beautiful that we did not want to leave. Upon reflection, this was our favorite part of the entire holiday--and that is certainly saying something! We will definitely return for future holidays and will gladly recommend this property to everyone visiting the area.
Stayed for 4 nights to attend a friends wedding at the Abbey, everything was perfect, well located and everything you could need amenity wise, short walk to the pubs/cafes on the lochside and would recommend The Lock Inn for food and drinks.
Lovely location close to the village, excellent condition throughout, the staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment was very well equipped. We would definitely consider returning.
Beautiful place , excellent location , boathouse restaurant amazing food , stunning views , loved it
It doesn't get any better than Caladh. This property is amazing, the layout is perfect for a couple or even a family. Wish e could have stayed longer.
Everything was perfect. Accomodation very suitable for disabled and clean. Concierge was very helpful and facilities were great.
The Abbey Chapel apartment has amazing architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. Truly a lovely place to stay.
After a long drive from Liverpool, we were all glad to get there. The Abbey is a stunning building and our room (loch view) did not disappoint either. Great views of the loch, beautifully presented and it had everything we could have asked for. The apartment was very spacious and had all mod cons, considering it was in such an old building. The grounds are kept in great condition and well maintained, the building itself, along with the views and location are just stunning. We stayed 5 nights and it will definitely be a break to remember and we'd highly recommend it as somewhere to stay, it wa...more
We booked Gruinyards based on the view it offered of Loch Ness, so we were expecting to be blown away. But even on a grey rainy March day the sight out of the living room window exceeded all our expectations. Utterly, utterly amazing. The apartment is also wonderful. The master bedroom is massive and comfortably furnished, with a luxurious en-suite - you can practically go for a swim in the claw-footed bathtub. The twin room was fairly compact but well laid out and extremely comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was hot and strong - what more do you need? This apartment doesn't fee...more
Perfect location. The abbey looks beautiful and the location on the loch ness is amazing. In term of flat, everything was there to make you feel at home with all equipments. Also salt, pepper, oil were available which makes cooking easy when there for only few days. A lot of activities, games are available on the location. You can easily find ways to spend your time at the abbey and the park!
Chapter House captures modern living with all the period features of the former monastery. Ideally located on the banks of Loch Ness, it was a great base for exploring the highlands and local tourist attractions. The accommodation could do with an additional shower over bath in the main bathroom, as 4 of us had to use the only shower in the en-suite when getting ready. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Highland Club/Chapter House to friends and family, as I'm sure our friends visiting from England will also.
Thank you for letting us stay in such an amazing building, the apartment was stunning and so big. Everything you could need was thought about and provided. The area was small but perfectly formed with gift shops, pubs and a little shop. We had a totally relaxing time.
Fantastic location, we had a great time even if the weather was against us all along. Next time in summer !
A beautiful apartment and very well appointed. It is decorated to a very high standard with beautiful fixtures and fittings. The location is excellent but perhaps not suitable for elderly visitors due to the number of stairs leading up to it. With beautiful views over the loch, it was useful to have a table and chairs in the lounge in addition to the huge eight seater in the kitchen/dining area. The internal window overlooking the atrium is a lovely touch. The linen etc was comfortable and spotlessly clean but the same cannot be said for the utensils, pots, pans and trays. We had to clea...more
The bed was a bit lumpy, and there were some spots where paint was peeling or the plaster was cracked. Despite this, this is one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. The building was beautiful, and it was lovely to be able to walk down to Loch Ness. The property manager Sue Bruce was very nice and helpful and did a brilliant job of showing us around. Wished we had been able to stay longer and would stay again!
St. Benedict's Abbey was rejuvenating. Stunning views, remarkable accommodations and fun areas to explore made for the perfect holiday get away. We loved the sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties sold at a nearby butcher shop. There was something very healing about the abbey and Ft. Augustus.
We spent a memorable Christmas and our daughter's 21st birthday at this very beautiful setting in Struan apartment.
The Abbey buildings are in a really lovely location on Loch Ness and look right up the loch. The original Abbey buildings are very beautiful and it is a real pleasure to wander through the cloisters and the grounds. Abbey Church 10 is in one of the newer extensions and is very close to the main atrium and swimming pool area. In fact, the kitchen window looks down into the atrium. In an old building it is understandable that there would be restrictions on space and that is probably why the layout of this apartment is a little quirky. The apartment is very linear with the kitchen at one end of...more
Accommodation was spacious, comfortable and well equipped although the kitchen lacked sufficient work surfaces. A shower in the family bathroom would be beneficial. At present, the property is most suited to a family with small children. We had our teenage son with us so were all having to use the ensuite shower.
A great retreat from the stresses of life. Peaceful and friendly place. The only problems are the uncomfortable beds (too hard), and the fact that you don't actually have a loch view from the apartment as stated.
Disappointing stay at what should be a fantastic spot. The old Abbey has been updated well but far too many service and provision issues, especially for a very high priced accommodation. Positives: - Location right on Loch Ness and fairly central for exploring the Highlands - The Abbey and grounds are beautiful - Modern kitchen and appliances Need Improvement: - Furnishings in upgraded 2 bedroom apt were poor quality and comfort - Utensils and appliances provided but no "basic essentials" like dishwasher/washing soaps, cooking oil, etc - Very limited supplies available in ...more
Really enjoyed our stay with Highland Club Direct! We thought the property was beautifully outfitted - love the stags everywhere - and was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, glasses etc. Very important as we were cooking Christmas dinner there! Very much enjoyed our stay and couldn't recommend it enough! Would be great if more toilet paper and garbage bin bags were provided as part of the stay. While we understand the property is self-catering, we arrived late on Christmas Eve and given the local shop was closed on Christmas Day... let's just say we wer...more
Lovely well appointed apartment but the overall building needs a refresh and felt it was expensive now there is no swimming pool and very unhelpful service at The Boathouse restaurant.
Really great concept but missed opportunities. The reception was less than welcoming. Apartment was comfortable, but not up to the luxury advertising. Poor quality linen, holes in pillow cases and poor fitting bed sheets. Kitchen utensils were tired and toaster only worked if you kept the lever down. An onsite bar or coffee shop would have been welcome and the corridors felt like a university hall or institution and would have benefitted from some pictures, quality flooring and improved lighting.
Beautiful place, good stay, not so cleaned. Good accomodation, wonderful view and landascape on the lanke. Very very kind Mike!!!!
