The Barn is a child-friendly and dog-friendly holiday cottage in Northumberland. It is a charming, refurbished, open plan property with tonnes of character including open beamed ceilings and natural stone elements. With two gallery living rooms overlooking the spacious dining area and seating available for 10 guests, it is the perfect place to enjoy spending time with family and friends. The holiday home has a well-equipped kitchen, underfloor heating and a gas fire for those cosy nights in.

We have been visiting Broadmea for 15 years. Since our children were little. This was our 5th Christmas here. We have stayed in the Barn and the Stable. Both are wonderful. This Christmas, with our three grown up children plus one girlfriend, the Barn was a perfect fit for our family. It is a beautiful place. Absolutely stunning. It feels like coming home. The accommodation is wonderful. Trish and Paul are so helpful and welcoming. A truly happy Christmas spent in Broadmea Barn.

We travelled from Manchester as storm Babet continued to cause havoc across some parts of the UK. There was plenty of debris on the approach roads, small branches etc, but nothing to cause a problem. The directions provided were really accurate and we arrived just after 3pm on the Friday. We quickly unpacked and then the power went off. At first I thought a circuit could have tripped but after I spoke to the host, Trish, she promptly came back with the bad news that the storm had knocked the power of in the valley. Dispensing a supply of candles and torches, Trish explained that the power should return later that night, but if we wanted to go home, she would give us a full refund. Nice gesture, but we decided to stay. Fortunately the power was restored a couple of hours later and we were able to start enjoying our break. There was eight of us in total and we felt the property accommodated us all really well. There is plenty of space to sit and relax, watch TV etc. All the bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed and even in later October the hot tub was used every day. The sauna also got plenty of use and was a nice to have facility. The Barn is located quite remotely but we had booked restaurants for a few of the nights. Of the nights we dined out the Duke of Cumberland and The Fleece were the stand out meals. Overall we had a great stay, the host was always on hand if we needed anything, the accommodation was clean and well appointed. We liked the remote location, very quiet at night and great for viewing the night sky on clear nights. Would we stay again, 100% yes.

A lovely week in a very well designed and equipped barn. On arrival there was plenty of parking space for our cars and the barn was spotlessly clean. The facilities included both a jacuzzi and a sauna both of which we used during our weeks stay. The kitchen is very well equipped making any cooking easy and the bedrooms were of a good size with comfortable beds. The owners live on site and were very friendly and helpful if any problems arose or we wanted any advice. We found lots to do in the surrounding areas which kept both our children and grand-children happy. A lovely family week away.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Broadmea. The barn is stunning. Very clean, comfortable and cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed and more. The bedrooms were spacious and beds comfortable. It is a fantastic place to relax and unwind. Our plan was to do nothing, soak in the hot tub and chill, but we actually found so much to do locally and we were much busier than expected. There are lovely walks right from the doorstep, we took a bike ride up the disused railway and went on the tiny steam train to Alston. Further afield we went horse riding, visited the stunning High Force waterfall, Hadrian’s Wall / Roman Fort and Lowther Castle with its fantastic adventure play park. All within 50 mins by car. Overall it was a fantastic holiday the whole family enjoyed.

We recently stayed in 'The Barn' at Broadmea over Easter. The property was lovely, really clean and more than big enough for 10 adults to stay comfortably. It had great facilities with good sized bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms, with 2 of the rooms having en-suites, so we all had enough privacy. There were 2 longe areas upstairs which we felt was great, it meant we all had somewhere comfortable to sit when we didn't want to watch the TV, although there was enough seating for the whole group to gather when we wanted to. We enjoyed the sauna and the outdoor hot tub and BBQ facilities were a great addition when the weather was nice too.

The location is beautiful in the middle of the countryside, however, there is not a great deal of places to walk to... local pubs etc are a car drive away. However, we knew this before we booked and were happy to stay and use the facilities in the cottage. Instead, we had an Asda food shop and take away delivery which worked well.

The only thing that we felt could use some attention was the lack of noise proofing on the wooden floors/stairs. As the bedrooms are all located on the lower floors, any foot traffic echoed through each room which made it very difficult to sleep whilst other people were using the kitchen/living room areas.

All in all, we have had a fantastic weekend away and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Broadmea. We would definitely recommend to others.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the Barn is lovely - great decor comfy beds - enough bathrooms for all guests - it really is a lovely space to get away from it all!
In terms of feedback
It’s noisy - ie: when people move around , latches on doors - there’s no chance of anyone sneaking up on you not sure what you could do about that though?
It’s beautifully clean but we did find a few Children’s cards down the sofas and hair clips on the floor from the previous stay in both upstairs lounge areas - maybe worth a double check up there!
It wasn’t a problem at all but worth a mention I hope?
The sauna was well used and great! But the hot tub is a bit exposed - close to the road - as a group of ladies of a certain age not keen to prance around in swimwear, we felt we could only use at night when dark - we could see you’ve planted Trees to mask it - which will be great when grown
I do think 9.30 is very early to leave on the last day - the 10 am extension was welcome but 10.30 or 11 would allow people time to pack up and eat before leaving!
The girls were great - we left our cars and went for a walk - they also let us spend a penny before we drove home (very welcome after a walk and picnic!)
The communication prior to arrival and on line info was really helpful to know what was in the barn to help us plan!
We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly recommend to anyone needing a fabulous venue for a large group like ours !! Thank you

Lovely break in Broadmea, was surprised at the layout of the cottage as would have thought the family room would be on level with the kitchen amenities.
Owners were happy to help when we had issues with the BBQ and Hottub.
Although we chose Broadmea due to being dog friendly. It was limited as to where the dogs were allowed in the property, which was disappointing.
Overall a lovely property and would recommend to others but not as dog friendly.

Booked this property for a week for family time with children and grandchildren. The layout and facilities made this a very special occasion. We all loved the hot tub and sauna even in the rain and snow.
The 5 very spacious bedrooms were very comfortable and the three split level entertaining areas were magnificent!
Trish was the perfect owner/host and nothing we asked for was a problem.
We would strongly recommend this home for a family holiday or a long weekend with friends (who like walking, drinking or just chilling)

We had the most amazing time for my husbands 50th birthday with our children and grandchildren. The barn was perfect for our large family. A little bit pricey for 3 nights but it was Easter weekend.
The one thing I didn’t like was having to check out at 9.30 am. Would definitely of loved a late check out.

We rented for the weekend in January. Group of middle aged woman walkers with two small dogs.
The place was immaculate when we arrived, fabulous facilities,plenty of bathrooms and we all loved the hot tub . It was cold outside but lovely and warm in the property.
It had everything we needed and much more. We will be returning next year for sure .I am happy to recommend this propert6 for family get together or large groups. The Pennines way is so near as well.

10 of us stayed here for a big joint 30th birthday celebration as we all missed out on parties due to covid restrictions. It was fantastic! The barn was beautifully clean, beautifully decorated and so spacious. Absolutely perfect party space but with lots of areas people could go to relax. Great location in the beautiful countryside. Hot tub was a nice treat. Trish was lovely and very helpful. Could not have asked for a better place for our holiday.

Ideal property for a family gathering. We had such a lovely time relaxing in beautiful surroundings. The Barn was stylish, well equipped and spacious. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly on-site owners. Highlight was watching shooting stars and the Milky Way from the hot tub. We will definitely be back

The Barn at Broadmea was a fabulous place to stay. The accommodation was spacious, modern and well maintained. The addition of a hot tub was a lovely surprise. It has an idyllic location with plenty of walks on its doorstep. Tourist attractions across Northumberland, Cumbria and the Lake District are all available with a drive and many are less than an hour away. A great place to stay with the family.

Our visit was a weekend to celebrate my birthday and Tricia could not have done enough for us. From the initial moment of contact through to our departure she was so helpful with anything we needed. The property itself is a dream, beautifully decorated and furnished and with everything we needed for our stay.
I have already recommended it to a number of people and would have no hesitation in booking again. Many thanks for making it such a lovely weekend x

We stayed a week at Broadmae Barn. The Barn, location, countryside were all absolutely delightful. The Barn was very comfortable and suited our needs exactly. The surrounding countryside offered dog friendly walks and driving a little further afield we discovered beautiful walks and quaint villages. The weather was changeable but it didn’t dampen our enjoyment of Cumbria and Northumberland.

Family holiday, including 3 granddaughters, Broadmea Barn was ideal for combining tranquil reflection with outdoor activities.
Located adjacent to a quiet country road, 5 minutes walk to a picturesque and safe Pennine river, yet not too remote for us city dwellers.
Both young and old thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My family and I had the best time at Broadmea Barn! The host, Trish, was extremely accommodating and always accessible for questions. The place was immaculately clean and very well equipped. Location was brilliant, with a variety of walks in the area and only a short car journey to the Lake District. The sauna was absolutely lovely! The place had a modern feel but was also very cosy.

We highly recommend Broadmea Barn to all!
