Treetop House is a luxury retreat that accommodates up to three in two bedrooms. Dramatically located perched on a hill side beside a gorge of a small stream with seasonal waterfalls and stunning near and distant views. With great hill walks from the doorstep and a short walk from the centre of Ullapool village with its lively pubs and restaurants and various galleries and shops. The house has a luxury freestanding bath, drench head showers, sauna and wood burning stove.

First of all, Gavin & Rachel were so lovely, kept in touch with regular emails and updated straight away with any queries that we had. I cannot describe how stunning the stone houses were, nor how highly I recommend staying here. This was our first time and didn’t disappoint, absolute perfection. Spotlessly clean, furnished to high standard and they had literally thought of everything to fulfill the guests needs. Peace and quiet and the views…. Day and night, absolutely beautiful. We will be back 100% and might even bring the kids next time.

The house is just beautiful and the views are amazing and ever changing.

We felt very privileged to stay in such a lovely place in such a stunning setting. Quality of the interior was to a very high level and lots of nice touches such as fresh flowers, great coffee machine, sauna, outdoor lights especially on the waterfall, makes treetops stand out against other places we have visited. We had a week of mixed weather, some lovely sunshine and some rain but the beauty of this place is that whatever the weather you have stunning views from the lounge, kitchen area and bedrooms. Easy to walk into town and some walks from the back of the property make the location perfect. Hosts were very welcoming and if there was any questions or issues, these were delt with straight away. looking forward to returning!

The accommodation was first rate and the views from the house were breathtaking. Gavin & Rachel were very welcoming.

We filled our week walking and there are plenty of walks within and near Ullapool to recommend, including Inverbroom waterfall & gorge, Badrallach to Scoraig, Ullapool Hill, Rhue lighthouse, Bonecaves and Stac Pollaidh. We even had a go at Ceilidh dancing which was entertaining because of our lack of skill! We were also lucky enough to see quite a few dolphins during a RIB ride.

We stayed at the Stonehouse in Ullapool for one week, and it was one of the highlights of our driving trip. It’s an amazing property, backed up by really great customer care, wrapped up in a great location. The sort of place where you want to stay again.

- the property is on a hillside and offers amazing views of the sea and mountains. It’s really well appointed, with high-end fixtures, fittings and furnishings
- the hosts, Gavin and Rachel, were really attentive. When we first arrived, they spent a considerable amount of time giving us advice on locations to visit and places to eat. In fact, there were really attentive even before we arrived during the booking process. The welcome basket was like nothing we had ever before with range of local delicacies.

We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Treetops House. The property is in an unrivalled private and secluded location (literally among the treetops!) with striking views over Loch Broom. The owners, Gavin and Rachel, were extremely friendly and helpful, and were able to provide us with a variety of recommendations as to where to eat out, or where to visit, based on our preferences. The standard of accommodation, comfort and cleanliness was of the highest order; every detail seemed to have been thought of and catered to, from the beautifully fragranced planting scheme that perfumes your way up the steps to the front door, to the strategically placed little automatic “courtesy” lights inside the property which self-activate to enable you to find your way around safely in the dark! We would not hesitate to recommend Treetops House and hope to return ourselves one day.

This was our third time at the Stonehouses, the first in Treetops. Both houses are beautiful but I confess Treetops stole my heart - loved the double views - outwards to the sea, and then the joy of a waterfall and secret gorge to the rear. Rachel and Gavin are generous hosts, providing real warmth and a lot of wise guidance on the area. Ullapool is a fabulous town, with lots going on and delicious food!

We had a great week’s stay at Treetops House in Ullapool. Gavin And Rachel gave us a very warm welcome, lots of advice on local walks and things to do and gave us champagne on ice and smoked salmon and other local delicacies to start our week. The house is fantastic. Close to Ullapool, but perched high above it, Treetops was quiet and tranquil with great views. The house is beautifully designed, full of light and exceptionally well equipped, including a simple to use barrista style coffee maker. It was very warm (without heating) and comfortable.and everything worked.

This was our third visit to Stonehouses, first to Treetop House. It lived up to our expectations. We spent three very relaxing days here. Treetop has exactly the same high standard of accommodation as the Curved House next door. The location right next to the waterfall is difficult to beat and the views over Ullapool and the loch and mountains is wonderful. The welcome pack from Gavin and Rachel was excellent with Gluten free items supplied for my wife.
We have holidayed extensively in the Highlands and these two properties are by far the best that we have stayed at. Hopefully we'll be back for a forth visit.

We stayed at the Treetop for our honeymoon. It was a beautiful haven for us to relax and rest after the hectic weeks leading up to our wedding. We booked both the Curved and Treehouse Storehouses for the week. Our young adult grandchildren joined us. The arrangement gave all parties plenty of room to be very comfortable and enjoy these very special facilities. The hiking trail that leads out the back and up the Hill offers immediate access to a network of trails in a forested and protected sanctuary.

We stayed for a week in December and it was absolutely magical. Gavin and Rachel were so welcoming and had thought of so many little touches which just made the stay extra special. Treetop house itself is amazing and we were treated to some snow and visiting deer during the week which was a fantastic experience. The people of Ullapool were so warm and friendly and we really enjoyed talking to the staff and locals at the Ceilidh Place.

The arrival sequence is an amazing experience, climbing up alongside the waterfall and finishing with long views out to Loch Broom; made even more special by Gavin and Rachel providing a Christmas tree and welcome hamper - thank you!

Each room provides a different vista into the landscape (even from your bed and your bath!) and we enjoyed watching the light and weather change over our week stay.

We enjoyed both walks directly from the house and more ambitious trips easily accessible to the north, to stunning beaches and mountains.

A wonderful place with attentive hosts. We would recommend this 100%.

This was our second stay in Treetop House and we'll return. The concept and actuality meet all our expectations and provide a fantastic base for us to re-visit our favourite locations and explore new ones as well. Treetop House continues to provide the perfect retreat, being very well out-fitted, comfortable and peaceful, but within easy reach of all the amenities we require. The views are fantastic, whatever the weather but of course, especially when the sun shines. This home was by far the most beautiful vacation home we have ever stayed in, and we travel all over the world. The views from all windows are absolutely stunning!! The furnishings are very tasteful, and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked, we had everything we needed. Gavin and Rachel offered lots of advice and literature on the surrounding area and we followed their guides everyday and were not disappointed. We looked forward everyday to returning to TreeTop House and relaxing in the beautiful natural surroundings.

I booked the Treehouse in Ullapool for a week in June as a treat to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. We absolutely loved our stay. The house is stunning with the most amazing views. The house has everything you need for your stay including flask for your walking/picnics! The lovely touches of candles, fresh flowers, champagne, local smoked salmon and cheese were wonderful. Fluffy robes and towels. It was simply the perfect location.
The owners are friendly and kind. We would love to go back in fact we did not want to ever leave!!!

It is rare for me to give an Excellent score but this place deserves it by some.

The pictures do not lie, the location affords a superb view of Loch Broom seaward and the Summer Isles in the distance.

We stayed in the Treetop House, several little outdoor balconies / seating areas to catch the sun as it moves round, its own waterfall which strategically placed lighting for when darkness falls. A gate, locked, from the rear allows access to the Ullapool Hill path which offers some outstanding views, check it out!

The interior is spotless, the log burner had a made up fire in it, we didn't light it as we have one at home and with the underfloor heating I doubt you'd need it, but what a nice touch /thought.

The nice touches keep on coming, well, extremely well stocked kitchen, tea-bags, coffee beans a plenty, loads of spices, goodies from the Ullapool Smokehouse, yes we visited and departed with more than we thought we would!

Luxury toiletries from the Highland Soap Company in the showers and wash basins, his and hers too!

What a fantastic week spent here. The area around begs a visit, there is loads of material provided on where to go, things to do and the scenery is sometimes breath-taking and so photogenic.

Good range of shops in the village and of course Tesco! Try the Ferry Boat Inn, small but high quality menu. Some great delicacies can be found in the West Coast Delicatessen. The Seafood Shack was closed when we stayed.

All in well, a fantastic place to stay in a gorgeous part of the country. Planning a return visit!

This was our third time at Stonehouses, (2nd at Treetops) and it was simply fantastic. Not only had Gavin and Rachel managed to organise a perfect week of weather, the House was also perfect. Over the last 30 years since we had our honeymoon on The Isle of Harris, we have stayed in numerous self catering houses, cottages and holiday homes and we can say without reservation that Tree-House is amongst the best, if not the best we have stayed in. The design, both exterior and interior is stunning, the attention to detail is excellent and with the double bath and sauna, you want for nothing more. And the view from the front and the numerous sitting areas at the back just enhance your stay further. Difficult to think how it could be improved.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Stonehouse's once in the Curved House and recently in the Treetops house.
Although both sit adjacent to each other the owners have not duplicated them as you see in many property rentals.
Both are totally different in design and the views are different as well but both of them have been fitted out with high end goods so in this case you do get that special feeling that its more than a Butt & Ben!!!!
Highly recommend both for a total chill-out even if the weather is Bad just pull up a chair at the Panoramic windows as there is always something happening all around, some fantastic sunsets weather permitting.

This was the second time we had stayed in Treetops, and we are desperate to return! Wonderful property, beautifully decorated, perfectly located with lovely views of the loch to the Summer Isles. We have stayed in a number of UK self catering properties all of which claim to leave you the essentials. Not all do, but Stonehouses really do - we had everything we needed plus a welcome bottle of champagne! The property's 'private' waterfall is a joy, and being able to access the Ullerpool Hill walk from the property (plus proximity of pubs and restaurants in the town), helps make this one of the best holidays we know.

We had a fabulous week staying in the TreeTop House. All comforts provided and since it was January we enjoyed the wood burning stove and the time to cook in a relaxed way with a well kitted out kitchen. Stunning views, awesome waterfall which was illuminated at night just outside the window, interesting walks from the door and a short distance into Ullapool itself.

Its incredibly difficult to put into words how we feel about our stay at Treetops. There is nothing negative to say in our opinion. We love staying in Ullapool as it's a perfect location to explore and enjoy the Highlands. We've stayed in both Stonehouses (Treetops latterly) and whilst there are slight differences between them, both provide luxurious comfort. We had everything we needed and could wish for. Gavin and Rachel are so welcoming and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. Whilst the cost may be higher than other 2-bed self-catering units, The Stonehouses are worth every single penny. We've stayed in a number of similarly priced luxurious cottages in the Highlands, and in our opinion, these are the best. We will definitely book again as soon as we can.

Scotland offers some remarkably good places to rest up. Gavin and Rachel who created Treetop and sister property have cast their net more widely stil, and locally owned and run 'Treetop' is up there with the best in the world, especially if you're looking for a retreat with a friendly and lively village close at hand.

The house has such human-scaled space, character and light that once having stayed, as a source of strength you'll be able to call it to mind thereafter. World-class landscape aside, the location allowed us to take - in February - immediate advantage of the changeable weather to pop down to the village, walk up Ullapool Hill or sit out in the sun on one or other of 'Treetop's two very sheltered terraces - staying here always totally spoils us - Treetop and Ullapool together makes for a rewarding four-season destination.

Great location close to the centre of Ullapool with great views. In superb condition and very well appointed. One of our favourite properties for a holiday - there is nothing to fault. (As the website says it is not a property for anyone with mobility issues as there are external and internal steps.)

The owners have everything in order and there are none of the usual silly hassles that one encounters at other properties such as light bulbs not being replaced or only two dishwasher tablets being left- you will not need to to bring/buy any of the normal household consumables!

Can't not recommend this property too highly - although expensive it does represent good value for money.

First visit to Ullapool and was looking forward to a relaxing break over Christmas. We really could not have chosen a better location or accommodation. A fully furnished property with all the creature comforts too and the most welcoming hosts. We woke up every morning in awe of the views of the harbour and Ullapool, listening to the waterfall and pinching ourselves that we were able to bask in this tranquility. The photos of the property are modest and Treetop house really has the 'wow' factor. In fact, it is so good, we have already booked for next visit. Rare that you stay in a place & can't think of any way to improve it. We've stayed twice & still feel the need to return, can't beat being all snug & cosy while the rain is lashing down outside, particularly when you get such a good view out. House itself has been very well though through & put together using good quality materials, easily worth the asking price for a holiday. Location is good too allowing a walk down into town or good access to some jawdropping scenery around some of the NC500 route.

Best place to rent in the west of Scotland. The treetops has everything and more to make your stay a fantastic experience. With a view from every room. We have great weather ie bright crisp days and clear nights, but even in bad weather this place would be enjoyable. Rachel made us welcome and met us when we arrived. We visited Achmelvich beach during our stay and it was well worth it. Only problem with treetops because it is so good it is popular so book early.

The Stonehouses' website gives a glimpse into what you can expect. When you arrive you quickly realise that Treetops is even more beautiful in the flesh. Panoramic views from its full height glass, luxury fittings and an en-suite to die for are just some of the features which have convinced us to return again soon. Treetops' owners Gavin and Rachel were always on hand to help us plan our hikes and days out and their enthusiasm and love for the Highlands was infectious..
Clever design has created a property that feels secluded and private yet you are only a ten minute walk from the town. We dived into The Ferry Inn more times than was probably good for us!

This is a most stylish & luxurious haven within easy walking distance from the centre of Ullapool & close to the beautiful Coigach peninsula with all it's stunning mountain & coastal scenery, beaches & artistic & outdoor activities within easy reach by car, cycle or walking.

Enjoy a glass of wine listening to a natural waterfall on one of the house's private terraces or fall asleep watching the sun set over the Summer Isles & Loch Broom from floor to ceiling windows in the magnificent master bedroom. In fact there are wonderful views from every angle of this gorgeous house & it's as secluded & in touch with nature & the wildlife around it as it's name "Treetop" suggests.

Nothing seems too much trouble for Gavin & Rachel, the owners & hosts of the Stonehouses. They could not be more welcoming or kind & they provide a lovely local selection of goodies on arrival just to help you settle in. We had glorious weather but it really wouldn't have mattered. It's such a wonderfully comfortable & relaxing place we could have just sat by the wood burner with a good book enjoying all the views.

If you are after peace, tranquillity & beautiful surroundings, with great seafood on your doorstep this is the perfect place. We highly recommend it.

Right from booking the property everything was perfect.

The house itself is amazing - the views are stunning from the expansive windows - great for watching sunsets. Very well equipped and we lacked nothing - it was comfortable throughout.
Location perfect - just enough out of the town but close enough to walk in.

Our second stay at this lovely property. Location is excellent with fantastic views over the loch and out to the Summer Isles. Ullapool satisfies most needs - shops, restaurants, even small music venues - but it's small and remote enough that it doesn't feel "busy". Easy access to fantastic drives South (to Gairloch, Lochcarron), North (to Kylesku and up to the North coast), East (to Inverness, Cromarty). A great location from which to explore the Western Highlands. And you have your own waterfall - which varies anywhere between a trickle and a raging torrent, depending on the recent weather.

Will definitely return at some point.

We enjoyed a warm welcome on arrival and found the house very unique and delightful . Everything within was first class and quite remarkable. The view is wonderful and the house grounds and patio enjoyable. The burn cascading down is a special feature and we were lucky to see 2 Roe deer grazing in the garden area.
The location in Ullapool is also good as all the village amenities are within a 5-10 minute walk.
We were very pleased with our visit and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Such a great, unique property for which the owners have put so much effort into ensuring that everything is perfect for guests - from equipment throughout the property, to the wealth of personally provided information about the area and recommended walks, even including the choice of music available. Such an enjoyable week’s stay. If you see this is available at a time that suits you then rent it, we had been waiting 3 years to find availability at a time that worked for us. This has 90% occupancy levels each year the majority of whom I presume to be repeat business, get your booking in early.

Gavin and Rachel always very welcoming and helpful without being overbearing . This is the 3rd year we’ve been in February , the high specification of the place means that it wears very well and is still in great condition . The beds are comfy , linens crisp and laundered well, it’s like being in a top hotel but just self catering which is what we like. Also cooking equipment is of a good quality so you don’t struggle to cook likenin some self catering let’s. We’ll be going back again , if you love natural beauty and walking you’ll love it .

Pure luxury in such a beautiful setting. Every aspect of our stay was faultless, from the friendly and informative welcome to the spacious accommodation with both beautiful views and interiors of the very highest standard. Having access to hill walks right from our back door and then being able to warm up in the sauna on our return before cosying up next to the fire with the sound of the waterfall in the background was fabulous.

Had a great time in this truly spectacular cottage. Superb location, huge amount of beautifully furnished space.lovely main bedroom and bathroom again with lots of space and a very well-equiped kitchen. What was not to like. The built-in sauna added just that extra little bit of fun. Our hosts were very kind and helpful. The house is so thermally efficient that you do not need to bank up the log stove much more than the very minimum to feel comfy even when there is a howling gale outside.

A beautifully located unique property built into the hillside above Ullapool. Views are amazing. We were here last year and we came back so that tells you a lot. We also recommended it to friends and family. It is a stunning building with everything you want and all of the highest quality. Its great to be able to watch the Ferry come and go and the views over the bay and towards the Summer Isles is magnificent. Its a very good location for every type of activity and Ullapool has a good variety of places to eat and drink but out favourite is the Kylesku Hotel about 45 mins drive North. We were there last year and went back twice this year, lovely meals of the highest standard. Rachel and Gavin are the most welcoming of hosts and genuinely friendly. We will be back again. I fancy trying a winter holiday there!

So much better than we expected - and we expected quite a lot. The house and particularly the location is just fabulous, with sensational views over Ullapool and across Loch Broom. We had exceptional weather and this just meant that our holiday was even more enjoyable. We wouldn’t wish poor weather on anyone but even if it had been bad, the house and the scenery in this part of Scotland would more than compensate.
Ullapool itself is pleasant enough with a good range of cafes, pubs etc. Seafood Shack, the Deli and Ceilidh Place we’re particular favourites for us. From our position on the Ullapool Hills, we could observe the comings and goings in the harbour, from fishing vessels to the Calmac ferry and even a couple of huge cruise ships that decanted their passengers for local sightseeing.
Besides the location and the views, Treetop House itself is absolutely wonderful, set in hillside woodland with private terraces.
The house offered a relaxing ambience, with amazing facilities which meant we had an really chilled holiday.
As a base for exploring the area, it was just perfect.

We will return to Treetop House - or will it be to Curved Stone House? The owners Rachel and Gavin were kind enough to show us round the other property on the day we left and this is different but equally fabulous. It must be said that they couldn’t have been more helpful.

This is our second visit and it will not be our last - that from a couple who prefer not to return to the same place. It's just so lovely.
Rain or shine the views mean you spend hours just gazing out over Loch Broom. The sauna after a rainy walk means you do venture out in all weathers and the proximity to the vibrant town of Ullapool means food, pubs and coffees.

Perfect for getting out to the hills and for snuggling up in the stunning interior. We''ll be back.

They will do everything possible to enhance your stay in this stunningly designed house, starting with a welcome pack of local produce and a bottle of champagne. Treetop is set in the hillside above Ullapool and has glorious 360 degree views of Loch Broom and the surrounding mountains seen through its huge windows. The colours of the mountains, loch and vegetation outside are reflected in the colours and shapes used in the interior and exterior design of the house, so that it blends perfectly into its landscape. We stayed in Treetops at the beginning of March in the most amazing snowy conditions which haven't been experienced in the North of Scotland for more than 10 years. Where does one start to review the house: the location is stunning with panoramic views high over Ullapool and the Summer Isles and should be experienced to be believed. The twinkling lights over Ullapool in the evening were simply magical. This experience was one of those moments that will be remembered for a long time to come. Treetops is extremely comfortable and luxurious with everything that you could possibly want for your comfort... log fire with ample supply of logs, underfloor heating, sauna and very comfortable bedrooms. Treetops has the WOW factor.The house is beautifully designed and well equipped and Rachel had made up a welcome hamper with local smoked salmon and Ullapool cheeses. She also had cleared huge amounts of snow from the paths and had bottle chilling in a bucket with 4 glasses ready for our arrival. This house is very special and even has its own private waterfall. Hundreds of photographs were taken in an extremely unique situation in deep deep snow. Absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit . I hope I will return at another time of year to experience a different season.

We were blown away on entering the house. It is one of the most beautifully designed houses that we have ever been in.
Every detail has been thought through carefully.

My wife, daughter (1) and I stayed in the Treetop House for three nights in January. Our expectations were high, especially after reading all highly positive on this website, but they were surpassed nevertheless (which, generally, does not happen very often in our case).

Gavin and Rachel were attentive, warm and personal hosts (whilst fully respecting our privacy and only in our private space at our initiative). We were impressed by their attention to detail and style, resulting in a holiday house that felt luxurious, homey and original all at the same time (and furthermore brand new, as they do not seem to tolerate any wear-and-tear and apparently refurbish everything frequently). This even meant that our daughter did not need to sleep in the customary travel cot, but in a magazine-proof wooden baby bed with a real mattress.

We also liked how that the Treetop House was situated next to a small waterfall (lighted at night, and visible from both the dining area and bathtub), gave direct access to excellent hiking trails (suitable for most and well signposted) and had panorama's over snow-powdered mountains, Loch Broom and Ullapool (which is lovely and only a stone's throw away).

We would have liked to sta longer to simply unwind, and the only feedback we can give is that carefully designed lighting plan resulted in a lot of switches to operate (truly, we cannot think of anything else).

The Treetop House is simply an excellent stay and also great value (we have stayed in other houses in Scotland within this price range and these simply did not meet the exceptionally high standards of Gavin and Rachel).

We had a really perfect getaway at Treetop House in late November 2017. The drive from Inverness airport was really easy and the welcome from Gavin and Rachel when we arrived was so lovely, complete with local produce waiting for us and even a bottle of prosecco on ice!
Treetop House is beautifully designed, making the most of the stunning views from every part of the property. Ullapool itself is a lovely little town, with some great walks right from the doorstep.
We feel as though we've discovered somewhere we'll be returning to for years to come, and can't wait for our next visit.

What an amazing place, we'd obviously seen the pictures when we booked but were surprised to find it even more beautiful in reality!!! We booked this for our honeymoon and the hosts gave us a wonderful welcome of flowers and chilled wine, plus other supplies to kick off our stay.
The views were fantastic and even during stormy weather it was great to sit indoors reading a book in front of the log burner and watching it all unfold from the huge windows. This really is a great location, 5 minute walk into Ullapool and with direct access to the hill paths via a gate from the property and did I mention the views :-)
We will definitely be staying again.........

We were blown away on entering this property. It is stunning from the outside alone. This is the most beautifully designed house that we have ever been in. Every detail has been thought through carefully. There are beautiful views from every room and window.
Wonderfully comfortable beds, really lovely bed linen too. All of the appliances work, we particularly enjoyed the Sauna. The heating system is fantastic the house was always cosy and warm to come back to with underfloor heating throughout. We would love to experience this house in all seasons and will definitely be coming back!!

We spent a week at Treetop House and found the house and location to be wonderful. The house is so interesting, incredibly well built, accommodating - and with amazing views. I cannot think of anything to improve the house. Gavin and Rachael provided smoked salmon, cheese, milk etc., to welcome us. Gavin bought a selection of craft beers for us, which were all excellent. They also provide lots of information about the area, hikes, things to do. They have created a wonderful accommodation and follow through with great personal attention.

We booked into Treetops for my 60 birthday as I wanted to get away from it all. It is the most beautiful house and location. Near enough to walk into Ullapool and remote and private enough to escape from daily life.
The photos of Treetops are wonderful however when you actually get inside it is even more spectacular. The owners Gavin and Rachel have thought of everything from top quality kitchen equipment to luxurious toiletries.
I would definitely recommend this place if you can get booked in as 2018 is already heavily booked

Treetop House is most beautifully situated. The views are breath-taking and there is a waterfall in the garden - very romantic. There are three patios so that you can make the most of it any time of the day. The architecture of Treetop House is exceptional, the interior and the furnishing are very elegant. Behind the house you can walk up the hill and enjoy the wonderful landscape surrounding Ullapool which is a lovely village with excellent restaurants and cafes and nice shops. Our hosts gave us a more than warm welcome providing us with a delicious hamper and champagne. They also gave very helpful advice to make it easy for us to plan our outings and to explore the surrounding area. We actually didn't want to leave and we hope to return soon.

This is a simply stunning place to stay. Rachel and Gavin are such wonderful hosts - nothing is too much trouble. The houses are beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. Every single detail is thought of: from the champagne and welcome selection of local produce, down to the flowers and toiletries and beautiful linen. At our time in life we like to stay in nice accommodation. We choose an area we want to visit and try to get the best one we can for the time we want to book. I would say therefore that we have stayed in some very nice cottages over the years ( Dipper and Sky Loch Tay and Meadow Barn near Leyburn in Yorkshire deserve special mention) and in our opinion this has been the best. The views are fantastic, the accommodation luxurious and facilities excellent. We could watch the comings and goings in Ullapool Harbour and views of the Summer Isles in the various light conditions was stunning. The sound of the waterfall whilst having breakfast outside is very relaxing and jus out the back is a private gate that takes you on to a path up Ullapool Hill where the views are even more amazing. There are a lot of good walks from the cottage or a short drive away. Ullapool is a very nice town with good places to eat. We will definitely come back.

This place really is amazing and we loved it! A fantastic place whatever the weather. Luxurious and spacious accommodation with incredible views from all rooms stretching across the mountains and Loch Broom up to The Summer Isles and beyond. The luxury main bathroom has the best shower ever. The Highland Soap Company toiletries, candles and welcome basket of local produce were extra special touches .Outside the views and space continue to impress including garden, woodland, "private" waterfall and 3 patio terraces. Great walks from the door with private access to the hill behind. Quiet, private and secluded with everything you need yet easy walking distance to Ullapool village with all it`s facilities and opportunities. A great base to explore this area of Scotland and surrounding islands. The thoughtful carefully prepared resource and information folder provides a wealth of information and suggestions where to go and what to do. As we were leaving there was a rustle in the trees below our car, when we looked we came face to face with a beautiful red deer stag - quite magical and the perfect ending to our wonderful stay at Treetop House! Thanks to our hosts Rachel and Gavin who are friendly, charming and helpful without being intrusive- for all their thought, care and attention to detail providing such a wonderful holiday retreat which we very much appreciated.

The views of Loch Broom, the Summer Isles and sometimes the Outer Hebrides from the panoramic windows have to be seen to be believed. The changing weather, sea and cloud formations are added bonuses to the view, particularly as the daylight extends in the Spring and Summer months.
The interesting accommodation, facilities and the 3 patio areas at Tree Tops may be difficult to leave but Ullapool is a good location to tour out from.
Tree Tops is of course a very interesting building development on an excellent vantage point above Ullapool, where within 10 minutes walk there are opportunities for boat trips, eating - the small and friendly Gelato's ice cream outlet is definitely recommended, as well as pubs and cafes and the Sea Food "Bar" - and 7 days a week, late night shopping is available at Tesco. Ullapool is excellent for in and out of town walks as well as for just sitting and watching - something all holidays should include especially in this part of Scotland.

There is not much more to add to the wealth of praise from other guests for Treetop House. We have been visiting the West Coast of Scotland for 25 years ( mostly the Outer Hebrides) and this is simply the best place we have stayed in by a long way. The house is immaculate, the views lovely, the bedroom fantastic and led in the bath watching the waterfall in spate on the last day with a glass of Merlot was a treat. The layout inside has been carefully thought out and the outside spaces perfectly integrated into the rest of the house, afforded a different view from each one. We enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine on the patio at the back of the house and early evening drinks with the setting sun at the front. Our only criticism was self inflicted; we should have booked for 2 weeks.

Finally, Rachel was lovely and welcoming, never intrusive but you felt able to call on her should you be needed. Our first but definitely not our last visit.

As soon as we walked in we knew this house was something special. Absolutely spotless, furnished beautifully with sensational views. We could have not enjoyed any property more. We have never in 26 years of married life slept in a bed so comfortable whilst on holiday. My husband and I do like luxury and have a lovely home ourselves but this exceeded all our expectations. Delicious food gifts were left for us and a bottle of prosseco. Every little detail thought of for your comfort. We had a wonderful stay at the Stone Houses. They were impossibly perfect and the attention to detail really made it. The only disappointment we had was having to leave. It was expensive but you get what you pay for and as it was a special birthday celebration we felt it was worth it. Unfortunately I fear this has ruined all future holidays as nowhere will measure up!

This is an amazing house in a spectacular location. Very friendly hosts and townspeople in general. Very warm and welcoming. Ullapool has all the ingredients of a stunning place with everything you need for a relaxing time staying in and cooking gourmet meals in a beautiful environment or venturing out sight seeing if you prefer.
The house is architect designed and very beautiful with it's very own waterfall in the back garden, stunning bathroom and amazing views from every window.

We have stayed in numerous properties in the UK over the years and this, by far, has been the most outstanding. The attention to detail is superb, every comfort thought about...which makes you forget that the weather isn't quite as you would like it to be! Watching the changing views in the rain is just as enjoyable as when it is sunny. Due to the location, it would be equally enjoyable at any time of the year, in fact, if it was closer, we would like to stay during the winter and use the log burner. This is one property that we will be visiting again, highly recommended.

We enjoyed a lovely week at the Tree Top House for our honeymoon in May; Gavin & Rachel were very welcoming in their pre-stay communication and helpful in showing us round on arrival. There is tons of attention to detail in this absolutely unique home, with gorgeous pottery, good quality appliances and bathroom fittings, tasteful decor and great landscaping all round. We had superb weather so took advantage of the outside space; we agreed it would be stunning to be inside on a stormy day but weren't sure how we'd have found the dash from car parking space up 40 steps to the front door during a rainier week! Knowing the hosts there would be an umbrella tucked away to borrow - they have thought of everything! All in all we'd definitely recommend the Tree Top House for a luxury self catering week in a beautiful part of the world.

The stonehouses really are providing a luxury self-catering option which we have certainly never come across before. Rachel and Gavin are fantastic. They provide a warm welcome and a quick and easy tour of the cottage. Nothing is a bother for them to help you out with including sourcing very 'fresh' langoustine for us.....they were waving at us when Gavin delivered them to the door!!

We stayed in the treetop house which was absolutely spotless on arrival and finished to an extremely high standard. The welcome basket was delicious and a lovely touch. There is nothing that Gavin and Rachel have not thought of to make your stay easy, comfortable and luxurious. We ended up spending a lot of time in the cottage as it is just such a wonderful place to be.

If you're looking for escapism and complete relaxation from a busy life then this is definitely the place to come. We have already re-booked for next year!

We visited Treetop at the Stonehouses in Ullapool for a very short stay, a long way to go from Edinburgh but it was worth it.
As soon as you go through the front door the still and quiet of the house surrounds you and forces any stress or tension from you, by the time you've climbed the stairs to the living space you've travelled much further than the few hundred miles in the car. It is so far removed from my life in town that before I had unpacked I had completely moved in. It's such a wonderful space to be in. The views are breathtaking and ever changing, the weather bringing all sorts of colours and drama to a skyline void of towers or office blocks.
It was so wonderful we decided to stay in for dinner, a quick trip to the supermarket and I spent my night off cooking, but it wasn't a chore. The kitchen has the feel of a ship's wheelhouse, the curved windows affording a fantastic view at every angle, from sink to cooker.
The house almost forces you to relax, we left the kids at home and this space was perfect for a quiet retreat from family life.
We slept with the blinds open and woke to a pink sky as the morning crept in on us, by the time we got up the sky was a dark grey and the weather had closed in, the house was warm and quiet, we relaxed over breakfast and enjoyed watching the weather front move through without touching us.
The sauna has a view towards the hill, different trees and plants a back drop that adds to the sense of tranquility.
We usually go to hotels for a touch of luxury but Treetops is a totally different experience that offers much more than a 5 star hotel, the privacy, the facilities and the space far surpass any hotel suite.
The house is simply fantastic, I was sorry not to sat longer as I'm sure a week there would be a better detox than any health spa could offer.

Everything abut Treetop was perfect in our view - the design, lay out and furnishing of the house is amazing, in a spectacular hilltop setting, complete with waterfall. It is clear that the house was designed to make the most of the 180 degree views of the loch and mountains, with floor to ceiling windows throughout. This also makes the accommodation very light, which was particularly appreciated as we were staying in January. After a day of walking in the hills we always looked forward to coming back to Treetop to relax and snuggle up in the cosy yet spacious house. The sauna was also much appreciated given the time of year and we made use of it almost everyday.
Gavin and Rachel were excellent hosts and responded quickly and kindly to any queries both before and during our stay - nothing was too much trouble. For us this made the holiday even better because hospitality is so important.
Thank you both for an excellent experience in your beautiful holiday house.

It might be a long way to Ullapool, but in both directions, the journey surprised us by being straightforward. At the end of the stay, we left feeling that we'd only scratched the surface of things to discover and love about Treetop, its setting, and the landscape.

Also, we felt very well looked after by Gavin and Rachel. To add to the experience, they have managed to pull off the unlikely trick of weatherproofing the Scottish holiday. When the weather closes in, it's an additional excuse to spend more time in the house, which, despite all the (lovely) glazing, has effective heating and is snug. If cabin fever does bite, Ullapool's resources are a few minutes walk away - as is the network of footpaths on the higher ground behind the Stone Houses.

Not the stuff for a review as they're notoriously fickle, but we were lucky enough to see aurora. What *is* useful to know is that I'd been thinking that the Stone Houses would not have a low enough northern horizon for aurora. As it happened, Treetop offers the memorable opportunity to sit up in bed at 2am to watch the northern lights running far out to the north west, cutting through above the glow from the village streets.

So, what could be better? A 'Dark skies' policy for Ullapool perhaps. (The up side to this is that the place is close at hand and just a walk away)

What could be better about Treetop though? After a day in the place, its attractions somehow begin to exceed any photo. If there were nothing else (and there's much else besides), the best bathroom in Wester Ross is at hand. Overall, this leaves you with the durable feeling that courtesy of inspired work and dedication from the people who have worked to create it, you've enjoyed life in a lovely 21st century building and in a captivating part of the world.

The Treetop house is an architectural gem. It's spacious design makes the very best of the 360 degree beautiful views, including loch, mountains, silver birch forest and waterfall. It feels calm and luxurious and cosy all at the same time. Attention has been paid to every little detail. The free standing bath and luxury rain shower, the sauna and kitchen facilities are all top end. We were left wanting for nothing. The friendliest of welcomes from Dawn, who looks after the stonehouses when the owners are away, started our 1 week honeymoon at the Treetop house. She sourced some beautiful (and rather large!) langoustine for us which we whiled away the afternoon preparing and cooking for our supper on one of the days. Detailed driving itinerary routes were provided which we used to explore the breathtakingly beautiful surrounding area, to include pristine beaches, forest walks and mountain climbs. We could not have picked better for our honeymoon. The treetop house exceeded our expectations. We would like to thank Gavin and Rachel for building this fantastic building and for the holiday of a lifetime.

Northwest Scotland is an awesome place, the mountains of Assynt have to be seen to be believed, and Ullapool is probably the best base: it has enough going on to keep you busy on the less sunny days, with more than its fair share of good pubs, restaurants and galleries.
Treetops is a beautiful house, it's well designed, spotlessly clean, and perched on the side of a hill - has amazing views.
The owners - Gavin and Rachel - do an excellent job of providing a warm welcome, and happily provide advice on things to do and places to go. They do a good job of being helpful without ever being obtrusive.

This is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding places I have ever stayed in - from the breathtaking location, to the incredible attention to detail that Gavin and Rachel have put into their properties, to the peace and serenity of this place...wow, we were just so impressed. Summer holiday and also celebration of our 20th anniversary.
We set out for our first foray to Ullapool intent to spoil ourselves with some nice accommodation and a chance to sample some of the finest scenery and hillwalking the Assynt area could offer.
We had 'hummed and hawed' over which of the two stonehouses to choose and ended up going for the treetop house *. On arrival we were more than happy with our choice. The treetop house was more impressive in reality than our expectations from the website.
Immediately felt the holiday vibes kick in and felt relaxed. Over the course of the week don't think we wanted for anything that wasn't already provided. From the general accommodation, to the sauna, the sound system, tv package, several terraces, views from all around the house (especially the en-suite bathroom - first time I've sat on the pan whilst admiring a waterfall!!)- everything was catered for.
Loved it!
*Cheekily hung about on departure waiting for guests in the other stonehouse to depart, so we could ask for a nosey around that property. Was just as impressive as the one we had spent the previous week in and have now booked that one to return to for our next holiday.

Our recent stay at Treetop House in Ullapool was just heavenly.
We couldn't get over how spacious the accommodation was in reality.The house is huge!
Everywhere your eye rested there was some detail in the architecture or in the decoration to delight.Gavin and Rachel clearly have great taste!
I loved having a sauna all to myself ...pure bliss! And my husband adored the waterfall which cascades down the hillside at the rear of the house.
And l of course the views were heavenly,in all directions.
We appreciated the lovely champagne and locally goodies which the couple had provided ....a really nice touch.
We know and love Ullapool and the surrounding area very well but this luxurious accommodation made this recent stay truly special. The location within a few minutes walk of the village bars and restaurants is ideal .We cannot wait to experience Treetop House at a different time of year.

A delightful place to stay and a welcome bright and warm refuge after a day hiking the wet and windy hills. Gavin and Rachel are very thoughtful and the house an architectural gem and very luxurious. The only minor negative note is the design leads to a somewhat quirky kitchen but that didn't slow us down much as we tended to have dinners in town. I highly recommend a stay here...just not when we plan on returning!

After a frantic week and emotional wedding day we really need a week of rest, relaxation and luxury. That is exactly what we got at Treetops. Treetops exceeded all of our expectations, a truly stunning property in a remarkable location. Waking up each day was special and just 'being' in the property felt life enhancing. Rachel gave us a very warm welcome, all the information provided on things to do and places to go was excellent, we planned all our activities around what was recommended in the visitor folder and weren't disappointed once. Lochinverlarder pies were a particular highlight! The luxury shampoos and conditioners were a treat too and very convenient if you're trying to travel light. Our honeymoon was utterly wonderful and that is in no small part down to Treetops, Rachel&Gavin. Thank you so much - we will be coming back.

We went there for the second time. the hospitality and the condition of the house is still excellent. compare to other villages and towns in west highland and the Hebrides ullapool is also a very nice place to stay. relatively convenient with unspoilt surroundings. unlike some even wilder places in the outer hebrides you have to drive miles to find a restaurant when you are already very tired.

The condition of this property is extremely well kept by Rachel and Gavin. they are also very caring and considering about our stay. we have been given a very warm welcome upon arrival. all the information you need about the house and the local attractions are orgnised in a folder. also rachel and gavin are always happy to help. you could tell they wanted us to have a good experience. we have been asked if thicker duvet is needed when the temperature dropped a little.
