Spent a week in Spiddal Cottage. Great location, only a short walk to the village with loads of shops/pubs. Very comfortable cottage and perfect for a family of 4 and a pet. Patsy was there to greet us and answer any questions we had, lovely lady and very helpful. We will definitely be back

Our Host, Patsy, was very welcoming on arrival and on hand should we have needed anything during our stay. Everything one could want in a 'home from home' was provided for and Spiddal Cottage was cosy and perfect for three adults. From the house, it was a ten minute walk to the village and fifteen to the beach and small pier. We were very happy with our few days stay at Spiddal Cottage and would have no issue recommending it.



A lovely comfortable house with spacious bedrooms.

The Spiddal cottage was in a very central location in Spiddal. The rooms were spacious and airy. It was very relaxing and comfortable in the house. I would highly recommend this house as an ideal base to discover the beauty of connemara and beyond.
The host Patsy was a lovely lady and could be more helpful.

We had a 5 day stay at Spiddal Cottage. We were welcomed by our lovely host and made to feel at home from the outset; she was always on hand but never intrusive. The cottage was spotless and well equipped and ideally placed to explore the beauty of Connemara. Highly recommended - particularly for dog owners!

This property is in an Ideal location, it is safe , has all the required amenities and is only a short walk to the beach.
Property is well equipped, clean, comfortable and functional.
Hostess is extremely friendly, warm and helpful.

A very nice holiday house. Comfortable, clean, well equipped and in perfect size for the family with two kids. In very good location to explore Connemara. Short walk to the town centre and the ocean site. Quiet at night, very private with a very friendly host.

We stood for 3 month in the chalet and we were very satisfied. The house has the exact right size for two persons to stay there for longer. We cooked every day in the well equipped kitchen. The owner Patsy was very friendly and helpful. We felt like at home and it was hard to say good bye.

The cottage is really cosy and it was lovely to have a real fire to cuddle up to when it was raining. PTsy gave us such a warm welcome with tea, coffee and scones as we arrived after a long journey. Nothing was too much trouble. The cottage itself was clean and very comfortable and in a brilliant location just a short walk from the sea. There is a handy bus that stops at the end of the road to go to Galway.

A warm and friendly welcome to this small cottage in Spiddal. The owner is the most friendly person you can imagine and very helpfull. Allthough the exact location was not exactly where the website showed, it was just a 7 minute walk to the village with good restaurants with live music and some shops. People in Spiddal are very friendly. A good place to be.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Only a short 5 min stroll to the main street, Spiddal Cottage provides very comfortable accommodation with nothing missing to make a most pleasant stay. The bedrooms are spacious with beds that are really comfortable and the sitting room and kitchen make you feel at home. At no time do you feel that you are in a "holiday" cottage where things are skimped, you could happily live here full time. It is ideally located for exploring Connemara with beaches and mountains within a short drive. Galway City isn't too far away if you want to have a look around there.
Host Patsy is charming and at hand should you need her but leaves you to get on with your stay.
Nothing more I can say really, but an added bonus is the fact that Spiddal Cottage is pet friendly.
(I know that this reads like a paid ad but I really did spend a week here, and having stayed a numerous other cottages in Connemara, Patsy's place stands head and shoulders above the rest!)

We loved our stay at Spiddal Cottage. Firstly, an exceptionally warm welcome from host Patsy Thornton. The cottage is cosy, fully equipped, spacious with a warm turf fire to add to the atmosphere.
As this was a Christmas break for my husband and myself, we were very pleasantly surprised at the trouble Patsy went to with decorating the cottage, a nice Christmas tree was all lit up on arrival.
We loved being so close to the sea (only 5 mins walk) and got to do some coastal walks. Spiddal is a very special part of the world. We came home totally refreshed and ready to ring in 2019. Thank you Patsy, we will be back.

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The owner ensured a warm welcome on our arrival and the cottage proved to be in a great location about a 5 minute walk from the bus and local shops and pubs and a 10 minute walk from the beach and pier which were very pretty. There are some great local pubs often with live music.
Galway is fairly close and accessible by bus and Connemara is on your doorstep.
We would highly recommend a stay in the cottage.

This is the second time we stayed in Patsy's cottage. We were made to feel very welcome and were well looked after. We stayed in December because we wanted​ go and visit Galway at Christmas and see the Christmas markets. The local town of Spiddal is a short walk and street lit for easy access to evening food, drinks or live music in Tigh Giblins. Looking forward to staying again.

This has become one of my favourite places in Spiddal and I just can't stop myself from going back. I went out of my way to find a time when the cottage was not booked for this trip because I feel at home there. I have everything I need and I can easily walk to An Ceardlann Spiddal Craft Cottages where I get the most amazing gifts to take back home to Canada. Patsy is a delightful woman who goes above and beyond to make sure I have everything I need even when she is busy with other things. Her, or her family are always there if I need something. I also love the smell of the peat fire in the evenings while I make a lovely dinner in the well equipped kitchen. I highly recommend this place for people who are looking for a place to settle in and enjoy time exploring Connemara and the Aran Islands and have a nice place to make a lovely meal and get cosy by the fire at the end of a day adventuring on the Wild Atlantic West Coast.

Our stay at the cottage was fine. The bed was uncomfortable but not unexpected as we knew this wasn't a hotel. The most disappointing thing was we booked this cottage over others because of the free wi-fi. You could not use it in the cottage at all. We finally figured out the last day that if we stood outside we could use it.

Spiddal Cottage has become one of my favorite places to stay. It is centrally located for me to be able to drive around the west of Ireland, just a 15 minute drive from Galway City right on the coast. This year I went to Limerick and Clifden with my daughter. I also had the fun of showing my daughter the beautiful artisan shops of Ceardlann an Spidéil. We were able to make food in the well equipped kitchen and I even made bread. I have everything I need in the cottage which is perfect as I am traveling from the West coast of Canada and can only bring one suitcase. Our host Patsy is such a delight, giving information about the area and providing us with all the information we need to have a comfortable and pleasant holiday. I am quite sure I will be back. An Spidéal - áit iontach a bheith.

We had a nice stay in Sppidal Cottage. It is perfectly situated: short walking distance to the beach, the village with nice pubs and restaurants, to a little shop and the very nice craft village. It is very easy to get into Galway City (by bus or car) and onto the Aran Islands. We enjoyed our stay very much. Patsy - the owner - is very nice, kind and helpful. We'll come back one day.

The cottage had everything we needed and Patsy had thought of lots of little details which help at the start of a holiday. She was on hand if we needed anything, but let us get on with things, so we could enjoy our break.
Spiddal is a lovely village, with beautiful beaches and a craft village. The beaches were perfect for walking the dog and were within easy walking distance. The craft village is well worth a visit with a wide range of handcrafted gifts - all those things you never knew you needed!
I would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Patsy, for making us so welcome.

Had a pleasant stay Found the owner very pleasant and helpful. When we arrived we felt very welcome and the owner had left us with some fruit, milk tea and coffee which we found to be very nice of her. We would certainly reccomend her to any one wanting to stay near Spiddal village.

We had a lovely time coming home from adventures all over Connemara and beyond to a lovely cottage where we would warm up the cottage with a lovely peat fire.

The kitchen had all the amenities needed for a delicious dinner and our hostess knew the best places for us to get our groceries.

Our bedrooms were very comfortable and we had all the blankets needed to keep warm at night. In addition we had washroom facilities with a shower and laundry facilities as well as a drying tree just outside the cottage.

The cottage was in a very good location close to the restaurants and pubs of Spiddal. It was also ideal as a base for touring the wonderful Connemara countryside. The cottage was very cosy, well equipped and the open turf fire was brilliant for the cool evenings.
