Park cottage is one of our most popular cottages, having evolved from what was a traditional two up/two down stalker’s cottage probably dating from Victorian times. There is a secluded, sheltered garden surrounded by fields and immediate access to the hill behind the house. All linen is provided (except towels). Upstairs are 3 bedrooms (Double bed, Twin Beds x2), bathroom with bath, WC & wash basin, Downstairs, living room with open fire, pine lined Dining Room with log stove, fully equipped Kitchen including dishwasher, washing machine/tumble dryer and drying room. Additional Bathroom with shower, WC & wash basin. The cottage also has a TV, dvd & cd players & WiFi.

We have holidayed at Park several times with family / friends and always enjoyed it. Great location, comortable beds, spacious well equipped kitchen as well as excellent and friendly estate staff if needed. Cottage has had an upgrade so brighter and lighter.
Poor weather but family still managed cycling, paddle boarding, pony rides etc. The wood burning stove was appreciated on the coolest nights. Plan to return to Alvie next year.

Es war wieder eine schöne erholsame Zeit in Alvie. Als wir das Haus betraten, strahlte es im neuem Glanz. es wurde viel renoviert und wir fühlten uns gleich wohl. Neue Betten und neuer Boden fielen gleich ins Auge. Außerdem schlief man sehr gut in den neuen Betten. Der Service war wieder hervorragend. Wir werden wieder kommen. Sehr nettes Personal im Büro.

This was our third year in a row staying at Park Cottage in the May school holidays (England). It was me, my husband, our two girls (4 and 13) and our two dogs. We had another wonderful stay and were sad to leave, as always. The updates to the cottage are beautiful, we always liked the rustic charm of the place before but they've done a fantastic job bringing it a bit more up to date. The kitchen is so well equipped and the bedrooms are just beautiful now. The addition of the log burner in the living room is perfect, the fireplace before was also great but the log burner is much easier to light and manage and definitely keeps the room warmer. The new beds are all extremely comfortable. Park Cottage is a very, very special place and we would certainly like to return again when we can.

My fourth stay on Alvie Estate over the course of 18 years. Park Cottage has recently been beautifully renovated and decorated. Whilst there has of course been change to the estate over the years, the things that matter have always stayed the same - the friendly people working and living on the estate, the sense of peace and tranquility, the cottage truly feeling like your home away from home, and the stunning views of the majestic mountains. I will be back again!

Love this house. It’s not the cleanest, the decor, books, wall pictures not changed for at least the 13 years since we have been visiting but there is something homely about it and it keeps drawing us back! The customer service is amazing and very helpful. The kitchen is very well equipped. The location is ideal if you want peaceful getting away from it all vibe. Only improvement I’d suggest is just maybe updating books/magazines/games and cleaning cobwebs and behind things and it would score higher in cleanliness. It’s also not a modern cottage so if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t for you. We will be back as usual!

A very enjoyable weeks stay in this characterful cottage with wonderful views.
Well equipped and comfortable.
'Old fashioned' but meant as a compliment as all the facilities one needs.
Good prompt response when we had a minor issue with understanding how heating was controlled. Sorted within 10 minutes.

We returned to this large and comfortable cottage in a great location for a three generation family holiday. Warm, clean and spacious with comfortable beds. Ready access to local lochs and mountains as well as Aviemore when food and drink cupboards needing restocking. Friendly and helpful staff. Weather was disappointing this year but we were out most days and have booked for next year.

Wir haben mit Freunden aus England diesen Urlaub im Park Cottage geplant. Der war wieder einmal sehr schön und entspannend. Die Küche war sehr gut eingerichtet und wir haben viel gekocht.
Wir konnten eine Menge Rotwild auf den Wiesen hinter dem Cottage beobachten. Ich bin im September noch einmal mit Freunden in diesem Cottage. Jeder Zeit zu empfelen. Vielen dank an dem Customer Service.

As our family have grown over the years we have been to this cottage many times, Park cottage has still amazed us all, why pay for a day at the zoo when the feeling of the zoo comes to your door. The new kitchen is bliss, the quiet surroundings also bliss, the zip wire on the door step as are walks a plenty. To chill and use as your base, you set the pace I. Such a lovely place. Sad to say we’re back home now, next year we’ll see you again.

We had a fabulous stay on the Alvie estate with family occupying 2 of the cottages. We love park cottage and the addition of a new sofa was very welcome.

We love the garden and it would be great if there was a good set of furniture for the warm weather as the back of the house is a suntrap.

There are a few wee bits of maintenance that if completed would make it extra special, the main bathroom window when open could do with a proper clean and the wardrobe in the main bedroom needs attention, I also think a fresh coat of white in the dining room and a chair like in Easter deltoir would be great too.

These of course are picky things and we’ve already booked park for next year.

The estate as a whole, I would say that quarry activities were at a peak when we were resident so some noise and lots of dust- this was not an issue though.

Splendid week with many thanks to all. Only very minor problem which was periodic related to the water system from the upstairs toilet. Toilet flushed perfectly but there was intermittent water activity down the pipes. Did it matter - no- settling by week end so not a real issue.
Hope to come back. Not having been to stay for three years, it was so good to see the Estate looking so focused, all so neat, staff so welcoming and with an added air of confidence. The location is unbeatable. Watched 16 deer one evening walking past near Park House- a delight.

My husband, two daughters (2 and 11), two dogs and I stayed at Park Cottage for a week. My parents took me to Alvie estate several times as a child and we stayed in the main house so it was just lovely to come back as an adult with my own children. The cottage is in the most beautiful location - it's so peaceful and feels very remote (but in reality it's only a few minutes by car into Aviemore which is so convenient). My eldest daughter fell in love with the cows and we loved our evening visits from pheasants and even deer on a couple of occasions. The cottage and kitchen is very well equipped, we didn't want for anything during our stay and whilst the extent of the cooking I did was to chuck a couple of frozen pizzas in the oven - I could have cooked a three course meal with no issues. The beds were very comfortable and the shower worked well. There is so much to do nearby and we were up and out every day doing activities so it was lovely to come back in the evenings to relax. Some of the reviews mention the sofas in the living room need updating, I think this has now been done as there was a large sofa and an armchair that differ to the photos and they were extremely comfortable. The large enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs and our girls loved having little races with each other running all the way around the house. We've made some wonderful memories at Park Cottage that will last a lifetime and we're already deciding on which dates to return next year! Thanks so much Alvie Estate!

We really enjoyed our stay at Park Cottage. It is in a lovely setting. The cottage itself is well laid out and well equipped. We found it nice and cosy and there was no need to light the fire. Even tho the weather was at bit overcast while we were there, we could still enjoy the views from the windows and garden. Loved seeing the neighbours e.g. the deer, sheep with lambs and the pheasants. There was part of the cottage that could do with a little maintenance and that was in the place where you put your walking shoes and coats. There is a bit of uneven flooring and the door to the outside in that area was awkward to open and close.

What a lovely property! Totally left to chill out and relax with no interference. Views from the cottage are stunning, as is the wildlife. The garden was enclosed which enabled my two greyhounds to run around and burn off their energy. The new kitchen is well stocked with crockery, pots and pans etc. We stayed in the larger of the twin rooms and the beds were really comfortable. The only bug bear we had was the poor condition of the sofas in the living room….they were so uncomfortable to sit in. Maybe it’s time for some replacements. Absolutely adored the boot room, a brilliant space. We would visit again if we knew that the sofas had been replaced

Park Cottage is in an ideal location for visiting nearby Aviemore and the Cairngorms. There's also plenty of walking directly from the cottage. There are stunning views from every window of the house and we even sat outside one afternoon to soak in the views as it would have been a shame to stay inside, even in January.
The house itself is spacious and was spotlessly clean with a well equipped, large kitchen. I stayed in the double bedroom which was light and airy with a comfortable bed and plenty of storage. My friends came over to stay and also agreed that the twin beds were comfy. The comunication from Alvie Estate staff was extremely friendly and Paul went out of his way to check on a couple of my queries before my arrival.
The enclosed garden was ideal for my two large dogs to happily run around like loons in with no fear that they could escape.
Good water pressure from the shower and the heating warmed the house through, with the addition of the real fire to make it extra cosy.
I would agree with previous reviews that the 3 seater sofa could do with a bit of attention, but it didn't detract from my stay at all.
I'd certainly recommend this lovely house to anyone who wanted a home from home in the Cairngorms.

Shortage of tableware : only 6 for 6, so need to wash it after every meal. Impossib le to get guests for a meal.
Would be better to double it.

Both Park and Easter Delfour where some of the group stayed for a few days were very clean and we appreciated warmth of fire some evenings. We hit the heatwave so hot most day. Plan to return

Alvie Estate and Park Cottage was a great place to stay. Plenty of fresh air and walks to do. Our only complaint was that the hot water was scalding and although it's great to have hot water, felt a bit dangerous with children about.
We will definitely be back soon, thanks again !

As a regular visitor to the area in general for many years and in particular to Alvie where our daughter got married 5 years ago we love to return when we can and especially with all members of the family. We have not stayed at Park Cottage before but loved the location, the open fire and the general ambience (though may be a bit tired in places) . We would be Very happy to return but maybe as a minimum would suggest a more comfortable/modern lounge suite and an updated downstairs shower room but that would certainly not prevent us from returning!! Hope to come back again soon xxx

Three generation holiday for a week. Secure large garden for grandchildren with picnic bench and basic BBQ supplied. Near pony trekking which they enjoyed as well as watching the cows, sheep and occasional deer in the fields around. Easy access to lochs and mountains for the more active as well as Highland Wildlife Park and Strathspey Steam Railway. Short drive into Aviemore or Kincraig if supermarket shops needed but local farm shops too.
Good spacious kitchen with modern dishwasher and washing machine.

This cottage had everything we needed. A great location, ample parking, the cottage itself was very clean and homely. There was a big well equipped kitchen, a lovely cosy sitting room with open fire, logs provided, and comfortable beds. It was well heated and lots of hot water, essential when coming back from the mountains cold and wet. There was lots to do on the estate including walks directly from the cottage. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We all loved the place and hope to return in the future.

We had a lovely stay at Park Cottage. The location is excellent with stunning views. The cottage layout was perfect for us and the beds were comfy. The cottage could do with some upgrading, it looks a little tired in places. We struggled a bit with the shower which went from icy cold to very hot. Some of the wallpaper was peeling and there were a lot of cobwebs up high. Overall we loved staying in the cottage, thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and hope to return next year.

A wonderful property in a fantastic location. Park cottage is very comfortable and homely. It is the ideal place to access the highlands. We were here to do some Uni field work on the river Feshie. Our car broke down right at the start of the week which could have been a disaster. Everyone in the estate office , particularly Haley, could not have been more helpful and turned a near disaster into a successful trip. Thank you .

We had a pleasant stay at the Park Cottage. The cottage is a really old but beautiful building. We were with 4 adults and one 14 year old, but there was plenty of place in the cottage. The only thing was the shower..... Note that you can only use the shower when nobody else in the whole cottage uses water (not even to fill a cup with water) Otherwise the shower will turn cold and it takes a while to warm up again!

We are frequent visitors to Speyside but hadn't stayed at Alvie Estate before. We were pleased to be in a cottage on its own, with a fenced 'garden' that we could let the dogs out into safely. It is a spacious comfortable traditional building with character and was lovely to be able to walk up the hill behind, directly from the cottage. It was very cold on our arrival and took a while for the heating to be effective, but from then on was very warm and is very well heated. Lots of wood provided for the open fire. (Could do with a bit more lighting in the kitchen). A great weekend.

We had a great time at Park Cottage the location was amazing set in the Alvie Estate looking out onto a mountain range, beautiful. The cottage is original inside and has character. The open fire and new central heating means it's lovely and cosy. I would highly recommend this cottage if you have dogs and kids, the garden is fenced in so it;s perfect.

My Great Grandfather was the Manager at Home Farm for more than 40 years and my Grandfather worked on the farm for more than 20, so I was really looking forward to a trip to the Estate as part of a bigger trip to Scotland (we live in Australia now) with my children and other family members. We stayed at Park Cottage which was in a beautiful location, very spacious and cosy with a fireplace. The kitchen had everything we might have needed. I can thoroughly recommend the cottage to others.

We had some problems with the oven (electricity and fuse) making it impossible to use the oven correctly.

We also had to face problems with the evacuation of the water of wash-machine.

The oven was replaced and the problems of evacuation of the water solved.

The shed used for the falcons was dirty and full of garbage and charcoal, that we had to clean. We would like to have a clean pen another year. To our request, electricity was provided with a portable led-lamp..

What a wonderful place. The house is brilliant and really well equipped. Wood and Coal in the living room with the fire already set - attention to detail like that REALLY helps.

Can't say anything at all bad against it. It's an old, charming and character filled house which was cosy and comfortable. The wood-pellet boiler is super efficient and got the house warm in no time.

Kitchen is very well equipped and there is LOADS to do. No light pollution at night so we star gazed to our hearts content.

Enjoy your stay if you chose to go to Alvie. We (5 of us) certainly did...

Park Cottage has 3 cosy bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The kitchen has every utensil you need to cook with and the dining room was a lovely place to dine in. Loved the open fire in the lounge. Great location, superb views and walks. Hope to return to try out the zip wire. Garden wasn't fully enclosed our dog could slide under the gate. But really no problem, we kept her on a long lead, there are so many walks off the lead right on your doorstep.

Lovely cottage in stunning surroundings. Loved feeling remote but with easy access to Aviemore and all the cycle trails. Had some lovely runs straight from the four of the cottage right into the hills. Plenty of activities to do on the estate itself. Staff were very helpful with bookings. Zip wire was fab!
The cottage was clean and homely. Just remember towels!
Would definitely recommend a stay here and we plan to come again

Nice cottage, very very quite. A bit far from the shops (20' by car).
The condition was OK, some small malfunctions, but these were quickly adressed by the friendly personell.
When we arrived, there was no one that came by to give us some explanation. But when we could reach someone at the office, they were very friendly.
I can recommend the zipline activity on site.

We stayed here prior to and following our sons wedding, the reception was held in Alvie House. It was all fantastic and the memories will stay with us for ever. The main house was just amazing and it ensured that the day was something really special.Heidi was so helpful and always had a smile on her face, all the staff were great.

Park Cottage was comfortable and warm and had everything we needed. The view from the window was amazing, the mountains, the daffodils, the pheasants, lambs and grouse............The only minor point is that the sofa in the sitting room is a bit lumpy and could do with an upgrade but otherwise it was a lovely place to stay.

We would definitely return and recommend.

Park Cottage in Alvie Estate is the best pace I have ever found for a holiday that allows peace and quiet to relax on days when you feel like it, and activity packed on days when you feel like something fun to do. The cottage is cosy and has a lovely log fire for when there is a chill in the air. My family love all the activities available on the estate, especially the zip wire, archery and clay pigeon shooting. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend Alvie Estate for any duration of holiday, whether it's a weekend break or a fortnight.

The cottage is in a wonderful location and is actually a nice building that's well equipped as a holiday home, but it is a bit dingy and grubby and could really do with a coat of paint. I would stay there again, as it is very convenient, but lighting the stove and the open fire even in summer was essential to try to lift the feeling of damp neglect and try to add some cheer. The other problem was the water - It wasn't just peat stained, it was so full of sediment that children wouldn't get in it to bath and it left a thick, grainy residue in the bottom of the bath. We didn't risk drinking it or using it for cooking and used bottled water instead. The downstairs shower gave hot water once and then didn't work again! That all sounds quite damning and perhaps gives the wrong impression - I feel that all these problems could easily be fixed and as I've said, the location is wonderful and I would stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. We are sorry that you didn't find the property up to standard but are glad to hear that you found the cottage well equipped & that you would stay with us again. Thank you also for bringing to our attention that the shower has stopped working properly, we have arranged to have this repaired/replaced immediately. With regard to the peaty water, Alvie Estate is on a private water supply which is filtered/UV sterilised as required & it is tested regularly by Highland Council to ensure it is up to standard. When you notified us of the water problem on departure we did fill the bath with water & we found the problem had considerably reduced. We have found on odd occasions in the past that when we have wet weather, as we had during your few days with us, following a long dry spell, the water is often a darker colour & does sometimes contain minute particles of sediment that gets through the filters although the water is still perfectly safe to use. The filters are changed regularly, however we have changed them again this week as a precaution. Whilst they do remove majority of the sediment they do not remove all the colour from the water. Even properties on mains water supply in the whole of the Kingussie area have commented that water appeared to be “dirty” the weekend of your stay. Painting & maintenance is an ongoing throughout the year in between guests; this year the property is due to have a wood pellet central heating system installed & painting where necessary. We take on board all your comments & look forward to seeing you back again in the future.

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday once again at Park Cottage where i lived as a child. We enjoyed walking round the estate, horse riding, a great day out at landmark and the cairngorms. We enjoyed the log fire in the cottage. We will be back soon.
