Great hosts with lovely welcome pack, the accommodation was spotless and cosy and the peaceful surroundings made this the perfect spot. Easy walk via footpaths and blue bell woods from rock house mews to the village and fab location for walks and the coast, highly recommend
Most important: We definately want to come back! For our litte Family (3) Trewella Lodge was the ideal place to stay for a week. It's quite and cosy, the sea is just araound the corner and for a day-trip to London we went by train. Easy. Relaxing. Feels like home!
We are a young couple and we visited the bulls box as our first weekend away together and we weren't disappointed! Val met us as we arrived and talked through where everything was, she left tea, coffee, milk etc and even some lemon drizzle!! The barn was spotless and equipped with everything you'd need! We will definitely be visiting here again! Thank you again for an amazing stay!
This year's holiday was one that I will remember for years to come as it was superb in every way you could imagine. The house had everything that one needs (even a fan) . The weather was also on our side as we had lovely weather for the 2 weeks. The owner were marvelous making our stay really pleasant.
The property was perfect! The owners wanted you to feel at home and we certainly did. The property was immaculate and everything was there that you needed, so much so we wished we could buy it! It was also in a fantastic location, walking distance from several pubs and cafes, only a 20 minute drive to the centre of Chichester and we spent a fantastic day at Arundel Castle and Gardens which we would highly recommend a visit to. We would definitely recommend this property and the area.
We picked Dairy Cottage in Burley for location and advertised info .on website. We found the cottage to be very clean and well looked after. The owners were very welcoming and happy to give any help we needed about the area.
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
We had a fantastic break. Lovely walks for the dogs. We are booking again for the summer. Enough said !!
We found the cottage very comfortable with plenty of space for 2. Every room has been furnished to a very high standard, particularly the kitchen and bathroom, they also have a beautiful garden which you are able to use. This is by far one of the best cottages we have stayed in. The location was also ideal for us as we were able to achieve everything we had planned to do. Thank you Chris & Eileen for a memorable stay.
A very well equipped and maintained property. Conveniently situated near the restaurants and shops of Rye. An idea base for a short family holiday.
From the moment we arrived at The Reading Rooms we knew that we were going to enjoy our stay. We received a very warm welcome from the owner of the property. It was spotlessly clean and had everything thing we needed for our stay. Just around the corner from the property was an excellent pub called The Three Crowns. I have never experienced a pub like it everyone was so welcoming and the food was excellent. There is plenty to look at in this area and we would like to return again.
This really is a great place to stay It is so central yet has its own dedicated parking space, a real bonus in Arundel. The accomodation is excellent and in lovely condition. We were most comfortable for our stay. It is ideal for four adults. There are no en sites but a perfectly adequate family bathroom with over- bath shower. The living room was comfy size with good TV and vdeos and books available and suitable furnishings, the kitchen diner similar and well equiped. Furnishings generally suited the cottage feel and while not new, was good for purpose and condition. Bedrooms, linens etc ...more
It was a great experience to stay at Potting shed in Fiitleworth. A lovely house with freindly hosts and a warm welcome.
Second time in this lovely cottage. Everything provided for comfort and convenience and some lovely little extra touches for a warm welcome. The location is simply perfect and we shall return again and again. The owners are lovely and the llamas an unusual little bonus. I almost don't want to recommend it in order to keep it a secret!
This was our second stay in this nice propriety nestled in the heart of Amberley , a little village which is full of charm with its thatched roof cottages. We had a great holiday in this very clean and very comfortable bungalow . The beautiful garden and the car park were fantastic bonuses . There are many interesting places for everyone in the area such as Arundel and its famous castle and antiques shops, Petworh House with Turner's paintings , Littlehampton and Brighton Pier with the amusements for the teens ... and it does not take too long to go to London, even by car !! Thank you so...more
We loved our stay in this beautiful spot. The host was very welcoming and helpful. The house had everything you could need and was comfortable and clean. Pictures don't do it justice. Would definitely use again!
My family and I found Jubilee House to be extremely comfortable, providing us with a lovely quiet home from home and a delightful garden during our stay in Chichester.
This was our second stay this year and like the first stay we were very happy!! Location is great, and as before the property is well fitted and very cozy!! We will hopefully use it again next March.
We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It's in a part of the country that we don't know well but instantly liked it and quickly got our bearings. The house is a charming, comfortable family house complete with an aga. The garden is delightful with the added treat of having a footpath through woodland right off it. This was great with dogs and children because no roads were involved for our afternoon walks and the village shop is just a bit further on. There are plenty of good, longer walks nearby too and Horsham is a lovely town worth visiting if only for a cream tea in the market squa...more
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, property very clean and good parking. Owners made sure we were welcome and previous visitors enjoyed the place as we did.
An excellent property, well maintained and convenient for the surrounding area. We hope to stay there again in the future
Everything about our accommodation was pleasing. It is set in a beautiful location and our hosts were pleasant and helpful. We hope to return.
a most perfectly presented cottage in the delightful village. everything one could wish was provided. nothing could be faulted. sorry to leave.
The cottage is perfect for a couple, with a nice upstairs bedroom and open plan kitchen and living room downstairs. Functional and clean bathroom (shower, no bath) downstairs. A great place to sit relax and eat outside in the garden too. Owners very welcoming and friendly.
We found Bay Tree cottage most comfortable with every amenity you could wish for. Comfy bed and excellent bathroom. The cottage was extremely well placed for all the places we wanted to visit, in fact we wished we had stayed longer than a week. Shona was a most welcoming and friendly host and so very interesting to talk to. Would recommend this cottage without hesitation.
Charming and excellent location cottage, just what we needed. Lucy and Dave were lovely. Would definitely like to go back again, and would recommend this to friends.
Greatly enjoyed our stay in Copyhold Barns which offers spacious, comfortable, quality accommodation. Set in a lovely peaceful location within easy reach of various local places of interest.
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
Lovely cottage, we enjoied our stay very much. Thanks for cookies and wine - fresh flowers in every room. Beautiful backyard, perfect for a family of four.
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
We as a family really enjoyed our stay at the very characterful and homely Truffle Cottage. On arrival we had a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, the cottage had some wonderful and thoughtful touches and everyone of us would love to return again. It was ideally sitauted for the city of Chichister, within easy reach to all the historical sites.
We really enjoyed our stay very much in this lovely house in this great area. Friendly and attentive hosts.
Beautifully decorated, light and bright, wonderfully clean holiday let, in a magical location. It is actually better in real life than it looks on the photos, which is unusual! You have your own private large enclosed garden, and free access to the owner's land, which includes sheep grazing pastures, woodland and lakes. The trampoline was an added unexpected bonus for our kids. The owner is extremely helpful and on hand for any help you need, but also just let's you get on with enjoying your holiday independently. Also location great for getting out by car to explore the surrounding area. ...more
Enjoyed our stay in this lovely old cottage very much. Ideally located in Rye town centre which was quite unique in itself. Only drawback was the need to park in public car parks which was a little difficult sometimes but we had expected this and it would not stop us going back which we plan to do. Thank you.
Beautiful setting, comfortable beds. Owner was v.friendly and checked everything was ok. She went out of her way to sort out a problem. Would highly recommend staying here.
Had a wonderful 3 night stay. Cosy cottage with everything you need and little thoughtful touches to add to your stay including the best travel hairdryer I've ever used! Good location for Goodwood and Arundel castle. Andrew and Lucia are the perfect hosts. Thank you very much. Would definitely book again.
From when we first arrived we knew it was going to be a great holiday. Pat was very welcoming and later on in the week Nick popped round for a friendly chat and to check everything was o.k. The cottage is beautiful with a very comfy double bed, a snug living room with a very nice wood burner which we thankfully didn't need as the weather was glorious Sitting at the breakfast table watching the birds in the garden early in the morning was a delight as well with the only other sounds being the cows and sheep in a field a few hundred yards away The main shower room was spacious as well and th...more
Mountsfield Lodge was a lovely place to spend our annual fortnight family holiday with three generations. The house was clean and comfortable and within an easy walk of the with shops and restaurants so that we didn't need to always use the cars. There really is plenty of parking (we need three spaces) which has not been our experience in other places where they say there are three spaces. It wasn't cold enough to put the heating on in the whole house, but that did cause a problem in the downstairs shower room where the towels just didn't dry. Some form of extra heating in there would have bee...more
Thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay at The Old Surgery. We were 2 of a group of 30 walking club members from Norfolk for our first trip to the Sussex area. The weather was variable but we walked an average of 10 miles a day in different areas of the South Downs. Our accommodation was in an ideal location for this purpose. The property itself is finished to a very high standard and we particularly liked the comfort of the bed. Jenny is the perfect host and we would certainly stay there again if we ever revisit the area. Two good eating pubs within 100 yards- a real bonus not having to drive at ni...more
The cottage was lovely, big enough for us and our three children. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well stocked, all the home comforts you need on a self catering holiday. It was a real home away from home, we had a brilliant time and hopefully will be back next year!
Found this little gem. Great location for country pubs, the South Downs, coast and Arundel. Lovely cottage fitted to the highest standard and very clean. Briefly met the owners who were extremely friendly. Hope to be back!
Very modern and spacious cottage with a warm welcome in an wondervul environment and only a few minutes to the coast.
Really secluded, comfortable, clean and with a magnificent view of the Downs (best view from a holiday cottage I've ever seen!) The location of the cottage is superb;Just a walk through the churchyard brings you on to the South Downs way, and Birling Gap and the Seven Sisters is but a short drive away. Local shops at Polegate are nearby too. Definitely one of the best cottages I've stayed in
Tarante had everything we want from short-break self-catering accommodation; it was clean and comfy, quiet and cosy. Perhaps more importantly it was within easy walking distance of the town centre with its great bars and restaurants, and had parking. The owner was friendly and helpful (the milk was a nice touch, so we could have a much-needed cup of tea on arrival) and every detail seemed to have been thought of in the accommodation. The garden was available to us and it was nice to have an early morning coffee in the sunshine on the decking. Highly recommended.
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
The things that would have made the Ship Inn Cottage even better were more light in the sitting room - otherwise it was excellent.
Ideal location and property to get away from everything with family and pets. Just chill out or a short drive away (or long walk) something for everyone to do. Local shops were great for food and within easy walking distance. Nobody wanted to leave!
We had a nice welcome of the hosts. On everything is thought: Filled fridge, fresh bread, cookies, drinks, shower gel and shampoo... The place has all the comfort you can think about. Good and well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable bed with view over the terrace. A lot of information about East-Sussex is available. Good place to start walks along the footpaths in fields (with friendly sheep and donkeys) and woods. A good spot to explore the county, cities with nice antique shops, and the coastal area.
Lychgate Cottage is very well equipped and is within a short walking distance of Henfield and all it's amenities. The owners were welcoming and helpful and also kindly provided a very generous welcome pack. We enjoyed our stay very much.
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
The house was very good for 6 people, unfortunately the weather was bad so could not use the pool. It is very near the shops and centre of Petworth an excellent location for an area with masses to do and see. This was our second visit we like it a lot. Owners very helpful and welcoming.
Little Lock Cottage is a perfect cottage retreat in a lovely location. It is well equipped and comfortable. We loved the garden area. We would definitely recommend.
From initial booking to end of holiday was problem free. Service was excellent and Margaret and Richard made us very welcome. The cottage was extremely comfortable, clean and in a very peaceful setting surrounded by countryside. Welcome pack of rolls, jam and coffee much appreciated. Wifi very intermittent but no problem for us. Plenty of information available regarding places of interest . Some beautiful houses and gardens to explore. Would recommend to anyone wanting peace and quiet.
We loved staying at The Mint. Superbly equipped and lots of attention to detail. The location in the centre of the town is perfect for accessing shops, pubs, cafes, walks, trains, etc., but there is a small trade-off - it can be noisy late at night as people find their way home from the pubs - more so on Fri/Sat nights. Also the deliveries, refuse collectors and street cleaners come early (6.30am), the latter every day. Having said that, it is a small sacrifice for staying in a wonderful cottage in a lovely town.
The Hayloft ways a beautiful cottage. It had everything you needed and the hosts left a very welcoming and generous food hamper for us. The cottage is well situated for walking on the South Downs Way and visiting many local attractions.
Overall this is lovely property, we loved the balcony looking out over the trees, feels almost like you are in the countryside. I thought it might be noisy being on a fairly main route of of hastings but we really didn't notice much noise, it was really very peaceful! The property is light and airy which was lovely in hot weather we had. It is generally clean and homely. The kitchen had everything we needed and nice to have some tea and coffee for when you first arrive. Great to be provided with some kitchen roll, foil, bin bags, washing up liquid etc as these are always a pain to hav...more
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
We had a most enjoyable stay at Little Barn. The setting is unique and very beautiful and the accommodation is of the highest standard. The owners are most helpful and friendly and made you feel very welcome in their property. We would not hesitate to go there again.
Beautiful spot, clean and no tidy lovely gardens was going to book for 2018 Reviva and members meetings but no dates confirmed as yet.
Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
A short break in the Dairy Byre was most enjoyable. The property has great charm, was very well thought out and fully equipped - much thought given to the needs of guests. Val was very helpful and had provided home-made cake ready for arrival. She was on hand to advise about the local area and to ensure everything in the cottage was in full working order. We could not have asked for more, had a really pleasant few days and would thoroughly recommend staying in the Dairy Byre.
A beautifully converted stables in a lovely rural location. The stables were very comfortable and so peaceful with no traffic noise. Some noise from the gliding school nearby at the weekend, which did not bother us, it was quite interesting to watch. A secure garden so we did not need to worry about our dog wandering in & out. All in all a real get away from it all, and one of the best cottages we have stayed in.
We loved our stay at Clare's Cottage. The location was perfect; 10 minutes away from the sea and the cottage itself was situated in the beautiful countryside. The children loved the animals at the farm. The cottage itself was beautiful and fully equipped with everything we could possibly need. Charlie and Anne were lovely hosts. We will definitely come back some day!
A lovely, well looked after cottage in a location within easy reach to explore many areas of Sussex. Everything you could need in the cottage, very close to shops and cafes but still nice and quiet.
Hayreed Barn is a small, very lovely stone cottage on a wonderfully located farm. Ideal for 2 - 4 guests. The area is beautiful, the farm is surrounded bei old trees and fields. The owners are super nice and friendly and help whenever you need them. Thanx a lot for the welcome breakfast - this was a very special and warm welcome. We will definitively come back, because we want to spend our next holdidays in Sussex.
A stunning characterful little cottage in the heart of Arundel, ideally located next to a great pub and opposite the Coop, perfect for our late night chocolate cravings and stocking up on more liquid refreshments. Spent many hours snuggling in front of the cosy fire, cooking in the well equipped kitchen and watching movies. Cloud nine comfy beds greeted us when we eventually needed our beauty sleep. Would highly recommend a staying here; we certainly can't wait for a return visit.
Relaxing cottage with huge garden. Ideal location for Glydnebourne! Warm welcome from the owner and a very FULL fridge!
We had an excellent stay at Priors Barn. The barn itself is situated in a lovely quiet lane. Priors Barn is very clean, comfortable and everything you could possibly need is included. A real home from home. Kip, the owner is very helpful and if you have any problems there is a landline with a number to call to get assistance. Our holiday was great value for money and we are hoping to return sometime next year for another break. I would recommend Priors Barn to anyone for a restful break.
I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Our contact was extremely helpful without being intrusive. As everything was perfect there are no complaints. Thank you.
Very comfortable stay. Everything worked well. There was always plenty of hot water and good showers. The property was in a quiet residential area with woodland walks opposite and also a 10 minute walk into New Milton. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and helpful.
A clean, spacious and comfortable cottage with a delightful garden with views over the countryside. It is also in quiet location. Convenient for the town and shops (15 minutes walk to the Co-op store and delis). We recommend the Leconfield Restaurant in Petworth for a special night out. Interesting places to visit: Petworth House and Park, Parham House, the little church in Hardham , near Pulborough and Chichester for the Cathedral and Pallant Gallery. The only slight problem in the Cottage was the DVD player which will only play German region DVDs.
My wife and I recently stayed at the Candle Cottage in Wepham nr Arundel in West Sussex. What a wonderful location. We were blessed with good weather which allowed us to enjoy sitting out on the patio. It was well placed centrally for the country and seaside resorts. There are good walks from the lodge. A couple of supermarkets within a 20 minute drive as well as the shops in Arundel some 10 minutes drive away. The lodge itself is very comfortable with all the necessities needed. A good walk from there to the local in Burpham and drives down to the beach and along the South Coast topped up our...more
We were delighted with our stay in Ockman Cottage. The cottage is right in the middle of the historic town but because it is tucked away it is really quite and peaceful. The cottage was beautifully decorated and really well equipped. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come again.
Anne is lovely and really helpful. Good countryside location for Goodwood and the fabulous Gribble Inn. I'm just really fussy about the state of showerheads and this one needed de-limescaling as some of the jets were blocked - suggest 'Gel-kilrock'.
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
Lovely cottage in Cuckfield. Pros - v well appointed, fab open plan kitchen made for great living space, good for entertaining as kitchen is well stocked, wonderful views, easy access to lovely walks, beautiful village and church, lovely spa at Ockenden Manor v close. Bedrooms and bathrooms v spacious, little farm shop next door. V easy access to Haywards Heath so can experience country living while 10 mins from Waitrose and M&S. Cons - not many. Not much outside space and no sun loungers but it's so at the heart of the countryside it's wonderfully open. Lane down to cottage is bumpy in pa...more
Very nice cottage in a lovely peaceful location with friendly owners. Lovely walks with a trip to The Harrow a must.
This is a perfect peaceful location - there is beautiful countryside all around that you can just walk out into. It is also close enough to be able to walk into and enjoy the amenities in Arundel. The A27 nearby enables you to easily travel along the coast in both directions. John and Karen were delightful hosts.
Comfortable cottage in a very quiet location. Excellent base for walking and cycling. The secure enclosed garden is a real bonus for dogs.
A very modern and uniquely styled place to stay, there's a great view both front and rear of the well kept gardens. It is situated on private road so there's very little traffic going past, both the owners are very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. A supermarket is less than 10 minutes drive away with a good pub/restaurant about 15 minutes walk along the private road, all in all we had a very enjoyable7 days stay.
Lovely location with scenic walks on your doorstep. A very quiet and peaceful setting within the grounds of the owners house. Friendly welcome by the owners. The accommodation is very comfortable and supplied with all that you need for your stay. This was our first visit to West Sussex and we were truly captured by it rural beauty and will be returning again, would be more that happy to come back to the Print Studio.
The accommodation was clean, comfortable & well equipped. The annex stood in beautifully landscaped gardens which you were at liberty to wander around. The owner,Paula & husband were always on hand if needed. The location of the property was very quiet & peaceful being off the main roads, the narrowness of the lanes though one had to drive with caution. All in all a most enjoyable holiday break having discovered some excellent walks & places to visit.
very pleasant stay again but the drive from gate in to cottage really needs repair especially difficult in the dark
Thomas House lived up to antique charm - and Rye is fabulous olde-worlde England. be aware that it is extremely popular, so throngs with tourists during peak season, and parking is both a nightmare and expensive. Thomas house was charming and very comfortable. However, there were a few things that would made our stay more comfortable - some basic customer service or inclusions that we would have made a good stay so much more pleasant. The list of inclusions did not provide information on what cooking facilities were available - there is no standard hotplate or cooker - just an auger wi...more
We had a wonderful week away at Apple Barn. Super location for Chichester and made even better by fantastic and friendly hosts.
My husband and I had a lovely stay at Cowslip. The accommodation was superb, modern and very well equipped. We were greeted on arrival which was nice and given a tour of the place and guidance on how to use the equipment etc. Set in a quiet county village and fantastic location for walking and cycling and visiting the local historic town of Lewes and all it's charm. A couple of small things that would have made a difference to our stay (and added further to our experience)? Bath 'sheets' instead of standard 'bath' towels and half a pint of milk left in the fridge on arrival (tea and co...more
Had very nice stay at this delightful old cottage. Enjoyed watching variety of birds in the garden. Delightful owner enjoyed our cream tea surprise.
The cottage was comfortable, well-equipped and clean and the host, Dora was very accommodating indeed. She was was friendly and helpful. The one slight improvement which we thought could be made would be to provide lightweight duvets for the summer months. We have already recommended Courtyard Cottage to family.
Lovely house. Plenty of space for us all. We enjoyed the very large back garden. The road at the front of the house has little traffic, so the location is very quiet though you can hear the distance hum of the A27. It was possible to walk to Emsworth along pleasant footpaths. Lots of places to visit and activities to do in the surrounding area. The nearby Coop is very well stocked.
We had a perfect stay at Little Rough ! It is situated in a quiet part of the village, in the woods. The house is perfect for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children). Bed linens and towels are provided, which is useful, especially for oversea visitors ;) We found everything we needed, kettle, micro waves, washing machine, dish washer... This peaceful little house was an excellent base to visit Portmouth, Brighton, Stonehedge and even London....and it was lovely to come back 'in Little Rouhh after busy days ! My kids loved it too. Pleasant enough accommodation. We only saw the owners twice which was ok as we found our own way around. Nothing within walking distance so you must drive everywhere. Yeah it's ok.
A wonderful welcome and attention to detail - some basics in the fridge thoughtful and really helped. Plenty of space - large sitting room upstairs and 'proper' kitchen on ground floor. Quiet, comfortable and convenient. Softer towels would be nice but that wouldn't put us off from going again.
Admittedly only 2 of us (not 4) but this was a great find and was so well appointed. Lovely property.
Stayed at Bothy Cottage for 3 days while attending a wedding to adjoining South Lodge hotel. Cottage in located a stones throw away. Cottage is spot on has everything and even more than you need to enjoy your stay
During our two-week stay in West Burton, an idyllic spot from which we explored many attractions of West Sussex (Arundel, Amberly Castle, Petworth House, the Roman Villa, etc.), we really felt at home in this cosy cottage. It's not only an ideal starting point for hiking and for a wide variety of extended day trips, but also a wonderful place to get some rest after travelling. Since we wanted to benefit from the great weather, we mostly left the cottage early in the morning and came home in the evening so that we actually only got a chance to talk to the owners for a longer time on the first...more
Excellent location and met our needs perfectly. Clean and tidy property with hosts that couldn't do enough.
The studio was tucked away in a quiet, private little spot which somehow also managed to be close to the train station and high street - making it very convenient for both relaxing exploring. It was a lovely base from which to explore Rye and the surrounding areas. It was straight forward to book, the key pick up and drop off went smoothly and Sharon, the owner, was very welcoming.
Excellent hosts and beautiful grounds, just perfect for peaceful weekend get away. Location is ideal to visit some of the attractive villages around and specifically recommend a visit to the Ginger Fox pub/restaurant.
Paines Cottage is a nice place to stay ,covenient to lots of coastal towns and not too far from london. As it was rented out for two adults and two children, a double bed for us , and two singles or bunk beds for the children would have been more suitable.
We had a lovely stay at Ivy Cottage, which was our base for days out with the children. The cottage was comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. A good time was had by all!
Really nice place to stay - plenty of options at the Marina and still a nice walk to Brighton. Accommodation can get a bit hot during the day. Only improvement might be a small table to put tea etc on in living room.
This house is in an amazing position overlooking the English Channel, along a quiet unmade track at the edge of a peaceful village. The Hastings Country Park with wild ponies and cattle is a few hundred yards away, with a great walk to Hastings. The house is spotlessly clean, very comfortable and spacious, enough room for two families to happily spend a week or two. We loved the unusual extension and huge windows everywhere, especially the sea views upstairs. The kids loved the trampoline, the tyre swing and the upstairs lounge with games and jigsaws for rainy days. A problem with one of the t...more
An excellent place to stay for our weekend at Goodwood. Conveniently located close enough to Arundel to walk in for an excellent chinese. Cottage is in excellent condition and provides enough room for 5 adults although an additional toilet and/or bathroom would have made the mornings easier! Kitchen is well equipped and offers the option for self catering. Parking outside the property was not available although we were able to find space right at the end of the road. All in all a good choice and would definitely return
This place was all we needed for our weekend cycling getaway. We were hardly ever at the cottage but it was perfect for a good nights sleep and freshening up in the morning. It's out in the sticks, but still close enough (even by bike!) for plenty of sight seeing - from historic castles to coastlines.
the house was well maintained and well planned. We all enjoyed our stay and it was very comfortable.I would make one comment and that is that the heating arrangements to cope with the evenings was not that good. Also there should be warning signs to say that extra care is needed when exiting the property by car.
First impressions, lovely spacious well appointed house. Every time we visit local beaches and local attractions,we always felt we were coming back home. Cannot fault the house or gardens and location, ideal for visiting all the seaside towns and sights. Having spent many years staying in the local area, with family members living in West Chiltington,I would highly recommend Echo House and would not hesitate to stay here again.
We have stayed at the Wellow Barn before because of the location to the back roads into the Goodwood circuit. The barn has all the essentials for self catering. The set out in the barn is great and very comfortable, plus you are able to park your car in the drive way which is gated. The owner is very near and always approachable and caring.
We enjoyed it very much. The house was impeccable and we appreciated the welcoming products. It included everything we needed and the information no offer was very useful
The house is full of charm and feels like the residents have just gone out for a stroll because it's full of art, books and music. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and baking, and the barbeque set made a welcome change from the Aga. Beautiful location and lush garden allowed plenty of space to stretch out and relex without getting in each other's space. The second bathroom could benefit from some modernising but the seasonal spiders didn't seem to mind! Must have a car to overcome its relative remoteness. In short, a lovely location that feels like a home, not an anonymous modern box.
Thank you for letting us share your beautiful home, we had a wonderful time. Very comfortable and such an interesting history. We look forward to being able to return for another holiday before too long.
Our 3rd stay at Tackleway Cottage, we love the location and the local amenities. The house is really well kitted out and suits 4 of us (children aged 5 & 7) perfectly. There is plenty of space for us all and it have everything we need. We hope to return again! The spiral stairs may make it difficult for some but they do at least free up floor space.
Enjoyed our Easter stay at Sheriff Cottage (Easter eggs on arrival were a lovely touch as was the bottle of wine and chocolate biscuits), Cottage was well equipped, warm (Easter still quite cold at times)and cozy and well placed for where we wanted to be. Garden very pretty. Wifi signal strong in all parts of the house which was good as poor mobile phone signal in this area. Room sizes a bit smaller than looks on the photo's and the driveway description 'fits up to 2 cars' (maybe correct if you have a couple of smart cars or KA's) fitted one estate sized car quite nicely. Daisy cottage was beautiful, very well decorated and equipped. We had a lovely holiday. However, we found its location, high up the hill from the centre of Arundel, a problem for Granny, who has mobility problems. We got around this and all had a good time, but I feel it worth mentioning to potential guests in the future. We also thought the space around the dining table was not great for 5, but again we managed to squeeze in. Other than that it was a lovely place and Arundel was very pretty. My daughter particularly loved doing crafts on the terrace in the sunshine and seeing the cathedral fr...more
The cottage is beautifully decorated, comfortable and in a very good location. Lovely friendly pub within walking distance serving an excellent menu and excellent food. A car is essential as the village has no shops or petrol stations in the area. Large garden nicely kept. Cosy and warm once you have mastered the heating boiler. Large lovely bathroom. Quality bedding. Unfortunately the welcome/information folder supplied by Amberley House had no information about the heating system or any of the kitchen appliances although it said they were enclosed. Although the area is flooded with good br...more
The Duchess apartment is a clean and comfortable first floor flat ideal for a couple. The kitchen is very well equipped. We had no issues and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Really loved this delightful property. Great views of the river and Arundel, could have sat on the balcony all day just soaking it up. Comfortable bed and good shower. Our little dog really enjoyed her stay. Only one problem - no wifi which was bit of an issue for us.
Unfortunately there was a communication problem and the house was not cleaned before our arrival. Fortunately the previous tenants had left it so nicely we didn't notice at first, but we didn't have any clean bedding or towels... Not nice. The house is well designed and appointed and in a nice location, but it rained solidly so we didn't have a chance to use the outside area. Beware: The pale coloured blinds in the main bedroom do not keep the sun out. We were not used to this so the light woke us up early. There is limited kitchen equipment for a house for 5. A couple of ovenproof dishes an...more
Very pleasant cottage in perfect location of Arundel. On the negative side, the provision of a single bathroom with integral wc caused logistic issues especially early when getting ready for Goodwood. Parking 1/2 mile away was also problematic, both due to getting soaked when collecting car and also security of items inside which could not be left at the circuit. The above said a pleasant stay.
Great location friendly atmosphere very welcoming touches such as milk tea and biscuits...and high standard of facilities...would love to return soon and stay for longer
The cottage was lovely but the stairs are very steep a little bit scary no coffee/table in front room we also didn't realise Arundel was so hilly!!but still a great stay
This is a charming little cottage, ideal for a couple and a dog. The owners Emma and Hugo were lovely, displaying the perfect balance of interest and concern without being intrusive. Prior to our visit Emma e-mailed details of local pubs and eateries which was very helpful. I would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting a break in the beautiful West Sussex countryside. I don't think you will be disappointed.
All good other than a distinct smell of staleness !, this was off putting and kind of undersold the property !
I picked this property for its closeness to Goodwood , and was really pleased with the cottage it out did my expertationsickness, and I would deffinately book it again , Great ,comfy stay !
Set in the Sussex countryside on a working farm. We were greeted by the hosts who are a delight. The property is fabulous to see and very comfortable to live in with everything needed for a great holiday.
We loved our stay in this beautiful spot . Clare was very friendly and helpfull. It has everything you need. It is not ideal for tall people as the ceiling is very low downstairs and we all banged our heads. The bedrooms are charming, The 1st floor bedroom has a very comfortable bed but the twin upstairs has rather thin mattresses and therefor more suitable for a family with children than two couples.
Swallowfield is a lovely cottage with all mod cons, the kitchen was very well equipped, we especially liked the separate fridge and freezer, the sitting room was very comfortable so were the beds, the cottage has everything you need. Within walking distance of shops and nice pub serving good food. Although near a road the cottage was quiet. It has a small garden sufficient to sit out and hang out washing. We have booked again for next year. The only downside is the road as the cottage exit is on a bend and it's difficult to see traffic coming from the right. If there was a mirror on the road t...more
Excellent property, everything works, comfortable and quirky. It being winter we could not really take advantage of the outside space. Would hope to return in warmer weather to take enjoy long leisurely bbq's. Would recommend for family gatherings.
Great location. Historical building provoked interesting discussion. Warm and extremely comfortable beds. Host very obliging.
Hosts Toni and David were very friendly and gave us some excellent tips. The cottage was well equipped and had all that we needed for a great break in the countryside. We enjoyed some lovely walks with our dog and visited lots of interesting places. Arundel, Midhurst and Petworth are all close by. Would recommend the White Hart at Stopham Bridge. Great staff and exceptional food. We stopped at Charlie's farm shop in Bury and bought lots of top quality meat and other local produce.
Very good high quality apartment in great mid town location. We enjoyed it. Just a suggestion, quite small, you need to supply a non slip bath mat to avoid accidents.
Perfect location near the station and several supermarkets. Lovely cottage, very clean and comfortable. Friendly owners.
We were very pleased with Little Timbers, which was everything we expected and more. We loved the unusual 'older' parts of the house with modernisation where it's needed. The kitchen, bathroom and furnishings are all clean and fresh. Great to have Wifi and the new TV was an added bonus. Lovely to have plenty of space and storage in a holiday house. The house, gardens, estate and beach all make this a unique holiday home.
Everthing is provided in this lovely large bungalow. Plenty of space to enjoy. A short walk across the road to the beach.
If you want an interesting, pretty country cottage, then the quirky, multi level Barrington Cottage is probably for you. We were a party of four adults, wanting 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, space to park two cars, wifi and a pub within easy walking distance and we were not disappointed (especially with the pub). The cottage is surprisingly large, especially the 'upstairs' lounge which opens on to the patio and garden. There was a heat wave during our stay, so we even breakfasted on the patio and sought the shady garden seat in the late afternoon. Downsides? There are no wardrobes in the sin...more
The house is charming and with plenty of space both on the ground floor with a good separation between the kitchen, the dining room and the living room, as on the first floor where the bedroom and bathroom are. Everything prepared for you to feel better than at home. In the house, there are several books in case you forgot to take a reading, and in the room, you have all kinds of guides for the area. Near the house, there are several routes for those who enjoy walking and want to forget the car for a few days. Also, the owner will give you all kinds of extra information you may need about t...more
Apartment was well equiped and comfortable. The location makes a good base to explore the island from.
Family with two grown boys and a dog, all loved the location and feel. Easy stroll to Arundel's sites, and car access to coast and S.Downs. Fantastic Castle and town.
We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The location was excellent too. A home from home and a thoroughly enjoyable stay in the beautiful countryside.
We had a fantastic time here. It's a great space to socialise with a lovely garden. It's beautifully clean and modern. I would highly recommend it. The house was full but we still had plenty of space and it was extremely comfortable. The only things I would change it's that all of the beds are singles and not easy to push together. The en suite bathroom floods if the shower is on full because the drainage from there is very poor. Other than that, it's beautiful.
We enjoyed our holidays in the old and very nice little house in the heart of Hastings Old Town just at the time of Old Town Carnival Week (we didn't know before) with a lot of opportunities to learn about Hastings history. There was a short walk to the rail-station, so we went for sightseeing also to Brighton, The Seven Sisters near Eastbourne, Rye, Canterbury. Returning home in the evening we relaxed at Old Town Bolthole. We didn't miss a car at all. Lovely place!
A lovely house shame it's down a long industrial road, could do with a full length mirror , a non stick fry pan & a flexible spatula for the fry pan , otherwise it was great for a short stay with rye down the road & the nature reserve & William the Conqueeor pub 5mins away
It's a lovely place to stay if you want peace and quiet but the road was very narrow for out big car and too far away from a village .would have loved to walk to a local put with out driving ,It's great if you want to get away from it all .
We had a very enjoyable holiday in this well equipped house. It had everything we needed. And its proximity to the beach meant even our young children could walk there.
Excellent cottage, location, comfotable But no longs were left for us We bought some and left remaining logs for next person
We booked to stay 4 nights as our daughter was getting married near by,mr moor greated us and showed us around,he was very pleasant and helpful.the cottage is beautiful we all fell in love with it and wished we could stay longer.
Started badly as the cleaners hadn't been booked and the house wasn't ready, but Amberley House were brilliant and managed to get it sorted for us - thanks for that! We hadn't realised there wasn't a microwave which was a bit of a shock but we managed without it, but would be good to include one. Toilet seat is loose so you nearly fall off when you use it - so needs sorting! Top floor smoke alarm needed a new battery so kept bleeping and setting he dogs off barking so we had to take the battery out. The bed in the front bedroom creaks all the time every time you turn on it. All...more
The location was terrific. We loved the view from the patio but missed a table to enjoy an early breakfast outside. The owners were very kind and helpful so was Jill the neighbour. Only disadvantage were the wardrobes because they were a bit smelly and not perfectly clean. All in all it was a pleasant holiday and we would like to come back.
Inside the cottage is cosy and finished to a high standard. Both bathrooms have fantastic powerful showers! I only gave comfort good not excellent as inside there was only room to seat 5 people to watch a film (a 3 seater sofa and two chairs) but it can sleep 6. Outside there was a nice patio area and large table with chairs but the property is not quite finished and it was a shame the grass area is like a ploughed field, full of ruts and the driveway isnt fully finished ( it looks like another property is being built 100yrds or so away but no building was done while we were they so it was sti...more
I absolutely loved staying at Beach Reach. Not only was it an ideal house to spend my 70th birthday with my family but I personally felt there was a spiritual calmness about the place and I honestly didn't want to leave.. I could have stayed forever.
Very quaint, but floorboards had some nail hazards, and hole in floor by fridge. Welcome pack brilliant.
Overall our stay was good. The cottage is spacious with an excellent garden and in a good location. The kitchen is nice and has a good open plan feel. However, there were a few issues and much room for improvement. The entire cottage requires a deep clean - there were a lot of cobwebs and a lot of short pet hairs on furnishings. The beds in the two downstairs bedrooms were uncomfortable and the beds in the twin room are really just foldout camp beds. The games room is great but the sofas are in terrible condition. Okay value for money - it's a good size and location but would expect it to be...more
This cottage is located in a very special location where you can enjoy walks along the river into Arundel, yet it is within a few minutes of major access routes and a train station. The cottage was small, cosy and well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Bedding and towels appeared to be brand new and of good quality. A few essential items were provided our our arrival, which was a nice touch. This would have been the perfect break except for the demolition and re-building of the neighbouring property, which unfortunately ruined our stay. Instead of being able to enjoy t...more
Our second stay - great location for the coast and inland to the South Downs. Very comfortable and well equipped.
A memorable holiday for all of the right reasons! What could be better than staying on a vineyard nestling a steam railway! The accommodation was excellent, clean and very comfortable. It seemed fully, and well, equipped however the fridge struggled to keep its contents cool. The only person we met on the farm was Don who seemed to be Mr Fixit. He was very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Fortunately we chose the hottest week of the year to visit Sussex and this meant evenings were spent on the patio with BBQ food followed by a short stroll to the lakes to watch the leaping fish and other wild...more
A very comfortable, clean cottage in an idyllic setting with a lovely private garden. The cottage's position is incredibly convenient for exploring many of the famous Sussex gardens and historical sites and at the end of the drive were footpaths through farmlands, woods and the local golf course. The family were welcoming and could not be more helpful - the (almost) local pub was excellent, serving good range of well cooked and priced food. Lyn, Bexley
A super little cottage with everything you could wish for. The addition of a personal car parking space allows you to come and go as you please with no timing concerns. The kitchen and sitting room are generous spaces and allowed us to have guests for dinner quite comfortably. Would we book again - absolutely!
The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The bedrooms are spacious, the upstairs bedroom being particularly attractive. Negatives? The upstairs shower was occasionally hit and miss, sometimes running hot then cold. We were not so keen on the downstairs toilet being entered from the lounge and the dining room door has to be closed in order to open the fridge. The courtyard is good for al fresco dining but would not be suitable for anyone wanting to stretch out for sunbathing. These are all small points however, and did not detract from a very nice stay.
Had a lovely weekend stay at this beautiful cottage close to the town. Very well equipped and newly renovated
Stayed for 5 nights in May 2017 - good stay overall and owners were flexible about adding an extra night after our initial booking which was excellent. Comfy double beds, relaxing living area and good showers. Small but well equipped kitchen but was just big enough to cater for the four adults and baby in our group. A few things worth noting for future guests: 1/ There is no freezer in the cottage. Probably OK for most but worth mentioning as we had expected there to be one available. 2/ The cottage is inside the grounds at Deerleap, so you will be sharing the gate with the driveway of...more
Nice character cottage. Good parking. Nice kitchen. Comfortable beds. Step hazard at foot of stairs needs better highlighting. Hot water far too hot. Whoever cleans the property really should move the lounge furniture when hoovering ... there was rubbish and grit under the settee. Low beams in places were difficult for our 6-foot member of party.
The cottage is situated right next door to a children's adventure farm on a quiet lane, so in terms of location, it was just what we were seeking. The cottage had all mod cons and was aesthetically pleasing. However, we were dissatisfied with the comfort of the beds and also the place clearly had not been thoroughly cleaned in a while, as there were pet hairs and clumps of dust around the place and bits of rubbish under the beds. The property also would benefit from a decorative touch up. That said, the owners were very welcoming and helpful. We would recommend to others if the above...more
The Well House takes a bit of finding, but when we did all our hopes and expectations were realised. If you've chosen to stay here you presumably want peace, quiet, remote and countryside. It's all here in abundance. Then we found the key went in and fell in love with it. There is a Lovely cozy lounge area, dining area looking out over the field, nicely fitted kitchen and bathroom and the bed in the ceiling, which, was so comfortable. Plus some lovely quirky pieces and ornaments dotted around. We had a wonderful relaxing week in The Well House.
Really down-to-earth, genuinely dog-friendly owners, and a lovely little characteristic cottage. Beautiful grounds, immediate access to South Downs along picturesque country lanes and the cottage had everything we needed. The condition of the cottage for us was excellent but I've put good because it's a down-to-earth, characteristic wee place that caters for wet, muddy walkers and pets so I don't want to put 'excellent' and have people thinking it's the Hilton because it's not. We'd have hated it if it were that. It's for people who come and go. You don't feel as if you're going to get fined i...more
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
The perfect antidote to our hectic and chaotic work lives. The property was ideally set and provided all we needed for a truly relaxing break away from it all. So many walks and footpaths to choose from in the immediate area and even direct from the front door. Really enjoyed the wildlife- saw deer and buzzards up close on a daily basis. Waking up to sunshine streaming through the bedroom window and the sound of birdsong was perfect.
This cottage far exceeded our expectations in terms of views from the lounge and kitchen windows. Every day there was a different breathtaking view as the tide came and went and the sun set. The house itself is very comfortable and easy to live in, but it was a good job we were on holiday as I spent too much time just staring out the window watching birds, boats, sea and sky!
Very Nice and cozy little cottage. We had lovely Weather so used the patio a lot. The only drawback was the noise from a busy Road close by.
With someone living below, we found it almost impossible to walk across the hard wood floor quietly. A carpet or large rug in the bedroom would have been very helpful. In the kitchen some basic items we have normally found in other properties were not available. A washing up bowl, hand-wash, small sharp knife for preparing dishes (the very large sharp kitchen knives were too clumsy) and a microwave. We were not sure whether the one towel in the kitchen was intended for drying dishes or drying hands..
The property was very clean and comfortable and in a good location. Parking was an issue though. The house is situated on a side road on a hill. Some of the neighbours put traffic cones outside their properties to stop others parking. Luckily, I have a small car and managed to squeeze into a space in the first day. There is "four hour" free parking opposite the property on the main road but it was impossible to find spaces. There is a car park at the bottom of the hill which charges £9.50 per day. I had my elderly mother with me and being able to park close to the property was importan...more
