Alice Howe is a large 4 star large holiday cottage, with its own hot tub in The Lake District. The property sleeps 14. Alice Howe features 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms a large dining room with huge oak table, Lounge with sumptuous leather Chesterfield sofas and a fantastic social kitchen with wood-burning stove. The Terrace is located in the heart of Windermere close to all the cafes, restaurants and boutique shops. Alice Howe is the perfect base for a family celebration, milestone birthday, girlie weekend or family holiday. A perfect choice for your big cottage for weekend rent.

We welcome up to 4 dogs at the property. There is an additional charge per dog, which can be added at check-out.

We had a fantastic family weekend at Alice Howe celebrating my mums birthday. The house is in an idea position, within walking distance to Windermere. Great lounge and dining area to socialise together. Excellent communication with the hosts. Will definitely recommend to friends.

Beautiful residence caters for all, basics supplied on arrival tea, coffee etc. Daily checks on the hot tub . In the heart of the village so close to everything.
Extremely happy with our stay to celebrate with family and friends for a milestone birthday .

What a fabulous house and great location! Alice Howe had everything we needed and was spotless. The hot tub and cinema room were excellent additions and there was plenty of seating in the living room, dining room and kitchen for the 12 of us. Great communication from the owner and plenty of information provided prior to our stay. We didn’t want to leave! Thank you.

2024 was our 5th year at The Terrace. This beautiful home is our base for 3 generations and 4 branches of the same family to come together and make happy memories. Our littlest member was only 2 weeks old the first time she came and is now happily pottering up and down to join her siblings and cousin in the cinema! The hot tub is really relaxing for late night chats after the kids go to bed. We have had many birthday celebrations here and love that we’re close enough for a bus trip to Keswick or Kendal, to pop to Lakeland, a longer stroll to Bowness for dinner or to head out for an energetic cycle round the Lake District. The house has everything we need and the owners are incredibly helpful if we need to get in touch. ‘House with the yellow door’, see you again next year!

We have stayed at The Terrace 4 times now in the last 10 years and every time we are delighted with the quality and fitness for purpose of the various houses. This time at Alice Howe was no exception. Highly recommended.

The location and the possibilities you have from there are sensentional!
It doesn`t matter whether you want to go hiking, shopping, sailing or visit other wonderful places.

I was looking for a cottage to rent for my Daughters Hen party in Windermere with easy access to motorways and Railway and what a perfect location this was.
Communication prior to arrival was excellent advising on checkin details and safety info.
The cottage is absolutely beautiful stunning location, spotlessly clean and tidy.
Love the furnishings and the character of this cottage , two large kitchens with everything we needed for the stay and our private chef to cook for 13 of us , which a lot of places do not cater for this.
Every bedroom was spacious and we loved the 2 bedrooms with the four poster beds.
There is a lovely seating area outside and hot tub which is undercover, again catering for the weather and lovely seating area at the front of the house.
Plenty of parking again ideal for larger groups
Loved every minute of this few days break and can 100% recommend Alice Howe Cottage..

Great cottage in an ideal location. It's spacious and has all the facilities and amenities, including WiFi, TVs, and a cinema theatre. The hot tub is included in the price. All the facilities mentioned in the booking description were available. More importantly, a lady from customer service called a few hours before check-in to ensure our comfort. Will definitely book again.
It would have been better if there hadn't
been a smell in the kitchen when we first
opened it. After opening the window for a
few hours, the smell went away.

We were a group of 14 40somethings from all over the country gathered to celebrate my 50th.
We found Alice Howe the perfect venue in a great location handy for the station, supermarket, restaurants and shops.

We particularly enjoyed being able to have breakfast outside in the back yard, sipping champagne in the hot tub and the front room made an ideal venue for our quiz and party!

The only minor criticisms I would make are that the massive chesterfield sofas are very uncomfortable and some people moved to the floor! Also it got very hot in some of the bedrooms, perhaps fans could be considered?
Otherwise everyone ageeed that the house was a brilliant find and ideal for our needs.

We had a fabulous stay at Alice Howe for a 60th birthday celebration. The house is absolutely lovely and has everything you need for a perfect stay. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and cinema room and also used one of the suggested outside caterers (Lucy’s) for a special birthday meal which was excellent. The location is perfect for exploring or just chilling with nice bars and cafes in walking distance including a nice fish and chip shop, The hosts are really helpful, when we rang them with a question after arrival they responded straight away. The house was recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint, we would definitely highly recommend staying at Alice Howe.

The property is a superb choice for a large group, with ample space and facilities. The condition of the property and the furniture, equipment, cooking and crockery etc. is all excellent with everything needed to cater for a large group.
All members of our group loved the stay at the property, and location wise it is perfect with excellent parking arrangements.
The only thing I would recommend is to ensure you take washing-up items i.e. washing-up liquid, a dishcloth, pan scrubber etc. as these are not provided and a trip to the supermarket will be required to ensure you are able to keep all of the crockery etc. clean.

We had a great stay in a great location.The lake is a 35 minute walk downhill but you can catch the bus from the station just below the house.

Fabulous house perfect for a group of women to get together for a few days of winter walking cooking and laughing. We used the hot tub which was lovely. The house was perfect for us. All the equipment we needed was there. Help came when we inadvertently turned off the wifi! We will be back

We were delighted to be welcomed into Alice Howe, a spacious and beautifully presented house. We stayed for two nights and had a great time enjoying the hot tub, cinema room and wonderful kitchen space. Every guest slept well and the en-suites were very clean. Getting 7 ladies together for a long weekend isn’t easy but even more so when you ideally want your own room and bathroom. Alice Howe fitted the bill perfectly.
It’s such a pretty house with lots of space to cook, eat and relax together. My bed was really comfortable and I slept like a log.
The location is really convenient with so much on your doorstep within walking distance. We had freak weather and Booths rescued us a couple of times with food and logs
Big thanks to our hosts, Andy, Barbara and their team for helping to clear the drive (snow) and for being so caring. You went over and above with the customer service and it was so appreciated.
Can’t wait to come back!

My family have been to the Terrace at Windermere for an annual get together for some years.
The accommodation is 1st class, very well maintained and a short distance away from the bus and train station
All of the terrace houses have a cinema and hot tub with a wide range of pubs and restaurants a short walk away

Beautiful house close to all amenities, shops, pubs, tourist information and the station.
We were a family of 13 of all ages and Alice Howe was perfect for us. The cinema room and the hot tub were particularly enjoyed by the grandchildren. The walk to Orest Head immediately opposite the house, is a must with great views of Lake Windermere.

We had a wonderful time at 3 Alice Howe. The house is very spacious, plenty of space for a family of 12. Cooking facilities and kitchenware were brilliant even though we had some takeaways. Family enjoyed the hot tub it was clean when we arrived. Bedding was nice, clean and comfortable. Amenities were nearby, good public transport too. A 30 minute walk to Bowness-on-Windermere where you can catch a cruise liner and visit other places nearby. Luckily it was warm as some of the windows do not shut. We did use the central heating as some of our family members were elders. Great cinema room but felt musty which made asthma sufferers uncomfortable. Overall all good.!!!

I'm little confused by the windows 'not shutting', admittedly they are old (The Terrace is listed so we can't change them), to counter that we do have both black out blinds and heavy curtains. the accomodation was first class. As we have used it before we expected nothing less and was proved right and more.
We found that the cottage was well equipped and provided ample facilities for a party of ten.
