Set in Scotland in the Fife countryside, just 10 miles from St Andrews and 5 miles from Dundee, Sandford Country Cottages are luxury self-catering cottages & apartments which are part of Sandford House, a 'B' Listed Arts and Crafts House built in 1902.
A family business, the properties have been restored by us with Arts and Crafts features such as oak beams and posts. One, two and three bedroom properties are available and all bedrooms are en-suite, with either a bath or a walk-in shower, and all are fitted with Trevi rainwater showers.
In the living areas you'll find spacious open plan spaces, comfy seating and a dining table and chairs. There is also a flat screen TV and an iPod dock or Sonos sound system. The kitchens are very well-equipped, and are fully fitted with modern appliances.
All properties have central heating and a wood burning stove (except Red Squirrel). Electricity, heating and one basket of logs is included in the rental cost, additional logs can be purchased from the office. Superfast WiFi is free.
We stayed here to celebrate a special birthday and it didn't disappoint. Evelyn and Ralph were very welcoming and the complimentary basket of food was a lovely touch. The standard of the equipment in the apartment is very high and comprehensive and the level of cleanliness cannot be beaten. The surroundings are beautiful and very quiet, which is what we wanted. However, it is very central for exploring Fife and nearby Dundee and its environs. A little gem.
We have now stayed at all of the apartments at Sandford apart from the new one - The Coach House - but we are working on that, Covid permitting! All are well equipped and comfortable. Evelyn and Ralph are very welcoming and go to great lengths to make the apartments Covid secure. We felt very safe staying at Sandford. Valentine's was especially good for watching the red squirrels in the grounds over breakfast and the outdoor table at the front was, at least on a dry day in October, fairly sheltered for a socially distanced al fresco Sunday lunch. The wood burning stove was very welcome in the ...more
We ended up staying a full three months and cannot imagine a better, quieter, more comfortable place to have called home while we were searching for a permanent home. Recommended highly if you want to stay in Fife to enjoy almost any activity.
I took my wife away for a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary and birthday which are a day apart. I can honestly say this is the best self catering cottage I have stayed in in all my 56 years. The facilities were outstanding and in immaculate condition. Very spacious, clean and pristine with great attention to detail by our hosts, who made us very welcome. Sandford House is of historical significance and it was great to watch on YouTube how the building was painstakingly restored by our hosts who are the current owners. We will definitely be back; hopefully next time with our fam...more
We enjoyed our first family short break in Fife recently staying in the fabulous appartment called the Giddy Limit in the Sandford Country Cottages. Pristine clean and immensely comfortable, perfect for our family of 5.
In a beautiful location which was easy to travel to and find with lots to see and do roundabout. We'll definitely go back!
