The kitchen is the heart of the house and geared up for numbers and catering. Here entertaining is fun. The tables both inside and outside can easily accommodate 18 and 24 by arrangement. Local caterers work in the house regularly.
The private and secluded garden and grounds are about 2 acres. There is plenty of space to play house badminton or other activities plus there is a huge playing field with two football goals. Great spot of friendly cricket, rounders and football matches. In the outbuildings there is games room with pool table and table football (no heating) and a rustic table tennis room.
The property is situated on the Wye Valley walk and close to circular walks. There are good cycles routes nearby. There is a good eating pub and also cafe within a beautiful hours walk and a fantastic farmshop 1.8 miles from the house which is more than convenient!
Our typical guest is Granny and Grandpa with their children, grandchildren and sometimes great grandchildren. We also see reunions, milestone birthday and anniversaries plus walkers, cyclists, canoeists, gardeners and those who enjoy an active holiday. Book very early indeed for Hay Festival and prime holiday dates.
We wanted something special where the family could get together and celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. Monnington House was just perfect. We were blessed with amazing weather which allowed us all to make the best use of the wonderful outdoor facilities where the family played Football, Rounders and Cricket as well as just chilling in the sun. The House itself exudes luxury with several cosy living rooms and wonderful kitchen facilities. A fabulous dining table allowed us to enjoy our meals and celebrate together. The outside caterers recommended by the House were superb and Debby and t...more
We stayed at Monnington House as part of our Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations. We could not have chosen a better home for a week.

The generously sized bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, were beautifully decorated and furnished. Equally the 3 very comfortable reception "siting rooms" allowed us to spread out but still be with others in the party wether we wanted to join in board games or sit and read ...more
Booked two years ago for an important event. The owner was very collaborative and easy to communicate with. The property was great, and it’s evident the owners have a lot of experience with hospitality. Large property with bathrooms for every room - which was hard to find. Highly recommended and would love to stay again.
We are a couple with a dog who stayed in the Cider Mill, and can't recommend it enough. Anna was a fantastic host and super helpful providing lots of information and knowledge on the surrounding area. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous set within plenty of grounds and a nice garden.
We went for regular walks with the dog, the Monnington Mile is around the corner and if you keep going, you end up fully in the countryside walking along by the side of Woods.
It was the perfect base for us to explore the surrounding area.
Anna left a nice package of goodies, which was very welcome after ...more
