The Silvermills apartment is located in a small exclusive modern landscaped development ideally situated between the Georgian splendour of New Town, and the ‘village’ of Stockbridge, noted for its restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques and shops.

Only 15 minutes walk from Princes Street and the centre of Edinburgh it is an ideal location for a holiday or business trip to Edinburgh.

We’ve now enjoyed a week in this flat at around the same time of year on four occasions (or is it five? I can’t remember). The flat has everything we need for a family of four. It’s very handy for the shops in Stockbridge and the getting into the centre of Edinburgh is only around a 20 minute walk (or alternatively there’s a bus stop in Stockbridge). We have family in the area and this flat is just right as a base when we’re visiting. We don’t bother looking for an alternative. We’re perfectly satisfied with Silvermills — it’s perfect for us.

It is a very well-equipped apartment at a very good and quiet location. The Old Town is just a stone-throw away, anyone can easily walk there if they do not want to take the bus.
The hostess is really helpful and if anyone has any questions or issues she promptly addresses them.
There is a welcome pack when you arrive and you can immediately have a nice cup of tea and some shortbread after a long journey. The additional bunch of flowers on the chest of drawers made us feel real welcome.
I can highly recommend this place for staying.

The apartment is in a great location and the welcome pack was exactly that - everyone needs a cuppa after a long drive! Having a garage for the car was a bonus too. We had a lovely few days in Edinburgh and would definitely stay at Silvermills on a return visit.

Very quiet secure apartment in a safe area just a stone's throw from Princes street. Good bus services to centre and convenience stores nearby.
The apartment is dated but that actually adds to it's charm as it can almost be classified as retro.
Very well equipped...we had everything we needed.
The real let down was the pillows - I don't think they've been renewed since 1970 & the bed springs in one of the single beds were poking through. The double bed was fine...except for the pillows.

The holiday flat is perfectly located for exploring Edinburgh and the surrounding area. The flat is spacious, well equipped and has enough space for 5 people. The contact with the landlord worked well. Unfortunately the flat needs a deep clean. We would not rent the flat again despite the perfect location and the facilities because of the cleanliness.

It would have been helpful if the guest could have given more specific information and examples, The review from the preceeding guest (on another website) gave 5/5 for cleanliness and the comment spotless. The following guest (a returning guest) had a lovely time in the apartment and immediately booked again for next year. Nevertheless, I have passed this review onto our cleaners and asked for a thorough clean.

We stayed in Sivermills for our son's wedding and found the location excellent for meeting up with friends and relatives both before and after the wedding. It was ideal for getting to all the bars, restaurants and shops that Edinburgh has to offer as well as all the visitor attractions including the Christmas market.
The flat was clean, spacious and all the facilities we needed.
We came by car which we needed to help with all the wedding preparation, but I would caution other visitors to arrive by other means as parking was a problem. Spaces were rarely available, the garage is too small and you're not allowed to park in front of it.

I am pleased that this guest found Silvermills an excellent location for his son's wedding. I am however a little confused about the comments about the garage. Yes the garage is on the small size, but it will take a family car, though not a large 4x4. We use the apartment ourselves, we have a large car and my daughter a Citroen 7 seater both of which we can get in the garage. I do have a photo of this guests car infront of the garage and it would definitely have fitted in. I'm sorry he found it a problem.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend in Edinburgh, which we were visiting for a family reunion.
The apartment was perfect - very clean, a welcoming pint of milk and orange juice, and it was in a great location in Stockbridge but easily walkable to the city.

Comfortable 3bedroomed apartment, very central, with parking. 15min walk to Edin Playhouse.
One gripe... Owner was a bit sharp on the phone when we phoned regarding the keys! Main front door was a bit fiddly with key but did not disturb our stay.

Our family of 5 adults and teens stayed at the Silvermills apartment for a 3 day visit to Edinburgh. The location is wonderful. Quiet in the immediate vicinity but tons of pubs, cafes, restaurants and grocery stores within a few minutes walk. Only 12 minutes to the Royal Mile and all it has to offer. However, our favorite walk took us 20 minutes via the Water of Leith Walk to Dean Village. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen well outfitted. We would gladly stay here again if we return to Edinburgh.

Didn't get off to the best start. Future guests please note: ignore the key code you are sent beforehand as the keys are left on a hook beside the case. Also note that you have to put the key to the front door all the way in, then bring it out a tiny bit before it will turn - forewarned is forearmed!

Once inside, it was really nice - very warm and cosy, yet spacious. It had been decorated prettily for Christmas and the owners had left us some mince pies, shortbread, juice and milk, which we greatly appreciated. It was very well equipped, especially the kitchen and the beds were warm and comfortable. The area was very quiet, and it is walkable to the centre of Edinburgh.

The cleaning could have been more fastidious, in particular around the edges of the rooms, where dust had collected and around the bottom of the bath screen and shower cubicle. It would have been nice if we had been left some shower gel in the ensuite to save us from having to go and buy some, but all in all it was a very nice place to stay.

We had a lovely stay for a family of 4. Plenty of space and all that we needed for our stay. About 20 min walk (up hill) to the new town or a bus straight to the royal mile at the end of the road. Stockbridge high street just at end of the road. Parking space guaranteed in garage or in cimmunal spaces (of note when we went no communal spaces available and our family sized car only just fit into garage...).
Excellent base for the city if you want a bit of extra space / flexibility with a family and would recommend and would stay again.

This apartment was far beyond my expectations with great facilities and furnishing as well as central city parking. Check in was safe and easy and the apartment was beautifully clean and ventilated.

I was very impressed with how everything we needed was in the apartment including cleaning which other apartments I've stayed at don't often provide. The bedding and towels were clean and well kept, the beds comfortable and there was plenty of space. Despite being so close to the city centre the area is quiet which was also a big plus point.

Princes Street and Edinburgh Castle are also within walking distance and there are good public transport links.

While this was not a problem for my party be aware there is no lift so this may cause accessibility problems as the apartment is on the 2nd floor.

The garage is also only large enough for medium sized cars- we took a mazda 3 which was a tight fit, larger cars will not fit so be mindful of this as well.

We had a fantastic time in Edinburgh and I will definitely want to book this apartment again!

A lot of steps to climb into apartment so not good for someone elderly or problems walking. Cleanliness could be better, leather sofa was quite dirty and needed cleaning. plants in apartment weren't really looked after and spoilt the look the owner was going for. Mattress in main bedroom was stained as was the duvet. The apartment was very roomy and was good as it had two bathrooms which was ideal when there was a couple of families sharing the space. The extras were a nice touch, i.e. tea bags, coffee, milk and juice. The parking was very good meaning if a group were going and all had separate cars, there was room for more than one car. The surrounding area was quite hilly, again this is a problem if you are elderly or have difficulty walking. overall we enjoyed the stay.

The flat is in an ideal and surprisingly quiet location. Park the car in the garage and walk or use the bus to explore Edinburgh.
Flat provides everything you need and more. A homely feel and so much better than a hotel.
Only point I would make is I feel a new mattress is required in the en suite room.

We had a really excellent city break at Silvermills. Our visit was delayed by a year because of the pandemic but we are so glad we came.

The apartment is very comfortable, clean and spacious, has some great touches and is perfectly located in Stockbridge. There were five adults in our party and we didn’t get under each other’s feet at all. The use of the locked garage is also very reassuring.

There are some lovely leafy walks along the Water of Leith and Warrington Path nearby but also lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops.

It is a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre but there are also reasonably-priced buses that pass close to the apartment.

Our 5-night stay was not long enough and we hope to return to Edinburgh sometime soon. When we do we will look to stay in this reasonably priced if at all possible.

This flat is well situated. It has a garage, immensely useful in this part of Edinburgh where on-street parking is limited. We found the flat clean and generally well prepared. It’s comfortably furnished with a good kitchen. Two bathrooms (one is an en suite). We have a week in Edinburgh most years. This is now our first choice when we travel as a family of four.

We have been coming to Silvermills for many years and hope to return for many more. Excellent apartment in a very nice area, with Princes Street a short walk away, and with Stockbridge on the doorstep. The apartment is always spotlessly clean and comfortable, and additional precautions had been made due to the current Covid situation, which was very reassuring.

We had booked for August with the Festival in mind. Obviously this was cancelled due to Covid, but it was an opportunity to appreciate Edinburgh without the crowds. Silvermills is ideally placed for anyone wanting to explore everything that Edinburgh has to offer.

The owners have always been very pleasant and helpful. We're looking forward to coming back.

We had a lovely stay at this property, unfortunately, at the coldest time of the year, the boiler failed and the first night was extremely cold. Margaret couldn't have done more to help us as it was after 8pm when we found no heating at property. Told us where to find extra blankets etc. In the morning she phoned and arranged to come through to let heating engineer in to repair boiler. We enjoyed the Castle of light on the Friday evening, Christmas market on Saturday morning then the magical light display at the botanical gardens. Think this was possibly the best equipped property I have stayed in in over 50 years and would love to come back. The best thing about this flat is it's location an easy walk from the city centre and close to the amenities of Stockbridge. The flat itself is comfortable and well equipped, althogh a little dated.

We enjoyed our stay here, although it’s almost like a maze trying to find the place. My one criticism is although the apartment has a secure parking garage our rental car would not fit in it and because of it’s location you could not even just park in front of it because it would have blocked the entrance to the rooms....we were forced to try and find parking in the area which was almost non-existent.. otherwise everything was as expected....

I'm sorry this guest had difficulty finding the apartment and then a place to park the car. We do send all guests a map showing the location of the apartment and how to find it. The guest had trouble parking in the garage, but there are parking bays within the develoment and the guests are provided with a key for the padlock to the bay. All this information is given in the Information folder in the apartment. We would always encourage guests to phone us with any problems they may encouinter and we will always do our best to sort things out for them.

Stayed at Silvermills recently for two nights. I really liked the location, being very easy to walk to Princes Street etc. The apartment was spacious but I thought it was a bit tired and old fashioned and could do with upgrading. One example being the rugs in the ensuite bedroom being really frayed at the corners and in my opinion unnecessary when the floor was carpeted. I noticed the shelf under the computer desk was very dusty and also the skirting board around the bookcase in the hall. Despite the wondows being open there seemed to be a sweaty smell in the living room. The apartment had plenty crockery, cooking utensils, towels etc and even had a selection of board games and books. The building was very quiet and we weren't bothered with any noise at all. The private garage is a bonus as well, as parking is Edinburgh is a nightmare. It did say in the information book that you get a welcome pack consisting of milk, juice and shortbread but we only had milk left for us.

It would be difficult to beat this apartment. It was exceptionally well equipped. Access instructions were clear with useful information provided in the apartment. The sleeping accommodation was extremely comfortable and the apartment was spotless. The welcome pack was appreciated. Superbly located for the Botanic Gardens and a half hour walk to the centre.

This was our third time to stay at one of the Silver mills apartments. We have always liked to stay there.
The location is not too far from the city. The area is very quiet. There are shops, hairdressers and supermarkets nearby.
The apartment itself is large enough for four (maybe more people). The furnishing is comfortable. The place is always very clean when we get there. Also great are the folders with lots of information on and around Edinburgh (where to eat out, what sightseeing can be done etc.).
I know we want to stay at the apartment next year again.

This is a very attractive flat. The level of accommodation is very good indeed. It is very well situated for the popular Stockbridge area. The city centre is a short bus ride away or, even better, a 20 minute walk. Walking in another direction takes you to the beautiful Royal Botanic Garden. A real bonus for this flat is that it has a garage. Parking in Edinburgh can be difficult or expensive.

Our stay was very comfortable. This flat has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a short or long stay. Instructions to all the amenities and the recycling policy were very clear. Beds were comfy, towels provided and there was even welcoming shortbread. The flat is fully equipped with wifi, tv, washing machine, oven etc. So grateful to have found a place with a lockable garage rather than on-street parking. Our only problem was the ensuite bathroom light that was not working, so my mom had to wait for sunrise before she could shower. She also battled with the stairs but that is not the flat's fault. I was very impressed and will definitely stay again if I am ever so lucky to be in Edinburgh again.

The one negative... Our stay was much too short!
The appartement has everything you need and much more! With complementary biscuits, tea and coffee as well as milk we were able to have a quick breather before heading downtown. We can recommended this appartement within walk-in distance to restaurants and local shops as well as downtown Edinburgh (about 10-15 minutes slghtly uphill) we fully enjoyed our all to short stay! The location is very nice and quiet, fully equipped, quality high standard in all rooms,complete kitchen, very good mattresses and curtains that keep all daylight out, kitchen table as well dining table, feeling at home.
More than enough room for all of us (family with two teenagers), large bedrooms and nice bathrooms.
Stockbridge is a very nice part of the city, I almost liked it more than the city centre :)
Due to a lash in my leg, the walk into the city took much effort. Glad that the bus is only a few minutes walk from the apartment.

This is a great, strategically located apartment in the village of Stockbridge which is a walking distance to central Edinburgh. We found the apartment tidy, well accessorised,with clean linen, supplies in the fridge and good tourist and local information booklets. Simply put, its home from home!
We had the use of a garage as part of the package and we found it convenient to park our car and tour Edinburgh using public transport.
The landlady,Margaret,was very helpful and approachable in providing details about the place.
It was a great, relaxing,short holiday experience for us. We will come again.

Having stayed at Silvermills previously, we knew the challenge that Dundas Street provides. We came away significantly fitter having walked to all the Fringe venues that we had shows booked for.

Silvermills Apartments is a very good place to stay at in Edinburgh.
We were four adults. Had plenty of room for two couples. The rooms were nicely furnished, very clean. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed even for cooking.
The location is ideal. Very quiet. We did not even hear the neighbours.
Downtown is not far to get to. We always walked to Princess street. Since we were hiking in the Highlands before that was no problem to us. But there is also a Bus running nearby the Apartments going downtown. There are shopping facilities in the area and my sister-in-law even found a hairdresser around the corner.

We had rented an apartment at Silvermills before. A few years ago. And we know we will be back as we like Scotland in general.
We are Germans.and we will definitely try to rent at Silvermills again.

This property provides a comfortable location within 10 mins walk of Princes Street and Waverley Station, but in an area which is clean and quiet meaning you get an excellent night's sleep.
Everything you need is provided and the flat is generous in the size of the main living room and two of the three bedrooms, with the third bedroom and kitchen being adequate and what you would expect for a flat of this type and age.
I can't overstate the convenience of the location. There is both a Tesco express and a Sainsbury's local 5 mins from the door, and Stockbridge itself has many interesting independent shops to explore. The area includes parks and beautiful architecture for evening walks when it is hard to imagine the hustle of the city centre is so close by.
While this flat obviously has a high occupancy, it is perfect to relax in without worrying about preserving high end finishes and pristine surroundings - a real home from home and we loved it!

We spent a week at Silvermills and found it to be a great location for getting about on foot. It was an easy walk to Stockbridge shops and cafes. The Stockbridge sunday market was great to look round and see a variety of street food on offer.

The apartment is spacious and really well equipped, as well as being on the doorstep of Stockbridge where we wanted to be. We felt right at home the minute we opened the door. Flat was lovely, homely, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, well-equipped kitchen and big lounge. Flat was clean and large enough that our group of 5 never felt cramped. Location was great, just north of the city centre in a quiet neigbourhood with local conveniences nearby (supermarket, cafés, lunchrooms): ideal to grab some rest during your busy itinerary in Edinburgh. Would recommend!

This was our fourth visit to the Silvermills flat in Stockbridge which is on the periphery of Edinburgh city centre. The flat is very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The area is well served by shops,restaurants and pubs of excellent standard and has good public transport links. An added bonus is the flat's own garage. We shall definitely be back next year.

This property was rather hard to find, both as a pedestrian and driving a car. Nevertheless, it was fully equipped and comfortable. It was lovely to find milk, oj and shortbread biscuits for a reviving cuppa. The notes I received stated that the owner would ring to make sure all was ok. This didn't happen, but there were no issues.

It is for use an excellent location to stay with a family.
With 3 bedrooms and a spacious living room it is a ideal place to stay with 5 people.
The city center attractions are not far away, small supermarkets and pubs are close by.
The location is in a dead end road, therefor you hear not any traffic noise.

The spacious apartment perfectly fit the needs of 4 adults and 2 late teens, providing kitchen, washing machine, large living room. The gps directions baffled us briefly, garage parking was nice, very safe neighborhood. Convenient walking to old and new town, although both were uphill.

Well situated in quiet news & well appointed. 10 minutes walk away from main tourist areas & Beanhunter coffee with lots of local speciality shop, bars & cafés nearby. Secure garage parking an added bonus although we didn't need to use our car during our stay.
Our only criticism, and it is a small one, would be that some furnishings give the impression tiredness.

The photographs of this apartment really don't do it justice. It was like a home from home a very spacious modern apartment only a 15/20 minute walk from Princes Street. We asked the owners of the property several questions before our arrival and they always replied promptly.
Next time we are in Edinburgh we will definitely look to see if this property is available a very pleasant stay was had by all !!! A very clean and tidy property and excellent value for money.

We arrived rather tired after travelling so it was a joy to walk into such a lovely appartment. We immediately felt at home as it was so comfortable and nicely decorated. There were some lovely little touches such as the welcome packs of tea/coffee, milk and juice. The kitchen had everything we needed including useful extras such as dishwasher tablets and kitchen roll. The location was excellent with all the city centre attractions close enough to walk to and there was useful information regarding nearby bus routes left in the appartment. We really loved our stay here and it will be our first choice next time we visit Edinburgh

The flat had everything you could possibly need and was home from home. There were five of us, one couple, two males and a single female so it worked out cheaper than booking into a hotel. Having two bathrooms made things easier. We didn't need to use the heating as we found the flat lovely and warm. We visited in October.

This was our base for discovering Edinburgh and for going to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games. The location was within a 15 minute walk of Princes Street and 20 minutes from the Waverley Station. We were meeting with friends and family for a weekend in Edinburgh, the apartment was warm and comfortable and the ideal location for us, s brisk walk took us into the city, and lots of places to eat a good breakfast and nice individual shops ie cheese shop and fabulous bakery, and a lovely market on the Sunday morning. We would definitely like to stay again - thank you

A comfortable & spacious apartment with ideal location within easy walking distance of the city centre. Plentiful supply of kitchen equipment, cleaning products, bedding & towels. This was our 4th stay & although the cleanliness was much improved from last year there was still room for a little improvement. Overall, good value for a holiday in the fantastic city of Edinburgh.

Really loved this apartment, after a really bad expierence in Barcelona this apt was a palace. very warm cosy, brillant location. Excellent price.
apartment was very secure and had everything one needed for a pleasant stay. close to all the shops and just a few minutes walk to the royal. 6 of us stayed here and not one complaint.
looking forward to staying again next year
