OldByreSkye - The Apartment, Ose is on the west coast of Skye. A cosy semi-detached self catering holiday cottage with a double bedroom upstairs and open lounge / kitchen on the ground floor. Next door there is an art gallery and cafe. It is well positioned for exploring the Isle of Skye and Raasay.

Perfect for 2 people. Well-stocked kitchen, fine selection of walking books, reading books, DVDs. King bed is very comfortable. The internet broadband is the best in the area. We would definitely stay here again. A bonus - Hugh has fine coffees and cakes along with light lunch and soup in the gallery next door.

This property was in an ideal location for us. Good sized parking space. Entrance hall for boots waterproofs etc
Kitchen and lounge spacious and very clean Kitchen was very well equipped it had everything we needed for self catering. A minor negative, the fridge was rather small for our needs. we had taken in a large shop with us and we struggled to fit it in the fridge. This would not have been a problem if we had been made aware when booking it was a very small fridge.
A home baked loaf wine cheese and biscuits made a lovely welcome pack
Lots of information for local walks activities maps etc.
Upstairs the bed was extremely comfy lovely bed linen good hairdryer and plenty of storage and again the room was clean
However the bathroom is very cramped and was not very clean. The web page does not display photo of the bathroom so we were unaware the walk in shower is in fact a shower cubicle with a shower curtain and the ceiling is not full height across the whole of the shower. Have stayed at many holiday cottages and it is the first time I have put on marigolds to clean the sink before I cleaned my teeth. Extremely dusty behind the loo.
What a shame this bathroom has not had a good scrub down otherwise we would have considered this cottage near perfect.
OldByre has so much that is so good but it is let down by the state of the bathroom.

Lovely, comfortable cottage in an excellent location and perfect for getting about the island. Well equipped and clean, everything you could need is provided by thoughtful hosts who live nearby and run the adjacent gallery and cafe. Highly recommended.

We had a really lovely stay at Old Skye Barn. The accommodation is much nicer and bigger than the photos. We were welcomed by the owners and shown around. Location was excellent for touring Skye and we also had a couple of leisure cycles.

The cottage was fully equipped with modern appliances and everything you could ever need. The owners had thought of everything and welcomed us with a lovely care package on arrival.
The location was ideal, in a quiet spot, yet easily accessible for all the main tourist sites. The view of the Cuillin from the bedroom window was a bonus! The room was spacious with plenty of storage space and a really comfortable bed.
There was a good selection of dvds to choose from which was a lovely touch. As well as lots of books and maps of the local area. The owners had also printed out a full folder of walks from the incomparable WalkHighlands website - an invaluable resource for anyone exploring Scotland.
All in all a lovely stay on a wonderful island full of fun stuff to do and beautiful places to see.

We had a lovely week staying at The Old Byre Skye Apartment, and received a very warm welcome from Neil & Claire. The Welcome Pack, was a lovely touch, and we thoroughly enjoyed the Homemade Bread, Wine, Cheese & Oatcakes.
The accommodation was very well equipped and had everything we needed and more. it is ideally situated to visit a number of local tourist attractions.
We would recommend a stay at The Old Byre Skye Apartment.

The cottage was sparklingly clean and surprisingly spacious. Exceedingly well equipped kitchen including dishwasher. Magic!! Comfortable sofa and very comfortable king-sized bed. The ensuite bathroom is small but did the job. WiFi and other technology worked well and included a rack of interesting music CDs. Brian Eno or The Peatbog Faeries anyone? Initially concerned the The Old Byre was a bit isolated but this was never a problem. It's strategically placed on the west coast roughly midway between the Cuillines and the northern peninsulas and the B road across to Portree is good fun and has a couple of spots for a quiet picnic. A variety of eateries lie within a ten mile radius. (The adjacent cafe was closed during our stay.) Our favourite place was The Inn at Stein, north of Uig. Altogether we enjoyed our time at the Old Byre and can thoroughly recommend it.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for a holiday stay. It was very clean and the owners were very considerate of COVID safe procedures.
The owners were very welcoming and had left us with some lovely bread, oatcakes and cheese and a few other goodies on our arrival.
The cottage is in a really good location for exploring the north west of the island and not too far from the Cuillins.
When the Cuillins were clear we had a fantastic view of them from the bedroom window.
We would definitely consider staying there again.

We have had a lovely week's stay at The OldByreSkye Apartment. We would highly recommend the hosts who provided a home from home and very unexpected and much appreciated welcome goodies of a bottle of wine, freshly baked bread, milk, chocolate tea cakes, cheese and crackers. The apartment was very well kitted out and a great base to explore The Isle of Skye.

This is a very nice little cottage, clean and tidy and well equipped, the hosts offered a very warm welcome and took the time to show us around and offer advice on places to to visit. The only small thing is that we like to have a cup of tea in bed in the mornings but the position of the bed under the sloping roof didn't allow us to sit up and do this,

Perfectly placed.

The Old Byre is in a good location for travelling around Skye. The cottage is equipped with everything you may need and is very comfortable. Although you knew the hosts were there, they did not intrude at all. I only saw them passing on the way to their café or if I went in there; however as a solo female traveller it was good to know they were close by if needed. The welcome pack was a nice touch. The only reason I have only marked VFM as "good" is that this year I found Skye and Scotland in general to be more expensive; that said it would be fair to add that this property was on a par with others and not overpriced in comparison.

Perfect place to stay to visit all the attractions on the Isle of Skye. We visited Dunvegan Castle, Coral Beach, Neist Point Lighthouse, Fairy Pools, Isle of Raasay, Armadale Castle and Museum as well as walking around Loch Caroy across the road from the apartment! Spacious apartment with a comfortable bed! We had a lovely meal at the OldByreSkye Gallery and Cafe!

A well maintained up to date little property that is extremely well kitted out.
From the warm welcome given by my hosts, to the goodie bags that are on arrival, this place is just brilliant.
I have to say the home made bread was lovely and went down a real treat.

What a wonderful, warm, cosy cottage. Fully equipped with everything you could think of, even an on site cafe! We have never known such a comfortable, pleasant and well kitted out self catering establishment. From all the kitchen utensils you could need to books, games, CD's and DVD's. Well located on the road to Dunvegan with upstairs views of the Cuillins to glorious dark skies on clear nights. Wonderful!

We have enjoyed a fabulous week on Skye, with the Old Byre perfect in terms of accommodation and location. For me it was a return to Skye after some 10 years and we had a great week, cycling and walking as well as enjoying some amazing scenery and not a drop of rain all week (we experienced torrential downpours on our journey to and from Skye!). The cottage was well equipped with wifi (important for us), music, plenty of books, satellite TV (so I could keep up to date with the cycling!) and handy for some local walks and attractions. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful - the bottle of wine and biscuits was a lovely touch. Thankyou for a great week

Accommodation spacious and comfortable. Plenty of extra heating available, if required. Bedroom also fairly roomy and bed had a good, firm mattress. Utensils in kitchen excellent and all gadgets in good working order. Very generous welcome pack.
We did feel (as we're in our mid seventies) that a small wooden chair near to the entrance might have been useful for taking off our muddy boots.
Owner very obliging and instructions given on arrival regarding the property very thorough and useful.
Plentiful supply of maps, info on walks/tourist spots/places of interest/where to eat, as well as books in general, many about Skye, and DVDs.
The accommodation is in a good location for exploring Skye. The only drawback is that wherever you are on Skye you are going to be a long way from one part of it as it is such a big island. We have never explored the Sleat peninsula so if/when we come back to Skye we will probably seek some self-catering further south, although will be lucky to get somewhere as good.

Wow what an amazing place ! The owners have literally thought of everything it's the best equipped self catering cottage we've ever stayed at . Great location on the not so busy side of Skye and close to fairy pools , coral beach and portree . Lovely views , very peaceful , quiet location . Owners were very friendly and provided an un expected welcome pack of yummy things including home baked bread and shortbread . WiFi was included which was great as phone signal is not great in Skye ! Can't fault anything there was a washer drier very handy for wet weather and heaters for if it got chilly even a hot water bottle :D . Property was super clean and bed amazingly comfy would definitely stay again

Accommodation was ok. Privacy however is very limited as it is attached to the owners property, not stated anywhere on the Highlands and Islands website. The accommodation is only separated by an internal door and we could clearly hear the owners having an argument while we were in. Not what I expect and would not have booked this accommodation if it was in the website. Enjoyed the area.

This property is superbly located and set out, it's like a home from home, Claire and Neil have done a great job setting this up, must be the best single bed accommodation on Skye, so close to the main rd, and so quiet, if your looking for accommodation as a couple this is it..
Would strongly recommend..

We stayed for a week at the Old Byre, with plans to walk and cycle around Skye. Though we arrived quite late - around 10pm, the hosts are very welcoming, with a bottle of wine and a lovely loaf of home-baked bread.

The cottage itself is very well appointed and on arrival was spotless. The kitchen was as well stocked as you could wish, and there was a good selection of local guide books - indeed we used one of the walking books quite a lot. The bedroom was spacious and the need comfortable. The bathroom is cosy, and if you're tall or.stocky you might find it a bit cramped, though we had no problems. The only minor criticism of the property is that the walls are quite thin, so our host-neighbours could frequently be heard when we were in. It does kind of stop you fully relaxing when you're aware that other people can hear you so clearly.

The location is a little bit out of the way (though easy to find), which will suit some and not others. Just be aware that the nearest shops/pubs/etc. are in Dunvegan, a good 7 miles away.

All in all we had a lovely week, and would recommend the Old Byre.
