The Villa Lamaro was absolutely amazing. The house has the most breath taking views and is perfect for outdoor living. We were a family of 8 and spent the majority of the time outside. The owner Luca is one of the nicest people we have ever met. He is accommodating and willing to help you with anything. The house, patio and garden areas are absolutely immaculate and you can see the the pride of ownership the moment you meet Luca. In addition, a house keeper comes every day and cleans for hours to ensure that the house remains clean. My only recommendation would be that the bathroom could use some updates, but everything else is so amazing that it really didn’t bother us at all. Piano de Sorrento sits perfectly between the overcrowded Sorrento and Positano with taxi rides to so many popular cities. You just need to be more organized and schedule rides ahead of time if you decide to not rent a car. We really enjoyed the remoteness and spent a lot of time at the local restaurants that made us feel like family from the moment we left. Would highly recommend Quercus Lunch Bar (new restaurant with the most amazing family) and Zio Sams (amazing Italian food with breathtaking views and friendly staff).

Our family cannot wait to come back to Villa Lamaro…we will definitely be back.

From the moment we called Luca to confirm we would be at the villa in a few hours we new the level of service to be provided was going to be high. Luca kindly met us on the main road and showed us to the villa as it was off the beaten track (300m). The villa is amazing with incredible views of the sea. Four of us stayed in the villa 2 adults 2 children (9 & 12) and there was plenty of room and a very good size pool. The villa was cleaned every day and beds made all to a high standard. Very enjoyable. A car is a must if you want to visit Sorrento and the surrounding villages / towns.

A most amazing week in the most beautiful of places!

Villa Lamaro was the perfect home base for our adventures on the Amalfi Coast. The views from the villa were breathtaking. It was comfortable and spacious. Luca saw to it that we had everything we needed. We highly recommend a private boat tour of the Sorrento coast, over to Capri.....it was a highlight of our week. We also had a wonderful meal prepared by the chef and his assistant. The house keeper, Rafaela, was fabulous! She came in daily and tidied everything up, which made it so nice to come home to after a long day of exploration. Pompeii was wonderful. We truly enjoyed Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento and highly recommend a visit to Ravello, which is just a few kilometers above Amalfi. We will definitely be back! A big thank you to Luca and Rafaela!
The directions to the villa were not exactly clear so be sure you ask for more explicit directions.

We had a great stay at Villa Lamora over the October bank holiday 2015. Really spacious, well kept and interesting accommodation (unique pieces of furniture etc), lovely views over the coastline and sea. I would have liked more time there to explore - but reality beaconed . Our kids enjoyed the large pool but, being October, it was a little fresh for the adults!

Overall I would highly recommend it - but make sure you get directions or a map (or both) we came ill prepared and spent a fair while finding it.....

There have been many positive reviews on this property, which led to our rental. The view of the southern Sorrento Coast is beautiful and certainly that was nice to have daily. Unfortunately, our group did not have a $5000 experience. Based on our stays all over the world, and again, paying $5000/week, the following are reasons for our dissatisfaction. One reason taken individually would not matter, but collectively, it would not lead us back to Villa Lamaro again:

1. Everyday we had dogs and cats come visit us. They both came to beg for food and one evening one of them got into our kitchen through an open window and ripped open our garbage. One of the dogs was a pitbill and would not respond to our requests to leave--it was unsettling--especially since sitting on the deck in the evening was the best part and this is when the episodes occurred nightly.

2. You are in coastal Italy and air conditioning is an option, but these are not American A/C units--thus you sleep with your windows open, which is fine with us. However, the local neighbors dogs BARKED ALL NIGHT LONG. Another neighbor had a habit of working in his olive grove (or something else) beyond midnight. It was crazy! Here we are with this expensive rental and you'd think we'd spent 1/3 as much to stay in a 3rd world country.

3. On our first day there, the owner checked us in. Like a good owner, she wanted to make sure we had everything we needed after our full day of exhausting travel. Even though I had an email confirmation that our 800€ deposit could be made via credit card, she asked for it in cash. Then she says we need another 150€ for the extra power we were going to use. How did she already know we were going to spend extra? We convinced her to let us measure a before and after to see how much we used and then would settle up. The difference? 36€ Again, we just gave her almost $5000 and she comes back to us for $40. Petty.

4. We stayed in Tuscany the week following and also had an issue with ants, which often happens in drought situations. However, at Villa Lamaro, we had ants in our rooms, on beds/pillows, all over the kitchen and even my daughter's dental retainer, left out one day, she returned to find covered with them. Not a huge deal, but something that should be addressed.

5. In other villas where we spend this sort of money, it is customary to have a few items on hand to make the stay easier. There was not one bottle of water, or olive oil to be found. We had to buy extra toilet tissue and with only 2 kitchen towels bought some paper towels. The pans were from a college apartment--absolutely awful. The real kicker? No salt. We bought a box of it so hopefully future guests won't have to make dinner the first night without it.

6. The swimming pool is nice, albeit it is up on the 2nd level and out of the sun--so if you like those two things together, it is not an option.

In Summary, a place with a beautiful view but because of so many distractions and inconveniences it does not live up to the price paid. We should have paid half of what we did.

The villa is stunning and has amazing views over the coast. It is difficult to find, even with google maps, so make sure you get directions before hand! The terrace and pool are nice areas to relax and enjoy the weather and all 4 bedrooms are large or doubles.
There were a lot of ants that got everywhere, including in your suitcase, but that might have been the time of year and for the €60 per person cleaning charge, you would expect clean towels and toilet paper, otherwise there were no other issues and we had a great time and enjoyed the stay.

Thank you to Luca, the house keeper.

I would be happy living here

We loved this villa. It is very big, there were 7 of us including a baby and it worked very well, you could probably increase that number by another 7 and you wouldn't be on top of each other. The villa is down a private road and you need a car but it was 20 mins to Sorrento where our family took advantage of the excellent train service to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius etc. We also caught the ferry from Sorrento to Capri. If we didn't eat locally (La Rosa or Zio Sam which were both excellent) we drove in to Sorrento and ate in the many excellent restaurants.
The villa is furnished in traditional Italian style and is a little old fashioned for some tastes. It could do with a few modern updates.... the showers in the main part of the house; though I'm told the shower in the annex was excellent. The bed linen and towels although clean could also do with an update....white sheets please!
The terrace is superbly equipped with large table and chairs/sun loungers/swinging settee and the view to Positano is so beautiful, you'll want to just stay at the villa and go nowhere else!. The view from the kitchen was my favourite, you can watch the boats and water taxis.
The views from the upper and lower terraces are so wonderful, they remain with you even back home. All of the bedrooms are on the 1st floor and all open out onto the upper terrace where the large swimming pool is situated. There are sun loungers here too and a great shower. The pool is a little deep for small children but there is a shallow (1M) end.
The wifi was sporadic but then you are out in the countryside so this is somewhat inevitable.
The kitchen again though old fashioned had everything you will need and is well equipped with a great fridge/freezer. There is a tiny laundry with an oldish washing machine.....it doesn't take huge loads but is adequate. You can dry all of your washing outside.
We never watched tv so don't know whether the set or reception are any good! But you really wouldn't want to watch tv here!
We had a bit of a problem with ants, they move in if you leave a crumb anywhere but the cleaner does her best to deal with this sort of problem....or unblock your shower. She's really very good and though we didn't at first think it necessary to have a cleaner every day (except Sunday), on review it was good to have her as the bathrooms and kitchen and bedrooms all had a good clean every day and all we had to do was load the dish washer and cook a bit of pasta occasionally.

Villa Lamaro is an awesome place. The views are amazing. The villa is awesome. You can walk (steeply downhill on a road) to the sea, and Luca is a fabulous host. It's a big, wonderful place that's well worth the cost of a visit!
