We stayed at Highbullen last year only to find a change of ownership and rebranding. The boys (10/12)loved it, as did the dog! Plenty to keep everyone entertained. Constructive comments: the bistro menu needs to be more like the old one in the cellar bar, soups, sandwiches, fish and chips, ( a look at The Exeter Inn menu fab) etc. There was nothing on the menu that appealed to me, and as the only eatery open at lunchtime we went elsewhere! The shop was very expensive and had little in the way of essentials.
Otherwise the staff were very helpful and friendly, activities were unusual, accommodation probably due for refurb in line with new ownership.

A most enjoyable stay for all the family. Spacious, clean & warm accommodation with full kitchen facilities. Hot tub & nearby sports facilities were great. Staff very helpful. Only downside was the remote location & some small roads were in bad condition....Sat nav did get us into a few tricky situations made worse by heavy rains on a couple of the days ( but it was November!! ). Otherwise a great weeks stay.

Fairways East + room 65 provided lovely accommodation for our family of 9 .
Food in the hotel was excellent and the surroundings were picturesque and quiet.
There were plenty of activities for adults and children .

Stunning luxury 4 bed 4.bath holiday home. Fairways East is part of Highbullen Hotel, so you have access to two swimming pools and a really well equipped gym and restaurant.
Its set in a beautiful part of North Devon with some interesting access routes to it. It's extremely quiet and relaxing.
All the bedrooms feel like you staying in a luxury hotel. Later in the year there will a hottub to use on the patio which will add to its appeal. The downstairs space was fantastic for entertaining, everything you needed in terms of equipment, except maybe a can opener.

There were two small things, not big fixes, that would make this property perfect. The first is boosting the water pressure in the showers and the second is fencing in the garden. We showered after using the gym and pool rather than use what we're very nice looking showers from which you just got a fine spray of water. The lack of seperation between the gardens Fairways East and West led to a guest the other house following their dog round to where we all sitting in our pyjamas, to pick up after their dog who decided to mess right outside our door.

This cottage is large and well appointed but starting to show signs of wear and could do with a small upgrade. The carpets on particular are stained.
We had a problem with hot water which was partially resolved by the hotel.
On the whole it is a lovely place to spend a few days .

Hi Nesta, I am sorry that the house did not live fully up to your expectations. Unfortunately, as we have had back to back bookings we have been unable to rectify the issues with the carpet, as I am sure you were aware the carpets were hoovered but the stains are not ones we could remove. The stains have been flagged and when there is a window to do so replacements will be measured and fitted.

We had a lovely time at the cottage, however considering COVID the cleanliness was not as expected, we had to vacuum under the sofas and mat. One of the bathrooms could also have had a deeper clean, as dust was evident.
In hindsight we should have shown the manager to enable the cleaning to be rectified.
This did not spoil what was a wonderful stay with friends, the outlook and facilities onsite were all brilliant. The Cella restaurant served great food.
Two of us had treatments which we both said were the best we have ever experienced, the beauticians were lovely ladies.
Overall we would recommend the cottage to others.

A great setting overlooking stunning views. Proximity to the golf course was a bonus plus being away from the main hotel complex.

The accommodation was spacious and furnishings comfortable. There were a couple of faults with electrics and sanitary ware but these were fixed quite quickly by the maintenance team. On the whole a very enjoyable and relaxing stay with great recreational facilities.

One major disappointment was the delayed entry to the property. Set at 5 pm by the Hotel (bad enough but can live with reason-just) we weren't able to enter the property until 6.30 pm because the cleaners were working hard elsewhere on the site and hadn't prepared the rooms by the allotted time.

Unfortunately, due to the number of staff off at the time and the condition the cottage had been left in by previous guests there was a delay to getting the property ready for your arrival. Very spacious house in a lovely setting, gardens were lovely and maintenance staff were very quick to arrive when needed. Slight issue, the outside paintwork needs some attention.

Had a lovely stay here. Property could do with a bit of maintenance and fly eradication though, but very comfortable plenty of room, pity not all facilities were open but understood the situation of getting staff back after the lockdowns..
kitchen in the cottage was amazing - nothing was forgotten and plenty of beautiful crockery, cutlery and glass wear!

We have stayed at fairways East before some years ago it did not disappoint, house lovely plenty of space very clean, plenty of equipment in the house, we ate in the hotel each night food was fab Staff very friendly, we had b fast also on our departure date lovely but pricy for what you got, the facilities are excellent at Highbullen under normal non COVID circumstances billiards, outdoor pool to cold now though, golf, Simulator, surrounding area is very remote the tight lanes are fun, Lovely for walks though

We had a warm welcome and our house was well lovely and bright with a view of the golf course.
The bedrooms are large beds a bit soft for me as I have a bad back problem but our friends loved them. We had a problem storing our clothes away with having to leave them in piles on the window sills as we didn’t have a chest of draws or shelves in our room.
The shower was very poor it wasn’t very powerful but there was plenty of hot water.





We really enjoyed a 2 night stay in this fabulous cottage - would have liked to stay longer.

The cottage offers lots of space which we really appreciated being a family group of 8 with a dog. The conservatory overlooking the first green on the golf course was superb. We weren't able to use the facilities in the hotel as we weren't there for long and found they were already booked. If we return, we'll book in advance to avoid disappointment.
The location of the cottage is superb in the sense that it is situated in lovely parkland. The flip side is that any off-site activity may involve a bit of a drive; but if you want to stay put and enjoy the hotel facilities and the beautiful surrounding countryside, then it's fantastic.

This property was excellent 2 years ago but now appears tired and in need of some care, it needs simple maintenance of loose door handles and drawers in the kitchen, door locks and needs general redecoration, carpets need cleaning, floor in conservatory needs repair/replacement.

A fabulous house/cottage for a family holiday. Something for everyone - golf, swimming, tennis, various dining options should you choose to have time away from the kitchen. We are no strangers to High Bullen and will continue to return.

This was a great place for our extended family. It’s on the Highbullen resort so there was something for everyone - golf tennis gym swimming etc. The house is comfortable and well equipped. It has good size bedrooms which all have bathrooms en-suite. The kitchen dining and lounge areas are all big so it is perfect for large family groups. We had a wonderful time.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fairways East, fantastic location and great facilities in the pavillion and outside, stunning views and great location for the north coast beaches as well as different locations for Tarka trail cycling. We were very lucky with the weather, watching the sun rise from the conservatory over the peaceful golf course was such a lovely experience.
Some of the beds were too hard (we were told, ours was fine) and some bathrooms a little bit dated but completely adequate. Water pressure in showers very weak but again this did not affect the enjoyment of our stay. The one thing we did feed back was the lack of recycling facitilites - it felt wrong to put all the rubbish together although we were told that the service men do separate the rubbish once it's been collected. Still, it would be great to have different bins outside the cottage so that we could separate glass from paper, food waste and general rubbish.
All in all, thoroughly recommend the hotel, the cottage and the leisure facilities (gym and tennis courts superb!)

It's now become an annual event to book this cottage in the run up to Christmas for us all to get together.

The layout is superb and really lends itself to big gatherings. All bedrooms have ensuite and with 2 up and 2 down it's easy to spilt the rooms between the different age groups. Kitchen is extremely well stocked, unusual to find everything you need. Great facilities with the golf and leisure centre - both of which we've taken advantage of.

Highly recommended.

Accommodation was perfect for our large family celebrations and very warm and comfortable with all the space we needed as well as being excellently stocked with all equipment/utensils for self catering.
Tip-a clothes airer would be useful for swimming/wet golf gear.
Restaurant facilities at the hotel and sports complex very good. Good food both in the Restaurant, Cellar Bar and Tearoom. Staff lovely.
Local village shop well stocked and friendly.
Will definitely return and fully recommend.
