We had a very nice stay at Victoria Cottage. The location is prime for access to the train station and walking into the city. We didn’t have a car and we were able to get around easily. The cottage is super cute and charming. The stairs are very steep so I would not recommend this for small children who may have trouble on the stairs, however it wasn’t a problem for us. Our exchanges with customer service were pleasant and efficient. This is a wonderful option if you are traveling to York!

Perfect stay for two nights with my husband and son. Very comfortable and only a 10 minute walk to town. York Stays were brilliant throughout. The only problem was that despite the parking permit being included we got a parking ticket right outside the house which we were told we need to appeal ourselves. We are still awaiting the outcome. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Great location. Lovely and clean cottage. I took my mum with me who is 85 years, the stairs are very steep going to the bedrooms, and quite dangerous for her in the night as the bathroom is down stairs. I couldn’t get the television to work and realised the battery’s didn’t work, so had to buy new batteries. The hairdryer wasn’t there so called your office and they replaced the next day but not till the afternoon.

From start to finish we have had a wonderful experience with Stays York. After being scammed on booking.com (through a different property) Stays York helped me to book directly with them, saving me £££'s.

The property itself if beautiful and charming. We felt so comfortable there that we felt as though we were in our own home. It has all the mod cons including excellent WiFi and a dishwasher.

We didn't see a spec of dust or dirt, everything was immaculately spotless. The water and shower was hot, the heating was great, the beds were comfortable and the towels and sheets were of excellent quality. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the property or the customer services received from Stays York.

The property is a stones throw from Ouse bridge into the city itself, which makes it a fantastic base from which to explore York. Parking was super easy, the street was pretty empty for our entire stay (Ghost Week/ Half Term/ Halloween).

I would 100% recommend Stays York, I only wish they had properties throughout the UK for our next adventures.

Stairs are very steep - so this house is not recommended for anyone with mobility problems.

Electronic car parking permit issued by StaysYork did not prevent us from getting a Penalty Charge Notice claiming 'parking time had been exceeded.' StaysYork confirmed, in response to my written complaint, that the permit was valid. This is a very narrow street with no proper turning head at the end where Nr 10 is located. The Enforcement Officer said that he had responded to a complaint received about blocking a garage (opposite the house). This had not occurred. No person asked me to move the vehicle at any time during out stay.
I can only conclude that someone living in the street is hostile to visitors who park their cars here.

We stayed at Victoria Cottage for our 15 Year Anniversary and we loved it. It is minutes walking distance from the Town Centre, great location. The house itself is lovely, very clean and has everything you need. We enjoyed it that much that we stayed an extra two days, which was no problem with the owners and we just called up, booked again and just paid over the phone.

My only negative comment would be that it was quite expensive but it is in the prime location and very clean and tidy so can't really moan.
