This is the second time that we have been to Cartole Cottages and it was just as good the second time around. Shippen Cottage is very comfortable, pretty, with a great sitting out area and with all amenities. Karl and Miles were, as usual, very friendly and helpful. The cottages are in a lovely quiet area surrounded by fields, but not far from anything, the best of both worlds.

Third stay at the Shippen cottage and had another amazing stay. Super location. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you need. Surrounded by fields and when the sun is up the patio is a proper sun trap. I instantly relax when I stay here. Can’t praise the place highly enough.

Shippen cottage really is a home from home. The hosts Karl and Miles cannot do enough for you and have a wealth of knowledge on the local area for dining out etc. The location is excellent. The cottage has everything you need and is furnished beautifully. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

We’ve just returned from another wonderful holiday in Cornwall!
We loved the cleanliness and comfort of The Shippen, and the peaceful rural location was an ideal place to relax after exploring Cornwall for the day.
The cottage was well equipped and, as Karl and Miles are onsite, any issues we had were dealt with quickly - the WiFi went down- we told them and it was back on within minutes.
Our light bulb popped in the bathroom- we told them and Miles quickly came down to the cottage and replaced it for us.
As well as visiting the beautiful and quiet local beaches, Lansallos and Lantic Bay, we enjoyed some lovely scenic walks which Karl suggested- The Cheesewring on Bodmin moor and the Luxuylan Valley.
Can’t wait to return to Cornwall and Cartole next year!!!!!!

We had a fantastic break, with lovely weather for the whole week.
Both Karl and Miles were wonderful hosts, they were very welcoming to my wife and I.
The two of us both thought that complex of all the cottages to be a well thought out set up.
We look forward to organising another trip sometime soon.
Also found that the booking from their Website to be nice and easy to use.
Would highly recommend to others.

Had a lovely relaxing week at the Shippen cottage. Great location. We were spoilt by the beautiful weather and made the most of the sun trap patio. The cottage was clean, felt like home instantly and had everything you needed Just far enough out the way to really feel the benefit of the countryside but literally 10 mins to Looe. The hosts were very helpful with advice on places to eat etc. Totally recommend the little barn restaurant.

Staying in a fantastic 2 bedroom cottage in perfect surroundings what more would you need!

We recently returned from a fantastic stay at Cartole cottages. This was our first visit and we stayed in the wonderful Shippen Cottage which is particularly well appointed and had everything you could ask for. including the added bonus of a dishwasher! The beds are extremely comfortable so made for a great nights sleep and the cottage was spotless. We were very lucky as we were there for a glorious week in October of wall to wall sunshine. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts who went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay recommending some amazing walks and great places to eat all within a few miles of the cottages. Our favourite was the fish market in Looe a must but you need to book.

We cant wait to return to the cottages with some friends as soon as we can. Thoroughly recommend.

We stayed in Shippen cottage in August.
It’s the perfect location, with lots of walks and beaches a short drive away and the north coast is only a 40 minute drive.
We holiday here every year, as, although the weather can’t be guaranteed (we were lucky to get 10 days of glorious sunshine ☀️) the super high standard of the cottage facilities, the lovely outdoor space (love the new pirate ship ‍☠️ In the play area) and helpfulness from Karl and Miles, can be. As the title says, just perfect

We had a great stay, the only problem we had was with the shower and Karl was over immediately to sort it out and it was only a question of turning a knob more forcefully. Karl was very friendly and helpful, really lovely place, would love to come back in the summer to use the lovely patio area.

So glad we got to holiday in Cartole Cottages again this year.
As always, Karl and Miles were there to help and make sure our stay was as perfect as it could be.
The cottage was immaculately clean and still retained its comfortable and homely feel, despite some changes made for Covid regulations.
Sitting outside the cottage and relaxing in the evening after a day spent exploring Cornwall, enjoying the sights and sounds of this beautiful rural location, really is the ideal place to be.
We can’t wait to return next year!!!!!

We discovered Cartole through friends and planned a long weekend with 8 of us. We can not describe how lovely the setting ,the cottages and the friendliness of the Cartole team were. The quality of everything is superb, we stayed in Shippen which is beautiful with everything you would need. Carl and Miles are great hosts and look after your every need. We will be returning !

Shippen cottage is really nice and cosy with all the facilities you are likely to need. "Shippen" is just one of several cottages on this former farm site.The whole site is clean and well tended. It is no longer a working farm, but sheep are kept in adjacent fields.
Karl and Miles are great guys who do a good job running this set up. It was fairly quiet when we were there as schools had just gone back, but the site has an excellent children's play area and you can imagine little ones or indeed our grandchildren having a great time here.
Location is OK, but you do need transport to get around. Nearest pub is in the village ( Jubilee Inn) and is about 1.25 miles away. The Inn serves very good quality real ale and although always very busy, we found the food and service good. Both Lanhydroc and Cothele are excellent National Trust sites and well worth a visit. Just a note that Public parking charges in this part of Cornwall are indeed steep, so be prepared with a tub full of pound coins. We enjoyed our stay and am happy to recommend. AW

Super holiday at Cartole Cottages, again!
The Shippen is a lovely cottage with all you will want or need. Super comfy beds, room to relax and if you stay in to cook, lots of equipment to do so and a fab patio to eat out on.
Pelynt is a great location for accessing the lovely south coast and only a 40minute drive over to the north coast for big waves, at our favourite Polzeath beach.
Karl and Miles are the perfect onsite hosts and really do care about making your stay the best that it can be.
We’ve stayed here many times and will do for many more. Love it!

We had the most relaxing and comfortable stay at Shippen Cottage. Cartole Cottages is in a lovely location and just a stone's throw from the beaches and villages, so a very convenient place to stay with a family. The cottage is so inviting with great character and just spotless with everything thought of - it is a real home from home and we loved it and could not fault it. The interior of the cottage is so beautifully done with a nod to the seaside and the countryside, even providing toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets and towels. The owners Karl and Miles are also lovely and friendly and they really care about their guests having a good holiday. The patio outside is a lovely place to sit and listen to the sheep and enjoy the peace of Cornwall and is a real suntrap as we were blessed with super weather. This is a really special place and we highly recommend it.

It was our first time staying at Cartole Cottages and we were not disappointed at all. The cottage was immaculately clean, very comfortable and cosy and in a perfect location for our day trips out.

The overall setting is very peaceful and tranquil, the grounds are extremely well kept and the kids play park is in excellent condition ( I say that because in the past we have been let down by tired equipment and facilities).

I couldn't recommend these holiday cottages enough, we will definitely be returning!

We’ve been here for holidays on numerous occasions, and enjoyed another great stay this year.
Shippen cottage is ideal for us, as it’s pet free, so no allergy issues for my husband and son.
The grounds are beautifully maintained, lovely rural and peaceful location,the cottage has everything you need, it’s super clean and we liked the new paved patio area.
It was lovely to meet Karl and Miles, always there for a friendly chat and keen to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. As they live on site, they’re able to sort any issue you may have, very quickly, professionally and with a smile.
Pelynt is just a few miles away from Looe and Polerro for the fishing towns- boat rides, shops and restaurants and also close to the amazing walks and beaches at Lansallos, Lanivet and the stunning Lantic bay. Easy access to the main roads too for trips further afield.
We can’t wait to come back next year and see the new games room and other additions Miles and Karl have planned.
Cartole Cottages always gets a big thumbs up from us!!!!!

To book and chose a Cottage was simple and straightforward. On arriving at Cartole Cottages, we were greeted by the lovely owners Karl & Miles who gave us a tour of the beautiful Shippen Cottage and gardens. A good Welcome pack left in the Cottage was well stocked with everything required plus a guide folder with lots of information of surrounding attractions. The Cottage was very clean & tidy with all the technology needed, You really feel like it's a home from home. The area is so quiet with occasional bleating from the sheep in the next field, it's such an idyllic and tranquil place. ONE WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had a wonderful week in the fabulous Carthole Cottages. We stayed at "The Shippen" which was perfect for our family. The cottage and the grounds were beautiful and really child friendly. The Cottages are a short drive from lovely beaches and towns and the countryside in and around is gorgeous. Our hosts were so helpful and kind. I would love to return.

Our stay in Shippen cottage was very enjoyable as we found the cottage to have everything needed for a relaxing peaceful few days away. The cottage was cosy and clean and the beds very comfortable. We were greeted by Carl on arrival and made to feel welcome but as everything (apart from the wifi) was perfect, had no need to contact him during our stay. The location of the cottage complex is great for days out. Will hopefully be visiting again next year.

Once again we've had another great holiday down in Cornwall, staying with Cartole in the Shippen cottage.
The cottage is a home from home, the grounds are beautiful and the play area certainly keeps our son amused.
It's the ideal location to stay, lots of things to do nearby- beautiful beaches and coastal walks and you don't have to travel too far to experience the rest of Cornwall.
Steph and Jeff are always available to help and I'm sure we'll be back again next year. Thank you.

A holiday cottage for grandparents, son and daughter in law and grandson. The cottage was perfect - spotlessly clean and comfortable with everything needed provided. Extra touches of soft toys on single beds - much loved by grandson, barn full of sit on and ride toys and fantastic, enclosed playground with big red tractor, playhouse complete with teaset, goalposts and balls, slide and swings. Outside cottage, seating lovely for al fresco meals. Nice walks around the grounds, very well maintained and pretty, and fields with pond, seating and willow arch for a relaxing stroll. In a lovely location with views and plenty of attractions on the doorstep - Monkey Sanctuary, Talland Bay with lovely café and café beach huts perfect for children and Coddy Shack for delicious fish and chips. All in all a lovely holiday well suited for three generations. Couldn't fault it, would highly recommend and would love to return.

Shippen Cottage was very clean, comfortable and smart. Our children enjoyed the playground. Everything was well kept and the owners were very friendly.

Warm welcome, clean cottage, with beautiful surroundings. The playground for the kids was a big win! 10 minutes from Looe with its little shops and lovely sandy beach. Ideal location for exploring.

We had a lovely stay in the shippen cottage. The cottage itself is very well equipped and beautifully decorated. Also the gardens are magnificent, every corner is worth a picture. The kids were overwhelmed with all the outside toys, bikes, tractors etc. And Steph & Geoff are very helpful. A perfect location for discovering Cornwall.

We stayed for 11 nights and had such a lovely time at Cartole Cottages. The out door facilities were perfect for the children. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the location was peaceful (just what we wanted). Geoff and Steph were really friendly offering anything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Our two young children took a huge shine to Twinkle and Muffin (the resident dogs). We would recommend the cottages to young and older families. The only improvement that would make life a little easier is better wifi as we struggled to upload websites when looking for days out in Cornwall.

Our best holiday yet, and we especially look forward to staying again next year with my parents. Can't wait! :o)

A truly wonderful setting. We have stayed in the cottages before and each time have not been disappointed. The cottages are situated just outside Looe and are ideal for exploring Cornwall

We stayed during a week in June, and the cottage itself was immaculate! The kids could not believe the fact that there were toys to play with outside, including bikes and ride on's. The park facilities were also fabulous and the kids loved that also. The cottage itself was furnished to a high standard and it is very well look after. There was everything that you could want, and Geoff and Steph were very accommodating. I cannot recommend these cottages highly enough.

The cottage was perfect for our holiday. It was clean, tidy and furnished to a very high standard. I brought so many 'essentials' with me and found they were all there, ie towels, loo paper, kitchen towels, paper towels, dishwasher tabs, dishcloths, soap and so much more. We received a lovely welcome after a 9 hour tiring drive. The farm the cottages are on is so pretty and beautifully laid out and peaceful. It is an ideal place for exploring Cornwall. I would definitely recommend cartole cottages to anyone.

A great location for spending some quality time in a rural area. The Shippen cottage is a spotlessly clean and tidy place to stay. Plenty of space for children to play on the property. Absolutely recommendable.

We had a lovely family short break. Very peaceful and quiet location, beautifully kept grounds. An ideal place to relax, while the children can make use of the very well-equipped play area. We've now been three times. We love it and will be back again soon. Geoff and Steph are very welcoming hosts and their dogs are much loved by our children. Perfect spot for countryside views and beaches close by, we particularly like Talland.
