Part of the Loch Ryan Estate, and an old shepherd’s cottage before its rebuild, Little Laight cottage has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 offering stunning views of Loch Ryan, the Mull of Kintyre, and Ireland.

Little Laight Cottage has been built to a high specification, with its own water supply, double-glazing throughout and underfloor electric heating provided whenever possible by a nearby domestic wind turbine. All on one floor it sleeps six.

Wonderful location, lovely cottage, peaceful and we were blessed by the weather. All scores would have been higher but the beds need upgrading. However, we will return.

We loved our stay at Little Laight. It's a perfect location to explore Galloway and the beautiful beaches, gardens, lighthouses and fascinating military heritage in the area. On a wet day we went to the Burrell to see the Degas exhibition. But also a great place to walk and fir nature. Look out for the Brown Hares, kestrel, twite, whinchat and I think a merlin. The drive is steep but fine if you are used to a rural setting, just take it slow and watch out for young pheasant who run across the road.

We had a lovely time at Little Laight, however we did encounter some issues with the heating not working and the water system breaking down, the estate staff and plumber got things sorted as soon as they could.
We also noticed that the tumble dryer is not safetly fitted above the washing machine and really needs sorting as " little fingers " could access the electrics, the microwave count down timer was not working properly and the kettle could have done with a descale too, the rug in the living room was curled up at the corner, causing a trip hazard, we turned it around but the other corner was the same, all little things, but noticeable. In general, Little Laight would benifit from a little T.L.C.
This is not a compaint, just observations.
We look forward to a return visit, as it is a place of tranquility.

A beautiful cottage with wonderful views of loch and beyond including distant views of Ireland. We were grateful of the warmth offered by the cottage in view of the not so warm June weather.

this was our second visit to this beautiful clean cosy cottage it's very well equipped , wonderful views over loch Ryan .unfortunately the road up was a lot worse than last year and on the Friday half way back up to the cottage the computer in the car told us we had a problem with the tyre a huge flint had gone through the tyre luckily it was a run flat and we managed to get to stranraer had to order a tyre which wasn't going to arrive until midday on Saturday, as we had to leave by 10 we had to wait at garage for 4 hours in total ,and the wheel trims are all ruined by the road up .it cost us £177 for a new tyre not the best way to end a lovely week at little laight it's such a shame the road up is in such a state because it really is a lovely cottage .

We stay in many cottages throughout the UK each year and have never experienced such a wonderful location as Little Laight.
A spacious and well appointed cottage in complete isolation sitting above Loch Ryan with views over the Mull of Kintyre and Ireland.
A two week stay gave us opportunities to explore the area however we found the opportunity to just chill out at Little Laight more enticing.
Watching Martin the Shepherd at work was very educational for us in lambing season.
Morrisons delivered the weekly shop so no reason to leave at all. The two weeks just flew by.
As a golfer this is a great location for proximity to top golf courses on the Ayrshire coast and locally at Stranraer and Portpatrick.
This is now one our favourite cottages.

We stayed here over new years holiday period 2023/24.
We always went abroad, but because we did not want to leave the dog we chose here, as rural and looked nice.
To our delightful it met all our expectations and more. We are a family of 6 and 1 dog more than enough room.
The path up to the cottage I though was a bit rough but manageable. The weather was kind to us. We would like to book in the summer months as I think it would give us more opportunity to explore the land and area.
Highly recommended the beautiful cottage and the cleanliness and how it was equipped was 5stars.
Very warm and comfy. No expense spared by the owners to allow comfort.
The nice touch was milk in the fridge and Mr kipling cakes for our arrival.
5star plus more.

Little Laight differed from the photos.
To help the owners, and not as complaint I feel I need to make comments on beds in twin rooms. My son was unable to sleep on either bed,too soft, even placing mattress on floor was of little relief .
Re cleanliness and upkeep
Namely kitchen floor, not really clean and the floor is damaged under one of the chairs.Underfloor heating may be affected.
Such a wonderful location a pity the upkeep and cleanliness was not up to standard

We had a good holiday meeting up with other family members. The view is lovely and we enjoyed being in the middle of the muir, just like home. We took two cars a Landrover and a Mercedes ,the Mercedes didn’t like the last mile or so of rough road! We had never been to Dumfreis and Galloway before and the house was well situated to explore the area.

Extremely comfortable well equipped cottage with wonderful views. Lots of wildlife to watch too, we had lots of housemartins busy feeding chicks on our stay and we spotted several deer along with other animals and birds. Perfect location to explore the surrounding area with many walks, gardens, beaches, woods and historical castles and other picturesque locations to visit. Lots of good places to eat many have a fairly good gluten free menus. A trip to Wigtown is perfect for a rainy day if you like books.

Wonderful location.
Peace and tranquility which was why we chose this location.
The Cottage was clean comfortable and the scenery was marvellous waking up in the morning.
We were fortunate to have decent Weather during our stay.
Everything we required was within the Cottage .
The Owner was very helpful prior to our departure. Many thanks
The Road was a bit rough in places but not a problem for us.
Sitting out overlooking Loch Ryan was a joy and very tempoting to take a day trip to ireland.
