It was an all round fine experience. We found nothing at all to complain about. Out of the owner's control is the relative absence of walks without a vehicle from the house which do not involve entering or crossing the A6.
We stayed in this self-catering cottage for 1 night (2 adults) to break up a long road trip. It's very comfortable - lots of lovely rustic wooden carpentry and a wood burner (although we didn't need it as we stayed in July). There's lots of wildlife about, there's a river weir basically on the doorstep and the village is quiet; great for walks if you're staying longer. Nearest pub is 15 minutes walk in the next village (The Butcher's Arms), with great food (but book in advance if you're a larger party). Comfortable, cosy and spotlessly clean. A perfect compromise between camping and a cottage. Loved being outside but still comfortable in the rain. Great location for the quiter bits of the lakes. Tab was so helpful and friendly.
A beautiful old house. Old features well preserved. Modifications such as on-suite facilities, all very tastefully carried out in keeping with the age of the building. Beautiful location. Suits visitors who are happy with the remote location. We had a very happy stay, a family gathering for a wedding at nearby Knife Hall. A visit to nearby Lowther castle, pparticularly the adventure playground was the perfect family day out.
Great, back to basics accommodation in secluded setting. Great location for walking and outdoor activities.
We stayed at talbot house as a base for a glorious summer wedding, but we had a lovely surprise, in that, the surroundings were fabulous and we would love to come back for another trip. The cottage was quaint, clean and well equipped with great views.

Stayed for 4 nights with 2 x 14 year old boys. Camp had everything we needed, well equipped, we loved it.
