Conveniently located just a short stroll away from the centre of the historic town of Dorchester, Glyde House offers spacious accommodation for all the family, with a large garden and pretty countryside views.

Nice house in a peaceful location but only a short walk to town centre and a easy drive to Weymouth beaches. Great service from Dorset Hideaways.

We love Glyde House, this was our third stay. The location is brilliant: quiet and yet only a short walk from the high street one way and beautiful water meadows the other. Enjoyed Park n Ride to Weymouth for beach days and wandering around the harbour.
The house feels like a home from home. Everything you need and plenty of space for everyone. Big flat garden which is great for the kids. Being able to play the piano on holiday is a treat (though the piano needs a little tlc this year).
Just disappointing that Dorset Hideaways didn't come out to fix something we reported at the start of the stay.

We were 8 guests made up of three families aged from 18 months to 69 years and we all loved Glyde House. We cooked most nights and can confirm that the kitchen is well equipped…….we could have done with a flat baking tray but it really didn’t matter, there were loads of different size roasting tins. Great to have a decent size fridge too. We cooked a roast one day and had all we needed - even serving dishes and gravy boats! It is an ideal house for a get together as the rooms are all really spacious - the twin is huge! Bedrooms all have drawers and/or hanging space aplenty, house was very clean (indeed) we were impressed with all the toiletries left for our use. It’s pretty obvious that the owners are often in residence and that they genuinely want people to be comfortable and enjoy themselves. A cupboard full of champagne flutes confirms that! We also thought that the cost for a week represented good value for money. Finally, we have been impressed with the communication flow with Dorset Hideaways.

The house was very comfortable and large. A well equipped kitchen and very good living space. Perfect for a large group. The garden was ideal for children with space to run around. The location was excellent and within walking distance of Dorchester and also close to the river and some lovely walks.

Such a lovely house and in a brilliant location. Water meadows walks 2 mins walk in one direction and the high street 2 mins in the other. Lovely big, flat garden perfect for children. A baby grand!! Lots of space for everyone.
Used Park n Ride for family beach trips to Weymouth. This was our second stay at Glyde House, hope to come back again!

Very nice house, plenty of space for our family group, all the beds comfortable with quality sheets etc. Great garden space for play with a raised deck area for outdoor dining. Superb location for easy access to the town's attractions and shops/bars.

The house was excellent for our purposes, which was a weekend wedding in the Dorchester area. However, it did feel a little dated and some of the beds and chairs could do with replacing, so, with reservations, we were happy. We locked ourselves out once, but the emergency number was answered immediately and the problem resolved, so that service worked well.

On the positive side this is a beautiful house with lots of space and very good-sized rooms upstairs and downstairs. There was a Christmas tree in the lounge to greet us, a lovely touch. The house is ideally situated within close walking distance to all amenities and Dorchester town, yet with river and countryside walks also on the doorstep. There are comfortable beds (quite high though) with lovely soft bed linen. The towels were also soft and a good size. There is a large kitchen with table and chairs at one end, plenty of room to move around and plenty of storage space. The heating was efficient. Unfortunately we couldn’t use the open fire as young children were around.
Less positive points were that we felt that the house in general had a tired feel to it; the soft furnishings were tired as was the decoration throughout. The sofas and chairs need updating and the downstairs toilet is stuck in a time warp! The shower cubicles really need re-tiling and re-grouting and cubicles and shower sprays should also probably be upgraded. For some reason no foot towels were provided for baths or showers so we had to use the hand towels. The kitchen equipment was adequate but not great. Some oven trays needed replacing, there were a lot of dishes but no small casserole dishes with lids, the scales only weigh up to approx.800gms, not great when cooking for lots of people, the oven really struggled to cope and maintain temperature when cooking larger meals. Although there were a few plastic plates and beakers there was no children's cutlery. A high chair was provided on request as was a rather small travel cot and stairgate, however we were of the opinion that in general the house was not really equipped for younger children or toddlers. For example, it was a good job that we had taken booster seats, lidded drinks containers, a step stool and children's cutlery ourselves having 3 children age 4 and under. Also for parents of young children please be aware that the beds are higher than usual; the 4 year olds coped ok but younger children might find it more tricky.
None of the above would stop us returning to the house should we have another family get together in the area, they are really just points to consider. We did feel that the rental was on the high side though taking everything into consideration.

11. No waste bins in lounge
12. Single beds were very high for small children under 5
13. Only one supplied key can be a problem when someone forgets to place it in the key safe. This is easily done when people are in and out at different times. We would suggest supplying two keys to avoid the problem we experienced.

The house is great - has a really nice feel to it and we were all very comfortable. We loved playing the baby grand, picking fruit, and sitting and playing in the lovely garden. The boys loved it - lots of outdoor space. And plenty of room generally for everyone to have their own space. The location was brilliant too: walks by the river a matter of yards away in one direction, and in the other, the high street; and yet still wonderfully quiet. We loved afternoons on the beach, too - easy with the park and ride.
Refreshing to see some eco-friendly cleaning products for us to use, thanks!
Not convinced by Dorset Hideaways' 'oven glove' (we ended up using our own), more big pans would be useful for cooking for a family and the sustain pedal on the grand needs a little oiling. Otherwise a wonderful stay and we look forward to returning!

Lovely house in quiet street but near High Street for shops and restaurants. Big, beautiful garden for little ones to run off energy in. Spotlessly clean and with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this spacious and very well-equipped home. The location is perfect with everything you could possibly need just a stroll away. We were very lucky to have glorious weather so made the most of the lovely garden, enjoying most of our meals on the deck with views over water meadows.
