We were 6 adults and 3 children celebrating a 70th birthday. The cottage was very suitable for us and the hot tub was used a lot.
The layout is really good with plenty of room. The fourth bedroom is quite tight when the (uncomfortable) sofa is up. No parking really as on a main road but this did not cause a problem as the pub was happy to take two cars. All in all a great stay.

What a fabulous holiday house, we had the best time in this comfortable home and we enjoyed all the facilities that the house had to offer, very well equipped kitchen with plenty of space for our large family. Would definitely recommend for a family or friends getaway home. Loved it and will definitely be going back one day.

We had a lovely stay at Shaven Cottage. Very comfortable and very well appointed and in a fabulous location and I would definitely stay there again.
A couple of things though which could be improved upon. I did try to get hold of the property manager by messenger and email to ask various questions before our stay but no one responded which was frustrating. One of the questions was about the quantity of wood provided for the wood burning stoves as I knew we would be using them. There are three stoves and should have been enough logs for each to get going according to the blurb but there were in fact only three logs which actually looked like they’d already been partly used. This is a premium property and as such it would be a good idea and probably wouldn’t cost a great deal for there to be a supply of logs in a store to the rear of the property. This would be great for people staying over the winter months and save traipsing to the garage especially if you were without a car like us.
Apart from that a fabulous cottage.

The property listing confirms that only a starter pack of logs is left for guests, therefore any additional logs would need to purchased from a local convenience store or garage. We had a short stay and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hot tub was a great hit with all the family especially the grandchildren. A great place to stay.

Thanks for providing us with the opportunity to review Shaven Cottage. We had a wonderful stay - the house, decor and garden were lovely, however there were two issues we were unhappy with, one big issue and one minor issue (which did impact on our stay).

The first and major issue was the failure to disclose that the cottage is on a main road. The traffic and speed of the traffic was a big problem particularly with dogs, elderly people and if you had young children. The description describes a village location which is true however the road was a major issue for us - even crossing the road was perilous as you had to run given cars travelled through at high speeds. I recognise you cannot be held responsible for the speed in which cars are travelling but you do have a responsibility to let customers know about the road.

The other issue was the lack of coffee making facilities. No provision of a cafetiere was super disappointing given the standard and cost of the accommodation. We had to drive to Chipping Norton both mornings to visit Cafe Nero in order to get coffee. We couldn't get on with the on the hob espresso maker and given there were 5 of us, this was not a practical solution. This is an easy fix.

I would recommend the property if the road is disclosed so you can make a choice as to whether this is suitable for your needs. Until then, I would not recommend.

Shaven Cottage is located in the heart of the Wychwoods and Shipton, the largest of the Wychwoods, is a picturesque village that is very well connected to London. The exact location can be seen in the property map which shows the proximity of the A361, additionally, this is also shown in one of the photographs. A cafetiere is typically provided for guests and we’ll ask that the property manager checks this is still available. For anything like this, it’s always best to reach out to the property manager at the time of a stay as they are on hand to help and will always work to ensure guests have the most enjoyable stay at the properties they manage.

We do advertise the property has having 2 spaces for cars on the narrow driveway and there is 1 additional parking space for larger vehicles in The Shaven Crown Hotel's car park. Please note that only an initial supply of toilet paper is supplied with each changeover. We hope that overall you enjoyed exploring the Cotswolds and that you will be back to stay again soon!

Beautiful property with plenty of space so the family could spread out. Bedrooms were very comfortable and the facilities were very good.
Location was great with two pubs within walking distance which was perfect.
Parking is very tight but we parked in the road opposite without any difficulty.
Highly recommend

Beautiful and well appointed cottage in the lovely village of Shipton under Wychwood. Perfect for family get-together to celebrate a big birthday. Our dogs too were very welcomed including a luxurious dog bed! Bedrooms are all excellent with very comfy beds. The outside space is fabulous and although we visited in November, we could imagine the bifold doors open to the patio with its fire pit, outside table and hot tub. Ideal for walking in the Cotswolds or visiting the cute villages. Loads of good pubs around: we would recommend The Lamb Inn in Shipton, The Hare at Milton, and the Royal Oak in Burford (especially for the pies!).

We had a great week at Shaven cottage. It's very comfortable, with high quality furnishings. Very conveniently situated to explore the Cotswolds. Had everything we needed for an enjoyable family get-together. (Parking restricted though, we parked across the road most of the time)

We visited shaven cottage with a group of friends for my birthday. The cottage was spotless, modern and had a great outside area. This is the perfect place for large families or groups of friends to rent. Very easy to get to surrounding areas by car. Would definitely recommend!

A fabulous family Christmas, spent in a cosy home , in a beautiful part of the world.
Three wood burning stoves, excellent, a must for any Christmas house. It did take a little convincing though, as to how Father Christmas got down the chimney.
We were 7 adults and three children under 5 , Shaven cottage worked very well for us . Good size rooms , nicely decorated, plenty of space for all to eat , play or disappear for a quiet moment. The Swan only a short walk away where we had an excellent Christmas Eve lunch.The little local park with the zip wire also proved very popular with the little ones and big ones ! As was the hot tub every morning and evening for 7 days.
We had a few minor issues during our stay that were taken on board and very quickly sorted out by Chris and Daniel. Especially after we had left , Chris went beyond the call of duty searching out and retrieving several items, we inevitably left behind. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
We definitely would like to go back to Shaven cottage, if they will have us that is.

We had a very nice and relaxing stay in Shaven Cottage which was beautiful and also wonderfully clean and warm and cosy. Driveway is a little bit tight but fine once you're in! Good location and close to a super pub. Thanks for all help and assistance.

We have just had the most wonderful stay at Shaven Cottage for my 60th! This cottage is awesome. Every room is decorated to the highest standard. It felt like we were in a brand new place. It has everything you need and the garden with the hot tub and fire pit were just the icing on the cake. There are some lovely pubs within walking distance and some beautiful villages a short drive away such as Bourton on the Water. I have stayed in numerous houses/cottages over the years and this one is by far the best! We will definitely return. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Shaven Cottage. The cottage is beautiful, it had everything we needed for a perfect weekend with family. It’s a great location too. The owners were also fantastic at sorting out a problem we had (of my own making nothing to do with them!) and could not have been more response and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend!

Shaven Cottage is a fantastic property, decorated to the highest standard inside and out. The facilities are first class and it is an ideal property for a large group.
