A luxury country house which has been restored to a very high standard. Situated in the beautiful Val D'Orcia, only 4 Km from Montechiello. Pienza is 6Km and Montepulciano only 11 Km. A beautiful region of famous Italian wines, charming Medieval towns, Renaissance art treasures, ancient castles and the stunning landscape which has made Tuscany famous world wide. Chef service available. Satellite TV, sauna, gymnasium and hydro-massage bath. Air-conditioning in bedrooms.

Spacious family home, equipped to a high standard in idyllic setting.

This property is a traditional Tuscan house with some impressive additional modern additions , a good sized swimming pool, a gym in an outbuilding with jacuzzi, and an exceptionally well fitted out kitchen
Unfortunately the jacuzzi was empty and not in use and the gym only accessed after we asked for it to be unlocked. The television equipment could not be made to work. The wi-Fi was a little temperamental but adequate.

The house is located amongst farm buildings on an unmade up road so be prepared for an unwelcome number of flies and if you have a car with a low chassis it will not like the access road.
Prepare yourself for a visit in late spring, early summer with plenty of insect repellant and applications for insect bites, they are inevitable.
The pre arrival shopping service is a must if you are arriving late in the day as the nearest shop is 7km away and you will have a nearly 3 hour drive from Pisa airport to reach the property.
The instructions for finding the property were totally inadequate and the reason for only an OK for customer service in the questionnaire above.
The first members of our family to arrive in Pisa and drive onward, spent some considerable time trying to locate the property. Having finally found it, they sent Google map longitude and latitude references to the rest of the party to guide us in.

The property really worked for us as a multigenerational family celebration venue, we particularly liked the open sided barn with a huge dining table where we gathered each evening, and the pool.
In view of the amount of vegetation debris, by mid week the pool really looked as if it could do with a clean, perhaps a pool cleaning robot?
The on site owner’s representative Nicola, had excellent English and was very responsive to our queries and requests. When we asked about rubbish collection he collected up and took away our bagged up refuse, he arranged a plumber to visit when a toilet developed a leak from the cistern, and resolved a hot water supply issue we had, by pointing out which of the multitude of switches In the kitchen operated the boiler.
Some fore knowledge in this regard would have been helpful, perhaps a label on the boiler switch which looked just like all the others.
The information brochure in English at the property was not useful regarding matters such as rubbish disposal etc, but did advertise a housekeeping visit between 9.30 and noon on weekdays, as well as the presence of the gym and jacuzzi facilities. However none of these services materialised and access to the gym was only after asking Nicola to unlock it.
No cleaning materials were provided and one toilet in particular was seriously in need of an application of “under the rim toilet cleaner”.
On the plus side, because there were no visitors booked for the week following our holiday, Nicola was very relaxed about our departure time on the last day, permitting those of us with a late flight home to hang around until midday. The owner whose home we had been staying in returned that day to take up residence again.
We had 3 grandchildren with us,all under 5 ,and our main safety worries were the un-gated steep stone staircases and fact that the wooden gate to the pool fence no longer closed properly . We had over 3 adults per child in our party so close supervision was not an issue for us, but for a large group of young couples with a majority of young children there are potential safety hazards.

A wonderful Holiday thank you

A very nice house suited us wonderfully - The staff were fantastic nothing too much trouble. Lovely location. Only criticism was that the directions to the house could have been clearer as we go quite lost but that may have been us!
We shall certainly use Bridgewater Travel again - Thank you
