Cwmcrwth Farm Cottages are thoroughly recommended. Tucked away in a quiet, sheltered valley yet close to Llandeilo and good roads, it offers an excellent base for exploring the green hills of Carmarthenshire, the wildness of the Black Mountain and the splendid South Wales coastline. We stayed as an extended-family group occupying the Coach House and the adjoining the Hayloft which was an excellent arrangement for shared activities yet preserving independence. The cottages were spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The former farm is surrounded by hay meadows and woodland offering opportunities for strolls and spotting birds and wild flowers without leaving the site. Much thought has been given to the needs of toddlers and babies but the presence of farm buildings and ponds means that young children should be supervised when outside – as the website advises. The onsite owners, Lucy and Ben, offer unobtrusive but very friendly support and are easily contacted for advice. All in all, a peaceful retreat in a lovely setting yet with good access to provisions in Llandeilo and further shopping in Carmarthen. Use the lane leading north from Broad Oak on the A40 rather than any other satnav suggestion – it’s wider and straighter. We would be very happy to stay at Cwmcrwth again.

The owners make you feel very welcome. Our girl loved the bunnys and other animals!

The place is great! (the rooms where a little bit hot) but it was very warm so nothing to do about that. :)

We spent a lovely week at the Hayloft. We spent lots of time visiting the attractions in the area, but our grandaughter's favourite was helping to feed the animals with Lucy. We have already booked for next year

This is a lovely cottage with castiron spiral staircase. It was cosy and very clean. We loved our stay here and the kids loved going out to see the animals and play in the garden.

A great base for little day trips to explore the surrounding area with two little ones. We have a two year old and a five month old and it's a fab place to stay when you have a busy toddler to entertain. Our daughter was fascinated by the chickens, goats and Guinea pigs and loved the on site play area and sand pit. The accommodation was lovely and clean and Lucy was very welcoming helpful and friendly. The only slight concern we had was the spiral metal staircase didn't have a stair gate at the top (but did have one at the bottom) which wasn't ideal with a two year old but we managed fine! A few little things like mattress protectors and a change of sheets for the travel cots (as little ones are dribbly/spit up) and perhaps a bath support on hand for our baby son would have been helpful but otherwise a great place to stay with young children and we hope to be back again in the future! Thank you very much
