We spent Christmas in this stunning apartment.The rooms were spacious and we had every mid con.Truely wonderful setting with historical links.The spa was well equipped and luxurious but closed for three of the days This resulted in us paying for services that were not available.The customer care was very poor.On our last morning the whole monastery experienced a power cut caused by a storm.We attempted to contact customer care for support and advise The heating was off and electricity for the remainder of our stay.We were left without communication, news or any offer of support.Left stranded with roads closed and no idea how or if we could get home.It was a very scary experience that was made worse by the lack of concern from the staff.We would welcome the opportunity to discuss in more detail and expect a parcial refund.Very disappointing.

We are delighted that you enjoyed the property. Naturally the National electricity outage caused by Storm Gerrit was extremely unfortunate for all concerned. This untimely event happened the day after Boxing day when many staff were travelling to Inverness to replenish stock after the Christmas period, it took everyone by surprise and those staff at The Highland Club tried to help as much as was possible under the circumstances. Many of the staff became stranded due to the number of fallen trees between Inverness and Fort Augustus. It was extremely worrying and we sympathise with everyone affected. Guests were offered compensation when requested and many understood that these were circumstances beyond anyones control and staff did all they could during this unfortunate event.

The location and setting is fantastic. Right on the loch with beautiful views and walkable to the restaurants and shops. We were a family of 5 and the set up of our apartment meant that our children had the master room as this was the only way to get twin beds and we had the other room where the double bed was absolutely tiny so we did not have a comfortable sleep. The third child was on a sofa bed in the living room. The people we were traveling with had two large rooms (one twin and one large double) with ample space in them for an extra bed. This would have been a much better option for us. We also had not realised until the week before our stay that you needed to reserve a slot to use the pool and they booked up very quickly. In the evening you had to pay GBP 5 for each person which we thought was very steep given the cost of the accommodation. That said the setting and building is amazing with a lovely outdoor chess set and an indoor table tennis table plus tennis, badminton, playground and lovely grounds. I would recommend but check the bedding situation! There are also a lot of stairs to carry your luggage too which would not be great for some.

Ordinarily we are are only too happy to receive constructive criticism however on this occasion I feel that the customer has not taken the time to read the property information and the detailed information on the Highland Club Direct website - including video tour and detailed plan of the property. This property is also advertised for 4 people! Due to the listed nature of the Abbey most apartments are different is size and arrangement and therefore as an aid we provide a video tour and detailed plans. In this particular property the second double bedroom is smaller than the master bedroom. The owner has added zip-lock beds in the master bedroom to offer flexibility to guests who have children enabling the master bedroom to be used as a twin arrangement. Had this guest taken their friends apartment both bedrooms are of similar size however, it is one floor above and would have involved another set of stairs. All details on our website display the floor in which the property is located. The beauty of booking with Highland Club Direct website is that the team know all the properties well and can advise which property to take to suit individual requirements. We are not difficult to contact either by telephone or email unlike many of the third party websites. Therefore, I urge guests to use the information presented on the Highland Club Direct website and call if you have any area of doubt as we have the guests best intentions at heart and wish to make your holiday as special as possible. Regarding the swimming pool opening times, to facilitate the busy summer period (July and August) we have increased the number of hours the swimming pool is open. During the hours between 9am - 5pm the pool is free to use. If you wish to attend between 6pm - 9pm then there is a charge. The reason for the charge is to cover the extra staff for this period. All this information is on our website and given in advance of your stay, in order to allow guests who wish to organise their time the ability to do so.

We stayed with the family in the STruan Appartment and everything was perfect. the bed was super comfortable and the view on the Loch amazing.

We spent 6 nights at this apartment and have had a wonderful time.

The apartment is very spacious and well equipt. Lots of towels left for us to use and tea/coffee, milk and cleaning products which was very helpful. The grounds of the Highland Club provide plenty of activities and are well maintained. We made use of the tennis court - rackets were provided in the room and we also used the pool too.

The location is fantastic for exploring the Highlands and although we did quite a bit of driving, it was lovely to be able to walk into Fort Augustus and explore the local shops and cafes. Being such a short walk from the supermarket too is ideal if self catering. We took an evening boat cruise of Loch Ness which can be picked up next to the Highland Club. The boat cruise exceeded our expectations and was highly entertaining. We also hired bikes from the shop in the village which was excellent value and a nice way to explore locally.

I would whole heartedly recommend this apartment for anyone wishing to visit.

My only negatives were the shower didn't drain very well so may need looking at but otherwise this place was perfect.

The Loch Ness cruise is a real gem and a great activity for all the family however, for the adrenalin seekers there is also the option of a rib ride. Struan is a great choice for fantastic views over Loch Ness, it is also worth mentioning that Fraser apartment is one floor above and works very well in combination with Struan for larger groups. This was a beautiful apartment in a beautiful location with a fantastic view of Loch Ness and the mountains beyond. We had a lovely week and would definitely recommend. Struan was a good size and fully equipped for a family. Warm and comfortable. The main bedroom can be double or singles and the second bedroom only double. Worth noting if you are going with children. Our teenage children had the main bedroom with en-suite and TV and we got the second much smaller bedroom! There are no significant negatives but just a couple of things to note to the owner. There are a few large marks on the carpet in the living area which were very noticeable. I assume they are stains and the carpet has been cleaned. There is no fan in the main bathroom. Limited wardrobe space in the second bedroom although no room for more. The pool area was lovely but small. Good idea to limit to only 16 (although that seems a lot for the pool size), but closing at 6pm is too early. If you are out exploring all day you are rarely back in time to use these facilities hence we only got to use them 3 times during our week by booking to use during the day.

Part of the charm of many of the apartments is the design has been incorporated into the old building which is charming however, this does pose compromises. In Struan apartment the two bedrooms are both doubles neither are by any means small however, the master is larger. The owners wanted to offer flexibility to their guests and therefore added ziplock beds to the master bedroom. This does mean that if a twin arrangement is required then it needs to be in the bigger room, sorry. If this is an issue the same twin arrangement is offered in Fraser apartment where both the bedrooms in this property are a similar size and therefore the paying guests get to keep the master ensuite. The beauty of all the properties is that there are no two the same, most of the properties displayed on the Highland Club Direct website have many original features, and unique features from the Abbey. Moving on to the comment regarding storage in the second smaller bedroom. The owner has provided a single wardrobe which appears to be adequate for holiday needs. Thank you for pointing out the stains on the carpet, we have instructed the management team to attend to these immediately. I will raise your comment regarding the pool opening times at our next meeting. Staff permitting we will try and extend these. Your comments have been extremely constructive and helpful. I cannot imagine a more magical location. Driving into the grounds of the old Abbey took our breath away. The gardens, the tree lined drive, the Abbey itself, the views of Loch Ness, the quick path to town.....WOW!!! Then we entered our flat (Straun) and we were welcomed home. The suite had beautiful furnishings, tall ceilings, old architectural details and a modern kitchen and bath rooms. This made our stay perfect. We could not have picked a better place to stay in Scotland to explore the highlands!

Apartment was beautiful, clean and very well stocked with everything we needed.
Customer service was great all the way through the booking and arrival process and we would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking for accommodation in fort Augustus.

The Abbey development has the most perfect setting on the shores of Loch Ness, and the 'Struan' apartment has one of the most beautiful views in the building.
'Struan' is unreservedly Scottish - with antler light fittings and tartan in abundance! The bathrooms are modern with quality suites, and the apartment was cosy, warm and comfortable.
The facilities available in the Abbey all added to the general enjoyment of our Scottish break.

Struan is a lovely place with unbelievable views of Loch Ness, right outside the lovely village of Fort Augustus. The combination makes it a winner. The property was impeccable, both inside and out. The managers were lovely and so helpful and full of great recommendations. The linens, towels and bathrooms were superior. The living areas and kitchen were stunning. I would stay here again, no question. It accommodated our family of five easily...the 13 year old on the pull out couch...and it was such a lovely place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. The grounds and surrounding property are so lovely and just strolling around and sitting by the loch on the benches was magical.

During the end of May 2018, we had the pleasure of staying for six nights at the Abbey in Fort Augustus Scotland.
On our arrival we were met by a rather lovely "Scot" who showed us around the abbey and then on to our apartment. The apartment that we stayed in was called "Struan," to say we were blown away is an understatement! It was first class luxury! Furthermore, the place was spotless and provided equipment that we needed to ensure a pleasurable stay. We both had a wonderful time. Thanks go to the "Highland Club"

Everything was excelent. Only one suggestion to give customers a perfect comfort in this wonderful property:
the temperature of the central heating is not enought for such a big property and that give not a perfect comfort for the customers.
The rest of our stay was perfect.

The apartement offers great views on Loch Ness. In the mornings we could watch a lot of wildlife in the gardens of the Abbey. The apartement itself is well equipped and especially the living room is very comfy for long winter nights. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return again.

lovely location, and apartment in a genuine monastery with cloisters, chapel and refectory with stained glass windows. The Struan apartment we stayed in is beautifully furnished and has lovely views looking down loch Ness. Although one of 100 apartments it has retained a feeling of seclusion and tranquility.

We enjoyed our stay in Struan. The apartment was in a great location and was very comfortable for the four of us. Would stay there again.
Management were conspicuous by there absence, however we had no problems so that didn't matter.
Fort Augustus is a fabulous place for a holiday. Would really recommend the rib trip up the loch with Marcus...excellent!

We have absolutely enjoyed staying at Struan. Lovely decorated and a spectacular view. Great surroundings. Some things that could be improved: kitchen pots and pans and ironing board were of poor quality.
