We love this lodge and have stayed here before. It’s very comfortable and homely. The location is excellent. We enjoy the large outdoor decking.

Very nice lodge clean and has everything you need for your stay
In a good location just a very short walk to the lake and near windermere

A well looked after property in a good location. Nice to walk from with many good places to visit within a short distance. We will go back again in the future.

Return visit after staying at Grandpa’s lodge last summer. Lodge was lovely and clean and welcoming with a few new touches since last year. We love how spacious the lodge is as one day we had traditional Lake District rainy weather all day, so just stayed in relaxing and didn’t feel like we were all on top of one another. We find that this lodge works really well for our family (mum, dad and 2 boys 9 & 6). The sky sports package was appreciated so that they could watch the Liverpool match during our stay! The only negative is the poor park wide WiFi.

I booked the lodge last minute for a Easter 4 day break. Lakes and Lodges were extremely helpful as I originally enquired about a different property, but they found me Grandpa's Lodge instead as other property was unsuitable. They answered all my questions promptly and made the booking easy and straightforward.
The Lodge itself was relatively easy to find on the site, parking easy right outside. After a 5 hour drive up from Suffolk it was nice to find a superbly presented and equipped Lodge. There was more than enough room for myself and 2 kids. Kitchen has everything you would need, main bedroom has ensuite, full Sky and roof fitted surround sound a major bonus! Lodge was clean and warm upon arrival, with instructions on how to use the TV. Sky package etc. The maps and guide books were a real bonus as I could plan my routes daily using the A to Z to take in the lakes and also find hidden treasures such as caves and waterfalls away from the crowds. Site itself is perfectly positioned to get out and explore by car, but there is a bus stop not far from site entrance. The site has a decent clubhouse and bar, with plenty of food choices. I would suggest getting into clubhouse a little early if you intend to order food as it does get busy. There are a couple of small kids play areas and you have limited access to the lake itself. In the summer it would be perfect for a lakeside picnic or canoe ride. There is also a small pool on site with added extras if your happy to pay extra. My only grumble there was trying to get information on how to book swimming via main reception was difficult, with the staff clearly stressed trying to book in other holiday makers onto their site. The info I got was very short and inconclusive, after asking to clarify I had eyes rolled and huffs as if I was an inconvenience, so I left it. I'm sure during less busier times they would be more helpful. My only other grumble would be the kids moaning about the poor Internet signal. The WiFi on site is poor and intermittent, and getting a signal is difficult using my phone.
Personally it didn't bother me, I was happy not to have any signal, but the kids did moan a little in the evenings back at the lodge.
Perhaps a small tumble dryer would help during the wet weather to get clothes dry, but we found a clothes horse was suffice in front of the fire or radiators worked enough to dry out wet clothes.
Overall I would definitely recommend this Lodge. Perfectly stocked with all you need, and in a perfect location to get out and explore the Lake District.

Lodge in great location on the park (not far from the lakeside picnic area), really spacious inside and big decked area with plenty of furniture too. Well equipped in kitchen etc and nice touch with books / DVDs /games and a few store cupboard basics. Not a super modern lodge, but in good condition and was perfect for our needs. We have booked again for next year so that says it all really!

We had a lovely stay for bank holiday weekend at Grandpa’s lodge. There is everything you need for your stay and the location is excellent with a view to the Lake. The kids loved the games and the Sky package was excellent on the Tv. We will definitely consider returning.
