Our stay was lovely in laughing duck Lodge, really good location tucked away which was good for us as we have an anxious dog. The lodge itself was spacious, clean and tidy, would definitely stay here again

Very Happy with our stay at the Laughing Duck Lodge only one very small request could do with a little bedside shelf and a mirror putting in the smaller twin bedroom

This is our second time staying at the laughing duck lodge. The lodge and park is ideal for families and pets! Overall, the lodge is great, however, the cleanliness of the lodge was not up to expectations. On arrival the lodge did not smell great, it was almost as if a pet had urinated somewhere. After having windows and doors opened this did resolve that issue. Also, there was a battery missing out of a remote and with having very young kids we searched around incase they would pick it up. We never did find the battery and needed to do a hospital run incase the young one had picked it up (sounds excessive but you can’t be too cautious in those situations - all was fine). Whilst looking for the battery we did come across old socks under the sofa, and in the bedroom our little boy found what looked like an old cake bar that must of been under the bed. Other than the cleanliness and the battery incident (which can be easily resolved) we had a lovely time at the lodge and we would recommend staying there. Also a little tip, maybe keep all cleaning amenities that are under the sink in a higher cupboard for guests with young kids, we always check and move them but not everyone may do that.

Thank you for your review, Rachael and bringing a few things to our attention following your stay to Laughing Duck. We were sorry to hear of your experience and noting your comments about the cleanliness, we have spoken with the cleaning company responsible and they have assured us that any issues will be addressed and that something similar will not be repeated. On our part we shall be monitoring the lodge more closely. It is unusual to receive such comments about this lodge and are confident, a one off. We have replaced the battery in the remote – thank you for letting us know. Whilst we realise it is now too late to put these right for you, had you contacted us at the time, these matters would have been resolved and with little impact on your stay. As such we can only apologise for any inconvenience caused. We note your further comments, thank you. We are delighted to note this was your second time to Laughing Duck, the lodge has had much work carried out over the past couple of months, along with a new decking and hot tub area, greatly improving the guests experience. We are sure that should you wish to return you will find everything to your satisfaction for an enjoyable stay. We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future.

The beds were extremely comfortable.
The bedding was lovely and soft.
The towels were tatty, old and brown.
There were 20 hangers between 6 people for a weeks stay.
One bedroom had no wardrobe.
There were only 3 dessert spoons for a lodge for 6 yet about 20 knives.
Such easy issues to fix so why haven't they.
The hot tub was a disappointment, the lid is falling apart so it had lots of leaves in the bottom and the jets barely worked. I could have made more bubbles blowing through a straw.

Fiona - Lakes Cottages and Lodges replied 100 days ago
Thank you for your review, Dawn and we were sorry to hear a number of things were not quite to your satisfaction. We shall speak with the owners and advise they follow up on the issues you have kindly raised and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. That said, noting there were not enough spoons or coat hangers, had you let us know at the time we would have replenished these for you straight away. Whilst we do check lodges prior to and after a stay, it is not always possible to check every little detail on a busy changeover day. We can only say we are sorry and we shall make sure these have been replenished. Thank you for letting us know. Although there is no wardrobe in the third bedroom, there are fitted cupboards for guests to use, this is purely down to the available space and making best use it. As nothing was reported during or after your stay we hope that you otherwise enjoyed your time at the lodge and had a good Christmas.

We had a fabulous time at the laughing duck for our new years break. The lodge is lovely as is the site it is on. A couple of minor things that need some attention i.e. lighting around the hot tub, could do with more of it. But this didn’t impact our stay what’s so ever. We had the best time with our family!

We had a great time at Laughing Duck Lodge! It was so much bigger and even nicer than we ever expected. We felt very lucky to have found this fabulous lodge and would 100% stay again. The only downside was the lighting near the hot tub. It was very dark in the corner where the hot tub was with no lights which made it difficult to get in and out of once it went dark. Otherwise a wonderful place to stay.

Thank you for your kind review, Jackie. It is lovely to hear that you had a great time at Laughing Duck and to hear it was a fabulous lodge. Noting your further comments, we are aware that the park will only allow low level lighting although we will pass on your comments about lighting around the hot tub to the owners for their consideration. Thank you, and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused. We are delighted that you otherwise had a wonderful stay and would recommend to others and look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Thank you for the review, Allan. We take on board your comments and will raise them with the lodge owners. We are sure that any arising issues will be addressed accordingly. Lodge was clean however a few issues. Blinds in lounge leading out to decking were stuck and would not move hence why they were all snapped and broken as had to walk through them. Blind in bedroom broken. Also we discovered there were no frying pans. Contacted them on our first full day and was told they had ordered some but would not be delivered until next day. No pan arrived next day, Contacted again and told they had forgot to Bring it so arrived on our last full day...finally to make a full breakfast!

Fiona - Lakes Cottages and Lodges replied 243 days ago
Thank you for your review, Janine. We are sorry for the issues you encountered during your stay and apologise for any inconvenience caused. The owners are currently looking to have the blinds properly mended although as it is in middle of the busy season, a temporary fix has been done on the blinds until we can get them fully repaired. We are sorry for the misunderstanding with the frying pan, the lodge is once again fully equipped. Thank you for letting us know and we are confident that should you wish to stay again, you will find everything as it should be for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Laughing Duck is a popular three bedroom dog friendly lodge in a great location, with the added bonus of a fantastic hot tub.

Lodge was excellent, and good value for money. The extra large hot tub was superb.
No negatives, except that the decking needs upgrading.
Lakes, Cottages and Lodges Ltd, whom we booked through were fantastic to deal with and we would highly recommend using them for booking
We had a close family bereavement at the time of our original booking, and they kindly went out of their way to advise and let us change the date at no extra cost.
We also had a medical alert dog with us which was allowed free of charge.

Laughing Duck Lodge is a lovely lodge. The hot tub is secluded in the rear of the property so you keep your privacy. This was maintained twice a day.
The bedrooms are clean and spacious, great for 4 adults and 2 kids.
Kitchen is well equipped with 2 fridges, washing machine and dishwasher.
Plenty of parking.
One thing to note is no WiFi. We could not get this to work but found the break from the outside world added to the relaxing weekend.
The lodge is on a Park Dean Resort which has a restaurant, swimming pool, small shop and entertainment. You have to pay separately to use these facilities direct on site so we did not see value in this as only there for the weekend. Anyone with younger kids though this would be advantageous. We were informed by the reception team that you pay once and it lasts your entire stay.
Access to Lake Windermere is a lovely walk from the lodge. You cannot go on the jetties as these are owned by the private mooring but there is a slip way.
Directly outside the site is the bus stop. We took the £2 single ride into Ambleside on the open top bus. It was a great way to see the area.
Also short walk to Brockhole which has a cafe, restaurant, home and Gardens plus a variety of activities.
Overall a great stay and we would definitely return to this lodge for its seclusion and space.

Claire from Grange-over-Sands stayed at Laughing Duck Lodge for 3 nights in March 2023

Fiona - Lakes Cottages and Lodges replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you, Claire for the review and to let us know that overall you had a great stay. Laughing Duck offers superb accommodation for up to six guests in a spacious and modern lodge with the added bonus of a hot tub! As you rightly point out the wifi is provided by the park and as booking agents for privately owned lodges, we have no control over it. That said we shall certainly pass on your comments to the park management and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused. On a more positive note we were pleased to hear that a break from the outside world added to the relaxing weekend. Indeed lovely to switch off completely. Thank you again for the review and we look forward to you returning.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Duck lodge. It is in a great location for Windermere and to explore the lakes, it was nice and tidy and being able to relax in the hot tub at the end of a day exploring was a plus. A few things to note, it wasn’t clear from the description this was on a Park Dean resort. This may be because we originally went to book on Airbnb before coming direct and may have missed it, but it didn’t seem very clear. We wouldn’t have booked a lodge on a Park Dean resort over half term had we known. There was little to no Wi-Fi either in the lodge or on the park itself, which when trying to do a little work whilst on a break, made it almost impossible.

Nick from North Shields stayed at Laughing Duck Lodge for 3 nights in October 2022

Fiona - Lakes Cottages and Lodges replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for the review, Nick. Whilst pleased you enjoyed your stay at Laughing Duck and indeed the great location, we were sorry to hear you were not aware it was a Parkdean Resort. Having looked at what was said to you in correspondence prior to booking, we can see that we pointed out that you would be staying on White Cross Bay Holiday Park. We are sorry that you were unaware the park is owned by Parkdean. We shall certainly look to see if this needs to be made clearer. Noting you had trouble with the wifi, as this is provided by the Park and something outside of our control as an independent booking agent, we can only apologise. That said, we shall of course pass on your comments to the park management and advise they follow it up. We are delighted that you otherwise enjoyed your stay and thrilled you would recommend to others, thank you. Laughing Duck Lodge offers superb accommodation with hot tub, and a great location for exploring the Lakes. We do hope that we welcome you again soon.

We honestly couldn't have asked for anymore from our stay. White cross bay is a great base to explore the lakes from with easy walking access to both Ambleside and Windermere.
The lodge itself was perfect, bedrooms were all a great size and had the benefit of full sized single beds which made all the difference. As dog owners, we travel with everything we might need but it was great to see that dog bowls and blankets are there should you need them. The whole lodge was spacious including the outside. The hot tub was great, perfect size and nice and hidden from others. The enclosed decking was great for keeping my dog in.
Location wise, this lodge is at the end of a little cul-de-sac so we were hidden away. Overall, we couldn't have asked for anymore from our lodge or hosts. Any question was answered quickly by the booking company.
If I was staying in the lakes again, I will definitely recommend this lodge.
