Croft Kincardine is off the beaten track and is slightly camouflaged by its sedum roof. There are virtually no neighbours in the near vicinity making it very peaceful and private and you can enjoy the uninterrupted views across the River Spey from the hot tub or by the fire pit.

From the moment we booked, around eight months ago, we looked forward to our stay at Croft Kincardine and we were not disappointed. We had a magical time. The location, and layout is superb. The feeling of being immersed in nature, with the turf roof, warm wooden construction, nearby badger hide and river was heavenly for us. Croft Kindcardine is a very secluded and private place, with spacious grounds, woodland, and beautiful views from the hot tub! We had easy access to Aviemore with all its activities, a really lovely little village shop in Boat of Garten, stunning mountain scenery but also the amazing native forest of Abernethy. Ideal for a family who loves the outdoors, exploring together, and returning to spacious accommodation to cook together, sit by the log burner and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this woodland lodge.

Our second visit here. Pleased to see the kitchen is being refitted in the coming weeks. We have requested that they supply larger chopping boards and a knife block as the current provision is substandard.

The addition of a hot tub lid mechanism is welcomed.

We would very much recommend a tumble drier as it's near impossible to get clothes that are washed. Dried without causing every available radiator!

Overall, it's very good! We are heading back next year.

This is our third time in this house, and we love it, the location is idyllic. The house is great for a large family, however there are a few things that need to be either maintained or replaced, but this would not stop us using this house again. The staff at GNL are so helpful, thank you.

An excellent property in a fantastic location. Very private, quiet and secluded & well away from the road and other properties whist still being within easy reach of Boat of Garten. Only a short walk to The Spey, which can be seen from the decking. Surrounded by trees & wildlife abounds in the excellent approach track & grounds (we spotted deer, badgers and a great variety of birds (which regularly feed from feeders only feet from the house/decking). Excellent facilities, including a well maintained hot tub, a fire pit & several safe places to place the BBQ (provided). Plenty of car parking space on site. Outdoor furniture is now a little 'tired' and could do with replacing/repairing in order to better enjoy sitting/eating outside & enjoying the view & tranquility.
The property is well equipped internally with 4 bedrooms. Design also allows some privacy between those staying. It was spotlessly clean upon our arrival (and garden/grass freshly cut prior to our arrival & looking very smart). The large combined lounge/dining area provides good space for 8 people and is well furnished & comfortable. Lighting could be improved. Wi-fi has now been upgraded & is generally fine in the lounge/dining area, but 'sketchy' in the bedrooms. New t.v./D.V.D. player is now good but with occasional t.v. reception problems, due to the remote location.
Kitchen is generally well equipped but lighting could be better and it would benefit from the upgrade which we were told in 2022 would be done for 2023.
The benefits of staying here far outweigh the odd small fault. We would not wish to stay anywhere else!

Overall a really good stay. The property is amazing and it’s location is very good. One issue - recycling. When we arrived, the recycling bin hadn’t been collected as either the previous tenants or passers by had put glass in the recycling meaning the bin hadn’t been collected (glass isn’t allowed) and was pretty full. I had to sort out the recycling and take stuff away before we could use bin, not what I wanted to do on my holiday. Please check recycling bin and don’t put glass in!

We loved our week at Boat of Garten. The lodge was perfect and we especially enjoyed the outside space - garden, hot tub, fire pit. Loved evening walks along the river bank to watch the otters. Fantastic light evenings over the longest day and we were able to sit out enjoying the views until late at night. The location was gorgeous. Easy access also to Boat of Garten , Aviemore, loch Morlich etc.
The only problem we had in the lodge was the fridge struggled to keep our food cool and the freezer needed defrosted.

We had a great stay at Croft Kincardine. It’s in an isolated, pretty location overlooking the Spey but only a few minutes’ drive from Boat of Garten. The lodge is cosy, attractive and comfortably furnished. The wood burning stove is great and the hot tub was a hit with all members of our party. The only thing that we were surprised not to find was a washing machine - we had expected that there would be one. But overall, a great stay!

The Washing Machine is in a cupboard outside the main bedroom, just outside the patio doors there is a cupboard by the decking.

The accommodation was great and the location was lovely. The view from the hot tub was excellent. It was very peaceful, too, as it was so remote.

A perfect lodge for those who know the area well and are looking for somewhere that is a little different to give some peace and quiet. While Croft Kincardine is close enough to everything that it is a short driver away, you do need to drive to go anywhere.
A beautiful log cabin that is comfortable and spacious even when full with guests (there was 7 in my party but more than enough room for everyone).
When going to bed or taking the dog out for the last walk of the night make sure you have a head torch as it is pitch black but the skies were clear to give some great views of the stars.
Finally, the location of the hot tub with the views down the Spey are spectacular. Well worth it alone for this great lodge.

Good correspondence with Great North Lodges as always.

The remoteness and location of this lodge is great, it's also very spacious and comfortable. Great place for a family holiday, and this was our third trip. The views from the gardens and the setting for the hot tub are great too. Would highly reccomend this for a holiday, and even great for dogs!

Only comment would be that there's some aspects maybe needing some attention to prevent it starting to feel a little run down now. The kitchen is generally in need of some refreshing, the dishwasher didn't work great and the hot tub buttons were completely worn to the point you don't know what the buttons functions are etc, either. There was some cobwebs in the ceilings which look to have been there for a while, specifically ones directly above the beds. Lastly, the broadband isn't great, it covers only really the main living area, which has posed an issue for us as we have 2 young kids and like to make sure we have their monitor / camera usable from the hot tub so we can keep an eye on them the whole time...we got round that by using our own mobile broadband in the room area, but would be good if there was some extenders or a WiFi mesh kit installed to prevent the need for this.

Overall, despite those little niggles, this is a great place, and we will certainly be back!

Stayed for a week in October half term.

Lovely, warm, welcoming log cabin in the woods. We really enjoyed our stay. Great North Lodges were quick to rectify the broken toaster so thumbs up to them!

Lighting in the cabin would benefit from being upgraded to all LED - some 1990's style energy saving lamps were in situ meaning that it was quite dark in places. Almost all external lights didn't work (probably bulbs blown) but this wasn't the be all and end all.

Hot tub was a lovely feature - raised a possible fault at the end of the stay with GNL as it wasn't maintaining temperature.

Location was fab - central to Aviemore (15 min drive) walks around the cabin were great. Easy access to the river below. Broadband was amazing considering the location! And plenty of 4G too!!!

In summary we have booked again for next year!

Second time we have stayed in this lovely lodge.
The interior is so spacious but remains cozy and comfortable. Great place to relax and unwind, whether it be in the hot tub, in front of the log fire or watching the wildlife and fantastic scenery
A very special place x

The lodge is beautiful, very cosy and the views are excellent! Everything you need is there. Very much space in and around the lodge. Love the outdoorspace! It was a good choice to choose this lodge for my 60th birthday with my family. It would be a 10 out of 10 if there was better cleaning (after sofa's etc) and details such as loose baseboards in the kitchen, taps that are not stuck, pieces from the kitchen cabinet, squeaking fridge. No WiFi in the bedrooms.
