Red Fox Lodge is situated in a rural location with amazing views and is a great base for a family holiday. The enclosed garden with hot tub and BBQ hut enable you to fully enjoy the spectacular views.
There is an extensive garden with several different seating areas and a wild part to the garden which is great for children’s adventures as well as a large decked area with plenty of seating.

Unique and Beautiful

We have just spent a long weekend at Red Fox Lodge. This is the fourth time we have stayed here and where a little worried with some of the comments in past reviews. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and quality glasses.
The location and the house are amazing. The house is quirky but stunning. The main bed is so comfy. The hottub is an added bonus.
Bigger tv maybe but the one there is a good one.

Perfect Location!

We have just spent a restful 10 days at Fox Lodge
Hard to find off the main road in the dark after a very long drive - use Google maps not Sat Nav
Lodge is well planned and laid out - why have cream carpets though when you are so particular about dirt ad allow dogs?
Cutlery comment from another - it is plentiful just "toy/children" style - small and not what you would have at home - could definitely be improved but all other kitten utensil / equipment is good and plentiful
The view from the kitchen is spectacular but with the sunshine - not complaining about that - it is extremely bright and very warm - the blinds can of course be used but you lose the view!
Sunshine brought with it flies - a plentiful supply attracted by the white external walls - so very warm but can't open windows as flies get in - swatted many during our stay as we had such fab weather
Plentiful array of wildlife - dear in adjoining field, and if you buy / bring bird food you will see all sorts of tits, nuthatch, woodpeckers as well as sparrows, robins and blackbirds and if very lucky the curlew and buzzards!
However, the single thing to note is that in the main bedroom - again great views / flies - but the bed is soooooooo soft and for me exceptionally uncomfortable and felt more like a cripple after sleeping in it - so turn the bed regularly / remove the soft topper or replace both topper and mattress as despite all the really great things about this location / lodge, I could not sleep here again!
Finally the hot tub useless in the cold nights to use as is outside but the sauna which would have been great was not in use?
And for those that are coffee drinkers as not in the lodge details - it is caffitiers / ground coffee so if you like pods - take your own machine!
GREAT STAY / LOCATION - shame about the bed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Red Fox Lodge. The location is fantastic for exploring the local area. Close to local amenities whilst being very private and peaceful. The beds were very comfortable, lots of space in every room, plenty utensils, glassware, plates etc and storage for food, kit etc.
We enjoyed the hot tub, the BBQ hut and the garden.
The GNL team were very swift to respond to a couple of queries we had, so excellent customer service too.
Many thanks - we hope to return!

A lovely spot but getting a bit tired round the edges.

Red Fix Lodge has an amazing location with great views and a lovely big garden which was ideal for us and our dogs. We have stayed at the property a few times and what lets the house down is very much the kitchen which is full of clutter but lacks enough dishes or glasses for even the most basic catering. We were only a party of 4 and struggled so I’m not sure how a big party would manage at all. The sofas in the lounge look good but aren’t at all comfortable at the end of a day out exploring. All easy fixes and especially the kitchen wouldn’t need to cost a fortune to fix.

Cupboards are full of glasses, plates and cutlery enought for 7. This is checked every week.

Great location. Warm comfy house. Could do with a bit of TLC

First off the house is in a great location with a secure garden, which was ideal for our dogs. (Our large puppy couldn’t get out but a smaller 1 might be able to get under the gate due to driveway tyre erosion). Down at the end of a small drive it’s secluded enough, apart from the odd rambler and cyclist passing by, but easy enough for Tescos to find do deliver a big shop just after we’d arrived. Close enough to Aviemore to stock up for the rest of the week. Tried a walk up the path from the house but there was a herd of free roaming cows with calves and dint want to disturb them with the dogs.

The house was alway warm (turned a couple of the radiators down) and the showers were warm and powerful. Shower and the bathrooms seem to be the most modern updates. Hate the sliding door to get into the downstairs shower as it regularly got jammed. All rooms have light curtains/blinds so bring eye masks if you like dark rooms to sleep. Had no issues with the Wi-Fi.
View is amazing and the garden has the ‘wild’ feel to it. Weed suppressant material is showing through on the paths, and although I love the wild look it will hide the stunning views if the trees are left unchecked. Didn’t use the hot tub as it was just too cold to brave the dash down to it. Might have used it if it was on the decking under the kitchen window as it would have been closer but that’s just nit picking. There is a sauna in the garden but not to be used. Didn’t use the bbq hut in the garden as again the weather wasn’t the greatest.

As mentioned in a previous comment the kitchen is what lets the house down. It has a lot of utensils but all of the knives were blunt and the pans were scratched and no longer non stick. Couple of deeper baking trays would help for roasts. You have to reset the oven clock to be able to use the grill or oven. Found out how to do this by trial and error as the gentleman we phoned didn’t know how to do it. PRESS THE LEFT TWO BUTTONS THEN TURN THE DIAL TO SET THE CLOCK. Any time will do but if you want to set the time turn until you get the right time. The fridge handle had long been lost and a key ring split pin was its replacement. Not sure how safe the ‘leaf’ glass is between the stairs and the dining room so we made sure the dogs didn’t play near it.

Would we stay here again……..possibly as it was perfect for the dogs, but probably not at the same time when you have to pay top money but not get top utilities.

A very special lodge with outstanding views and facilities.

My husband and I stayed at the red Fox Lodge with our 5 and 7 year old.
We had a wonderful time, enjoyed the bbq hut for marshmallows and hot chocolates and the hot tub. The lodge was in a great location and we were able to travel and explore the local area well

A lovely place to stay. We will return

Really nice place to stay with good grounds and space.

This property has so much potential to be amazing

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it felt homely

My constructive feedback would be.

The couches in the living room although very nice are not very comfortable for a weeks stay and given the size of the property there isn’t enough seats.

The pans and knives etc although very well stocked are very poor quality. We struggled with cooking and chopping food since the knives were all blunt and the pans were old and poor.

There should be at least one change of bed sheets IMHO

Storage (bikes and ski’s) is very limited. We were luck since we had a van but we did t want to leave them in overnight.

Other than that the place is extremely well equipped and an excellent place to stay.

We will absolutely return.

I would make special note to the management agency who were very good.

All in all 4/5 it’s just a shame how close it is to being 5/5 (in my opinion) albeit I do own and run services accommodation myself.

We (two families with young kids) loved our stay at Red Fox lodge. It is perfectly hidden off the highway close to Aviemore.

The house it’s self has an amazing layout with lots of space. The facilities (hot tub and bbq but) are the reason we booked the lodge and they did not disappoint!

The house is also insanely warm, you won’t go cold! The kitchen is a bit dated (oven was far too complicated for my limited use), but has everything you need. And the view out the kitchen window, to die for!

We will definitely return to red Fox lodge.
