Named after R.W. SAMPSON who was responsible for most of the architectural layout of early 20th century Sidmouth, Sampson cottage was a former store and stables. The vaulted ceilings in the open plan living areas with the original steel beam help to form this dog-friendly modern, bright and stylishly furnished cottage.

We had a lovely Easter weekend. The cottage was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. There was a parking space next to the cottage. We appreciated the Easter welcome gift including the dog treats. Chris and Ellen were excellent hosts.

We spent 5 nights at Sampson Cottage which went beyond our expectations.
The cottage is extremely well equipped, clean and very comfortable. Having spent many years visiting a friend living in Sidmouth, staying in many varied hotel and and visitor accommodation; Bulverton House is best accommodation we ever found and we’ll certainly be back on return journeys.
Congratulations to Chris & Ellen for providing such excellent accommodation.

We had an excellent short stay at Sampson Cottage last week. Chris and Ellen were brilliant hosts and the cottage was very well appointed (much better than other holiday cottages we have stayed in) this made for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
All the personalised touches and thoughtful welcome gift were much appreciated.
Having an electric car charging point on site was also a very welcome bonus.

Another very nice stay at Bulverton House. Quiet location with all mod cons beautifully clean and well kept accommodation with a warm and friendly greeting. The homemade scones and other locally produced goodies were delicious, a real treat. We will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you.

Sampson was extremely comfortable and well equipped. Easy parking and a very pleasant private sitting out area.
Our hosts were lovely and we much appreciated the bottle of prosecco and bicuits to mark that we were their 100th booking!

We’ve just returned from a stay at Samson Cottage at Bulverton House and cannot recommend it enough.

The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and nicely decorated. It was also very clean and with lovely beds and a nice large settee.

There’s ample parking and it’s a 25 minute walk into town.

We will definitely return and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Ellen and Chris were very welcoming, the accommodation was spotless and the cleanest we've ever stayed at. It was a superb location within easy walking distance of Sidmouth town centre. From the point of booking until we completed our holiday everything was perfect.
Chris and Ellen are responsive and provided clear instructions for our arrival and departure.
The home is very comfortable and relaxing with a mixture of modern and some retained original features giving it character but also functionality.
Chris and Ellen were both very personable and helpful, there if you needed them. They had kindly left a cream tea and a bottle of wine for us to enjoy after our journey down.
Perfect holiday home, very comfortable furnishings, beds were perfect too. Bathroom and kitchen both a lovely size too.
Easy to get into Sidmouth and easy to travel to other parts of Devon and also Dorset. Sidmouth has all you need too.

Just came back from a lovely stay in this 5 star cottage in Sidmouth. Chris and Ellen made us feel very welcome with homemade fresh cream scones on arrival and a bottle of wine. Our 2 Shih Tzus were also made to feel at home with a cozy bed and some doggy treats. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need. Beds are very comfortable and there is also a pretty eclosed private garden.
Thankyou Chris and Ellen for a lovely holiday, we will be back.

Sampson is a unique spacious cottage in a peaceful location with easy access to the town and surrounding areas.
Fitted out to a high standard with every need catered for; this was our 4th stay and we loved it and hope to return frequently.

Chris and Ellen are very welcoming and add to the relaxed atmosphere in a friendly relaxing manner.

Great parking, lovely gardens and outside space.

Sampson is a super cottage to use as a base to enjoy the local area or stay and just relax in front of the fire or outside on the lovely patio. The cottage has everything you could possibly need with extremely comfortable beds and sofa, a huge bath and very well equipped kitchen. Chris and Ellen have thought of everything and provide some lovely additional touches. They are fabulous hosts, thoughtful and helpful who nothing is too much for.

Excellently presented property, ideally located on the outskirts of Sidmouth......

We stayed for a week early April, my wife, young children (8 and 3) and myself. A very warm welcome on arrival with a thoughtful gift package of freshly baked scones, wine, fruit and more. The hosts were always on hand if anything was needed and no request was too much.

The property is spotless, well furnished, warm and cosy for spring.....but also a nice private outside seating area for warmer days. All the essentials there and more for self catering.

Would recommend and hope to return in the future.

We have just returned from a stay in Sampson cottage and it was excellent. The cottage is stylish with quality furnishings and fittings throughout. Everything was spotlessly clean, the beds are so comfortable with luxury bedding and everything has been thought of to provide a truly enjoyable break. Ellen and Chris offer a warm and friendly welcome and provide lots of local information. We could find no fault with our stay and will certainly return.
