Rose Cottage is the perfect luxury holiday cottage for family or friends, sleeping up to 4 people. Located in the North Lakes, in the quieter Northern Fells, this cottage is perfect for a break away from it all.

The cottage stands on the edge of the quiet village of Hesket Newmarket, with views over the village green and pond, with extended views towards High Pike and Carrock Fell. We are also Dog Friendly and even Cat or Rabbit!

Dating back to 1770, this fabulous holiday cottage has been restored to a very high standard, yet retained many of its original features. The cottage provides all the modern convenience you expect yet with a rustic charm of former times. The renowned Old Crown pub serving its award winning ales brewed on the premises and fantastic home cooked food is a short walk, as is the well stocked village shop and off-licence.

Rose Cottage is as lovely as it has always been. Warm and cosy in winter, with excellent heating and a lovely stove in the lounge. To have logs provided is a real bonus. We have loved staying here over the years with various dogs and would recommend it to anyone looking for a super retreat a little away from the crowds (but still close enough to everywhere).

A luxurious cottage, with an eye for detail in every room. The beds were so comfortable, it was hard to wake up! The cottage was always warm , with underfloor heating in the kitchen and a woodburner with ample logs to use.
The bathroom had a great shower and a lovely large bath.
Kitchen had every utensil you would ever need and the welcome hamper of local products was much appreciated.
Rose cottage is situated in an ideal location for exploring the northern fells and the village has a fantastic pub and brewery as well as a village shop.
Mitsie, our cat, loved staying here, sitting in the deep windowsills looking out at the birds.
Would definitely recommend staying here and we have booked another week later this year.

Rose cottage offers everything you could wish for, and then that bit more. Cosy, warm and comfortable, with a wonderful welcome pack. The village shop and pub are also very welcoming, with fabulous food and local beer served just a short stroll away. There are plenty of walking trails from the cottage, or obviously you can go further afield to places like Keswick and Buttermere. We also visited the coast at Allonby.

Thank you to Mandy and David for all the attention to detail, which made our stay fantastic. We would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a beautiful break in the Lakes. We will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful stay at Rose Cottage over Christmas with my partner and his mum. The cottage was incredibly comfortable with lots of space for 2-4 people, and it truly felt like a home away from home. The Christmas decorations made it extra special, and the wood burner kept everything beautifully cosy.

We did have an issue with the boiler at the start of the week but David (owner) handled it well and arranged for an emergency plumber to come out and resolve it quickly, which we really appreciated.

We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and will definitely be coming back! Thank you so much!

We had an excellent stay, ideal location, quiet, very close to the pub and shops and the cottage had everything that you needed. The local produce left for us on arrival was also great. Lots of lovely walks from the door for the dog too.

We arrived in Hesket Newmarket at the start of Storm Amy. Rose Cottage was very welcoming in such awful weather. We felt relaxed and at home straight away. Having the log fire was a delight during the storm. The cottage is clean and well equipped with all that you need. The outside space looked amazing and we look forward to sitting out there if we return in better weather. The welcome pack was much appreciated. We have stayed in the village before in a different cottage but will definitely use Rose Cottage when we return.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. Perfect location for visiting the northern Lake District area. Loved seeing the cows go past twice a day! The cottage is well equipped and there is a plentiful supply of logs for the log burner. The jacuzzi bath is excellent after a hard day's walking!

Rose cottage was a beautifully appointed and immaculate characterful cottage in lovely, peaceful surroundings. The lounge was cozy and inviting, the kitchen was well equipped and beautifully designed and the bedrooms were very spacious with large comfy beds. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was a lovely, pleasant lady who went above and beyond and helped us when we lost the key and couldn't locate our cat. I would highly recommend a stay in this enchanting cottage.

A great characterful Cottage in a fantastic part of the Northern Lakes.
This is the second time we have stayed at this property and we had a great time.
Plenty of walking straight from the door to keep the pooch happy, and loads of great on/off road cycle routes too.
The cottage is well equipped and clean. The large dog friendly garden is very welcome.
On our arrival we were greeted by a well stocked welcome basket. The local produce was appreciated.
All in all would highly recommend.

An idyllic cottage in a wonderful village setting. It did not feel like a rental property because of the personal touches - eg beautiful curtains, and quality cookware. The jacuzzi was a welcome bonus!

Lovely cottage in a charming village where cows walk past the front door
The well-maintained garden is full of flowers and fruit ready to pick — we enjoyed delicious raspberries and red currants.
All in all, highly recommended.
