Short break with the kids in a bell tent. Location is fab but a shame the facilities are not fully operational. Specifically the cafe and the pool (despite asking and being told it was open). Made the most of it because it’s beautiful.

The property was lovely. The tent was really clean and comfortable. I was honestly surprised with how comfortable the bed was. I didn't realize they were providing a towel and a hot water bottle so that was a nice touch. It was lovely to have use of the gas BBQ and the fire pit. The communal kitchen area could have used a little work but grateful for the space. It would have been nice if a bit more guidance was provided - i.e. dishes here - cups here - utensils in separated drawers. There were no tea towels on the second day so not really sure how to dry things. These are minor things. The bathroom block was fantastic - the nicest one I've seen. Some issues with the kitchen as well as the chef left unexpectedly but the dinner we did have was fantastic. I would like to come back but try a cabin. Oh - I also wish that there had been a few more chairs by the pool for parents to sit while the kids swam in the "chilly" pool. Wet suit highly recommended for the kids.

We had a girls weekend away from the hustle and bustle of life, and it provided just that. It was fabulous! So much space to walk around, the best natural swimming pool I have ever been in, and we even swam in the river too! Great diy cooking facility's with a couple of BBQs, a single electric hob, although it would be better with 2, plenty of table and chairs in the kitchen areas too.
The only down side is no seating outside the bell tents which for glamping I feel is a must, and also a trolly to carry your bags would be good too.
The bathroom facility's were beautiful and very clean, and would have been nice to of enjoyed a shower too, but it seems there is only so much hot water before it runs out - need to get up earlier! Lol
I would definitely recommend, and can't wait to go back.

Unfortunately this let's you down, we found the head chef to be rude - no smile, and a look that made you feel uncomfortable. The food although nice was lacking in choice for a vegan/ plant based especially as that is a big thing on your website, and the price for what I had, the Asparagus, I felt was way too expensive. Would I eat in there again, probably not as it stands at the moment.

West Lexham was beautiful as usual and the children enjoyed the grounds and badminton.
It was colder than expected for this time of year which meant the tent was cold and damp and we couldn’t make full use of the facilities (swimming pool).
It would be good if more/thicker covers were supplied…even better would be electric points at the tents.
An indoor area/cover would also be beneficial with better kitchen facilities as the on-site restaurant is only sometimes open and quite expensive (and not as welcoming as it has previously been).
All in all a great stay though and would recommend people to visit.

I am not much of a camper or glamper but I could be easily converted.
What an amazing space with so much to offer, set in beautiful surroundings there is something for everyone and was just perfect for our mini getaway.
The row boats and paddle boards were a hit, as was the swimming pool.
The garden kitchen was well equipped and the kitchen garden cafe served beautifully prepared food.
The grounds are beautiful to explore and the sanctuary area was perfect for taking a moment to sit and reflect.
I can’t wait to go back and would definitely like to experience a yoga retreat.

Thank you so much for our wonderful 2 nights. We were blown away by the grounds, especially loving the pool and being able to use the boats and paddle boards on the river. The grounds are beautiful - we loved this place. The riverside bell tent was very comfy, but dark as under the trees. The limited opening hours and menu in the cafe meant we didn’t use this facility but cooked for ourselves on the barbecues provided.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, we were 2 adults with 2 teenagers and the bell tent was spacious enough and comfortable, however it was quite odd that having the capacity for 4/5 people only 3 beds are provided and that £50 is charged for a forth bed……? No explanation is given for this and as the accommodations are already quite expensive it seemed unnecessary and unfair.
The lake and grounds of the estate are truly beautiful and provide a very tranquil and relaxing environment, with the added touch of a couple of little rowing boats at your disposal. The bathroom block/facilities were probably some of the best I have experienced, each one individual in style, large spacious with fantastic hot water and pressure and always clean with loo roll! We were lucky to experience fantastic sunny weather so having the outdoor swimming pool was another bonus, and the setting of the pool is beautiful, and quite obviously popular so it was a bit busy at times. Our only real negative is the outdoor kitchen set up is completely inadequate and a health risk! For the amount of people sharing there is only One sink (which was not clean) one washing up bowl, no clean washing up utensils or drying rack so everything just gets piled up and left, therefore you didn’t feel inclined to want to use the cutlery and crockery provided, one kettle and one induction hob and only 2 gas bbqs, disappointing as we always cook for ourselves, therefore had to buy some food from the Cafe. The food available was ok, not much of a selection and a bit slow as it seemed priority was given to serving the Retreat groups that were staying.

We spent 4 nights in the river side tent.
I would stay again, the site is truly beautiful and the staff are all wonderful. The pool is amazing.
The bath rooms are great, although they’re shared, they’re private and nice once inside.

The food onsite was delicious and they catered for a number of intolerances without fuss.
Two of our dinners were generously sized, once we were honestly left abit hungry. But we are used to eating larger portions.

My only grievance, if you can call it one. The bed was slightly over sized for the frame and made one side of it slopped. And if you’re 6ft plus the beds are small.

The tents would benefit from having a power plug and maybe a fire, as some nights were very cold, even mid sept.

These truly are splitting hairs, we had a wonderful stay & there are some lovely towns and places to visit by car.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The site itself is beautifully laid out, decent washing facilities and the onsite restaurant is wonderful, serving delicious well priced food at all times (when open).

The tent itself was spacious, comfortable and well furnished.

In terms of value for money, the price of the stay seemed a bit much. I appreciate school holiday prices and all that... but still it seemed a bit much for what you get (though others my disagree and find it excellent value).

We spent a fantastic 2 nights in the Riverside Bell Tent. Our girls loved the experience of sleeping in the tent, toasting marshmallows, playing in the boats and exploring the beautiful grounds. The crowning glory though was the restaurant. The vegetarian/vegan food served was spectacular (my wife and I are not vegan or vegetarian usually), the staff were welcoming and helpful and everything on the menu was very reasonably priced.

This said, some improvements are needed to justify the price tag. There was a strong smell of sewage/stagnant water on site which seemed to come from the small stream. This may have been linked to site drainage in general, as most of the showers did not drain away and the bathrooms quickly became flooded.

Some sort of deck is needed outside the Riverside Bell Tent as it is situated under trees and therefore got very muddy just outside the door.

On arrival we were informed that no workshops were running and that the pool was not operational. As far as we were concerned, these were two of West Lexham’s USPs and it was a shame they could not deliver.

On balance, this review sounds more negative than positive - this was certainly not the case. We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at West Lexham and would go back in the future, but some improvements are needed.

After lock down and the feel and need of a real escape this place hit the nail on the head. Was the perfect little break for my husband and a little dog. Will definitely love to return.

My brother and I had a fun time staying in the bell tent. It was quite wet when we arrived but we still had a good time although it was very cold on the last night. The chest of drawers was a bit broken but everything else worked fine. We loved the tennis court too.

We loved our stay at West Lexham. The campsite was quite simply the prettiest one we've ever stayed at. My husband and children were in and out of the river/lake on a daily basis and it was a stunning location. We loved the lawn in front of the big house. We would definitely recommend it. People were really friendly in the shared kitchen and the shared table size was fantastic! Fire put lovely and toilet block/hot showers and bath facility also very impressive.

I took my fourteen-year-old daughter for a two day break at West Lexham and couldn't have been more delighted by the beautiful environment or the facilities. We stayed in a bell tent which was really comfortable and easy, within a few feet of the wonderful river where we swam and rowed and within easy reach of the luxury hot showers - a massive bonus after swimming. The big open well-equipped kitchen made cooking for ourselves a pleasure and the atmosphere was nicely friendly and relaxed. The grounds are beautiful and great to roam about in, and the staff are really helpful. We booked to go back again almost as soon as we got home.

We had a wonderful time at West Lexham. The tents are very confortable and provided with towels and warm duvets. An extra touch of hot water bottles is a nice surprise. We also enjoyed sharing the garden kitchen all families staying all site were lovely to chat to and everyone cared about the space. The only thing we found challeging is that if the weather is wet there isnt a space/place for us to dry the towels and swimming suits. The site, gardens and the lake is beautiful and well maintained. It is a lovely place to relax and enjoy nature.

We had a great time and would love to return. We thought perhaps a drying room/ or just a tumble dryer could be provided so we can freshen up the towels and wet clothes as british weather is quite wet and doenst give the oppeotunity to dry clothes and towels.
