Trip was tainted by a number of irritating add ons and requirements. Took the gloss off a potentiallly lovely stay.

A poor welcome to a lovely part of Ireland

£100 security deposit on arrival
Charge for towels
Meter reading

Need Strip beds and deliver to reception
Need to deliver rubbish

Not sufficient utensils in house
No cleaning supplies in house

Would prefer to pay slight premium to have included

Good afternoon Brian Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Dunkerron Woods. I have looked into the issues raised above. I can confirm at the time of your enquiry you were notified of all extra charges and this was noted at the time of booking,at final payment and on all correspondents that were sent to you via Relax Ireland all extra charges are clearly stated in the emails. Most self catering homes ask guests to strip beds and ensure the rubbish is removed from the property before departure. Your request for two cots was met even though this is not common practice as the extra cot was available we were happy to provide this for you. Cleaning supplies are not provided in most self catering holiday homes. The caretakers of the property have informed me that there are utensils for up to 14 people in these houses. I last stayed in Hookless 15 years ago when the kids were small, when there was a swimming pool and bar/restaurant on site. Neither are now in operation, which is a shame. We were fortunate when we stayed last week to have great weather so spent all our time on the beach. However 15 years ago when we stayed, the weather was typically Irish, and the swimming pool was a fantastic amenity for the kids. The bar/restaurant was also a great amenity, being handy for a drink and bite to eat in the evenings (the food was really good). So bring back the pool and the bar!!

One small gripe....there was no corkscrew in the house so we had to buy one!!

Overall Hookless is in a great location for beaches. The local scenery is beautiful. The houses are well maintained, clean and spacious. Hookless is pet friendly, so the pooch could come with us.
The nearby village of Fethard is small so dine out options are limited.
I recommend the cliff walk from Slade pier to Hook Lighthouse.

Good afternoon Elaine Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Hookless Holiday Homes. The swimming pool would be a big bonus if it was in operation. The houses are clean, spacious and well maintained. Being able to bring your pet is great as a lot of people like to do this. We are given details about the house by the owners that we have to make the customer aware of. On arrival if they choose not to follow these extras that is completely up to the management onsite but we need to make our customers aware of any extra charges they may incur upon arrival, at the time of booking. Beautiful Development. Our house was beautifully located with splendid sea views. The house, bedrooms, linen, towels, etc. were pristine and everything worked. The development was safe and ideal for families with young children. The organised activities for the children at and away from Hookless were well organised and entertaining. The staff were friendly, helpful and excellent overall. Would definitely return and strongly recommend as family holiday destination.

Myself and my two teenage children had stayed at Dunkerron Woods before and enjoyed this visit as much as previous stays. The house was very comfortable and is in a lovely location being so close to Kenmare. I was able to bring my small dog and he loved his walks around the area and down to the sea for a swim.

The staff were very helpful and I would certainly visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay, house was very nice and very comfortable.
Estate nice and quite, but little for young children to do. Small playground would make it perfect.
Elec Shower didn't unfortunately.

But we really enjoyed our stay.

It was a lovely estate and fine big spacious houses.It would be nice to have a playground in the estate for the children to play.
It would be great to have towels supplied without having to pay per set.A scissors would be handy in the kitchens also a clothes horse as were our clothes line was situated didnt get any sun.A few pegs for the line be handy to save using dryer.
10am is very early to have to vacate by the time you get breakfast and strip the beds, bring out bins etc.
I Hope this is helpful to improve your service.

Great location!.... Perfect base for travelling the ring of Kerry. Spacious, clean, has everything you would need.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dunkerron woods. A highlight for us was our daily walks to the beach and back. More of these walks right from the house would be great! We found the house to be in a very peaceful location with lots of activities for children within driving distances. The house itself was comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was reasonably well appointed. I found the booking of the house very easy and email responses to my queries were prompt and very helpful.

Excellent house we had great weather used the barbeque very easy nearest shop to left of gate Pete was on the ball and had a few hi cups sorted very fast well done will be back would love a garden table on decking
