Beautiful straw house in a beautiful surrounding. Our dog loved it walks are amazing. Spent Christmas week here would highly recommended it. The owners are lovely very helpfully. It is a working farm and if you ask the owners you can look around the farm. Would love to visit. Again.
The House is very clean and great equipped, except for a stove there is everything you need to feel comfortable. The Landlords are very nice. I highly recommend this property.
Everything at The Old Workshop was as described. We used it as a bolthole when helping our son to move house and it was a perfect haven of calm. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and provided some extra little touches that were much appreciated. Located in a pretty little village with a pub open walking distance. We would definitely use again.
Jubilee House is a great place to stay as it is so handy to shops and theatre and surrounding attractions in West Sussex. I recommend it highly.
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
We had a delightful 4-night stay at Daisy Byre. Very comfortable cottage, clean and modern, with everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing break. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and were made to feel at home right from the start. Lovely hospitality by all, including the staff working on the adjacent farm. The complimentary passes to the farm were a bonus (as was a delightful evening in the theatre located on the farm watching a production of 'The Wind in the Willows'). A thoroughly enjoyable stay. The village of Wisborough Green and the surrounding West Sussex area has ...more
We can honestly say that the cottage was the most perfect one that we have ever stayed in. Louise and James had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable and welcoming.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, we found the accommodation very comfortable and had everything we needed and also exceptionally clean. It is in a good location and there are plenty of Places of Interest nearby to visit.
Little Marshfoot is comfortable, cosy, very well equipped and ideally located for exploring the surrounding area. Pat was a friendly host who made us feel very welcome, suggesting attractions we might enjoy visiting nearby and recommending places to eat. Little Marshfoot is beautifully decorated and the little extra touches such as the fresh flowers and wine made this place even more special. We had a very relaxing break and hope we can return in the future.
The cottage was a complete joy, Penny had provided every essential plus some luxuries. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside but the garden was full of spring flowers with table and chairs for sunny days. We had a wonderful 5 night break and will certainly be returning when possible!
Warm welcome on arrival with fresh homemade cakes on the table in the kitchen. The owners and staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. Plenty to do and see and well located for visits out. I definitely want to go back it’s such a good place to be. Many thanks to Mandy persuading me to see the animals even though I had my dog with me, just loved it. Thank you everyone.
We cannot recommend this place enough. Brilliant accomodation, thoughtful touches & friendly owner .
The house was perfect for our family of four, with two children under 5. Spacious, well equipped and - in February - nice and warm. All modern conveniences available. Very scenic views and walks available from the front door. Also very well positioned to explore the South Downs Park, including several trips to the seaside. Would certainly recommend to others and we may even return ourselves.
We enjoyed our week at Eve's cottage very much. The cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped and in a very convenient position for exploring Arundel. Ian, the owner, was most helpful.
We enjoyed a lovely few days at Byne Cottage. The cottage is gorgeous with amazing views across the farm and beyond. John our host checked in on us by phone to ensure we knew he was there if we needed anything, but we didn't. Spacious and a lot of downstairs open plan which is great when you are a family and don't want to miss what is going on when you are chief cook!!! The cottage was spotless on arrival with extra little bits you might not expect. Would definitely recommend this cottage. We plan to go back in better weather to enjoy the outside too!
Clean, well appointed and comfortable with many thoughtful extras including basic groceries, ice, toiletries and an awesome tv with movies included. We had a lovely chilled out stay- many thanks to Ann the owner who was both friendly and entirely unobtrusive.
Beautiful location and property. 20 minute walk through peaceful countryside to reach the Griffin pub..really good pint of Sussex ale. The owners were very welcoming and helpful and gave us some good pointers. We went to Burling Gap on their recommendation and as a family who aren’t keen on crowds, really enjoyed this part of the coast. My family and i found this property very relaxing to stay in and would definitely stay again.
The reading rooms combined history with comfort & modern facilities. The rooms are an excellent size. Wisborough Green is a lovely village with all you need on your doorstop (church, pub, shop, tea rooms). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again.
This is a lovely cottage. Much thought has gone into making a newish build look 300years old. Clever quirky bits inside and out, even in the brickwork. It showed the thoughtfulness of the owners even as they were renovating. There are mod cons where you want them in the kitchen and bathroom, but they were tastefully done to fit the building. Beds were very comfortable. Heather was very friendly and attentive to our needs even though Roger was very ill. The courtyard planting encouraged butterflies. There were wrens just outside the window, and a cleverly placed mirror meant I coul...more
We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend staying in this beautiful spot next to the Downs. The cottage is very well kept, with everything you need for a stay much longer than ours! We particularly enjoyed having a fire and underfloor heating - very cosy. Would definitely recommend.
We had a lovely few days at The Barn. The house is finished to a very high standard and was impeccably well appointed for our visit. The views from the sitting room and master bedroom are wonderful and despite Storm Dennis trying to ruin our stay we had a super time in warmth and comfort. Great local amenities and attractions to keep the family entertained. Highly recommend a stay here.
Warm and welcoming, it’s the little touches that make all the difference. Homemade cakes on arrival a winner. Earbuds and cotton wool in the bathroom, a bonus. So spacious, clean, warm and comfortable. Beds you sink into after watching the big screen tv, DVD’s to choose from or playing the board games on offer. Everything has been thought of. Karen and Cliff fantastic hosts! Thankyou both for a most definite 12 out of 10. X
Very comfortable cottage in ideal position for exploring/walking in South Downs. Warm welcome from lovely, helpful owners. Hours of walking each way from Ditchling Beacon right on the doorstep & also from car park at Devil's Dyke (good food at pub). Close to plenty of National Trust properties & other gardens & plenty of beautiful villages to explore on route. 2 good pubs in the village for meals & welcome drinks by an open fire. Cottage is fully & tastefully kitted out plus lots of reading matter - much appreciated when got too wild to walk! We/family will stay again.
Great little property that was not very little. Whilst only set up for two, with just the one bedroom, there was plenty of room for us and it felt almost spacious. Very tastefully fitted out with decent quality furniture and an excellent bed. Pippa was a delightful host and made us very welcome. Location good in a lovely part of the country. We had a great week.
Staying at The Old Granary was truly a wonderful experience! My teenage children loved it, especially the huge projector screen and luxurious bathrooms. My 84 year old mother had a whole ground floor suite for herself, and was VERY reluctant to leave! I enjoyed absolutely everything about it......amazing beds, beautiful location, very well equipped kitchen....a huge place, yet it felt very cosy! Grail and Nick came to welcome us, and offered us their help if we needed anything. I most definitely recommend The Old Granary, by far the best place I have ever booked in the UK.
This was our second visit to the cottage. It’s a charming place in beautiful surroundings and the hosts are lovely.
We loved our stay in Longwall House at the weekend. It's a cosy house in a great location with stylish features and all mod cons and we were extremely comfortable there; it also had lots of considerate additions and helpful notes from Nick the owner. Please pass on our compliments.
ideal location with great views - warm and welcoming cottage that was well supplied with all our needs
This is a superbly comfortable, attractive, and well-equipped place to stay, with a smart kitchen area and a very comfortable big bed. It's quiet, private, self-contained, but with a generous and thoughtful owner close by. Within a few minute's walk you can be climbing the beautiful slope of the Downs to Kithurst or Chantry Hill, and yet you also have good food shops and services within easy reach. That's a rare and luxurious combination.
Lovely neat comfortable cottage. Adjacent owners helpful but not obtrusive. A quiet hideaway location with great walks from the door. No local facilities, but walk to pub across fields possible.
An excellent barn conversion with stunning views over the countryside. Really comfortable, cosy cottage with everything you could need and furnished to a very high standard. Owners Carol & Peter provide a warm welcome and are very helpful. As birdwatchers we loved it, we seemed to see more wildlife from the cottage than we did at the nearby RSPB reserve. Location is great with lots to do nearby both in good and bad weather. Lovely village setting with a good local shop, tearooms and pub. Will definitely be returning.
Our week's stay at The Woodland Cottage was curtailed by having to return home after 3 days due to the coronavirus outbreak - we did not have any symptoms but thought it more sensible to be at home during the difficult time. Mr & Mrs Burley were excellent hosts and provided an extremely well-appointed cottage which we thoroughly enjoyed - warm, comfortable and surrounded by lovely woodland and exciting wildlife. We were very sad to leave but would very much like to return, as we feel we have unfinished business with both the cottage and the nearby coast and downland.
A fine place to stay with very supportive owners. Slight drawback of poor mobile signal and variable broadband. Lots to see and do in the area and good nearby eateries.
This is our second stay at the Stables. Everything was excellent except the weather! Vyvyian on hand if you have any queries or problems, which we didn’t. Highly recommended.
The cottage is in an amazing location with such a spectacular view from the living room couch! The property had everything we needed for a short stay and was very clean and well laid-out. The owner was super friendly and helpful and made sure we felt at home in the cottage. Even though the cottage is in the middle of beautiful countryside with incredible views, it is still easy to access with it only being a couple of miles up wide country lanes from the A27. Arundel is a short drive away and has plenty to see and do, including Arundel cathedral and castle which I would highly recommend visiti...more
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
We stayed at Rosemead cottage over Christmas. It was perfect for our needs with a lovely garden and cosy sitting room. The owners are really friendly and helpful and the house extremely well equipped with everything that was needed to cook a Christmas dinner for 6. We would definitely stay there again.
Once again a fantastic stay at Oak Grove - highly recommended. A real home from home in a great location.
We loved almost everything about our Christmas stay at this beautiful lodge. It was the cleanest we think we have ever stayed in, there are some beautiful touches that make you feel very comfortable and we would highly recommend. (These two very small things should be known to future bookers - consider carefully if you need reliable WiFi (we had to reboot the router regularly and couldn’t get WiFi downstairs in the bedrooms) and be aware that the owner is overlooking you (mainly in the main bedroom and the lounge) as the property is attached to the main house through quite a thin connecting do...more
We really enjoyed our stay in The Lakehouse. We liked the stylish decoration and the comfort of the property, which gave us plenty of space to relax. The views are wonderful as the lake itself is picturesque and has tasteful artworks, and beyond the lake are just fields and woods. At night the view from the large patio doors is just wonderfully dark, as you cannot see any lights from anywhere. This is such a treat for city-dwellers. The owners are extremely hospitable and friendly, they provided all sorts of lovely welcome items, and were just next-door if we needed them for anything. The...more
An excellent property, in a great central location within the ancient citadel. Very clean and well furnished.
A lovely house close to Rye. Very comfortable and lots to do in the town. Nice touches from the owners.
This apartment was great for 2 people. Plenty of space and good facilities. It was nice to have your own car parking space.
Cleanest cottage we have visited, very comfortable. Ideally situated for our purposes. You do need a car.
Very well-presented warm cottage for two, close to Petworth House and town shops. Lots of thoughtful extras, well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. Recommended for all, although some steep steps wouldn't suit those with significant mobility issues.
It was a real pleasure coming back to the cottage each day while exploring Sussex. Our 16-month daughter loved the walled garden and was fascinated by all the art. It was great being able to borrow a high chair as well. We hope to come back again next year.
Excellent property run by very helpful and thoughtful family - thanks for the Lemon cake! Great location to explore West Sussex, with an abundance of nearby vineyards, quality pubs and historic towns all on walking routes.
This was a repeat visit by popular request from all the family. It was excellent again. A very good, quiet location with helpful hosts. Very close to Petworth shops, restaurants, pubs etc. Petworth House and Park are just across the road with extensive walks.
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
Spacious and beautiful house, great views, secluded, but close to South Downs Way and local villages.
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
Super clean. Very comfy beds. Brilliant location, right in the centre. Lots of character and well decorated. Kitchen well stocked with equipment. Very fluffy towels provided. Comfy beds. Would stay again.
We stayed at Fig Tree Cottage to celebrate Christmas with our son and his family who live in Sussex. The facilities and equipment in the cottage were excellent enabling us to cook Chrismas Dinner for 7 with ease. There is a quirky side to the cottage but this added to its charm. James the owner could not have been more helpful providing more cultery and offering additional chairs when he realised the number of people we were catering for. We will definitely be back.
This converted garage has everything two people may ask for: it is quiet, spacious and sparkling clean. The owners are delightfully friendly and helpful. It has a kitchenette with two bar stools - while we did not use it, it is equipped for i.e. breakfast or simple cooking. Good bed, though not too large. The bathroom is somewhat on the small side and there is not much space for your cosmetics, no shelves apart from the mirror's. Decent towels. However, the shower is large. No bathtub. WIFI is stable and fast enough. There is a sofa and a large enough TV, but we did not use these.
Ideal quiet cottage with lovely furnishings, gorgeous garden, french windows, glassed in roof just as in web pic. Wi fi available, small TV, lovely bedroom and flowers arranged beautifully for you, with welcome cake and fruit. Book lover's paradise, books for every taste. Helpful and friendly hosts but may be selling so check you get Liz and Chris! Own parking, very relaxing place to stay.
we had a lovely week staying in Lambles it has everything you could need for a comfortable holiday with lots of thoughtful extras. Very warm & bed very comfortable.Very private & in a lovely quiet area of Seaford.
I’ve had the delight of staying at Candle Cottage for a good 4 weeks, and I have loved it. It has everything I need, it’s very very clean and very spacious The position is fabulous right amongst the hills of the beautiful South Downs, with a walk right outside the front door, leading within minutes to stunning views Within walking distance of The George Pub which serves great food, I really couldn’t ask for more .
As we stay at Croft Cottage every year, it follows that we're happy with the property and I'd only be repeating previous reviews! There isn't really anything major to complain about. Everything you need is there, and it's warm and cosy in the winter months. The owner, Jenny, is only an email away if there's a problem. We noticed that some have complained/suggested re WiFi (or lack of it). But our mobile data (on EE) works fine, with a good signal, so no problem. I suppose it depends how important free internet is to you...
There is not one thing we can say was missing, apart from a potato masher, but we adapted, and we didn't have snow, but we can't hold you responsible for that! We have stayed in many self catering cottages in Rye over the past 9 years or so but this has been the best. We have never left a review before as there have been issues of one sort or another but Tail End Cottage is in a league of its own. We even met Reg. Thank you Dill for letting us stay.
Mallards is an excellent cottage, comfortable and with a wonderful hostess. Beautiful surroundings. Highly recommended.
We were here for the second time and again we were not disappointed. Beautiful, well equipped home. Great walking opportunities and close to Hastings, Rye and Winchelsea. Very helpful and friendly owner next door.
The Apartment was exactly as described on website and supplied details/ photographs. Close to the station.
Yet another very enjoyable stay at Lazy Meadows. Wonderful location and comfortable house. Surprisingly peaceful spot
We love this place. It is an oasis of calm surrounded by the hurly-burly of the South-East, and this year more significant following Brexit and one of the worst autumn/winter periods; persistent rain since October had left the surrounding area under water for a number of months, and we could only just get through the flooded approach roads on our arrival. So it was not surprising that the property was not spick and span as it had been on our previous stay. The weather greatly cheered up for our stay, and we were able to go for walks in the Forest, and to a couple of quiet pubs for lunch and to...more
A lovely country cottage which has been tastefully extended and decorated. A very large kitchen with an Aga and equipped with all the necessary crockery, utensils, pots and pans. The dining area had a table and chairs for 4, together with a sofa and had large windows and double doors opening into the secluded garden. In a separate utility building in the garden was washing machine etc. The lounge at the front of the property had seating for 4, with a fire which we didn't use and TV. The signal wasn't always the best but not an issue for us as we're not great TV watchers. The very larg...more
Had a fantastic long weekend. Beautiful location with the countryside and amazing walks right on your doorstep. Ideal for those with dogs.
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
Our second time at this cottage which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will no doubt return at a future date
Beautifully furnished extremely comfortable and very well equipped cottage. Great location Highly recommend.
Well placed for visiting family. Comfortable place to stay Enjoyed the eggs for breakfast. Everything we needed
We have been coming to this cottage for the last 15 years and it is always a home from home to us . The owners are very warm and helpful and the welcome pack they provide when you arrive is outstanding and most appreciated. The cottage is well equipped should you need the washing machine, tumble drier etc and is ideally located for visits to Brighton , Arundel , Eastbourne and Hastings. Locally Lewes Town centre is worth a visit if you are interested in Antiques , collectables etc there is the Flea Market and a couple of Antique shops. Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
An excellent week at this lovely cottage. We used it as a base whilst walking the South Downs Way.Very peaceful and quiet and the owners were extremely helpful.
A pleasant cottage in a quiet location with good access to local attractions. Fabulous outlook from the cottage and we especially enjoyed the activities of the resident kingfishers. Owner very helpful. Would recommend.
Where to start with Priors Barn - probably one of the nicest, most peaceful stays we've had. The barn itself is tucked away down a winding country road within Maresfield and surrounded by huge conifers, which makes it all the more peaceful and tranquil. The amount of outside space is just right with a good sized gravel drive and an amazing decking area with a small stream running below. This was the perfect place to have a coffee/breakfast in the morning, or a BBQ in the evening. It has all the mod cons you could want, even down to an Amazon Alexa device, which was actually extremely han...more
We were made to feel really welcome, as we found wine chocolates, and apple juice waiting for us! Brian, and I had a lovely few days, that has stayed in my memory during these days of isolation! We hope that, one day, we may all three of us spend some time in that lovely bungalow!
Very comfortable bed and sofas. Everything you need provided in the kitchen. Excellent shower. In lovely setting.
My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Calceto. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and recommended some good local restaurants and pubs. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, quiet and well-equipped. It is also conveniently located, a short walk from Arundel station and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Arundel, which made it easy for us to explore the town. There are also some nice walks close by along the River Arun.
Gorgeous flat. Really clean and welcoming! Great location with sandy seafront park 5 minutes away and lovely sea front cafe 15 minutes away. Great communication from the owner. Flexible and friendly. Will recommend to my friends and family.. will also probably stay there again in the future! Thank you :)
We highly recommend staying at Lychgate Cottage. We were there over Christmas and the owners had done everything possible to make the cottage festive - lights and decorations, even Christmas presents! The cottage was warm, cosy and very comfortable, especially the pillows and duvet. Lots of extras were provided - many more than usual in our experience. And the location was perfect - we enjoyed the church bells on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Lovely cottage in a quiet, rural location. Everything was pristine and we were extremely comfortable to the extent we have already booked again! Warm and attentive welcome from the host but not at all intrusive during our stay: a perfect balance. A pleasure to watch the animals on the estate. An excellent property: highly recommended. Also beautiful hamper, a lovely Christmas treat, thank you!
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
Really enjoyed this lovely property which was central to all amenities. Could have done with some hand towels in the bathroom & one in the kitchen.
Great cottage that had everything we needed. Helpful owners who where there if we needed them but left us alone.
Roomy and comfortable property in a good location. Hosts very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
Great 5 days over Christmas. Lovely house, ideal for a family Christmas. Kitchen perfect for cooking lunch for 8. Owners helpful and friendly and house was prepared immaculately. Nice touch was Christmas tree decorated and in situ for our stay. Lots to do in area, good shops and easy access to seaside.
We have stayed here 8 times whilst visiting friends and family in Sussex and think of it as 'our cottage'! It is always very welcoming and in a lovely location. The only non positive I can think of is that the lane to it is quite a ride being very pot-holed but that wouldn't put us off staying again.
Happy Days at Brewery cottage.lovely to feel part of Arundel’s history in this wonderful cottage. To spend Christmas here was a real treat. Felt at home immediately in this cosy well located home. Thankyou.
Lovely house, everything we needed for a comfortable and practical base for the beach and exploring the areas attractions.
We had a wonderful stay at the Mouse house - it was very clean and comfortable with a welcoming atmosphere. We were glad of the peace and tranquility during our stay - that’s what we came for and we got exactly that. Lots to do in the area - we visited the RSPB nature reserve and Petworth house where we walked alongside the deer! Val is a lovely host and makes you feel very welcome - we will definitely book in for a long weekend again.
We reccomend this beautiful place in UK ! Very nice Place to spend holiday time and Ideal place for artist !
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
Stayed for 5 nights whilst visiting an elderly aunt to arrange a funeral. So good to get back each night and feel at home and relaxed and to be able to give her a change of scenery for a few hours. Hope to visit again under happier circumstances.
Lovely location within walking distance of everything in Arundel. The cottage was very well equipped and tastefully furnished. Beautiful views from the top bedroom. Parking tricky during the Festival, but we enjoyed joining in with lots of events.
Lovely place to stay very peaceful and perfect garden for our little dog. Owners very welcoming and helpful, good base for exploring the area from would definitely recommend.
Cottage small but perfectly adequate for a couple in a good location close to Chichester and Goodwood.
We have stayed in numerous cottages all over the UK and this one rates very highly indeed. It was exactly as described in the brochure, very comfortable and very clean. The owners were both welcoming and helpful. It proved to be an ideal centre for what we wanted with the bonus of having a good number of National Trust properties within striking distance. As an added bonus the village pub was good and served excellent meals
Lee Cottage is truly the most welcoming, spacious and well-equipped house you could ever wish to rent. Choosing a place to host Christmas for family and friends is a daunting experience, especially when planning a full Christmas dinner and trimmings in a kitchen that you don't know, but we actually flew through the process; finding everything we needed. Everyone that visited us at Lee Cottage, left saying it was the best Christmas they had ever had; actually laughing and crying with joy. The house made them feel cosy and loved; nobody actually wanted to leave. We would certainly recommend sta...more
We enjoyed our stay at Tarante. It is a comfortable and spacious flat with easy parking. Well placed for enjoying Arundel, and all the town offers. The owner was very helpful and considerate. We make regular family visits to this part is sussex and will be very happy to return to Tarante again.
We arrived a couple of days before the lockdown so not the best week. The cottage was perfect, away from everyone, walks from the door, nice garden to relax in. Weather was good so made the most of it. Cottage was warm and comfortable with everything we needed.
Great location.Close to places of interest. Owners of property very approachable.Helped us sort out a minor problem.
Very clean, comfortable and well-provisioned cottage in great location for Rye, Dungeness and Camber Sands itself. Quiet, though with easy access to a couple of shops and pubs.
Property is good for short term stay 2 - 4 days. Cooking facilities limited and suffered problems Fine if you are eating out in the evening Stairway access difficult if you have heavy luggage Fantastic gardens and view
We had a lovely time at this neat and tidy cottage. We had everything we needed - and more - and the house is great for a family of 5 like us. Perfect location, we hope to be back!
A spacious house with a very well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room. Loved the fire in the kitchen. It would be good to stay in better weather as the garden, with numerous sitting areas and bbq, would be well used. We intend to stay again.
We spent a very pleasant weekend in February in this lovely cottage The rooms were large and airy, and the bedrooms had lovely views . The heating was very efficient and the log burner was wonderful, with a large basket of Logs which was very welcome. One very small request would be that the shower cubicle should have a shelf to put shampoo etc on. We thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a quiet and peaceful break and hope to return ourselves .
A delightful homely cottage, clean, light and spacious and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this cottage which is ideally situated in the beautiful South Downs.
Really lovely, cosy cottage with a friendly and helpful owner. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended.
We all enjoyed our stay at River cottage the location was excellent to visit several National Trust gardens , it was also a very peaceful location with no passing traffic, the added bonus was the short walk to the river which was a wildlife haven we saw barn owls on several occasions flying early evening and late morning , two badgers and deer. The walk along the river was wonderful all you could see were meadows and the South Downs we would definitely return as the property had a nice atmosphere and was light and airy.
Wonderful in everyway. It is a beautiful location and cottage. Amazing,
Generally very clean and well presented, beds very comfortable, sofas not so much. Heating worked well when it was on, unfortunately arriving on a chilly October day to find out from the owner that the heating didn't come on until two hours after we arrived, so we entered the property which is quite cavernous and was quite chilly and was a bit disappointing, not very welcoming; it also unfortunately went off during the day, OK if your out but not so good if your in.The main entry door could do with some draft proofing However we enjoyed our stay and would probably return at some future date.
Enjoyed our family stay, grounds stunning and suitable for letting dogs explore the forest. House warm and welcoming with very comfy beds. Host greeted us on arrival which was a nice touch Thank you
A well kept cottage with all the amenities you could want. Very comfortable big bed with lovely linen and duvet. The welcome supplies were appreciated, especially the homemade biscuits. Lovely to have the open fire with plenty of logs provided. A pretty garden that would be great to sit out in the warmer months.Very helpful owner/housekeeper.
A very comfortable barn conversion in an excellent location for visiting places of interest around the Sussex Coast and South Downs
Two couples wanted to complete their walk of the South Downs Way from Amberley to Eastbourne, and the location of this cottage, a few minutes drive from the trail, and about the middle of the walk, was ideal. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, well-equipped and tidy, with everything we needed for our stay. In fact, there were quite a few "extras" which enhanced our stay. Not only a large and useful collection of books and maps of the local area, but thoughtful touches like the welcome pack of wine, coffee and biscuits to help us settle in. The village has decent shops and faciliti...more
Really lovely cottage. Owners provided great information on Rye & where to go, what to see as well as tea, coffee and welcome hamper.
We were given a very warm welcome from the owners of this lovely clean and cosy cottage. There are so many walks and places to visit that our only regret was not to be staying longer..
Very good overall but no storage space for food, cans ,cereal etc.Tea and coffee provided but would be nice if a pint of milk was in the fridge,
Lionel met us on arrival, told us what we needed to know and then left us to it. Perfect. The cottage is lovely and was really clean. There's plenty to do near by. We had a great time and would like to go back.
Lovely quiet location. Plenty of walking from the doorstep. Views of church and graveyard from the kitchen, very peaceful. Easy reach of Arundel and the seaside. Fabulous wood burner made for very cosy evenings. Cottage very well equipped. Loft room up steepish stairs but a beautiful airy and light room. Pillows very firm but really cosy bedding.
Harbinger's large, airy living space with its Eames armchairs, its B&O tv and beautifully designed log burner make relaxing, after enjoying the many delights of the South Downs, a real pleasure. The property is placed within easy reach of the many seaside resorts, not to mention Petworth, Arundel, Chichester, Goodwood etc. There is so much to see and do that I found that a week is no where near long enough to fully appreciate this astounding area.
This cottage is excellent. Everything spotless. Beautiful garden. Is in a lovely village. Would definitely recommend a break in this cottage.
We had the most delightful stay in Martins Cottage. Though quite small, it was extremely comfortable. Well equipped and everything of good quality. As a ‘senior couple’ we did find the shower handset slightly difficult to use. Rosemary, the owner, made us so welcome and offered much helpful information. Bury, is lovely little village, and is a really good center to explore the Downs, without having to travel far. The local pub, The Squire and Horse, served lovely meals. If we ever came to this area again we would definitely stay in this charming cottage.
A lovely setting in a working farm. Great walks for our dog, lots of fresh air, and, above all, peaceful. Only a short distance from the city and a host of shops and a wide variety of interesting places to visit. We fully intend to return one day soon.
A comfortable stay and met our needs .We were made to feel very welcome. Comfortable and clean bed ensured we had a good night's sleep
Quaint and pretty little cottage near all the amenities of Chichester. Nice and warm, despite bad weather. Comfortable beds, good wifi! Lovely owner and welcome pack much appreciated. Everything provided - toilet rolls, soap etc, kitchen cleaning stuff. Had a great time.
Excellent short stay accommodation, very hospitable friendly accommodating owners. Easy access to the property and well suited for travellers to the Sussex downs and the cities of Chichester and Guildford. Unpretentious but unique property of good value.
We had a very warm welcome from the owners of Roo Cottage and it is in a beautiful, quiet setting. The cottage had most things you would need, the kitchen was well equipped, the wi fi worked well and the bed was big and very comfortable. We found it an excellent base from which to explore. There are lots of stately homes, gardens, the seaside and pretty market towns near by. We enjoyed our stay very much!
There was nowhere to store food, other than the fridge, and a lack of cooking pots. However, we did enjoy our stay and will be happy to return.
Double bed uncomfortable and a spring poked through the mattress which could have caused injury. No facilities for drying washing indoors, only a rotary dryer behind garages enclosed by walls so little sunlight or breeze to dry washing. A clothes airer would have been most useful. Double room has no mirror or anywhere to sit to dry hair, apply makeup, etc. Twin room has no hanging space, our daughter had to share our wardrobe, which wasn’t ideal. Single room has no mirror for hairdrying etc, very important for a teenager. No shelf space in en-suite bathroom or in shower, which meant bending do...more
We had a great stay at Lavender cottage Alfriston. The cottage was warm and cosy on arrival. Full of character. The furniture is old but comfortable enough. Kitchen and bathrooms modern and clean. We had a problem with the upstairs shower , We informed the housekeeper and a plumber came out on A Sunday . Great service. We managed to find free parking locally , unloading was awkward , only because we had a great deal to unload with it being christmas . Although everything was good with the cottage we were disappointed with the lack of a christmas tree , or any christmas decorations . This is th...more
We thought the cottage was wonderful and being in walking distance to Arundel was great. I felt that the TV (for those rainy days) was a bit small for the size of the living room area. Otherwise it was great and the hospitality was superb.
We have stayed in many Amberley House cottages but this was very disappointing, it was expensive for what it was. The linen was unpleasant, the towels very meagre, the bed was uncomfortable and the sofa was also very uncomfortable. The place had not been used for awhile the heating was not on and we couldn’t make it work. The owner came by and sorted it but someone should have checked it before we got there. We worked it out that we could have stayed in a hotel and had breakfast cooked for us for less money, as well as taking our dogs. Storm Ciara was exciting and scary all at once and as...more
Regarding Rubbish Collection: Collection Days specified in the Information Compendium in the cottage were not the actual days the Rubbish Truck came. I had to depart leaving my rubbish in the bins. I apologise for any inconvenience for the cleaners. The week I stayed the weather was atrocious and I couldn’t find any information in the Compendium regarding finding a Laundry in the area to dry wet clothes. I am sure neither of these issues are a problem in summer and I imagine it is absolutely lovely staying in your beautiful cottage in fine weather! I hope you can use this information to yo...more
A well equipped and comfortable base in the heart of Hastings Old Town, this is a ground floor flat of a five storey town house, just yards from the house used in Foyle's War. There is a small terrace out front to enjoy a view over the Old Town and a courtyard out the back, dominated by the cliff edge but cosy nonetheless. There is no parking nearby, but you have to expect that in a tightly packed old town. Clothes in the cupboard became damp, perhaps difficult to avoid in a house tight up against a cliff. It's a bit confusing that the nameboard by the door (Garden Flat) is different from the ...more
A very short walk to the sea, fresh seafood, comfortable cottage - very cosy and sea-sidey. A very cosy and sea-sidey cottage only a few minutes stroll from the beach and seafood vendors. The accommodation was comfortable and clean. We were a party of three so had ample space, but I do not think it would be suitable for 6 adults (only 1 bathroom/toilet).
The cottage was clean, modern & mostly comfortable. Poor lighting in the living area especially nighttime. Bed in the main bedroom was so close to the floor difficult to get in & out of. If an elderly person had been staying they would have found it awkward. Needs new mattress. We felt the kitchen needed more equipment...cups, mugs, cutlery. If there had been more of us staying we would have run out of things after every meal. Good spot for visiting Lewes, coast, NT properties, Charleston & Monks House. There was road noise but as we had a fan going at night....it was warm...we didn't real...more
Very comfortable especially the huge bed. It was very nice to find the place lovely and warm when I arrived. Great place to stay if you don't have a car as big co-op couldn't be nearer and countryside walks on the doorstep. I did have a problem getting in and out of the rather steep sided bath as joints not what they were. My one criticism is that some of the cutlery and crockery needed washing before I could use them. Perhaps they could be checked between visitors? Otherwise lovely little place to stay.
Rose Mullion Cottage was convenient for the coast and exploring the area. It is cosy and warm And well equipped. It is quiet, peaceful and we enjoyed our stay there.
We stayed at Oak House over the Easter weekend, it was perfect. Oak House is a gorgeous house and perfect for our family gathering. We were welcomed by a basket of goodies which was lovely. Great location for exploring Rye town and the surrounding areas. We cycled down to Camber Sands and Rye harbour with the kids. Will visit again. Thank you John
We had a very enjoyable stay at House on the Brooks. The layout was very good to accommodate our party.
We had a great time at the Farthings for a late summer getaway. The property is in a fantastic location near to West Wittering beach. The pool and games room are hidden gems in the cottage and we enjoyed the garden and outdoor living.
Very friendly and helpfull owners Plenty of room in the Shed. Needed an intensive cleaning after weeks of renting
We had a lovely stay. The photographs do not do the property justice. It is ideally located, quiet and well-laid out, decorated and furnished. A welcome bottle of wine and box of biscuits were a nice touch. During our stay, the owner got back to us straight away with answers to any questions we had. Would thoroughly recommend.
We spent a few nights here for my mum’s birthday and had a lovely time. The cottage is really cosy and welcoming and we felt very at home. We could walk straight into the forest from the farm and the kids loved seeing the animals! There are very low beams in the kitchen so watch out if you’re tall! You also need to really stoop to get into the upstairs bedroom. A few simple changes would move my review from good to excellent, including: - Dry logs (was very hard to light a fire as all the logs were very wet) - A fixed shower head in the upstairs bathroom - Slightly clearer dire...more
We liked the house a lot - clean, warm and comfortable. We had difficulty getting the tv going but the owners were helpful when we called them about that. The lighting in the sitting room is not very good and we couldn't work out how to get the fire to produce any heat; a new veg peeler is needed. Apart from that, difficult to criticize. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Sara welcomed us on arrival and when storm Dennis filled the front garden with rain, she waded over in her wellies to assure us the flood would get no higher! Very reassuring and generous of our hostess's time. In spite of the weather we enjoyed our few days' stay and wanted to discover more of the local walks.
We had a 4 night break with friends (and the dog). We were all delighted with the standard of the cottage which is very well equipped and in an excellent location for visiting the local area.
A lovely house by the sea with garden and open fireplace. Very light and comfortable. Great for quiet, relaxing break away from the city.
Property worked very well for a weeks stay, our only concern was keeping elderly parents warm in the winter which was slightly challenging. I would recommend requesting the Rayburn be turned up before arrival and taking plenty of wood for the open fire.
What a find. Small but beautifully formed and in a location almost to die for. A walkers / dog owners paradise; clean and tastefully renovated; well equipped kitchen; good shower over bath. It suited us and our puppy as we used second bedroom for our clothes. Go there now!!!
One of the best showers we've come across in a cottage. A great kitchen too. The TV in each room and Wifi available were also nice touches. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, when we had questions there was always someone available. The location next to Fishers Farm Park, plus nearby pubs and towns was perfect for our family.
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
Pleasant, compact and well equipped house very close to the sea with sea views from two aspects. Location may not be everyone's choice if you want to be very private.
Stunning house a real cosy family home to enjoy in the beautiful countryside with the most unbelievable enormous swimming pool.
Unfortunately for our party, it rained every day of the week - The Studio is definitely a place for holidaying in warmer weather. I can certainly imagine that with some heat and sunshine it would be lovely to sit outside on the wooden decks or down by the summerhouse. In the spring and summer the grounds would be lovely - but this was not the case for us. The wooden decking was slippery - and certainly we wouldn't have gone onto the upstairs balcony where the wood was rotten! Fortunately the Aga through out some welcome heat and was a joy to cook on - and I appreciated the various store-cu...more
Quite comfortable and clean. In my experience overpriced compared to other properties we stayed at. Good base.
A delightful small cottage (those over 6 foot will need to duck!). The parking arrangements are ok, although the smaller the car the easier. My only criticism would be that there are no details/instructions/arrangements for recycling, which in the current climate is not really acceptable.
Stayed here for 10 days in August, this apartment is in need of updating . It is advertised as wheelchair accessible which it is to enter . The bathroom consists of a bath with overhead shower. Most people in a wheelchair would find it difficult to get in and out of a bath , a walk in shower would be a big improvement. There were not enough towels provided for five people and the one`s that were there smelled musty as if they had been stored for a long time . Could not fault the agent who was quick to provide some more clean towels for us. All things considered would not stay in this apartment...more
Saxons was in a pleasant location and there was a nice patio area to sit outside on the whole the rooms were clean and comfortable. However I felt bedding and towels had been well used/washed and the towels particularly were 'thin' and needed renewing.
House was spotless and warm when we arrived. It was safe for our 15 month old baby. It is clean and comfortable with fabulous views and an excellent garden. Will hopefully stay again in summer to make more of it - thank you.
A memorable holiday for all of the right reasons! What could be better than staying on a vineyard nestling a steam railway! The accommodation was excellent, clean and very comfortable. It seemed fully, and well, equipped however the fridge struggled to keep its contents cool. The only person we met on the farm was Don who seemed to be Mr Fixit. He was very welcoming, friendly and helpful! Fortunately we chose the hottest week of the year to visit Sussex and this meant evenings were spent on the patio with BBQ food followed by a short stroll to the lakes to watch the leaping fish and other wild...more
The hosts were lovely and very helpful. We loved the cottage and it was plenty big enough (despite other reviews) for two of us and we have definitely stayed in more than a few smaller places! The fact that the (large and bright) bedroom was separate and the sitting room area was upstairs made it more like a cottage than a studio. The outside area to sit with the friendly chickens and have breakfast/drink tea or wine and breathe in the countryside peace was wonderful! It was so quiet too with owls gently hooting at night and we slept like babies. Perfect location for plenty of walking too.
We were delighted with our stay at the apartment. The location was perfect, and everything was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The beds were very comfortable & the kitchen very well appointed. I loved my stay here - all the little touches made it feel like a home and not a holiday let, and my better half loved the smart TV. Would certainly try to book again next time we visit the area, which will hopefully be soon as we now have family relocated there. Thank you.
This is a lovely, quirky little cottage in the heart of Rye, the decoration is a little dated and the lighting in the lounge could do with a small upgrade, but overall this is a really lovely little cottage and very well located. The kitchen is small but functional, the ground floor lounge has a wood burner which is really nice. The bed is very comfortable and a good size and the shower has plenty of powerful hot water. There is a nice little patio garden out the back which is a real suntrap. With its uneven floors and low headroom doors you really get a feeling for the age of the place. We di...more
Lovely quirky looking interior however we didn't sleep very well through the whole stay. First night we tried the steps up to mezimen bedroom but the noise from the fridge freezer which is so very close starting up all night was too much so we tried making up the sofa bed for the rest of the stay but that wasn't very comfy on one side so apart from lack of sleep we did enjoy the surroundings and the quiet privacy that The Well House has to offer.
We spent 6 days at the end of October at Beach Reach. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is fantastic and even in October, access to the beach from the back door is fantastic. Waking up in the 1st floor bedroom to the amazing view is a real treat. There is loads to do in the area and we can highly recommend the English Heritage sites of Battle Abbey and Dover Castle as well as the fantastic bike tracks around Bedgebury Pinetum. The house had everything we needed and was a comfortable and cozy retreat each evening. Having a real fire was a treat. The only observation I would make is that ...more
Good except we found the bed very hard: key for front door mortice lock erratic: stairs not easy to negotiate.
Kitchen equipment, (pots, pans, crockery) needs updating and sorting, too many bits and pieces, Minor maintenance before a let. shower head came apart, toilet seat moved on the pan. Otherwise the accommodation and our stay was OK.
Cosy, comfortable little cottage in an excellent location for a dog friendly break.Very quiet and fantastic walks nearby
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
