We’ve stayed at a few Amberley properties now and this one is up there with the best . Lovely large shower , very comfortable bed and large living room with everything you could possibly need provided for your stay . Only a small outside space but literally across the road are miles of walking territory which our two lurchers enjoyed to the full . About one hundred yards away is the new inn if you don’t fancy cooking or just fancy a pint although the cottage owners also have a B and B just down the hill and you can pop in for breakfast if you want . Ideally located to access rye , winchelsea ...more
We rented the week before xmas, great surpise and welcoming for our two kids, xmas tree and decorations, the kids thought santa had come early with all the toys available in the house. Excellent location within 10mins to the town centre, co-op around the corner for a 2min walk for anything you need. The house was very well presented, fully kitted kitchen with all utensils supplied that you need, including for kids. The owners Alex and Kate left us be, but were easy to contact by phone for any questions and very helpful in welcoming us to their property with regards to questions etc prior to ou...more
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, we found the accommodation very comfortable and had everything we needed and also exceptionally clean. It is in a good location and there are plenty of Places of Interest nearby to visit.
We picked Dairy Cottage in Burley for location and advertised info .on website. We found the cottage to be very clean and well looked after. The owners were very welcoming and happy to give any help we needed about the area.
Everything about the Oast is perfect. It looked good online but that expectation was surpassed on arrival. Warm, comfortable and homely - all done with some aplomb to an extremely high spec. A delicious corner of Sussex - we’ll be back!
This was a magnificent holiday. From the time that we opened the door on the first day, until the last, this always felt like home. Comfortable, clean, well equipped, and such wonderful views. Lovely touch from the owners, included the personal greeting, wine, flowers, milk, chocolates, bread, and then to find two Xmas trees set up already for our break. We cannot fault this accommodation in any way. And even the neighbors made us feel welcome!
The cottage we stayed in was just as it was advertised, it was very well equiped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The hosts were very attentive with just the right level of contact while we were staying there, the location is very good, just a few minuets from the shops and beaches, The cream tea on arrival is a very nice touch. If we travel in that area again we would definitely stay there again.
A unique property full of character, hosts Roger and Heather went above and beyond to make us welcome. The area has a lot to offer and we were sorry our stay was so short. Recommended.
Warm welcome on arrival with fresh homemade cakes on the table in the kitchen. The owners and staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay. Plenty to do and see and well located for visits out. I definitely want to go back it’s such a good place to be. Many thanks to Mandy persuading me to see the animals even though I had my dog with me, just loved it. Thank you everyone.
Beautiful straw house in a beautiful surrounding. Our dog loved it walks are amazing. Spent Christmas week here would highly recommended it. The owners are lovely very helpfully. It is a working farm and if you ask the owners you can look around the farm. Would love to visit. Again.
This is a very well maintained, well equipped, very comfortable property within easy walking distance of Rye. My husband was particularly impressed with the kitchen which was the best equipped kitchen we have ever encountered in a holiday home. It seemed that every possible step had been taken to make our stay comfortable and homely; staying in a B&B or hotel would've been more expensive and less comfortable. Rye, as always, was a delight- even in the rain!
We needed a base in Sussex for two weeks and Down Under was our home away from home. Everything we needed was there and so comfortable and clean.
We have never booked through Amberley House Cottages before but had a great experience from start to finish . Oak Cottage is in a lovely location even though the weather wasn't at it's best . The cottage is very well equipped & laid out & was lovely & clean & warm which was very welcome. Would definitely book again & would be happy to recommend to anyone.
We cannot recommend Beacon Cottage highly enough. The hosts are wonderful. The cottage is pristine. The location is ideal for exploring the area. Do not hesitate to make a booking.
The rooms were tastefully decorated, very clean and very peaceful. A really nice place to stay, highly recommended. Local area good to explore. Very nice local pubs to have food.
We had been travelling all over Scotland and England and The Barn at Tillington was by far our favourite. It was immaculately clean, spacious, and well equipped. It is situated perfectly for day trips to the south coast, castles, museums, walks in the South Downs and walking distance to Petworth House and the village. We would definitely recommmend this property to our friends.
Our party of 4( including a 16 year old and an 86 year old!) had a wonderful Christmas break at the Lodge. Karen and Cliff went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect ,from the festive decorations and hamper to the delicious homemade cakes , we were made to feel instantly welcome ! Pump House Lodge is very well equipped , very comfortable and in a great location for exploring the South East . The Lodge sits in beautiful countryside with lovely views from the conservatory out across the garden, perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife. We all enjoyed our stay tremendously a...more
Eve’s cottage is a beautiful living space easily accommodating 4 Adults and 2 children. The home had a warm light and airy feeling. The decor was beautiful and the layout was very sociable. All the comforts of home were supplied and it cater for all our needs. The location was brilliant and Arundel itself is a fabulous place to stay with abundance of restaurants, pubs and shops. Plus you have a Castle and Cathedral as your backdrop and for adventure a wetlands centre and beach nearby. We had a brilliant time Glenys
Great little property that was not very little. Whilst only set up for two, with just the one bedroom, there was plenty of room for us and it felt almost spacious. Very tastefully fitted out with decent quality furniture and an excellent bed. Pippa was a delightful host and made us very welcome. Location good in a lovely part of the country. We had a great week.
Was lovely relaxing quiet property set in a great location with easy access to the beautiful New forest, and also close to the lovely town of Lymington. Great pub(East End Arms) nearby and very friendly owners who just let you just enjoy their lovely cottage. Will be back.
We were warmly welcomed by Ann and her husband. They had explained everything we needed to know about the cottage and made sure we would feel comfortable. The fridge was, to our surprise, filled with lovely groceries!!! We will certainly be back for another visit to the cottage and the country, we have had a wonderful weekstay!
We had a very pleasant few days at The Potting Shed while we explored West Sussex. The accommodation was comfortable and spotless, the kitchen very well equipped and the hosts friendly and helpful without being intrusive. It is an extremely quiet location. The only, very minor issue was that we couldn’t connect to wifi and the phone signal was very weak - perhaps this would be a nuisance for anyone more wedded to technology than us. Overall, a most enjoyable stay.
What a superb find with Bay Tree Cottage. Clean, modern and very comfortable. It had everything you could need. Great location for walking the South Downs. You have your own car parking space, your own separate entrance and a patio to sit in if needed. Once inside it has a lovely feel. Light and airy. The kitchen is well equipped with tasteful gadgets, no cheap stuff here. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. Just lovely. I will definitely go back as I feel it is value for money and a great find.
Ideal accommodation for a couple in one of our favourite areas. as we are members of The Romney Marshes Historic Churches Trust. We will be back!
Very nice decorated. Good location, close to the walks of the South Down Way. Very comfortable. Quiet place. Very friendly dog! Nice welcome hamper.
A first time visit to this delightful little cottage in a beautiful part of West Sussex. The cottage was very warm and welcoming when we arrived on a cold December day. The owner had dressed the cottage with a Christmas tree and a few decorations including a holly wreath on the door and we immediately felt happy to be in such a special little cottage. The cottage was very clean and very well equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our Christmas break in comfort. The owner had provided extra goodies which we really appreciated. The location of the cottage is excellent being just a 10 m...more
We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage, more like a bungalow because it is so spacious. Cosy and warm with the underfloor heating, we were provided with everything we needed. Excellent location for exploring the county yet in a secluded very quiet position. Will recommend to friends and would like to return sometime.
We stayed for a few days over Christmas in order to be with family. We cooked a full Christmas dinner with no problems and felt very comfortable and at home. Superb facilities, big airy space, everything provided. Including Christmas tree and decorations. The owners could not have been more helpful. We had a great time and would heartily recommend this property.
Our autumn escape to Little Barn exceeded our expectations. The accommodation is characterful, spacious and well equipped and its location is both convenient and idyllic. The village store is around 100 yards away and there’s a Waitrose within 4 miles. There are 4 Long Distance Walks that pass within a few hundred yards, which together with the railway station being less than a mile away, allowed us to enjoy a different walk every day of our stay without using our car. We are very much hoping to visit again in the future.
Great house with nice outside space. Very close walk to two pubs which serve food. An excellent butchers and a handy local shop. Great walks from the village.
A lovely and tranquil home conveniently located in the centre of Petworth. Very clean and modern, with a traditional charm.
A very well equiped apartment which was comfortable and clean. Well positioned for seafront and shops. A wide range of resteraunts to suit all tastes within easy walking distance. Parking was ok but could be a little aukward at busy times like the airshow. A very considerate welcome pack on arrival along with a very useful personal greeting. Overall a great stay in an apartment that I would recommend.
Very stylish house, great interior, design bathrooms, very clean and in a superb location right across the Arundel castle site.
A lovely apartment in a charming village. This historic village was brought to life by the property owners. Given more time and we would love to explore the village and surrounding countryside.
We found the Cottage to be warm, comfortable and very well situated for walks on the downs and along the coast. The owners were on site and available to offer advice on the locality.
Everything about Bluebells was perfect. It is located in a peaceful position, yet within a short car ride to the very well stocked Jempsons supermarket and just 15 mins to the beautiful town of Rye. The owner's woods and lakes are lovely to explore. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The house itself is very comfortable and well-equipped. The beds are comfortable and there is plenty of room. The owner, Maria, was on hand to ensure we had everything we needed, but was very unobstrusive. We have already recommended Bluebells to friends and family.
We had a great time. There were 8 adults and there was plenty of room for us all. The bedrooms were a nice size and beds very comfortable. The kitchen was nice and with many pots, pans and crockery. It had everything we could possible need, as well as a nice bottle of bubbly and a pint of milk which was such a nice touch. The house was in a great location and spotlessly clean.I would stay here again, and thoroughly recommend it. I wish we could have stayed a little longer.
Communications with the owner beforehand were straightforward and helpful - even getting a table booked for an evening meal in the local pub! The Cow Hide is exactly as it appears in the photos - compact, clean and comfortable. Everything is of a good quality and more than adequate for its purpose. The location is stunning and, even though it was too cold to sit outside, we enjoyed looking out over Arundel during the sun setting and rising and even the pleasure of a rainbow. We were welcomed on arrival and hugely appreciated the breakfast 'goodies' that appeared. The location is lovely an...more
We had a lovely family stay here. Lovely gardens on site and near many interesting places to visit. Ricky and Marilyn were superb hosts.
This apartment was great for 2 people. Plenty of space and good facilities. It was nice to have your own car parking space.
We had a lovely 4 days in Rose Cottage visiting Christmas fairs and a walk round Petworth Park, great cottage very clean and comfortable, lovely location would definitely recommend.
Very cosy cottage at end of row of cottages in a dead end. Although right in the centre of Rye near the back of the Mermaid it is very quiet. Nice private Garden to the front and Courtyard to the rear which would be very useable in the warmer months. Property is tasteful, comfortable, well appointed and looked after. We would recommend. Rye is a special place with great restaurants, pubs, shops, art cinema and loads of history.
An excellent base, roomy and well laid out. An ideal spot for walking, cycling and chilling out. Road access to Maidstone or south to the coast is good and generally trouble-free. Headcorn the next small village is quaint and worth visiting for shopping and eating.
In the years of booking holiday cottages, this was the first time, that both owner and agency went beyond the call of duty to accommodate a last minute request. An exemplary service which only made our stay more memorable, as it had simply not lost its human touch. I would highly recommend Amberley and 76 The Mint. Perfect spot to unwind and enjoy all that Rye has to offer on your doorstop. Beds and linen are superior for a holiday let, leaving you feeling very comfortable indeed. Much appreciated.
The cottage was lovely, big enough for us and our three children. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was really well stocked, all the home comforts you need on a self catering holiday. It was a real home away from home, we had a brilliant time and hopefully will be back next year!
Quail Cottage was excellent in every way. Facilities Comfort Location Margaret was a very good host checking to see we had everything to our liking
We had a lovely week, the cottage was lovely, the kitchen well fitted and the welcome pack very well received. Hilary was very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday
On arriving I was shocked, I knew the house would be beautiful but it was far beyond my expectations! We had fabulous weather so spent alot of time in the charming pool. The gardens are gorgeous with speaking hills for miles and the house interia is full of amazing art. The perfect house for a large group with lovely kitchen and lots of compfy nooks to relax in. Could not have enjoyed our stay more, would love to come back! X
Tarante had everything we want from short-break self-catering accommodation; it was clean and comfy, quiet and cosy. Perhaps more importantly it was within easy walking distance of the town centre with its great bars and restaurants, and had parking. The owner was friendly and helpful (the milk was a nice touch, so we could have a much-needed cup of tea on arrival) and every detail seemed to have been thought of in the accommodation. The garden was available to us and it was nice to have an early morning coffee in the sunshine on the decking. Highly recommended.
It’s a lovely cottage in a beautiful location Access road can be a bit tricky for low cars Nice supply of general groceries to get us sorted after a long journey Woulsd recommend
Lovely short break in well equipped, comfortable & spacious cottage with great walks from the door. Very helpful owner Thank you
We had a lovely holiday staying at Oak Grove. The accommodation was excellent and larger than it looks on the photos online. Everything had been thought of - there was washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent all provided. There are many interesting walks from the house and good nearby places to eat. We particularly liked the Red Lion pub. The owner even posted on free of charge some items that we accidentally left at the property, which is really appreciated. Thanks.
Swan Cottage is a great location for the sights of Arundel and the surrounding district and only a short pleasant walk into the town in the evening to visiting the variety of eateries and watering holes. The cottage was a warm retreat from the not so clement weather and was amply supplied with home appliances and the comforts of home for cosy nights in. The beds were incredibly comfortable and cosy.
My dog and I enjoyed a wonderful two weeks - sheer perfection. It was just fantastic and of course the excellent weather just topped it all off. My thanks to my hosts who were extremely welcoming and I would definitely stay there again.
We've stayed here several years in March,(and reviewed) and there's not much to add! Croft cottage remains a great property in all ways. Position, condition, maintenance -- all good. Obviously a fair bit of money's been spent since we last stayed, and it shows. Still highly recommended, especially if 'no pets' is as important to you as it is to us!
The Apartment was exactly as described on website and supplied details/ photographs. Close to the station.
This lovely cosy cottage is close to the owners house but affords guests with the right amount of privacy. There is great access to the owners land which is ideal for dog owners - being secure and at the time of our visit, free of livestock. The facilities in the cottage were excellent and it was located only a short distance from the village which had a well-stocked village store (co-op)
We stayed at the Dairy Byre for a week with a toddler and young baby. Owner was very accommodating and the property is very child friendly. Our little boy loved visiting the animals on the farm and made a great base to explore the South Downs.
Thanks for a lovely weekend and for a nice comfortable place to stay. We had an enjoyable time despite the awful weather.
Mallards is a very high standard accommodation fully equipped with everything needed for an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. The location is perfect to explore Hampshire/ West Sussex and the many attractions together with the beautiful scenery of the South Downs. The owners are very welcoming and have a beautiful garden that you are able to enjoy.
We stayed at Vane Cottage for one week and found the house to be welcoming and comfortable. The owners' house is directly opposite but they were very discrete and our paths did not often cross. On our arrival there was a welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The cheese and wine were particularly good. Extra fuel was made available by the owners for the wood burning stove which was generous. Vane Cottage is ideally situated to visit several places of interest including Herstmonceux Castle and Seven Sisters. From the Visitors' Book several families appear to return to the cottag...more
Quiet restful holiday break in very pleasant surroundings. Excellent accommodation. Warm welcome from Mrs Wiseman set the tone for the holiday.
Had a fantastic long weekend. Beautiful location with the countryside and amazing walks right on your doorstep. Ideal for those with dogs.
Our only regret about our stay in Library Cottage was that our 5 day stay was over far too soon! The hospitality of the owners was wonderful, the cottage itself is comfortable, relaxing, spotlessly clean and in a lovely location. Our sincere thanks to the owners for a memorable break.
Both my partner and I thought that the apartment was wonderful. We both enjoyed staying there. It is very well laid out.
Lovely house and huge garden. Very spacious and comfortable. It is well located for coast and the downs. There is a very pleasant walk from the house to Emsworth and Chichester Harbour.
It was our first "full" Christmas in our favourite town in England and we could not have found a better place to stay.
We stayed in Priors Barn over Christmas with our two dogs. Communication around booking was good. The barn itself was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The location was great, within walking distance of a shop and a couple of pubs but very peaceful. We hope to go back again in the summer some time to make more use of the outside space. Highly recommended
Excellent spacious cottage, very well furnished and decorated. Very comfortable. Good facilities with everything you will need to self cater. Quiet location but in the centre of Rye with everything within walking distance. We had a great time and would definitely return again to Ockman cottage. Thank you for the very appreciated welcome package.
One of the cleanest places we've stayed in and a good place to 'get away from it all'. Only detractions from our point of view: We found the cottage rather dark and missed having a wash basin in the toilet.
Wonderful cottage that sleeps 10 comfortably with lots of space inside and out for a family occasion.
We spent two weeks at Selden Black. The studio was very well equipped with everything you might need. Owners were very lovely and helpful and on hand if you have any problems. We had a lovely time!
Second visit to this location and enjoyed our stay just as much. The location is good for us visiting relatives in Bognor Regis, as well as a base for wider travel to e.g. Portsmouth, Brighton. Chichester station is a short drive and offers ample parking for a reasonable daily rate. The accommodation is clean, spacious and very quiet. All the facilities are in good working order and there is plenty of crockery and utensils. It is next to a working arable farm but we've never encountered any very early or late goings on. If I had one criticism it's that the blinds in the master bedroom offer l...more
We loved our stay at Lavender Cottage and took advantage of the amazing South Downs walks on the doorstep. The village has everything you need, including a great shop with deli. The property itself was well-stocked with cooking equipment and the large fireplace was a dream after a windy walk on the hills.
My husband and I were very happy with our stay at Calceto. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and recommended some good local restaurants and pubs. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, quiet and well-equipped. It is also conveniently located, a short walk from Arundel station and just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Arundel, which made it easy for us to explore the town. There are also some nice walks close by along the River Arun.
Absolutely lovely house, spacious and great decor. So close to the beach. Only criticism was that the glass door to the balcony in the twin room could've done with a bind/curtain - the children woke up so early - less daylight might have helped!
I would highly recommend Clare's Cottage - it's spacious, comfortable, comes with every convenience (not to mention more board games, jigsaws and books than you'll ever need!) and is a real home from home. It's situation on Charles and Anne's farm and there are a number of paths to follow straight from the front door (one even leads straight to the village pub - where a good meal and welcoming locals await!). You can also buy farm products from the farm shed opposite the cottage (I recommend the fresh eggs!). Charles gave us some tips for places to visit and we had 10 days so managed to ...more
Brilliant stay at Regency House. Lots of character and comfort in a great location! Great space easily catering to a large group. A little worried about parking but we all found a space just outside. Definitely recommend!
I stayed at Cuckfield Granary for 2 weeks whilst working in the area. The place is fantastic, a great area and with everything to a very high specification making it really comfortable.
Great location for walking on the Downs and visiting Amberley, Petworth and Arundel. Comfortable (firm) bed and lovely linen Kitchen is very small and minimalist in equipment. Pubs nearby, White Horse at Sutton does excellent food
Old Orchard is a very well appointed property in a lovely location, close to the South Downs and the River Arun, with walking options very easily available from the front door! With everything on one floor and 2 bathrooms, it was the perfect place for my 83-year old mother and I to spend Christmas. There's a log burner in the lounge, and an excellent heating and hot water system. The furnishings and décor are very appealing, and the owner could not have been more welcoming, considerate and helpful.
A fantastic welcome to the property for our family Christmas; wreath on the door, tasteful decorations in the lounge and a Christmas tree complete with lights and decorations in the dining room. The property was well maintained, spotlessly clean and tidy, generously equipped, comfortable and homely.
Took my elderly parents for a few days. They loved it. Nice and bright cottage. Very well equipped. Comfortable beds and everywhere very clean. Host was lovely and made sure we had everything. Location great for visiting places. Only 10 min drive to the seafront. Would definitely recommend.
The property filled all our needs and we were made to feel most welcome. This was a long term stay and we were made to feel as if it were our home away from home during the stay.
Beautiful cottage in a lovely location......... We all had an excellent weekend stay - homely & cosy!!
We had a lovely time. The first surprise was the thoughtful and generous welcome pack. Enjoy the delicious home-made biscuits with a cup of tea in your own private courtyard garden. The second surprise was the charming and picturesque setting in the heart of historical Henfield: an ideal base to explore the Sussex countryside and the South Downs. The cottage has everything you need for a long or short stay and the village shops are a short stroll away. We can thoroughly recommend Lychgate Cottage. Clive and Elizabeth
Sea Pinks is a charming old cottage that has been tastefully decorated and furnished and with prety gardens in the front and back. The quiet shingle beach with its RNLI lifeboat station and fishing boats is just a 5 minute walk away; and Selsey village is 5 minutes by car. Between the cottage and beach is a pub/diner that serves marvellous fish and chips as part of its extensive menu. The sea paths are lovely for walking and there is plenty to do further afield: the Pagham Harbour Nature reserve (10 mins by car); crazy golf for the whole family (10 minutes by car); and Chichester (20 minute...more
Warm cosy lots of information , map books even binoculars and umbrella. Right by 4 directional footpath marker . Many phesants and other wild, lifee to see. Convenient for beeches and shops and country walks .
We had a fantastic weekend at Brewery Cottage and will definitely be going back, A quirky cottage with loads of character and charm and I would image a lot of history as well. The cottage is warm and welcoming and has a lovely feel about is. Main feature as you arrive is the huge fireplace, which came in very welcome as the weekend we were there was cold and snowy. All bedrooms are of a good size with comfy beds. The property is very well equipped and very clean. Bathroom and shower very good and overall it really felt like a home from home. Sadly we didn't get chance to use the garden but on...more
Everything great except lack of WiFi and phone service through out stay. Could only use phone outside
The cottage is in a lovely location, 1 mile up a private lane so very peaceful. It is right next to, and at a right-angle to, the owners’ house. It is very well equipped, with a generous supply of necessities. We didn't see the lady owner even though she was at home some of the time, but Lawrence greeted us and was helpful. A major issue for us was the bed, which in our opinion was extremely hard - the only way we managed to sleep was by putting a duvet and pillows on top of the mattress and sleeping on those (thankfully we had taken our own duvet and pillows with us).
We stayed at Saltmarsh Cottage late in September 2018, the cottage is in a relatively new development in Camber. We enjoyed our stay greatly, very comfortable cosy cottage very well kept clean and comfortable. We would not hesitate to go back there in the future.
This is the second time we have stayed at Grooms cottage, and once again we weren`t disappointed. It is small and compact (as we would expect from a studio cottage), but to us it is like a home from home .Both Dora and Ken (the owners) couldnt have been more helpful, looking forward to returning again next year.
Property is good for short term stay 2 - 4 days. Cooking facilities limited and suffered problems Fine if you are eating out in the evening Stairway access difficult if you have heavy luggage Fantastic gardens and view
Warm, welcoming, well equipped cottage for a Christmas stay. Thank you for tea, sugar, soap etc. We found everything we needed here apart from somewhere convenient to put shoes and coats on entering. Bedrooms comfortable apart from small room which is probably best suited to a child - the end of the bed was too close to the radiator for our adult sized son, and the noise of the boiler in the room kept waking him up. Location good for walks into town and main road to other locations. Would return to Arundel another time of year when castle and grounds would be open.
It was peaceful and secluded with the Mannings Heath golf course 100 yards away. The property manager, Dave, was very helpful on arrival and throughout the stay when required.
This is the second time we have stayed at the Old Town Bolthole. It IS in an ideal location as said previously. It was very cold this time (January). The heaters are good, but all grouped together meaning one end of the room is always cold. This is really going to be down to the age of the property. We decided against using the log burner as it's literally a few feet from the radiators and we didn't want the mess to clean up. The living room really is too dark for us, with 2 lamps, with low watt bulbs, we weren't able to read easily. This is part of our holiday relaxation. Please let us kno...more
We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Truffle Cottage. It is a beautiful house full of very pretty and comfortable furniture (particularly the beds). It is very well equipped with good quality items. The welcome tray with Prosecco was extremely generous as were the extras such as bottled water and toiletries. The fresh flowers were beautiful. Chichester centre is within walking distance- so much to see and do, with good bus and train links to other interesting towns. On evenings when we didn't venture out, we had fun lighting the woodburner-very cosy and romantic. Truffle Cottage is c...more
The only thing we wanted to comment on was that we could have done with a few more kitchen utensils..spatula, serving spoons, bowls for the microwave...recognising that we are probably dinosaurs actually cooking! The smaller shower head was a bit of an adventure..again maybe new to past their sell by date biddies.
A delightful homely cottage, clean, light and spacious and very well equipped. Would highly recommend this cottage which is ideally situated in the beautiful South Downs.
We had a flood at home and so needed a base for Christmas. With 2 dogs accommodation was not easy to find but River Cottage provided us with an amazing base. The cottage was situated in a perfect location for walking the dogs and close to pubs! The owners had thought of everything to make our stay perfect including decorating the cottage and providing a warm tap to wash the dogs!
A very comfortable barn conversion in an excellent location for visiting places of interest around the Sussex Coast and South Downs
We loved this cottage - perfect for a family of four and our two children enjoyed the gardens and surrounding walks. Very well equipped, comfortable, cosy and warm in winter with the fire. Our host Clare was so kind and we appreciated her hospitality. She was very efficient and responsive to our questions before and during our stay. We would love to come back!
We've had a perfect stay in this lovey cottage. The cottage is really clean and cosy, the beds were particularly comfortable. Everything we needed was provided, the kitchen was well equipped and the welcome pack was great, especially the shortbread. The cottage provides the perfect base for exploring the beautiful area.
This is our second time holidaying there and it was just as good as before, I've already booked for next year, it has everything you need to have a great holiday, fabulous location, comfy beds, loads of space and very dog friendly
The location of The Nest is excellent giving very easy access to Hastings Country Park with its wonderful views over the sea. The accommodation was comfortable apart from pillows that were rather lumpy. The details of the place included reference to Sky but actually gave no access to any Sky channels. This was disappointing. The owners’ accommodation over The Nest resulted in some floor noise at night. The owners control the heating which seemed not to come on during the day, up to about 4pm. Despite these points, we enjoyed our stay in this spacious and modern accommodation.
Lovely place in a great location, perfect if you have a dog with wonderful walks straight from a very comfortable cottage.
The cottage is gorgeous - easy access to the South Downs Way, well-equipped, comfortable and a short 10 minute walk to the village store and pub (where we had an amazing meal with great service). Totally dog friendly too. A welcoming tea tray and a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge were a perfect start to a great weekend in spite of dreadful weather on the Saturday, which didn't stop us completing an invigorating 12 mile hike. We were truly sorry it was such a short visit to a charming locality and cottage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at this lovely small house. The proprietor, Julian, went the extra mile to help us with a couple of small problems - many thanks again, Julian
We enjoyed a short break in order to attend an event at Glyndebourne. All the party was charmed by the blend of history and comfort to be found at Twyford Farm. It has been sensitively and imaginatively restored - preserving interesting, quirky features whilst making good use of available space and providing modern amenities. The ground floor facilities make it suitable for the less able-bodied - though it's a tight squeeze round the bed to access the wet room. Upstairs bedrooms and bathroom require some ducking and limbo dancing...! Very comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Some though...more
We had a very enjoyable stay . The cottage although in a quite location was very central for all amenities .We were able to take country walks straight from the doorstep!
We had a pleasant stay in autumn, there are lots of places to visit in the area. We visited small villages en beautiful gardens. Saw some castles. Enjoyed it very much. There were lots of goodies when we arrived, delicious. Cooking on the Aga was new for us, but it worked very well. Bathrooms were well equipped, beds very good.
We keep returning to Weir View because we really enjoy our time there. It provides excellent accommodation in very peaceful surroundings and there is good access to main roads and public transport. Bosham harbour is nearby and is a lovely place for a walk. The cottage is well equipped and well maintained and we certainly recommend it.
Received a very warm welcome from the owners. Comfortable cottage in a quiet location. Within walking distance of shops etc. Conveniently close to Arundel railway station for non-drivers. Wonderful riverside walks nearby.
A lovely cottage, everything we needed and very organised inside. The studio room was great, esp with its en suite toilet room, and very warm. Location in heart of arundel was fantastic, lovely garden patio. We had a cosy log fire easy to light. Would definitely recommend. I will be going back.
Lovely warm friendly cottage Emma was so helpful and obliging she could not do enough for us. Ideal place to visit all the lovely places on South Downs also the coast great walks everywhere, hope to go back some time .
The cottage is lovely and cosy with delightful old (but tastefully renovated) details. I especially enjoyed the conservatory in the private little garden with the light from all sides and from above; wonderful to sit in in all weathers. Unfortunately the pub across the street is being renovated; it can get loud now and it might get loud once the pub and hotel will be open.
We had a very pleasant stay in this flat overlooking the church and Petworth House. The location is very convenient for the shops and restaurants in Petworth and for exploring further afield. The owner made us feel very welcome and left us treats and ideas of places to visit. The flat was extremely comfortable, the only drawback is the lack of a parking space.
The house is full of charm and feels like the residents have just gone out for a stroll because it's full of art, books and music. Kitchen is well-stocked for cooking and baking, and the barbeque set made a welcome change from the Aga. Beautiful location and lush garden allowed plenty of space to stretch out and relex without getting in each other's space. The second bathroom could benefit from some modernising but the seasonal spiders didn't seem to mind! Must have a car to overcome its relative remoteness. In short, a lovely location that feels like a home, not an anonymous modern box.
Good cottage for group of six women- all single beds and relaxing lounge area next to kitchen. A few maintenance niggles but nothing especially worrying so would stay again.
WE HAD A LOVELY STAY AT IVY COTTAGE WHICH HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A COMFORTABLE STAY. SUSAN WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ON HAND PROMPTLY TO DEAL WITH ANY ISSUES,
Stayed in this beautiful barn conversion & greeted by Lionel who was lovely giving us helpful information where to go locally. We visited local beaches nearby & travelled to Brighton & Worthing during our stay which was lovely as we had our dog with us. The barn was perfect for our stay, very warm & comfortable & very well equipped. Thank you again Lionel for your kind hospitality.
Our 3rd stay at Tackleway Cottage, we love the location and the local amenities. The house is really well kitted out and suits 4 of us (children aged 5 & 7) perfectly. There is plenty of space for us all and it have everything we need. We hope to return again! The spiral stairs may make it difficult for some but they do at least free up floor space.
Excellent short stay accommodation, very hospitable friendly accommodating owners. Easy access to the property and well suited for travellers to the Sussex downs and the cities of Chichester and Guildford. Unpretentious but unique property of good value.
A very spacious and well-equipped holiday house, ideal for our New Year break. The kitchen had everything our family needed and the adjoining comfortably-furnished area was where we spent most of our time when indoors, with the separate lounge as an optional 'quiet' room. The house was warm and everyone had easy access to a bathroom. We particularly appreciated the Christmas decorations which had clearly taken someone a while to put up! Overall we were delighted with our choice and would happily return for another stay. In addition, I felt that Amberley House provided a very good level of...more
Warm & inviteing oozing comfort with extra provisions & charming hosts. Bed was great, kitchen provided plenty of utensils & goodies, & the log fire with the provision of logs completed a most enjoyable stay.
I had decided i needed a house where my 9 family members could all spend more than 3hrs (the norm) eating together on Christmas Day. Since the late 70s we'd visited RYE on days out and loved it! So it was an easy "Google" to find TOLLGATES back in the summer. I booked 5 days immediately. When we arrived on 22 December we knew we were "home". It was the best holiday ever! My middle-aged kids giggling together was priceless. My grandchildren had never before had so much indoor freedom together. And the kitchen was ideal for us with meals 24/7 I thought. THREE lounges! WE all felt at home. ...more
Large flat for two people. Close to old town up a hill . Old town has interesting shops and lots of eating places. Free parking up hill but beware of first few yards that have double yellow lines - cars parking either over or behind these lines getting daily fines. Train to Bexhill-on-Sea for a day trip - cheaper and easier than moving car
My husband and I stayed for a week with our cocker spaniel. We were met with a lovely welcome pack including home made produce which was much appreciated. The cottage was a good size for two people and the bed and the sofa were both very comfortable. The location was beautifully quiet with walks from the door in nearby woods and the cottage is well placed to explore the area. The property has been converted from a farm building and it may be that further work will be done in the future. We were disappointed to find that the enclosed garden did not adjoin the door so we could not let our d...more
Lovely llttle apartment, very clean and cosy. Really enjoyed our 8 days stay here. Location is great, pubs, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. We only recommand a guideline for turning on the heating and also on how to turn off the smokedetector, as it turned out te be very sensitive.
Excellent property, everything works, comfortable and quirky. It being winter we could not really take advantage of the outside space. Would hope to return in warmer weather to take enjoy long leisurely bbq's. Would recommend for family gatherings.
Date of stay: 19/02 - 23/02/2019 It was very much a last minute decision to get away, in fact only booked the day before and Amberley House Cottages gave us great service at such short notice, so many thanks for that Harbinger is a wonderful place to stay, peaceful, warm and very comfortable. Such lovely views sitting in the Eames chairs especially first thing in the morning. We were also blessed with great weather Our hosts and their lovely granddaughter were charming I hope that we will stay there again
Very disappointed with this property located in a family compound where guests needs were very much secondary. Heating not on when we arrived and none in the bathroom at first until we asked the owner to check and it was adjusted but this should have been done beforehand. There were no instructions on how to regulate the temperature. Mattress was well past its due date to be changed. Insufficient noise barrier between property and adjacent garage and pool area where children played very noisily. Informed that someone left for work at 5.15 every morning and started car in garage ri...more
We enjoyed a wonderful stay in this beautiful little cottage. The surrounding area was stunning. Perfectly placed for walkers, particularly if you enjoy the coast. Seven sisters country park alongside the cottage with lovely forest walks. As this is a dog friendly cottage it is perfect for holidays with your four legged friend. We were blessed with sunny weather so we had a great time and would not hesitate to revisit.
The cottage was clean, modern & mostly comfortable. Poor lighting in the living area especially nighttime. Bed in the main bedroom was so close to the floor difficult to get in & out of. If an elderly person had been staying they would have found it awkward. Needs new mattress. We felt the kitchen needed more equipment...cups, mugs, cutlery. If there had been more of us staying we would have run out of things after every meal. Good spot for visiting Lewes, coast, NT properties, Charleston & Monks House. There was road noise but as we had a fan going at night....it was warm...we didn't real...more
Just a free points and observations that enhance this property. TV needs to be upgraded. Shower attachment in main bathroom is unusable and needs repair Bigger fridge/freezer would be useful. This is the third holiday we’ve had at this property and we love the quiet peaceful location.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage for our daughters wedding at Slaugham Place. It was in the perfect location and was the perfect layout and size for our purpose. We entertained some wedding guests from the hotel and had enough room for all the bridesmaids and bride to get ready. Unfortunately there are a few issues that marred our stay. The bathroom and ensuite were in a very poor state, with cracked and mismatched tiles and black mound around the grout and edges of the shower tray and bath. The shower controls come away from the unit and are extremely difficult to use. Both bathrooms ar...more
This hidden gem was a Godsend for us as a bolthole from the madding crowds The owners were delightful, helpful and unobtrusive and the studio, whilst compact was not small Featuring all that would be required for 2 it served us perfectly and was great to return ‘home’ to at the end of each busy day As a purely personal opinion we would have preferred a less firm bed, but this for ourselves could be improved by ‘comfort toppers’ We would have no hesitation in recommending The Print Studio to friends and will no doubt return to its charms ourselves
We returned to Swallowfield after 3 previous stays as we had good memories of the cottage. Everything was as before, sparkling clean, well equipped with a pleasant garden. The beds were comfortable, too. The only issues for people of ‘advancing age’ were the steep stairs, and ground floor bathroom.
The booking procedure was simple and there was excellent communication regarding location and facilities, and how to access the key safe to get entry. This is a compact property and is tastefully decorated throughout. The beds were comfortable and the sitting room was nice with comfy furniture. The outside "garden room" was delightful. In short, a great experience from start to finish.
Warre Cottage is in a superb location, beautifully furnished with very comfortable beds. However, it was cold, damp and smelt musty when we arrived. The heating thermostat was set to 10 degrees and it was evident that the property had not been heated for some time. It actually registered 13 degrees. We had to over-ride the heating controls to put the heating on continuously. By the morning of the second day the temperature had risen to 18 degrees. It was a day and a half into our four day stay before we felt at all comfortable. I note that a visitor in winter 2017 made a similar complaint...more
A pretty cottage in a peaceful location. Well placed for walks on The Downs. The cottage is well equipped and had everything we needed. A mirror nearer to a power point in the bedroom would be useful as, currently, it is too far away when using a hairdryer. Heavier duty saucepans would also help as the water took a very long time to boil and the one lid in the kitchen did not fit any of the pans. However, these minor points did not mar our stay and are not meant as a criticism but are intended to be helpful.
Fisher Dairy is very clean, light and airy. The kitchen is well equipped. The under floor heating is lovely, we needn't need to use the wood burner. it is situated in a peaceful rural area.
My second time in Whippingham. I have friends and relatives on IOW and the Creek is a great base from which to see them all and to have peaceful solitude when needed. It is well placed for ferry access, Newport shops , Osborne etc.
We were an adult party of five (three generations of one family, plus dog). We stayed for most of a week and used the property as a base for beach walks and visits to sites such as Bodiam Castle, Rye Harbour and the Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway. On arrival there was a lovely cake, cookies and local apple juice waiting for us which was a nice touch, and more than made up for the fact the previous visitors had used all the nespresso capsules! It is very close to the beach (if you don’t mind a scramble over the dunes just 5 mins) and the Owl pub. Parking is challenging as the spac...more
Only one problem. No hairdryer. No other problems.Very satisfied.Every thing was to our satisfaction.Warm and cosy.
Oak House was perfectly located a short walk from the train station and from many local pubs and shops. The house is a historic cottage with a huge fireplace (electric log fire) and big living room. Very cosy! The kitchen was immaculately clean and had a great coffee maker. The beds were very comfortable with fluffy duvets. There were lovely touches around the property, that led to a very homely feel. Amberley House property company was extremely professional and easy to deal with, giving many updates and comprehensive check in procedures and directions. We really enjoyed ourselves at O...more
We quite enjoyed our stay; the accommodation was clean, comfortable and well equipped on the whole. But the hot water supply to the upstairs washbasin was very poor, and the upstairs double bed and bedding was not good; bed rather hard and creaked, and the duvet and cover were poor. Some heating would be needed for cooler weather - became cold when the weather deteriorated during our stay. Overall, OK but not brilliant. Would not return there.
What a find. Small but beautifully formed and in a location almost to die for. A walkers / dog owners paradise; clean and tastefully renovated; well equipped kitchen; good shower over bath. It suited us and our puppy as we used second bedroom for our clothes. Go there now!!!
Our second stay at Beach Reach with three generations. The housekeepers had done a brilliant job preparing the house and the arrival gifts were a very nice touch. The addition of the deck lighting for nighttime was really effective and the new pink deckchairs were very relaxing. As usual, we had the entire beach to ourselves! An ideal location for a “simple pleasures” holiday with the grandchildren. Many thanks - Shannon
We booked Little House as it was near our son's home, we live in Cornwall and our other children live in Essex and Hong Kong. We all wanted to be together for Christmas and so the location was ideal. It was spacious downstairs with two bedrooms and a bathroom all of a good size and a further ensuite bedroom upstairs (couldn't work the heating upstairs so it tended to be cold). The open plan kitchen and living room allowed a very sociable space. The games room is a great addition when you have a lot of people around and is equipped with a table tennis equipment and a few board games. Al...more
One of the best showers we've come across in a cottage. A great kitchen too. The TV in each room and Wifi available were also nice touches. The customer service was very friendly and helpful, when we had questions there was always someone available. The location next to Fishers Farm Park, plus nearby pubs and towns was perfect for our family.
Location is excellent - near to the beach but on a no through road so quiet. Pool was brilliant although would benefit from being completely fenced to make it safer for little ones. Loads of plates and big pots and pans but little room for storing foodstuff, and fridge and freezer much too small. Really appreciated the quality of the linen - very comfortable beds and pillows. Would definitely recommend this cottage and would consider returning.
The cottage is okay for families with young children though no stair gate. This is because the only bathroom is an on suite. There were no instructions on the appliances and could do with a dustpan in the kitchen because of the leaves coming in. Loved the area and the pretty cottage otherwise.
Very comfortable cottage; we were a family 5 staying during October half-term. Cosy, warm with all facilities to self-cater plus washing machine etc. Smart television plus wifi (though not the fastest). Small summer house in garden. Very quiet location, by church towards the end of a long cul-de-sac. Friendly neighbour in adjacent cottage. Great walking opportunities from front door, with paths leading (after a good walk or short drive) to the South Downs trail. Easy cycling distance or short drive to Arundel. Nearby pub with river views, wetlands centre etc. Recommended.
We had a lovely stay and were impressed with the location and quality of the house. The little touches for the dog were appreciated and would recommend. The car park was convenient and get the app to avoid topping up each day. Charges are until 7pm. A freezer compartment would have been useful
Saxons was in a pleasant location and there was a nice patio area to sit outside on the whole the rooms were clean and comfortable. However I felt bedding and towels had been well used/washed and the towels particularly were 'thin' and needed renewing.
I have just spent 10 days in a lovely converted dairy cottage. I was given a warm welcome and shown where everything was. The views were either over rolling countryside or on horses heads looking over their doors, bliss. If you are looking for somewhere full of charm I would recommend Old Dairy Cottage any time.
An enjoyable stay in the cottage. It was nice to be surrounded by the garden birds and spring flowers so early in the year.
My wife, my dog and I spent a long weekend in the Well House and loved every minute of it. The location is perfect for some great walks and ideal if you like the peace and tranquility of the countryside. We also spent an afternoon is Lewes which was only a short drive away. We would highly recommend.
We were delighted with our stay at the apartment. The location was perfect, and everything was spotlessly clean and looked brand new. The beds were very comfortable & the kitchen very well appointed. I loved my stay here - all the little touches made it feel like a home and not a holiday let, and my better half loved the smart TV. Would certainly try to book again next time we visit the area, which will hopefully be soon as we now have family relocated there. Thank you.
We spent 6 days at the end of October at Beach Reach. 4 adults and 2 children. The location is fantastic and even in October, access to the beach from the back door is fantastic. Waking up in the 1st floor bedroom to the amazing view is a real treat. There is loads to do in the area and we can highly recommend the English Heritage sites of Battle Abbey and Dover Castle as well as the fantastic bike tracks around Bedgebury Pinetum. The house had everything we needed and was a comfortable and cozy retreat each evening. Having a real fire was a treat. The only observation I would make is that ...more
We were very grateful indeed for the flexibility of the let. The cottage was very warm and had everything we needed. We requested an interim linen change and were delighted to find that the cottage had been beautifully cleaned as well. Having Charlie’s farm shop so close was a great bonus and the pub across the road was honestly outstanding for its friendliness and standard of food.
Nice character cottage. Good parking. Nice kitchen. Comfortable beds. Step hazard at foot of stairs needs better highlighting. Hot water far too hot. Whoever cleans the property really should move the lounge furniture when hoovering ... there was rubbish and grit under the settee. Low beams in places were difficult for our 6-foot member of party.
Cosy, comfortable little cottage in an excellent location for a dog friendly break.Very quiet and fantastic walks nearby
When we arrived we were not sure we were at the correct address as the picture on the website is of the upstairs bedroom balcony not the front door ! The house is on a very busy road and therefore not suitable for small children. That said the house was clean and tidy and the kitchen well stocked. It was a nice touch to find milk in the fridge and a selection of coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits on our arrival. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom spacious . Toiletries provided in the bathroom were again a nice touch. The house seemed to have been recently decorated but there wer...more
Modern house well equipped. Shame about the limited parking. In general house style suits only 2 adults and kids due to only one shower and small kitchen/dining area. Office/lounge extension was a plus.
The property was very clean and comfortable and in a good location. Parking was an issue though. The house is situated on a side road on a hill. Some of the neighbours put traffic cones outside their properties to stop others parking. Luckily, I have a small car and managed to squeeze into a space in the first day. There is "four hour" free parking opposite the property on the main road but it was impossible to find spaces. There is a car park at the bottom of the hill which charges £9.50 per day. I had my elderly mother with me and being able to park close to the property was importan...more
