A Grade II listed cosy, holiday cottage in the heart of Rye, sleeping two, with woodburner and your very own private courtyard garden.

Could easily do better

Booked five days, left after two - here's why:
First impression - grubby frontage with dirty windows, ivy growing across 2 of them, grubby front door and entrance, refuse bag containing food waste tied to a pavement-level window by front door and right next to an open window vent to basement (so-called TV room).
Generally clean inside but don't look upward or into corners. Front curtains would not be welcome at the local charity shop.
Poor and mean provision of utensils in kitchen - a few builders mugs for hot drinks, nothing more. And yet a full set of herb containers and a set of large serving dishes. The basics are just about covered, and the rest is clutter you won't need.

It's a small humble cottage and the rates reflect that. Excellent location but obviously some traffic and pedestrian noise (not loads, just some).
What the rates don't reflect is the uncomfortable furnishings, an overall impression of meanness, from crude mugs to very shabby curtains this cottage has been furnished on the super-cheap. It deserves better.

This is a lovely, quirky little cottage in the heart of Rye, the decoration is a little dated and the lighting in the lounge could do with a small upgrade, but overall this is a really lovely little cottage and very well located. The kitchen is small but functional, the ground floor lounge has a wood burner which is really nice. The bed is very comfortable and a good size and the shower has plenty of powerful hot water. There is a nice little patio garden out the back which is a real suntrap. With its uneven floors and low headroom doors you really get a feeling for the age of the place. We didn't use the subterranean TV room, a few days without TV was a joy for us.

Like the cottage very old and creepy,
Think the kitchen and bathroom needs refurbishing.
Also couple of really comfy chairs.

Charming cosy cottage with excellent outside space.

Cosy historic cottage just inside the Landgate. Well priced for peak times. Garden was very well used by us. We had a great time.

Although Rye is a small place it seems to make such a difference where you stay. We've been to Rye many times before, but a few days in this lovely cottage by the Landgate gave us a whole new perspective on the town. In particular it's just across the road from the famous Knoops - a must if you like your hot chocolate.

I have a feeling we'll be back.

Excellent location for the centre of Rye. Wifi and the shower are very good and the patio garden is great to relax / eat in. The TV lounge in the basement was just too damp a space to use which is a shame and we have suggested a de-humidifier.
