Melfort never disappoints; excellent staff and accommodation -only downside on this occasion, Shower of Herring closed until new people reopen it on 10 October. However, nearby Cufail Hotel supplied excellent meals.
We stayed for 2 nights in the Garden Cottage and would love to have stayed for longer. We were a couple with my 90 year old father and the cottage was perfect - all on the level and well laid out. My dad loved it. The cottage was pretty from the outside and inside, had everything we could possibly need. The big kitchen diner was great for eating in and the lounge very comfortable. We were impressed with the wifi and the staff at reception were great. A really quick and courteous check in and likewise on our way out. We have stayed at Melfort before and enjoyed walks round about the plac...more
We had a lovely week at Farm Cottage Three. Right from the start even before we even arrived, when I had occasion to contact them the staff were friendly and very helpful. The area was stunning, the boat trip round the Isles to see the whirlpool is thoroughly recommended and excellent value for money. The Musical Evening on the Monday in the Shower of Herrings was also very good. The only adverse comments were the lack of sufficient lighting around the grounds and outside the house at night, also the garden was not completely secure. We had three dogs and half the gate was missing. A really goo...more
Old Haybarn is centrally placed and has easy access to the facilities of the village. The cottage layout works very well - the kitchen is light and bright and the upstairs sitting room is cosy with the wood panelling and log burner. Good sized bedrooms and bathrooms - would recommend!
An excellent discovery of the Melfort Village. Our cottage was perfect in every way. Clean and very cosy with all the essentials. The location is really good as if is slightly raised over the village and the view from the main area and master bedroom is stunning. You can see over the villages and through the lake. Our kids were very happy to play in front of the house too. We have stayed in late October but otherwise the patio table would be a perfect place to have your morning coffee ☕️ ! There is no washing machine. That would be the only bit missing. But there are laundry facilities on-site...more
We extended our stay in Melfort village and were rewarded with beautiful weather. Upper Cooperage is a lovely comfortable apartment which now has an ensuite shower room as well as main bathroom. Everything we need is provided and the village is so peaceful and relaxing. All the staff are welcoming & helpful & the Monday music night was great fun. Recommend a stay here.
It was an excellent space and location from which to explore that part of Scotland and great value for the cost.
Beautiful setting well equipped cottage very helpful staff. The only gripe was the cottage smelt of wet dog!!
Having stayed at Melfort Village previously (but always in November), this stay in the spacious Beechwood House had the added benefit of longer days and better weather which added to the memories. The staff were great as usual, always helpful and informative. We used the swimming pool and Gunpowder Room facilities when we weren't out walking and exploring the glorious surrounding scenery. The views from the house were outstanding. Also, the fact that our dog was welcome made the stay more relaxing
We spent a full week in the comfort of Melfort Village. Walled Garden Mews No.9 was extremely comfortable for the four of us. We would not hesitate to return for a second holiday there. The apartment was well equipped and very roomy with a wonderful view down to the loch. WiFi in the Walled Garden Mews was excellent. There is so much to see and do in this beautiful part of the world. The scenery is outstanding and the bush walking on the mainland and the nearby islands is superb. Nearby Oban has some terrific places for eating, drinking and shopping. The restaurant just up the road at Loch...more
We stayed in Weighbridge 20 years ago and we were excited to return to our cozy cottage, so comfortable and warm. We want to return again and stay longer.
This was our first visit to the West Highlands and we were not disappointed. A beautifully maintained resort within a spectacular setting. We had planned to visit the islands during the week but found so much to do locally we decided to save the islands for a future visit. We particularly enjoyed the local walks from the resort which we purchased from reception for £1 on arrival. We also enjoyed some beautiful cycle rides in particular along the Crinan Canal, as well as enjoying local areas of interest. A gin tasting evening and music night arranged by staff was particularly enjoyable. The ...more
Had a lovely 2 night stay at this cosy cottage. Lovely location and very comfortable and cosy. Kitchen was well equipped. Hall and shower area of bathroom looked a little tired, and in need of some redecor and TLC, but overall a comfortable stay in a beautiful location.
Excellent resort and high quality accommodation set in beautiful grounds. Helpful staff on site. Thoroughly recommend.
Although I filled in a questionnaire and handed it in at Melfort Village reception when I left I have completed this one as well because I really enjoyed my week there. The weather was lovely and the views to die for. My friends and I had a day on Luing with lunch at the Atlantic Islands Centre which was excellent. Disappointing that the Shower of Herring was closed from Monday. My only complaint was that when I arrived on Saturday Sept.14th in torrential rain and gales there was no heating on in Powerhouse 2.
This is our second visit in the last twenty years and it did not let us down. The apartment was excellent ,very clean with all the facilities you need. The only problem we encountered was the onsite restaurant was closed. We understand it will reopen on the 19th of October under new management.
Amazing week in an excellent location. Stayed with 5 adults and 4 children and all had a great time. Perfect to enjoy the outdoors and cosy evenings.
Beautiful setting and lodge very comfortable .The games rooms were very good used a lot due to weather and also used the putting green .Took our dog and he was also made more than welcome with his box full of goodies.Would definitely recommend a holiday there.

We were very happy with our accommodation. Bad luck that the restaurant was closed but we made good use of the gorgeous old Pub just down the road. Pool was great as were other facilities.
Really enjoyed our stay.Just did not have enough time to spend on all the things available. Just a nice part of the world to be in
This is the second time we have stayed in walled garden.cottage no. 2. My two grandchildren love it but.I think maybe it could.do with a.wee freshen.up. On the other hand I cannot praise your customer service highly enough, especially one of your reception staff named Alwyn. She was the nicest , most helpful lady I have ever come across. I will definitely be back .
Stables East is a comfortable cottage and well equipped. Staff at Melfort Village were helpful. Swimming Pool and Games Rooms were great for kids on wet days.
Was a great cottage plenty space all mod cons only thing that was at fault some of bedsheets had smoky smell
We visited for Mums birthday in March there were 4 of us plus one dog. The accommodation was lovely and comfortable and not too far from the main buildings. I visited the pool two mornings and really enjoyed the facilities. It is a great base for exploring the West of Scotland with some beautiful scenery . We had a takeaway from the restaurant and it was delicious and well worth a try.
week the staff were so friendly nothing was a bother to them .My dogs misty and blue loved their runs in field .Well donLinda and all the staff. Thank you all Jerry.
Sorry we missed out on eating at the shower of herring due to a change over of operators. Everything else was up to the expected standard. Even the ground were in excellent condition.
Beautiful cottage. We really enjoyed our stay and the stream behind and private garden was a treat. The facilities as always are wonderful and I hope that the shower of herring is open fully next year.
Stayed for 5 days in July. Felt our accommodation was a bit tired looking and definitely in need of upgrading, especially shower. Very quiet location with good facilities on site. We ate in the restaurant one night but can’t say we were impressed with the food, lady that runs it is lovely though. Did day trips to Mull and other islands which was great.
We return year after year, can’t ever see that stopping, it’s just a magical location with wonderful cottages and top customer service.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay again. Accommodation is lovely and Melfort Village is in a beautiful part of Scotland.
We booked at the last minute fir 2 nights as we were delayed sailing to Isle of Barra due to bad weather. Melfort was perfect for us to relax and begin our holiday, the family loved the pool and we had a lovely walk. The cottage was great. Most important the staff were just so helpful, they could not do enough. We are already recommending to friends.
