The parking permit worked well - parking is in Nunnery Lane carpark 10 minutes walk. It might be possible if not too busy to pull up close to the apartment to unload first. The instructions for gaining entry were fine - there are 5 doors and two short flights of stairs. The second door requires gentle fiddling until it magically opens. Apartment seems recently renovated and was spotless on arrival. There’s a large double height kitchen/living space , shower room and double bedroom on the ground floor and a bathroom and attic bedroom upstairs. There is a sliding door into the apartment but otherwise no windows downstairs and velum windows in the attic room. The kitchen is well equipped. The heating is somewhat confusing. When we arrived it was very cold (16 C) - the welcome folder said there was gas central heating and to increase the temperature if needed using the wall thermostat. After an hour spent shivering we eventually worked out that the gas heating is only for the underfloor heating in the bathrooms. The wall mounted radiators are separate and electric and each one needs to be turned on and adjusted. There are only two for the large living space and one didn’t work so Stays York (thanks Sophie) brought us a portable and very effective heater which made all the difference. Apart from this everything worked well. It was very quiet despite being so centrally located. Stays York were helpful and responsive.

You get across 4 doors before getting into the flat (3 keys is needed), and 11 steps (up and down in order to get into the flat.

the only air window is the courtyard big sliding door.

Sheets and bellow sheet of upstairs bedroom were not clean (with obvious stains on it).

the flat is a large size, cleaning suppliers, and a welcome gift, are provided provide.

Location is Perfect.

A lovely quiet apartment in an excellent location. Well equipped and tastefully decorated with everything you need at hand. Check in instructions need to be. Little clearer. The lock box is on the street to the right of the door. As you go through a building adjacent to the tailor shop you need to go through 2 doors (up 5 steps) through another door (then down 5 steps) then through another door into a very small courtyard and through the patio door to get to apartment so very very secure. We loved it and would return.

Great stay in York fantastic location
Small issues encountered faulty lock on one of the doors
Loose carpet on stairs
Very high bar stools under kitchen island difficult eat comfortably
Extremely low bed in main bedroom need good knees to rise from lying down but may be due to sloping ceiling on both sides (watch your head)

Beautiful property in a perfect position for exploring York. Property was very clean and cared for and everything provided that you would need, down to a little gift box with some nice goodies. 10 mins from the train station and 5 mins from the shopping areas. Would definitely go back.

Micklegate Courtyard is in an excellent location. 5 minutes walk from the station and NCP carparks.

The apartment is located to the rear of the front of Micklegate and is standalone from the other 4 apartments.

The refurbishment is to an extremely high standard. When you walk in the downstairs open plan is makes a visual impact.

The main seating area has a huge comfortable couch and a separate armchair. TV with wifi access for some Netflix, Youtube, others and all usual TV channels.

There is seating for 4 at the kitchen island. We did sit two either side for sociable reasons. Not sure it were possible to fit in a small table and chairs.
Kitchen had all you'd need if you wanted to eat in, induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher.
There is a coffee machine if you wanted to use your own pods.
There was a little welcome basket of Fairtrade tea bags, sugar milk and a small packet of locally blended cafetiere coffee, cafetiere also provided. Also a couple small bars of lovely local chocolate.

The downstairs shower room and upstairs bathroom were both excellent standard. The drawer under the sink was good to put in toiletries and other bits. It is the only storage in the bathrooms. Each bathroom has a heated towel rail and underfloor heating. No door hooks (minor point).

The downstairs bedroom is good size although it didn't have any storage other than a couple of coat hooks. A small set of drawers would be useful. There was a small desk/dresser with drawers outside the bedroom next to the bathroom if you wanted to sit down to do e.g. makeup.

There is a rear door that has a gate to another property this gate is bolted shut from the apartment side. Up the stairs to the (enclosed) gallery bedroom. This is a lovely room. The bed is low to the floor and very comfortable. There are velux windows in this room and the bathroom. We did open them as being at the top of the apartment heat rises!! The room has two double wardrobes where we also found iron/ironing board if required and hairdryer. Again there is a small desk/dresser to sit at to do hair/make up etc.

The bathroom is again a good side and the shower was lovely. The mirrors in both bathrooms have integrated lights which helps for e.g. make application. As well both bathrooms have light motion sensors so when you go in (or with the downstairs just past it) the light comes on... Useful in the middle of the night!

In the locality we found two lovely small independent cafes highly recommend for breakfast
FortyFive (which sells vinyl records as well) - https://www.fortyfiveuk.com/ wonderful poached eggs totally fresh (breakfast from 8am M-F and 10am S-S). About 4 shops down from the apartment.
Just around the corner Teajuanas Cafe (Skeldergate) had breakfast there Saturday as Fortyfive yet to open. A customer encouraged us in and advised they sold the best Eggs Benedict in York, they were delicious. Two chaps very friendly.

For dinner just across the road was Vaqueiros http://braziliansteakhouseyork.co.uk/vaqueiros-brazilian-steakhouse-menu/ Highly recommend this. They have a selection of meats that are cooked and skewered brought to your table and the slice off for you as you want. There normal dinner price is £24.95 per person. We managed the earlybird option being seated before 6:30pm and paid £19.95 per person. You have a slightly smaller selection of meats but still more than you could probably eat. Also early bird they had 2-or-1 on the Brazilian cocktails. Great evening.

Another evening we ate at http://www.kapadokya-restaurant.co.uk/MainMenu.aspx. This Turkish restaurant is located in the street directly opposite the apartment, literally one minute walk. Again delicious food, with wine very reasonably priced. Recommend the hot starters to share, we had crevettes, beef sausages, mucver, lambs livers.

For a brief respite from strolling we stopped at http://www.mrpscurioustavern.co.uk/ enjoyed a bottle of wine and the Old Hunt House Charcuterie Plate. Plenty for two and reasonable for four.

The apartment is in an ideal location for enjoying a stay in York. The decor, furnishings and amenities are excellent. I would highly recommend it for a stay and definitely will book again when returning to York!
