Quarenden and Damson cottages are two beautiful, contemporary and spacious, open plan cottages, which interconnect through a wide, purpose-built, door at ground level. Between them, they share 5 bedrooms (one with king size bed, one double, two with two single beds – which can be turned into a perfect king size bed – and one with a bunk bed) and three bathrooms.

We had a wonderful stay in our interconnected cottages at Mazzard Farm. Initially we were a party of ten - three generations. The grandchildren loved ‘their‘ special bedrooms, all the play equipment (especially the bikes) and the little two loved feeding the goats & sheep!
After a busy long weekend we were able to have a really peaceful and relaxing time as a couple. There are so many lovely places to visit nearby. We went as far as the Bovington Tank Museum one day and thoroughly recommend a visit.
Many thanks to Ruud & Jackie for being such great hosts and providing such welcoming accommodation.

Great location, in lovely countryside close to coast. Warm welcome, with complimentary cream tea! It was a family get-together for 3 generations, & the kids loved the ride-on toys around the courtyard, the animals, & plenty of space to run around. The cottages are quite small, but have everything you need. Two bathrooms in Quarenden is a real bonus! In summary, we could have stayed much longer!

Came for a second time with friends for a quiet weekend writing (have also stayed in a family group on other occasions ) Beautiful peaceful place with eco ethos . Accommodation warm, clean and comfortable. Loved hearing owl hoots at night. Recently opened field kitchen a short walk away serves great lunches. Jack and Ruud were as always the best of hosts.

Stayed in Quarenden and Damson Cottages which we found to be very comfortable and cosy. The layout worked perfectly for our group of 10. Lovely grounds and good location to explore the local area. The cream tea on arrival was a nice touch too.

Our grandchildren loved the toys and play facilities in the garden, which they had exclusive access to as it was a quiet weekend and we were lucky with the weather for November. Location was good for us for attending a family event in Seaton. Kitchen well-equipped and we enjoyed the complimentary cream tea provided on arrival. Note that the double beds are very low, so could be a problem for those with mobility limitations. Very handy farm shop (limited range) and restaurant (recommended, but best to book to ensure a table)

We loved our stay at Mazzard farm. The cottages were spacious and comfortable and well equipped.
The courtyard and grounds were great especially for our 4 year old grandson who said he would like to.stay forever.
We had a relaxing time celebrating a special birthday. So thank you Mazzard Farm.

There were 9 of us staying in the interconnected cottages Quarenden and Damson. The communication before our arrival was excellent and when we arrived we were given freshly baked scones with jam and cream which were amazing. The cottages are well equipped although they don’t have a washing machine. There’s a communal washing machine you can use in the courtyard. The beds and pillows are very basic and very uncomfortable. There’s only one towel and one pillow per guest so it’d be nice if there were some extra towels and pillows in a cupboard. The blinds in the bedrooms are very old and inadequate. The kettle and dishwasher were absolutely full of limescale when we arrived so we had to go buy descaler before we used them. Lovely place but needs some extra attention to make it more comfortable - particularly the bedrooms. We paid 2k for 5 nights and unfortunately I don’t think that was value for money.

We were a group of 6 adults and 4 children ranging in age from 3-12 yrs. The two cottages next to each other suited us very well, although the bedrooms were rather cramped with very little storage space. We shook down within 24hrs though and had a good holiday. The children loved all playing together and with the older ones looking after the little ones it gave their Mum and Dad a bit of respite. The huge outdoor space was great and the trampoline in particular was a real hit with all of them.

The fact that there was no access directly onto the courtyard area from our houses was a bit annoying but we adults particularly liked the side barbecue area in the evening and no other party seemed to want to use it.
The local pizza takeaway was very good but we were disappointed to find the local farm shop had no fresh meat - only frozen.
The beach at Sidmouth was great for the children and we had other good days out too, Pecorama and the Bear trail being particular highlights.

Overall a good week

We stayed at Mazzard Farm for four nights over Christmas. The cottages were clean, warm and comfortable and we had plenty of space for the ten of us with the interconnected downstairs.
The courtyard and garden were great for the children and they loved the barn full of toys.
The owners were very helpful and welcoming. The location is rural and very peaceful, but close to Ottery st Mary and Sidmouth for days out and shops.
Overall, great accommodation for a relaxing Christmas break.

I have stayed at Mazzard Farm six times with my grandchildren. It is a lovely safe environment for young children and the location is great for all the Jurassic coast attractions. Ruud and Jackie are the friendliest and most helpful of hosts. The 'eco-friendly' thinking behind Mazzard is also great.

Three friends and I came here for a quiet writing weekend , having been here two years ago for the same purpose,. We belong to a small poetry group. Mazzard Farm is the perfect place for a creative retreat out of season. It’s peaceful, comfortable (warm even when it’s freezing outside), beautifully appointed and we loved the flexibility of the two-cottage accommodation, which gave us plenty of space. Also, the cream tea was delicious.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in this area (and it’s a great base for Devon, Somerset and Dorset.) It would also suit families with young children, or a group like ours wanting flexible accommodation for a writing retreat.

We stayed at Mazzard Farm over new year and had an excellent time. The owners were friendly and helpful, yet not intrusive, which is exactly what is wanted when staying in a holiday cottage. The road to the farm is pretty narrow, but that adds to the atmosphere of the place. I would recommend Mazzard Farm, especially if there is a large group as we were. We were independent yet easily accessible to each other.

I arrived early at the Farm however I was warmly greeted and shown to the cottage. Within minutes Ruud arrived with a cream tea for myself and the other two guests that were shortly to arrive. I settled in and anyone who may be biking in the area in the future should know that there is masses of room to get all gear sorted and there is a safe place to put the bike and a hose for washing if required.
The accommodation is very good if getting a little tired but who cares when you're out on your bike all day, the only thing you want is a hot bath or shower and there were both of those and masses of hot water! The kitchen was well equipped with all mod cons however the dishwasher had seen better days and was a bit wobbly!
When we arrived back from our cycle on Saturday we were met with tea and cakes, very unexpected and very welcome..
The area is interesting and there are many cycling routes to be tackled.
The farm is a perfect place to stay for those who enjoy mountain biking as well as families...

4 of us booked Quarenden and Damson interconnected for a writing weekend in January. We wanted the extra space to spread out and write and to have a room each. The rooms were wonderfully warm, and the peaceful out-of-season environment was perfect for walking, reflecting and writing. We had a delicious curry delivered free of charge from Ottery on the Saturday night. Could have stayed happily for a month and will definitely do this again.

We go here once a year with a group of friends and book out the entire place. Always a fabulous week in a great place, fantastic people and chilled hosts. Kids are now getting older, yet the attraction of Mazzard Farm remains for them too. So much space to run/hang around. See you next year!

There was plenty for the children to do but the weather was not good for them to go outside and explore the grounds or see the animals.
The accommodation was spacious and a minor problem was sorted quickly.
We found plenty to do in the surrounding area and would certainly visit again.

We actually rented out all the cottages at Mazzard Farm to celebrate a special birthday with a large group of family and friends.
We were a multi generational group ranging in age from 11 months up to 74 years and Mazzards Cottages combined with the whole site offered us everything we needed to keep everyone very happy.
The children loved the play area with the tepee and the pirate climbing frame plus the vast array of ride on toys and imaginary play items.
The adults used the courtyard seating area for socialising and eating and the hammock in the orchard was a great place to grab a few moments of down time and totally relax!

The cottages are all very well kitted out and furnished with everything you need to make your stay easy and comfortable. Everyone said how well they slept as the beds were uber comfy- which is always important when you have taken time out of life to unwind and enjoy some time away.
We used the outside barbecue area to cook for 21 of us and it was great and on the Saturday evening we brought in the recommended services of Trevor & Jane Bayfield from "Dine at Home" to come in and cook a 3 course meal for us all which was truly fantastic!

All in all it could not have been better - the accommodation offered us all privacy plus being able to get together as a group, There were pleanty of great places to visit like Lyme Regis, Beer,Branscombe Bay and Exeter, the weather was perfect and everyone thouroughly enjoyed it!! We will definitely be back!

Mazzard Farm was a superb find. We could not have ask more from Ruud and Jacqueline who welcomed us warmly. Everything was in place as arranged. We were given loads of information prior to arriving. Excellent directions too. We were 6 adults and 5 children, ages from 7 to 22 months and Mazzard Farm has something for everyone in our party - the various children's wheeled vehicles, toys, rackets and ball type games, the trampoline, the enclosed animal area (goats, chicken, pea hens) deers in the woods, the lovely paths in the woods, the campfire. The orchard was brilliant, full of fruits at this time of year. There is also a barbeque area which we did not have the time to use! We needed a longer stay to enjoy all the facilities provided as well as the many attractions available in the area but we managed to squeeze in fossil-hunting in Charmouth and swimming on Sidmouth beach. It was certainly one of the best family self-catering place we came across. The cottages were very well equipped, especially in the kitchen area as most of the family cook.
