This was our second stay at Benmore. The first was in the Byre last October as there were 4 of us and a dog and this time in the Stable as just 2 of us and a dog. Both units almost mirror each other with furnishing, style and high quality living conditions. Beautiful setting and surroundings (set within a working farm) and only 10 mins drive from Dunoon. Kayren and Neil, the owners, are very friendly and helpful but at the same time give you privacy! As our son lives in Dunoon we are so glad that we have found somewhere to stay as we know that our visit to Scotland will be a regular occurrence...more
Kayren and Neil were the perfect hosts. A friendly welcome greeting despite them having such busy lives. We were so impressed with Benmore Byre. The location was perfect for us...out the way, with plenty of space to feel free...very important with 3 small children. Fantastic views from the kitchen overlooking the cows and calves, a heron regularly dropping in. The trees and the hillside with all the wonderful colours reminding us all the time we were in Scotland. The rooms were spacious and the layout worked well, all the woodwork gave such a cosy quality feel to the place. Well located for ma...more
We loved Gowan Brae, the garden, and the view down to the sea, and Bob and Carolyn were charming hosts.
Wonderful property in a beautiful part of Scotland. Owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Perfect place for a relaxing break with breathtaking views. House has every thing you could need. Perfect home from home.
We enjoyed Rosemount very much,it could not have been in a better location for scenery and convenience .
la casa è molto bella spaziosa fornita di tutto il necessario e con una posizione stupenda vista lago mozzafiato le informazioni per l'arrivo, consegna chiavi, è veramente efficiente bellissima vacanza
It is a romantic old cottage, but inside everything is new und very tidy. It is furnished with love and there was nothing we could have missed. The owners are very friendly and helpful, there even was a freshly baked cake and fresh flowers in a vase on the table. Outside you have a wonderful garden of your own and a garden table and chairs, and a wonderful look into the landscape on mountains and Loch Fyne.
We were deeply impressed of this little treasure. We made every day a hiking tour und in the evening we fired the wood stove and enjoyed the loneliness. Only a lot of sheeps and two rabbits were our neighbours! What a pleasure! We were very pleased, that we got new towels at the half of our stay - the housekeeper came especially to bring them to us. The landlady has made a portfolio that explains everything. The wifi works most time good. There are a lot of maps of the larger surrounding, so there is everyday something to do, hike or visit. It was really hard for us to leave this little hou...more
The park is very quiet and well cared for, ideally situated right next to Pucks Glen which is amazing to explore. Dunoon has all the shops you'll need to stock up on groceries and take aways if you want. Chestnut Lodge is very clean and cosy. There are games available for rainy days in and loads of information for days out. The lovely owner Chris is available should you need him. We had a lovely time
Very nice stay ... comfortable with all amenities , beds were excellent ( very important as some properties we have stayed in the mattresses really needed replacing) shame it was only a short break
Heathfield Villa is one of the best self catering homes we've stayed in. It is exceptionally clean and pleasant - everything you could need supplied. It is only a very short walk from all the amenities in Dunoon and best of all, it allowed us to bring our dog on holiday with us. We would have no hesitation in recommending Heathfield - a home from home!
Dog Friendly - The garden area isn't an enclosed garden, but the garden area located by the cottage annexe could potential be an enclosed and secured area for holiday makers with dogs, we feel this is important where the cottage is advertised has pet or dog friendly, this alone will prevent us from returning to the cottage annexe. Wi-Fi - More investigation regarding accessing the Wi-Fi WITHIN the cottage annexe - these days holiday makers want to keep in touch with family members and friends via social media and expecting holiday makers to access the Wi-Fi OUTSIDE of the cottage annexe dep...more
An excellent cottage ideally located near to the loch and local amenities. A great games room for the kids to while away the evening or on those days when it rains!
Excellent cottage in a great location. The elevated deck is the signature feature with great views over the Kyles of Bute and beyond. Kames is a great base to travel all around Argyll from with a well connected road and ferry network virtually on your doorstep. Portavadie, Otterferry, Puks Glen, Whistlefield Inn, Tarbert, Cairbaan and Crinan were all ticked off during our week and we're all worth the journeys, especially the Crinan Canal walk from Cairbaan to Crinan. After a busy day out of the cottage it is great to go along to the neighbouring Kames Hotel where the food and drink selection a...more
Enjoyed a lovely relaxing stay at Inverfyne cottage. Very comfortable and homely, had everything we needed (even a piano!). Location excellent with enclosed, dog friendly garden. Would recommend visits to Loch Fyne brewery nearby and the Oystercatcher restaurant at Otterferry.
We had a great weekend loved the house and location would go back anytime. The weather was'nt great but did'nt put us off it at all.
Despite mixed weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cockleshell Lodge. The sheltered bay allows for safe bathing and water sports and our 2 teenagers had a great time. The scenery is lovely and the area is so peaceful. The lodge is cosy and comfortable and has almost everything you need. Just a couple of suggestions - perhaps a pint of milk could be left in the fridge? There was tea, coffee & sugar but no milk. I'm used to staying in holiday lets where a welcome pack is left so had assumed there would be one at Cockleshell Lodge. The nearest shop is a 25 minute drive away so a round t...more
beautiful area and accommodation, would advise great hoiday. great base for travelling around the isles.
This was a lovely cottage with everything we needed and like a home away from home. Great for families
We had a long weekend here and the apartment had everything we needed and would highly recommend it. Only thing missing was maybe a directory with some local knowledge. Where nearby hotels/places to eat were. Recycling, what can go in which bin?
We really enjoyed out stay - the cottage comfortably slept 4 (in 2 double bedrooms) and had everything we needed. It has gorgeous views of the loch and is in a great location - 5 mins walk in to the centre of Inveraray and on the A road, so easy to get to other places. The owners were very helpful too. Thanks!
A lovely place to stay to relax and explore. The only little fault we could find and it's a little picky. is that there was not enough plates and cups, as when things where in the dishwasher from breakfast we ran out
We recommend both this location and specific accomodation to explore the Scottish Highlands. Had a great stay in this clean, well maintained lodge in very good condition. Nothing too fancy, but not looking for that if you rent a lodge for hiking: value for money. Friendly neighbours around and happy about the support and customer service.
Taigh na mara was everything we expected. Our family of 10 were more than happy with the location on the shoreline and the added attraction of the pool table kept us all away from phones, ipads etc. As a family we have visited many houses over the recent years and can say honestly this was the best! Teenagers are always the best critics.
A lovely modern house in a great location. The house is well equipped and is ideal for that 'get away from it all break'. Located about a mile down a forest track next to a small loch it is incredibly peaceful . It's about a 10 minute drive back to Tignabruiach, and 5 minutes to portavadie where there is a great marina and spa resort and the hourly ferry across to Tarbert . Lots to do in the area, Kilbride bay is magnificent, great pub/restaurant at Otter Ferry, and the best views from a golf course you could get at the Kyles of Bute GC at Kames. Only issue we had was that the satellite tv s...more
Kintore is a great house to spend time in with plenty of space, board games, books and wifi. The pool table is a bonus! It's in a lovely peaceful setting with a beautiful view, just a short distance from Dunoon and we visited the cinema, shops and cafes there. Children cycled along the prom and in the local woods and we visited Rothesay.
Having grown up in the village and with plenty of family in the area to stay with. We chose not to put anyone out and rented this beautiful house. And will definitely do it again. Breathtaking views and peaceful at all times of the day. Highly recommended
We had a great family time in Newton Cottage North. Could enjoy Inveraray Highland games too which was extra bonus to our stay. Location of the cottage is great with a beautiful lake view. Wish we could stay longer.Thank you!
Definitely recommend both the area and the accommodation. Plenty to do - all the benefits of Portavadie alongside without the cost of their own chalets.
Waterside Villa is absolutely beautiful. It is kitted out to a very high standard with everything you need. It is also spotlessly clean.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Loch View Lodge. Only down side was having to drive the long way round, over a very bumpy and pot holed road , as we had no access through the vehicle barriers within Hunters Quay.
We liked and recomend for all visitors..............................................................
The Secret Coast Lodge provided a much needed getaway in stunning Kames. The lodge was clean and had every facility needed for sleeping, laundry, entertainment and cooking. The view from the lodge was outstanding and only a short walk (although maybe steep for some on the way back) to the convenience store and hotel. The public bus to Potavadie provided a lovely trip to Tarbert.
Thoroughly enjoyed time at Loudon Cottage will definitely go back, highly recommended and excellent location for sightseeing
Very nice apartment with good facilities. Plenty of parking and good views of the Clyde. Close to the local shops and supermarket. The garden at the back is a real sun trap when the sun decides to shine.
Enmore House benefits from an excellent location on the waterfront and is well situated for Dunoon and surrounding areas. The house has got lots of accommodation and the lounge/kitchen area is particularly nice. All in all we had a great time staying there. Our only fault is that there are quite a few things which need attention in the house - kitchen external door does not easily lock; tap dripping in bathroom; oven is very noisy when on; one of the doors was falling off in the kitchen cabinets. Its such a pity that there are these small things because otherwise it would be excellent !
We loved it and we recommend the house to everyone ............................................................
We stayed at the flat for almost two weeks and had a very relaxing holiday. The flat is exactly what we like...it is very modern, fresh, clean, has all the appliances you need and very importantly all in very good condition. The only thing which could be changed is the size of the teapot! :) The flat is also perfectly situated as it is just a few minutes walk from the village shop and the pub which has very good beer and food! I am sure we will be back again.
This cottage had everything you could need for a short break and was comfortable. It was also in a great location for walks, whilst being very quiet. A true escape from city life. We especially enjoyed the books in the cottage about the history and walks to the ancient monuments in the Glen.
Had a wonderful stay in Upper Ashwood. The accommodation was very comfortable and was totally equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Highly recommend.
As soon as we opened door to spacious light kitchen with all mod cons to choosing our well decorated bedrooms, we knew we were going to have a good break. We were fortunate enough to have good weather so didn't get the chance to play the games or read the library of books. We would recommend this property to anyone either as a base for touring or just chilling. If you have children a walk up the steep steps to edge of woods reccomended
The cottage was lovely and situation was good. Not very much hanging space for clothes. Plenty to see round about and ferry journeys away, Tarbert and the Isle of Bute. We even visited the Crinan Canal. Hope to visit there again.
We really enjoyed our stay the location was excellent. The biscuits and snacks left for our arrival were appreciated. We also enjoyed the hot tub however the decking was quite slippy. The only other feedback I would give is that the kitchen could be a little better equipped with more trays for oven and also a pair of oven gloves. All in all a very enjoyable holiday in a lovely house thank you.
This little cottage is small (one room plus bathroom) but well-equipped and had everything we needed for a three night stay. The location is absolutely amazing with views out across the loch from the patio in front of the cottage. We enjoyed a BBQ with this stunning view in the sunshine! However, because of its proximity to the beach, it is slightly exposed so blinds need to be drawn whenever you don't want passers-by to see in! The shower was good and hot and there was a large selection of DVDs. The nearby hotel is great for fish and chips - a good idea to book during peak times. As mentioned...more
Great place apart from the 8 mile single road in which which you have to use to explore the area which is pretty awful
Ardmun is in a lovely setting. There were 8 of us. 4 adults and 4 children. We spent most of our indoor time in the conservatory looking over Holy Loch. Everything we needed was there but it does feel a bit dated and damp. The indoor stairs were tricky with the kids who once or twice tripped down them. Could do with another shower upstairs. But i would recommend it to others
We had a lovely time in this cottage in July. We were very lucky with the weather but even if we hadn't been it is a lovely house to hang about in with the cosy fire and the views of the Firth of Clyde. We loved sitting out in the garden watching the 'traffic' on the water, in our time there we saw ferries, a few cruise ships, the Waverley paddle steamer, a couple of submarines and many other ships. Our dog had a great time in the garden and climbing about the rocks on the beach. The house has everything you could need including a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier etc. The only th...more
Really enjoyed our stay. Very relaxed. Kids loved it. Lots of great walks nearby. Would definitely recommend. We will be returning for sure.
We had a lovely week on the shore of the loch. The cabin is very well equipped and the wood burning stove perfect for cheering up a rainy day. The views over the bay are spectacular and the bay itself a wonderful safe place for young children compared with a lot of the beaches on this west coast moody loch side.
We have just spent a week here and the lodge was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is a lovely quiet site.
We had a lovely stay at the cottage! The house was very well taken care of and the owner left us some welcoming gifts which really nice. We were 5 people and fitted perfectly! We really enjoyed our stay and had the countryside experience we were looking for. The thing to point is that although it say you have wifi we could not get it any of he says we were at the house. Rita
A loveley, well equipped cottage! We found everything we needed for our short stay. The house is a good basis to explore the surroundings.
Overall the property was great, only let down by the bathroom and dodgy shower. Believe the bathroom and kitchen are being replaced so should be fine going forward.
A comfortable cottage with a great view and nice deck to sit out on with perfect peace and quiet. Lots to do in local area and with the ferries can get to Isle of Bute and Kintyre. The Benmore Botanic garden is splendid as is Puck's Glen. The swimpool in Dunoon is very good especially on rainy days. The owners make you very welcome with eggs, milk and other goodies which was much appreciated. We didn't try the Quadbikes also based on the farm but they looked fun. Outside the cottage there is a red squirrel and lots of birds including a woodpecker. There are also bats who seem to like tryi...more
I would only recomend it to hikers or fishermen all we could see were trees birds nesting near front door so couldnt sit outside
Property very nice and clean with lots of the things you would normally have to take already provided e.g. Dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. What let it down was the lack of instructions for things like freestat, how to play a DVD on play station. Confirmation provided on booking and a few days before was not up to date i.e. Wrong housekeeper contact, wrong place where instructions were to be found, no bag for glass as stated. Outside furniture not that comfortable for someone with mobility needs. No outside umbrella provided(would have been helpful on first sunny day). Hot tub was great...more
We had such a lovely holiday in this beautiful corner of Scotland, and the house ticked all the right boxes for our needs. It was spacious and comfortable and just a short walk to reach the little gem of Crinan below. Amazing sunsets over Jura from the house, and an amazing collection of interesting books!
First impressions on arrival weren't great the cottage looks a little tired from the outside black marks on walls ,weeds by front seating next to front door but inside was clean warm and comfortable welcome pack was a great touch and it had a homely feel to the cottage great location and good views ,great for the price
We stayed for a weekend with friends and our toddler to go to a nearby wedding. The cottage was clean and the beds cosy. The decor was really drab and cheap though and felt sterile. The kitchen was poorly equipped (as an example only 3 mismatch tumblers) and so I think we would struggle here for more than a weekend. It's very spacious though and has an upstairs and downstairs. If you are bringing small children suggest you bring a portable baby gate as the stair way could do with one to the downstairs.
Lovely house Ian and David was very helpful from holiday meetings .TripAdvisor although very polite when speaking to them was very unorganised communication was poor when trying to sort changes to dates . The villa Benvue was s lovely house the gardens were nice. We had a lovely holiday
